[Q] shall i root my Galaxy s Plus (i9001)???? - General Questions and Answers

Hello, im not into rooting, kernel and flash and stuff??
But i want to get better performence and TouchWiz 4.0 on my Samsung. So can u guys tell me what rooting really is? im a noob. And what i should use on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus if rootinh. And maybe how to get Touchwiz 4.0 instead of TouchWiz 3.0.
-Thanks guys

What is root
With root you have full acccess to the system.
You can modify the the hardware settings.
For get Touchwiz 4 you must install the touchwiz 4 manager:
i'm new and can't post links, you must put before the adresse http: //

My opinion:
When you have root you should install a recovery (CWM - Clockworkmod) ,
and flash a custom rom, because the stock rom (from the manufactur) is very buggy...
Press thanks

Hello, I'm some what experienced at flashing. Ya first u want to get root then you need a recovery installed such as clockwork mod. And a custom rom with the launcher you want would be ideal. Its not so much that the manufacturer's default software is bad. It just hinders u sometimes. ^_^

[Q] Rooting my android

hi Experts,
i tried to find the answer from the forum, took me hours but no answer. That is why I am posting this thread.I want to root my HTC G1.But I don't want to use custom roms.On iphone when I jailbreaked my phone i did not go for another rom ,i used the same that came with it.My question is if I root my android device ,do I really need to install a new rom or I can use the same that came with it but will gain some power of having root.
sincerely,
ml
You don't need to but why not use a rom that has more features than stock.
Thanks for reply.I want to but afraid of make the device too slow.i can still remember when I upgraded ios 3.0.2 to ios4 on my iphone ,it was quiet annoying to use.I just want to root to move my apps to the sd card.
Installing a custom rom, normally, doesn't make your phone goes slow... but it gives it a HUGE boost and add features!!! And Android is not Ios 4...

[Q] Android Starter?

Hi everyone i got a few questions on Android terms:
I google much and i know what ROMS and rooting are but still,
1. What is KE7 that everyone keeps talking about? is it a ROM?
2. What is the stock ROM for a Galaxy SII ?
3. Is a customized ROM such as cm7 usually gonna change the whole user interface? or just modifiy the original UI?
If so, wouldnt a launcher such as ADW launcher be unnecessary as it already has modified your UI?
4. What is a kernal?
Thanks a lot guys
Also....what is KF1/KF2 ?
please help
they are the firmwares that samsung release which other roms are based on.

3. A complete ROM will always bring along a new interface, which might be the same one you have actually using, but could also be a completely different one.
4. You mean kernel?
Its the system core.

[Q] Help Please! SGS2 - ROM - UHLPG

Hey guys, sorry but I cannot seem to find any information on this.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, i9100, and I want to root it.
The problem I am having is that I am a [noob] yes I admitted it, but I cannot seem to find the ROM for my device.
I attached a screenshot of my device's about section.
Now I know that the steps are to use ODIN, and then download a CF root, but I can't seem to find my ROM. I am from an island called Trinidad & Tobago (Caribbean) and I have updated my device to ICS.
Can anyone please explain to me, what the hell do I have to do to root this device? I want to install a custom rom, if anyone can vouch for a nice smooth rom that looks great!
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

This method needs to have an external card to your sii. Put the files both in external and internal card too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Sent from my GT-I9100
Now if u want to install a custom rom install first a custom kernel for samsung ics 4.0.3 (not aokp aosp) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702166 and after install rom. U can do this using the temporary cwm u downloaded before. Is the safest way this because custom kernels had injected cwm and not using temporary cwm. Read well the instructions of the developer before installing , also check before installing a custom rom if it has a safe kernel because excists a brick bug at samsung roms 4.0.4 and +.

[Q] Newbie Questions

hi i'm a samsung galaxy ace plus s7500 user with gingerbread 2.3.6 OS
i have a few questions and i hope all of experts, forums members and anyone can help me
the questions;
1. i plan to upgrade my phone OS from gingerbread 2.3.6 to anything upgraded OS that suitable, how i 'm gonaa do it ?:
a) do i have to used a custom ROM?
b) does the modification can affect overall system?
c) what is the pro and cont of using it?
i hope all the experts, forums member and anyone can teach me step by step about this thing and i pray that god bless all of you..
please help me
to do that you must flash a custom rom since gingerbread is the latest official rom exists.
to flash a custom rom you just follow the guide in general section (procedure is root your phone -> flash a custom recovery -> flash custom rom through recovery)
by overall system what do you mean? you can overclock(increase processor speed and such), by using a custom rom most of the time you'll have more free RAM since the official rom you're using has a lot of processes you don't need running in the background.
pros - much faster phone, you can install stuff that only works on newer versions of OS (such as google chrome and root only applications)
cons - if you choose an unstable rom it might have bugs, either way known bugs should be posted in the thread,
you can brick your phone if you do something wrong (although most of the time fixable but requires much effort from your side)
and you need to learn the process and what you're actually doing.
good luck im no expert but I flashed a few roms on my ace plus.

Installing Custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy Exhibit SGH-T599

Hello all and good morning!
I am fairly new to custom ROM installing and cannot find any info (updated) on installing a custom ROM to my SGH-T599 device!!!:crying: I could really use some help as the stock ROM for this "Galaxy 3 mini" knockoffs stock ROM is horrible.
I do have ODIN installed (v3.10.6) but am lost as how to begin to use it.
Here are some questions I have:
-How to download custom ROM?
-Is a backup already on my phone?
-Which ROM is best? (and compatible)
Thanks in advance for any help
EDIT: If i could just have an app or program to completely change the UI of my phone that would work too
