[Q] Google Play disappeared - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
Samsung Galaxy SII user here.
This afternoon I noticed the Google Play icon was missing from my homescreen.
I've searched for it but it isn't in my applications or in the manage applications list.
How do I get it back?
Please help!

Hello mate,
Check out this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550167 it has a link to the play stores apk file. If the link is down just do a Google search for it.
Hopefully installing it again should sort it

Ok downloaded, thanks.
However I get this on opening
Sorry!
The application Google Play Store
(process com.android.vending) has
stoped unexectedly. Please try
again
Force close

Settings->applications->manage apps->play store-> clear data
seems to have done the trick
Edit: Actually no, this hasnt worked!

Hmm, strange.. Have u got a custom rom installed atm?

did you do some modifications on your phone previously?

possible fix
I had the google play store disappear from my app drawer but could see it when you go under settings - apps
what i did is show all apps click on the google play one then select uninstall updates.
that worked for me my icon is back in my drawer now.

s Hi
I've just flashing my grab p1000 to custom rom ics aokp.. but the play store is missing. Then I download its .apk then installed it but it won't open. Is that normal? Or I should download again?
Thx for the help

Is it not accesed by the icon in the top right corner of the app draw? I know mine is on certain ics roms

[Q] GApps not working with CM10

Hi,
I'm currently using nk111's CM10 build, but the GApps are not working. I flashed this package: gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
After the first boot gmail was on my phone. I don't know if maps etc was on it too. But after some time I could not find gmail anymore.
Has anyone a suggestion for me?
Well the last time I checked there was no Gmail in the latest gapps package. Neither Maps. But you can download both from Google Play, so actually you do not have a problem

Ok that explains it But I can't find gmail in the play store. I live in Germany, maybe it's not available here?

Off the top of my head you could try this thread for a gmail apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...3/12 | THEME l MOD ] Transparent Widget Skins
I'm your huckleberry
I find the gmail app, if I browse the play store with my pc.
I think it's because of some license issues and google did not fix it.
Anyway now I have got my gmail back. Thanks guys

I think Gmail is named as Google Mail in Germany because of those license issues.
Yes, but I'm not able to install it nevertheless. I also can't find it using the Play Store app, but only with my pc browser.
I installed it using MarketEnabler.
try this... gapps will work...
dear guys...
after installation of cyanogen mod ROM,
install the small size of gapps file...
it will work for you....
thank you very much...

[Q] Getting all market apps to show up. Help please.

Okay so I've tried Googling this and posting this question in another thread but couldn't find/get an answer, so I thought I'd try to get help here. Awhile ago I installed either a 4.2 or 4.1 ROM (I can't remember), but whichever one it was, the market would show apps that weren't compatible with my 4.0 ROM. Such as GTA Vice City, The Sims 3, NBA 2K, etc. I then flashed back to a 4.0 ROM later on and those apps disappeared again. Now that I'm back on a 4.2 ROM, its not showing those apps. I was wondering what I can do to get those apps to show up again so I'm not forced to get the APK off the web. I know they're compatible with my phone because I've played those games before and they ran perfectly. Can anyone help?

HY, you can try wipe google play cache ,and restart the apk ,it might work, but if it doesnt try download google play on the web .PLEASE PRESS THANKS IF I HELPED!!!!!!
Are you sure that is the same 4.2 rom you use before? Maybe the app has been removed from the market temporarily. Use the Web play store to verify this. Good luck!

Its not the same 4.2 ROM that I had before and the apps haven't been removed at all. This ROM uses vending.apk instead of phomesky.apk and maybe that's why? Not sure. Thanks for your suggestions though.
