I'm not sure why this happens this way but just about every time I go to compose a new SMS, as soon as I start to type in the main text field, it puts up the 'select' cursor which is the little blue box that hangs over the 'W' key on the keyboard.
If I need to start typing and the first word starts with a W, I have to wait about 5 seconds for this cursor to disappear so I can then hit the letter. How the hell do I remove this and stop it from happening? I'm not sure what to look for in the settings but as of yet haven't seen anything. I'm on the latest version and it's been happening for the past few revisions.
Oh and I'm using Smart Keyboard Pro if it's possibly a keyboard issue and not the fault of Go SMS Pro itself.
[EDIT] I think the problem is that when I go to compose a new message, the cursor is blinking in the field to type but my keyboard isn't on the screen. When I click the field to get the keyboard to pop up, then it brings up the cursor which you'd normally see if you want to select text and/or past something from the clipboard. I just tested in Dolphin HD and this doesn't happen this way as the keyboard presents itself as soon as I click in the url field.

On my AT&T Tilt, I have recently found the on screen keyboard popping up every time I enter a text field. It's particularly annoing since it pops up at every field. For example, it comes up when I move to the username field on a page, I turn it off, then when I move to the password field it pops up again. I don't believe this was happening until a couple of days ago. Since I use the hardware keyboard most of the time, I have no desire for the onscreen keyboard to pop up and take up screen space.
Is there a way to stop the onscreen keyboard from automatically opening whenever I move to a text field?

use null keyboards; see my related roundup at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=368895
Note that it's pre-WM5 only and I can't guarantee all titles are compatible with WM5+.
just checked the link; PPCT's server is down now. Here's a cross-copy: http://pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18616
Thanks, I'll give that a try! It
seems rather sad to me that Windows Mobile doesn't have a way built in to tell it not to show the onscreen kb unless you ask for it. Especially on devices like the kaiser with built in hardware keyboards.
Hi guys, im using a fuze, it has the HTC Stock Rom on it, the thing that pisses me off about it is the damn text messaging in landscape, this is what happens, i receive a text message, i want to reply, so i put it in landscape mode by sliding the screen so i can type on the keyboard, when i start typing the freakin dialer shows up and it gets in the way, is there any way to fix this. its so annoying
Simple. If you open the SMS from your mate first, so you're in the "instant-messaging-a-like" dialogue screen, THEN open the keyboard, you won't get that problem.
If you open the keyboard whilst you're still at the HOME screen, then you'll get the landscape version of the HOME screen, and typing stuff in there will automatically take you to the dialler.
The thing to remember is that if you're looking at emails, SMSs, the Weather or whatever in the tabs in the HOME screen, the application you're using is the HOME app (Manilla), so opening the keyboard up is just going to get you that landscape version of HOME with all the application tabs. It's only when you actually open up an SMS / Email etc. that you enter the appropriate application, and at that point the keyboard is "owned" by that app and opening the keyboard up will get you the landscape version of that app instead of the landscape version of HOME.
Hope that helps.
haha, well i guess i kind of worded it wrong, what i meant to say was when i get the text message a little box shows with the message, when i hit reply which is in the lower left corner it enters the messaging application once there i put the typing cursor in the text area, when i slide up the screen to use the keyboard it kicks me out of the messaging app and then takes me to the dialer. once i close the dialer then i can continue typing
Turn off the notification box. When you get a new SMS, you get a green indicator against the SMS tab on the HOME screen anyway, so it's not necessary. When you get an SMS, it'll still play a sound and give you an indicator on the top bar. This'll get round your problem.
coming from a tilt and many other windows mobile devices im very used to the way the text messaging works, i really like the pop up notification more than just a green number.
Same Problem with MDA VARIO II
I got this problem with the MDA Vario II and I still get it with the TOUCH PRO
It would be great to fix it.
When ever I am starting to text my Fuze will go to the same screen as if you slid open the keyboard(email, message, favorites, web search, appointment, tasks, note, and contact) description of the screen. And sometimes it will also got to contacts or it will go to my keypad to my phone.....I am getting a little frustrated does anyone have any answers????? Help me!!!
You're in the wrong forum here guy; the Fuze is the Touch Pro, not the Touch Diamond.
thread moved
hope this helps
I have the same issue.. It seems like when ever I get a txt and push reply and the slide the keyboard out once I start typing it goes to the phone dial pad menu
This has happened to me a few times. It only happens when I slide the keyboard open before the text message reply screen is fully loaded. If I let the screen completely load and then slide the keyboard and start typing I have no problems. So just give it a couple of seconds before sliding the phone open. Hope this helps!
I'm pretty sure I GOT IT!!!!!

Honda I have a question for ya??? Do you have any form of voice command on your phone?????
I've got voice command disabled and I have this issue all the time. I basically have to start any text in portrait mode, wait a few seconds... and then slide open the keyboard and proceed as normal.
It sucks because if I'm looking at a text in TF3D and hit 'menu' and 'reply' then flip the keyboard open, I'll even have time to type a few letters before I'm looking at the stupid a$$ landscape TF3D screen. Then I have to hit 'Messages' and tap on the message to type my reply in the threaded view.
Would love to use a major function of my phone without having to hesitate!

That's the way I've been doing it on my Sprint TPro. It's become second nature now so I don't even have to think about it any more.
Yep.

FWIW, I have this exact same issue and find it pretty annoying. Guess ya just gotta wait a few seconds before sliding open the keyboard...
I keep having this issue even on stock rom before root. everytime my txt hits either split message over 160, or i try tap the screen to change a word, it scrolls to the top of conversation and gets kind of annoying.
anyway to fix
No but using the hardware "B" key can get you back to the bottom really fast

Anyone have an issue where the Samsung keyboard will stop responding to SwiftFlow, also known as "swiping"?
For example, sometimes when I want to input text, the Samsung keyboard appears, but instead of being able to swipe through letters, It will only detect "tapping" or the first letter I touch.
The simple fix is to hit the "back" button on the phone which will close the keyboard, then bring the keyboard back and SwiftFlow/Swyping will work again. The problem is I seem to be running into this a few times a day during heavy use, so it's obviously annoying when it happens.
