I'm as cyanogen junky. Sense rom's are to heavy for me. To much going on and a lot of functions I don't use that just take up space.
If you like to personalize your rom's with customizations like I do cyanogen is the way to go.
Plus they just released a 7.2 and possibly a v9 soon.
Sent from Soundwave aboard Nemesis.

CM all day. When I rooted almost a year ago I flashed CM7 and haven't gone back to sense at all since then. I like the look of sense, but it's too much bloat. I like sense more than touchwiz or motoblur, but I wouldn't use any of them over stock android.

First HTC, it has only had Sense. Starting to get a hankering for 4.0, too bad the One X has no SD slot. My upgrade is coming, then I will go wild on my Inspire. Maybe CM9 or something from the Collective, but Sense is purty.
Disclaimer: This is not advice. It is just something that fell from between my ears.

Cyanogen
I've only been flashing for a few months but once I started I was soon flashing everything new that was released. This led me to overlook CM 7.1 which was over 6 months old but when I finally did I wished I'd done it months ago. Its stable, incredibly fast and customizable to a fantastic degree. I love it and don't know if I'd go back to Sense, we'll have to c what official ICS Sense release is like but I'm really waiting for CM9.

A search would have told you that we dont do these types of threads. They only lead to flame wars.

[Q] Best Nexus S Rom?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if I could get some advice. I had the Nexus One and had Cyanogen running on it, which I loved. I got the nexus S at christmas and love it... the random reboots did annoy me until 2.3.3 came out. Recently I rooted the phone and flashed modaco custom ROM based on 2.3.3 with the KB3 radio and GRI 54 base.
I was wondering if your guys opinions, what is the best ROM to flash, that is stable, with not random boots etc. but an improvment on what I have?
Thanks!!
They're all great. Try them all and see which you like the best.
Personally, I like CM 7 because of the T-Mobile theme engine that allows me to change the appearance of the ROM with the touch of a button. No more constant flashing of themes for me!
CM, only CM)
I was a CM7 fanboy untill i tried MIUI
MIUI without a seconds doubt...

I've tried a lot and although they all have their advantages I always come back to CM. It generally picks up all the great little mods that the community develop not to mention all its own great features.
Bear in mind that it is still not technically stable yet though R2 has been pretty good for me with only a couple of reboots since installing on the day it was released. Once we get the full stable CM7 it will be a tough one to beat
Cyanogen Mod 7 only.

I will elaborate. I've run every ROM available since January (when I got my NS). I've tried almost every release of those ROMs as well and I can honestly say that they are all awesome for different reasons. I try really hard not to be biased to one ROM or one developer because it tends to cloud your ability to try different things with an open mind. Right now I have NANDroid backups of CM7rc2, MIUI, Axura, NSCollab, Stock 2.3.3, Stock 2.3.3 Deodexed, and Honeycomb.
I'm always sad to see these thread because I think its asking the wrong question altogether. What these threads should ask is "What is your daily driver?" because "best" is so subjective to uses and personal preference. What some love about CM7 is also what many other hate. The iOS look of MIUI is both on of its most loved and hated qualities. Whatever tweaks a particular dev or team of devs seems fit to include may be exactly what a person wants or what a person doesn't want.
Now, I've said my diatribe and I'll answer the other question: "What is your daily driver?"
I have two. Some days I run CM7rc2, some days I run Axura. Once the white background issue is cleared up in MIUI, I'll add that to the rotation as well.
Cm7. Other roms are good for if you're bored and want to flash something new. Pretty sure everyone ends up on cm7 for stability and features better than stock.
Axura is my everyday driver. Its fast and its been the most stable for me.

I must agree entirely. I tried CM7 for awhile but it wasn't stable enough for me. I've never had a ROM as stable and fast and clean looking as Axura! I'd recommended at least giving a few of them a try though. The stickied thread by Kenvan is a wonderful resource!

CM7 for me.. the settings that CM7 offer are just too good to give up.
Axura for speed and animation, and CM for usability.
I use axura as a main rom and stock as backup

Feedback Needed From The Thunderbolt Community

If you recently purchased a Thunderbolt ....
You may be in the same boat as me, looking at rooting. Everyone is talking about gingerbread coming to our phones. I haven't seen an OTA as of yet, but it has leaked. located here->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1225752
Now,
I know that you can root very easy here->
http://revolutionary.io/
and I would play close attention to this video as it provides detailed instructions ->
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UK_CiB2SYk
**WAIT**
Before you dive in, here comes my question.
If you have done your research, there are alot and I mean ALOT of roms to flash for the thunderbolt.
I would like some feedback as to what rom you have flashed.
This will help anyone new to the thunderbolt party as well as myself.
I have yet to make a decision on rooting or waiting.
Your feedback below please.
Thank you all in advance
And as ALWAYS,
Thank you to all the developers who are working there butts off !
I tried out team bamf first, but then they jumped ship to their own forum. So then droidtheory started releasing roms and jumped to him and haven't looked back.
He has a sense and aosp (cm7) version and also dhacker and xpack have released their own versions based off of droidtheory's work.
xpack's senseless rom is very nice. Has the sense base so gps and nfl network work right out of the gate, but no sense (adw launcher instead) so its fast and smooth.

