I have the TF101 with the b90 serial. Ever since running the latest update my TF wont boot. It sits at the Asus eepc splash screen. It is not rooted running all the stock software. I have tried a number of things and all of them seem to fail.
Things ive tried;
-I have held the power button down for 20seconds a minute etc and it just goes back to the asus splash
-tried to hit the reset button on the side
-held down the power + volume down till white letters. tried the cold boot and the data wipe.
-tried to do hold down power + volume down and hit the volume up to do the RCK recovery and it loads for a quick second then gives me an Android logo with a yellow caution sign.
-going to asus site and taking the firm ware saving it to a microsd card and trying to boot the TF with the card in. no luck there either (unless i was doing it wrong)
Does anyone know a fix so i can get this thing working? Any help is appreciated. This is my aunts tablet so im new to the android OS.
Did you place the firmware in the root of the SD card and booted into recovery (power+vol-, vol+)?
yea i unzipped the file into the root of a sd card and did the power + vol - then volume+ when u see white writing and i just get the android olog with a loading bar for about 1 second then goes to a android with a yellow caution logo and sit there.
Ive never flashed a ROM on the TF using the stock recovery, so I cant really be sure if this is correct but...
On my Novo7Basic, you have to place the .zip file (not extracted) in the root of the SD card, and name it update.zip (I know the TF needs to be named something else, but I dont know what).
So you could try just placing the .zip file in the root of the SD card.
Just to make sure the sd card has to be formatted FAT32? I downloaded the us firmware off ASUS site and I unzip the original file u get off their site and inside there is another zip file i save that zip file onto the root of the SD card.
this is quite frustrating havent been able to use this thing for over a week. id be willing to root it or put cwm on it to reflash it but im not sure if i can do any of that without being able to get into the OS.
Did you rename the zip to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip ?

Hi
i stalled clockworkmod as described here but when i try to pull it up with the (volume + and power button) all it does is go into the reboot kernal thing and shows the install box and then boots up to normal screen. Did i miss a step somewhere?
thanks
jt
Did you make sure you did it from actual SD Card? (not internal storage).
I followed the steps as well and got the files suggested. I did not root my device however. I'm running the newest build of the stock TnT UI.
I put the update.zip on the root of my SD Card and then the folder recovery (with command in it) on the SD Card as well. I flashed it using the stock method. It didn't look like it flashed but when I powered down and went through the ropes I boot into CWM.

Sounds like you did not install CW. When you unpack the install, it should look like this:
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/recovery/command
If either of those is not exactly like that, it will not work.
Thanks rothnic,
that was the fix, got it working now
I've got CM, Titanium backup, and Vegan on the SD card ready to go, but when I hit power and volume, see a quick download icon, then nothing.
I feel like an idiot.
----
I went back, cleared the sd card and left the update.zip
and recovery/command.
Still nothing.
try moving to the CM files to the sdcard not the sdcard2 (i tried running it from the external microsd but moving to the internal sdcard seemed to work) also makesure the files on the sdcard are moved to the right place on the sdcard just like:
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/recovery/command
as described from rothnic's post in this thread
I am having the same problem....
I applied the latest update before trying this...
Any Ideas?
I'm running CM7 Nightly on an SD card for NC w/no problems. Its great; blue tooth even works!!! My problems is that I can't seem to get apps or the Marketplace on it. I followed the instructions on this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
What could I possibly be doing wrong? I put the SD card in my computer and then I do a regular file transfer of the correct gapps...zip file to the first partion titled boot. I'm not seeing any other partions but there are other files there. Do I have to unzip and copy contents to the boot partition? When I boot up again holding the n button and power button until the bootloader msg appears for about 2 seconds; it just boots up like normal. I don't see anything special saying its booting in recovery mode. Then I look and there isn't any apps or marketplace icon.
Plz help because I really like CM7 and would like to keep using it...maybe even flashing it on internal. Thanks so much!
I've been having problems with ICS and USB mass storage support, or lack of. Is there anything I can place on my micro SD. then copy it to the internal SD and boot from there?
Just grabbing at straws here!
Thansk
TF101 B50 by the way.

If you're still able to boot into the OS and is able to R/W files than yes, put the files on the micro sd, and using a file manager transfer it to internal sd.
Thanks for the help, but as a neebie, I need a suggestion on WHAT file to place on the internal SD that will I can boot from.
I still get the robot with the red triangle when I try to boot into recovery. I'm assuming that is because there wasn't a bootable file on the internal SD.
Does that make sense?

