Q on un-rooting a Kindle - General Questions and Answers

Can't post in the devices forums yet, and yes I've searched, so here it goes...
I have a kindle fire that I rooted, flashed TWRP on, and then loaded this rooted 6.3 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569298
I got Google Play market and everything I want on it, now I would like to un-root it so that I can get back to playing the DRM videos from the Amazon store. Does anyone know how I can un-root from a rooted rom? Is it as simple as deleting superuser?

If you were returning it for service, i could understand unroot. But why do you need to unroot to watch DRM? The rooted rom should be just as capable of doing so as the stock one. Are you missing the amazon app? More details please.

You are correct, you cannot watch videos from the Amazon app store (or the google store? haven't tried yet) while you are rooted. I rooted to get the market on (only way), now I would like to un-root while still having both markets and video services. That's my ideal setup for this tablet.

Still looking for an answer to this.

Finally found my answer! It was as simple as renaming the su binary and rebooting.

[Q] Need Help, cant get google movies to work

[Q] Rooted Nook Tablet, No market

So I "successfully" rooted my Nook Tablet as per Indirect's instructions, but the NookandZergy batch did not give me any options to install any apps and my tablet basically performs exactly the same as before. When I run NookandZergy again, it says it's already been rooted, tries to do more, and tells me that I don't have the adb hijack followed by a prompt to block OTA's. It was pain in my rear just to get it to root in the first place and it seems to be all for naught and I don't want to have to re-root. Haven't found anyone else with this issue.
It was 1.4.0 and I followed and double-checked this process meticulously. May try to re-root anyway, but I expect much of the same.
I previously side-loaded Amazon App store, Go Launcher and a few other apps before the root if that could be an issue.
Solved?
So I un-rooted/factory-restored my Nook Tablet and re-rooted, this time with the wi-fi turned off and everything did as it was supposed to. I am gladly using my rooted tablet now. If anyone else has any issues, I believe I can help, so ask away.

Hulu and custom roms

Does anyone know why after putting on custom roms hulu breaks?
Also if i flash back to stock will that fix it? i dont want to hassle with it if it doesnt.
I see a modded version works but come one i want real support! i am a paying hulu customer...
Modded Hulu
Hulu breaks because it requires DRM verification that you can't get on custom roms. I know you said that you don't want to use the modded version but it works well. I have attached the link to the comment I made on the CM9 thread regarding it. Download the landscape version to browse in landscape. If you have ad away, follow the instructions in the second quote to allow hulu to work with ad blocking still on.

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up. The Play Store version of Hulu Plus was giving me a DRM error after installing CM9, so after some searching, I found a modded version that works. It is an older, less polished version and you have to disable ad blocking (use ad away) to get it to work, but it does. I am using the landscape version. If you add "ads.hulu.com" and "p.hulu.com" to your whitelist in adaway you'll still be able to block ads from other apps. I know i get tired of rebooting the phone when i want to turn off ads to watch hulu. Hope this helps.

If I flash back to stock will it work again? And why can't whatever drm check they do be rolled into custom rooms?
Also just looked everywhere for that guide to go back to stock and couldn't find it. Anyone know here it is?

*EDIT*
From what i read is TWRP doesnt like to flash the stock roms. but CWM does it fine. I will have to switch over to CWM as i have TWRP installed currently.
Before i go to all this work i would really like to make sure that hulu works on stock with an unlocked bootloader.
Went back to rooted stock... hulu works fine.
By now most of you know the drill
But it went like this.
Flash CWM... Do this via fastboot, NOT ROM MANAGER!
Flash Stock
Reflash CWM... I think stock breaks the first flash
Flash root
profit.
Thank you to all the devs that work so hard.
One question remains.
Why does custom roms break hulu and is there a way to change that?
EEK i am a bonehead.... i never actually streamed a video from hulu i just got past the DRM prompt. I have a different message preventing me from watching hulu now. Something about Streaming Unavailable. make sure i have the latest official update.... :/
*EDIT*
A quick search finds this.
GRRRR
Apparently hulu doesn't work on unlocked bootloaders.
Man that pisses me off at hulu... They might lose a subscriber over this.

I hate to dig up old threads. But I was able to get hulu from market to work on my phone. Unlocked and cm10.1 I'm going to try this method tonight on my tablet. If it works. It should no issues. We will have hull working. I'll report back tonight

[Q] Deleted stock apps..4.1.2 Update fails..

I got all excited and mistakenly deleted a few stock apps shortly after I rooted and updated to JB several months ago..before I started freezing them with Titanium...and now I'm not able to take the OTA 4.1.2 update. I'm Voodoo'd up and have Safestrap and all that and did the temp unroot in Voodoo and uninstalled recovery in Safestrap yet I believe the fact that a few stock apps are missing is causing my problem.
So, what would be the least painful way to restore the stock bloatware for 4.1.1, still retain root, and allow the 4.1.2 update to install? I've read a million threads but I'm still not seeing the clearest path quite yet. Thanks.
**edit**
I've gone through and found what I think are most all the apps I deleted..so now the question is it possible to obtain those versions and put them into the system folder?
Amazon Kindle
Amazon MP3
Audible
MC3
NFL Mobile
Real Racing 2
Slacker Radio
Youtube (system version)
Zappos
If your on 4.1.1 just use mats util to flash ICS stock reroot and protect with voodo then update. Be careful because unless u already have root you can not (as far as I know) go back to ICS after 4.1.2 and get root again if u mess up. So make backups and good luck. Also check this out if u did not update yet

[Q] Lost Android Market or Google Play Store

I have a Samsung Infusion 4G (ATT), that I rooted and tried to install 4.4.2 Beanstalk. It said it didn't take and I ended
up with a stripped down version without "Android Market" or "Play Store". I want to install at least the apps I need to
get Rom Manager going again....any ideas
NOOBIE to phones
I have been searching, but haven't found an answer yet.
Thank you for any help or advice.