You can't go wrong with DroidTh3orys ROMS.
Root. Now. That way you can make your choice when/if GB actually comes. You can always go back to stock unrooted. You may not be able to root with the new OTA.
Roms? Like many things they are a personal choice that no one can make for you. Having flashed them all, I can tell you they have improved dramatically since I got my bolt in May. If you choose to root, do yourself a favor and try several. You will find the Rom that suits your taste and needs.

100% agree with this guy.
Us leaving XDA doesn't change anything about the quality of our roms. Fact is, many of our innovations end up in other roms anyway (ask ihtfp69 and erishasnobattery).
You can find us at teambamf.net, or rootzwiki.com.
There are many roms to choose from out there. Try them all, then decide.
Thank you all for your feedback. I made sure to click the Thank You buttons on all of your comments.
Once again thanks for the quick response. will be flashing later on today.
Im hoping this post may help some new Thunderbolt owners.

**Every phone behaves differently just want to add this before anything.
Multiple reasons, first and foremost my phone behaved the best with ShiftAO5P. I had a very smooth running phone and an amazing battery life with all the bells and whistles turned on. I went from 4 am in the morning to almost 6 in the evening without a charge. I am a moderate to heavy user, my battery does not last that long EVER.
2nd, choices with the rom was amazing multiple governers, mulitple kernels you can try them all till you find the best combo.

I have flashed almost every Rom for the TB.
My recs are

AOSP: CM7 or Omfgb for those who like tweaks. TheRom for those who want a vanilla experience.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I will have to give ShiftAO5P a try.
I've been running dasBamf Roms for a month now and love them. I am currently on UberBamf PR3. every Tbolt is different, so experiment and see what works best for YOU. After you install each ROM, make a back up of it. That way, if you install one, that you don't like, you can revert.
I like a fast, customizable ROM without all the Sense bloat so I use Liquid Thundersense. I've only had this phone for 5 days so I really have no other Thunderbolt ROM to compare it to (I ran Gingeritis for a couple hours and the stock ROM only long enough to download Gingeritis to the device; I just hate Sense lol). As far as it goes though I've owned five Android devices total and have rooted and ran custom ROMs on all of them. Only way to go IMHO.

Don't see a whole lot of rant in that post, but anyway. I feel that your view on whether to go CM or MIUI is spot on. I understand that people have a preference, but when I have seen and tried devices with both I end up with largely the same experience. Taste is all it comes down to!
i am very thankful for Cyanogen Mod. Never tried MIUI

Herold,
I need you to work on your writing a bit more before you submit a piece to be critiqued. Proper apostrophe placement is not only a pet peeve of mine, but a clear indication of someone who refused to pay a very small amount of attention in English class.

I'm glad that there are so many developers interested in porting CM to various devices. It's the only thing that makes using a non-Google phone/tablet usable for me. I can't wait for stable CM9.
I love CM, the ability for themes is awesome. I currently use the ICS theme and it doesn't even look close to stock Gingerbread. And it is the most stable ROM that I've experienced, too.
Nice post, I never tried AOSP or MIUI and just recently got into using CM roms. Gave me more information on the new roms I've been seeing. I would agree you don't rant too much nor go into too much detail as the pros or cons of each variation of the mods.
I had CM7 with my Desire Z,
now with Sensation, I'm currently tryin InsertCoin 4.0.X
Can't really deside, both have their ways
I am hoping that they port over CM7 or CM9 to the sensation xl. Im currently running the bindroid rom which is good but really holding out for cyanogenMod.

I hope so too. I'm planning to buy the Sensation XL. But won't do unless i make sure there will be CM7 or 9 Port
i tried CM and MIUI and i prefer MIUI absolutely!
In my opinion, I think that CyanogenMod will surpass stock Android when it comes to features and stability, eventually.
It probably already has... when you consider that its on yaffs2 and not ext4
Stability?
I have been using CM7 ever since I got tired of rooted stock. The first version I installed was 7.0.0, which lasted about 4 months until it started wigging out. I flashed 7.0.3, and that was great until three weeks later it started exhibiting the same problems as the previous version. I reflashed the same version and had a little more success, lasting without error until 7.1.0 Stable was released. Since October, I've had to reflash at LEAST 5 times, due to instability. Now don't get me wrong, when CM7 works it REALLY works well. When it doesn't...my phone is worthless until I reflash. I would LOVE to know why everything starts force closing after x amount of time, as I'm really getting tired of setting things up the way I want them each and every time. *steps down from soap box*
i loved CM7 on my N1
Good too read a review about something which isn't commercially developed.