Oh I see you're on stock recovery, is the ROM stock also?
Only thing is download the latest firmware from Asus, extract the zip from within, renamed it EP101_SDUPDATE.zip and put it on the micro sd card. Boot into stock recovery and see if it will flash, maybe that will help get USB working again.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did what you told me and still nothing. When I try to boot into recovery, I still get the dead robot with the red triangle, then it boots stock.
IS there a particular folder on the SD or the Micro Sd I need to put the EP101_SDUPDATE.zip file into?
Is there a specific folder on the Intenal SD that the system boots from, that I could replace the update zip with a before ICS version?
Are these dumb questions?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me.
Forgot to mentioned, did you extract the zip from within the file you download?
I did extract the zip and placed it on the micro AND the internal SD in the Android folder.
IS there something else I should be doing?
This is driving me nuts.
Try it in the root of the sd card should automatically detect it there
Going on 2 weeks now
Is anyone else stuck in the situation I am? I cannot re-gain Mass Storage, SD support. When I try to boot into recovery, I get the Robot with the red triangle. The only way I can see my internal SD is through the stock file manager that is on the tablet. I don't know if I can move an appropriate file into a certain folder to get this thing to boot up to where I can reflash a ROM.
What is with this POS? I no longer have CWM and root after the OTA update. I e-mailes ASUS and they gave me the " pull the micro card, then do a wipe and re boot" Which did nothing but waste time. as you can probably tell, I am getting tired of dead ends on this Tf101 B50. does anyone have any idea what could have went wrong with the OTA update? Why did I loose the SD? and What can I do to fix/revert back to an earlier state.
self admitted noobie here...Feel free to kick the **** out of me!
Thanks for your help.
With a B50, see if you can get NVFlash working.
Download the NVFLash package

Get an NVFLash compatible ROM here

Sounds like your OTA update was fudged so you need to reflash the ROM. I thought people with root and CWM can't do OTA updates?
Does adb or apx mode work? If apx mode works, then you can NVFlash so it shouldn't be a problem.
If ADB works, you can gain root with vipermod so you can install CWM.
I used to have root access. But, My last flash stuck in boot. Had to Nv flash it back to stock. Then the OTA hit, I had no more root or NVflash. So that is where I am. I hope there is something I can do to fix this.
Thanks for the help
OK lets try this method.
The firmware you download, don't rename it.
On the root of your sd card made a folder name ASUS
inside that make a folder name Update
extract the zip file from inside the download firmware and put it in the Update folder.
Just cold boot the TF and see if you get a notification of update avaiable on the status bar.
Outside of that not sure anything can be done except RMA
Hey everyone, I recently decided that it IS worth it to root and flash a custom rom onto my 2.3.3 LG G2X but unfortunately I'm having a bit of trouble getting to that point. I just realized that I'm unable to post a link to the guides that I used until I have more posts :c Hopefully that won't be too relevant and if it is it won't be too difficult to find them since they're the only guides pertaining to rooting a 2.3.3 I could find. Anyway, after following those guides to the tee and reaching the final step of installing the zip from the sdcard, to much dismay I realized that the zip refuses to appear on the phone. If my laptop is to be trusted it is definitely on the root of the SD card so I have no idea why this is happening. Any suggestions or responses in general would be greatly appreciated!
I've also considered simply putting the zip on the phone's internal memory, but I'm kind of at a loss for how to get to it while the phone's in this state :/
Edit: I managed to access the internal sd card but unfortunately the zip does not show up there on the phone either
Also, if more information is needed please don't hesitate to ask! I'm new to android modifcations and wasn't really sure what else to put since the phone is pretty much entirely stock save for an lg driver to fix the white noise/clicking problem on calls and the apx drivers required for this process
I'm assuming that you used the NvFlash method so you should have clockworkmod recovery installed correct? If that is the case finding the rom you would like to flash will depend on the version of cwm recovery you used. The easiest thing to do is to place the rom (it's a zip file but do not unzip it) that you downloaded onto your internal sd card and also put a copy of it on your external sd card. Then reboot (or boot) into cwm recovery by holding the volume down button together with the power button until the LG logo changes to a different color and then let go of the buttons. It should take you to cwm recovery and from there use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select. Navigate to and then select "install zip from sd card", then "choose zip", and then the rom you placed on the sd card should be somewhere in that list. If it says choose zip from internal and choose zip from external you can pick either one and the rom should be in that list because you copied it to both. Hope that helps

I have been using Acer A510 (PA_CA rom) for 2 months. I haven't ever rooted it.
It can't boot suddenly, so I make it to Recovery mode to check whether I can do recovery.
At the beginning, I can boot to recovery mode but my SD card does not contain update.zip.
So it show red triangle android and shutdown automatically.
After I copy the update.zip file to sd card and boot again, I can't show anything on the screen.
Someone told me to plug A510 to PC, it show "APX" mode.
After I install Acer driver, my A510 cannot be detected anymore.
Now, it is recognized as an "Unknown Device"
So can I still unbrick my A510 device with PA_CA rom
Update status: after I press the reset button, I can see acer logo now but it stuck into the Logo screen and won't boot into OS.
Have u tried doing a factory reset? ( Volume+ (one dot) and Poweron and then toggle the rotation switch on and off a few times )
The easiest way I think is, send it to service.
^ I agree with jokerzlh.
I assume that your tab is still under warranty? Save yourself the headache and send it to service instead? (Especially since you really haven't tweaked or modded it anyway.
Yes, thanks for your reply.
I sent my A510 back to dealer.
Hi Try to format your SD Card using HP USB Format (google it) and put firmware
It will work

Seriously? How do you do it?
I haven't format the SD Card in front. I've only download the full Firmware from the Homepage from Acer, rename the file to "update.zip", copy this file on the root-directory of the SD-Card (via Card-Reader), insert the SD-Card back into the Tab, and start the TAB via
HOLD Vol ** ( or Vol* I didn't remember exacly) and HOLD POWER.
The Tab bootloader found the update.zip and start to flash.