Keep in mind, the *best* ROM varies from person to person.
That being said, Check this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=943
For AOSP Roms, I personally like Liquid Smooth. Fast, stable ROM
and its been themed/skinned to look a great deal like Ice Cream Sandwich.
CyanogenMod 7 is another popular ROM for T-Bolt. Even tho it's not "officially"
supported, it appears to work just fine.
(Liquid Smooth is the ROM I'm currently running).
If you like SENSE Roms, the BAMF series seems to be quite popular and
the IKream series also looks great.
I personally suggest that you hack the phone with Revolutionary, then
do a full backup with ClockWorkMod. After that, you can flash all the ROMs
you want with a simple restore to put you back to stock.
Since you're experimenting with ROMs, I suggest you stick with ROMs that
do not require a new Radio. Radio's can brick your phone and there are plenty
of ROMs out that work with the Stock Radio.
Good Luck!
I really like Liquid Smooth 3.2. Its super fast and looks amazing. It's much like CM7 but I like it better. I rarely have force closes or any bugs at all.
Liquid 3.2 for AOSP with IMO's latest kernel. Don't forget to run speedtweak.sh after installing kernel.
Infected eternity Sense 3.5 with 3d custom Rosie and CPU running at 1.5.
If you like sense 2.1, well than you have no taste lol.
i have liquid smooth 3.2 installed and it run very nicely... i was wondering if anyone knows where to find some nice themes for this rom? i did a search but i cant seem to find any themes for this rom, is there a ICS theme available?
I use infected eternity 3.5 and love it. Good fast Rom with plenty of support.

The absolute BEST ROM (for me!) is the one I run. The BEST ROM for your cousin will be the one he likes.
I run Eternity, I also like Liquid Smooth and (oddly enough) I also like the stock ROM but rooted and de-crapified.
i personally like DV's miui but its not the stablest yet.

I can very highly recommend ThunderStick Full Blown if you want a Sense 3.0 ROM.

There always has to be one of these guys ^, the self appointed search police (btw, your link pops up "no matches" for me).
Some guys read every post ever posted, and complain about all of the ones not interesting enough for them. Rom's change on a daily basis, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with this thread. Even though I have had my TB since it was released, and have followed this forum ever since, I am still interested to see others opinions on CURRENT ROM's. That is why I opened this thread, why did you?
To the OP, I dual boot Gingeritis 1.2 (mainly because it came with the miui bar, even though pvy's app can be had separately in the market now) and CM7 (need it for work).
IMHO The best most stable is Eternity. It also has the best support
The best is the one that gives you the features you need. Everyone has different needs and taste

Inspire Roms review

Good day all
Well today I'll be making my impressions on the Roms I've tried so far for the last 3 months.
First is the AT&T stock Rom.. I actually didn't have much time to play with this one because I was desperate to try others Roms I Han already done some research about. All I know is that my relative in US upgraded it to Gingerbread and I had it for about 2 days and then rooted and flashed a custom Rom.
The second Rom I tried was the one I wanted the most: ARHD by mike. At that time it was 5.x I think... It felt quite good and I liked it a lot.. I started my experience with this Rom and once I got caught up by it I was hoping for new releases..
Finally mike brought us 6.x builds and at this moment I'm running 6.3.2 which has been working absolutely great so far.. just one bug with Skype and contact sync I'm having but not much of a problem indeed..
The second Rom I tried was Lord Clockan's Ice Cold Sandwich which I immediately like the looks because of the ICS system.. once I got to play with it for a while I found some already known issues with the camera, and some features still missing when I tried to personalize my device.. but in performance the Rom was very responsive, very fast, and moat important: BATTERY FRIENDLY (23 hours battery life).. however I decided to go back to ARHD because of the mentioned bugs...
Then I started a very fast Rom trial with some of the commonly know Roms such as LeeDrOid, CoreDroid and aospx... Now a quick review for those Roms..
First I tried CoreDroid and the first think I said was: "Oh! the colors!" I didn't like the theme at all, and I like blue if you must know... The colors, the icons I didn't like much the looks of this Rom, however I decided to give it a try in performance because you can always change the looks of your Rom.. So, as said, I tried the Rom, quick look to the camera, market, sms, browser, keyboard layout and responsiveness, and my general thought was OH THE COLORS! I just couldn't get pass them.. but trying to leave that aside, the Rom felt right, but not right for me...
Next I tried LeeDrOid's Rom, and I also was shocked by the colors, but moving on I did the same test as with CoreDroid.. my final decision is that I didn't like the feel of it, I liked CoreDroid better.. but I will give those two another, and more throughly, try..
Third was AOSPX with ICS, and of course seeing my Inspire running ICS is a very weak spot for me so I liked it very much... Now I had a Rom to compare with Ice Cold Sandwich .... I ran the quick tests and noticed a few differences between both Roms, for example camera worked fine in normal mode , but they had similar behavior in landscape mode... ICS had Trebuchet, and aospx didn't.. well some differences but the final decision was that aospx has very good potential and I really like it and now I'm in the wait list for any updates...
I also tried ARHD 7 with no Sense, for DHD, but I immediately went back because I didn't want to spoil the surprise for when it is Inspire ready.. I also flashed CM7.1 but never tried it for long because I didn't have time.. later I'll post a short review for it...
So now I'm following the threads for ARHD, Lord Clockan and AOSPX and I'm expecting any updates for those Roms which in my opinion are the best for my usage..
