Hey all, I'm new here hopefully this was the right place to post. Before I go ahead and install windows in bootcamp, anyone know if Odin will work properly? I've read conflicting reports everywhere and just want to make sure.

I keep reading about this method, but no one actually takes the time to explain how to get started doing it?
Like is it something that you have to do from your PC? Is it something you do from within ConnectBot?
What I need to know is what steps do I have to take to get to the process where I THEN start to enter in the coding?

Thank you. So far this is a great help. I'll make contact if I have any other issues regarding this.
Ok so one of the things that I'm not sure about is when I plugin my phone, I get a message saying that it's installing drivers for ADB. But then after a little while, it then says that it failed. I also cannot get HTC Sync to work either for some odd reason.
Running Windows 7 64bit.
Hi
Can't help you anymore. I'm running win xp and i don't really know about adb.
But i'll try to make a search for you.
What's your phone ? 1.5, 1.6....2.2 ?
Hi
Here's the link for hero driver (win7 64bit) http://handheld.softpedia.com/progDownload/HTC-Hero-Drivers-Download-81097.html
Hope it helps you
Hey guys Sorry for repost of the same questions im freaking out here... I just did some research (something i should have done before posting first , but im in freak out mode)....
Im stuck in bootloop after using the latest TnT lite...I would like to get that back .
I researched how to address this, however i see a couple of ways to get this thing running again, here is what I found:
Using Nvflash got this on TegraTabs site... does this require using my computer?
Here XDA... I saw that someone had the same issue and Clockworkmod Recovery was suggested.
OK this is where i am comfused If i use Clockwork I need my windows (vista) computer correct ? and it looks like I am going to be using command lines also (not a big deal for me)... I saw that i am going to need android SDk and also tegra drivers as well?
I am not looking for the easiest way looking for the best way ... Sorry for asking again however being a noob to Android I just want to make sure that I am doing things right.. is there any other information that would help you guys help me? let me know... again thanks you guys... still in freak out mode and dont want for my money to have been thrown away...I appreciate the help....you guys rock

Best way is to download the Android SDK (to get ADB), the Tegra drivers and NVidia's SDK which includes nvflash. You can get the Tegra stuff here or over at our sister site, tegratab.com (we started putting stuff up there while waiting to get our own forums here on XDA). To get nvflash access, you'll need to modify the Android SDK's INF file (if you're on Windows). Nvflash can get you out of almost anything. Best to back up your images using nvflash before you flash anything else, that way you've got a copy of what's on YOUR tablet as it comes, stock. Since you're stuck in a bootloop, I'd guess you no longer have any stock partitions so maybe just pick up the stock images from over on tegratab.com. They should be fine for you but it's nothing like having a pristine copy of your own images.
Hope that helps. Not sure if I gave enough detail but shout if you need more. We have some really good people here.
Yes you need a PC for NVflash. If clockwork fails then your going to have to NV flash back to stock.
Hey guys I would like to thank you for your responses
I was actually able to bring back my Gtab with the help of forum member dcom222 in this thread

I plan to incorporate his method into my TnT Lite post, there's some good stuff in there.
Hey guys, I really want to install ROMs, but I'm pretty much a newb of this. I looked in the development section and found out how to download ROM manager and what-not, but I'm not sure, what is NVFLASH and can I download via Mac?

Only Windows and/or Linux. If you're running Windows under Boot Camp or emulation on your Mac, that should work too.
Also, please search a bit before making a new thread. I'm probably the 19th person to answer that question
Was doing some searching, couldn't find it.
I don't have bootcamp on my mac, so I'm assuming there won't be a way for me to install ROMs then unless I have a windows computer/Linux?
You just need a windows PC to use nvflash to install clockworkmod recovery onto your phone. Ask a friend to use their PC for literally 5 minutes.
If not, get a copy of Windows and install it on your mac via BootCamp. Having Windows as an option on your computer can come in handy (as you can see now).
Yeah, I can ask a friend, but knowing me I'd take forever. I'm new to this and not sure how to do this much. I know an employeee at t-mobile that knows how to do it. I can ask him for a favor and show me how to save my stock ROM, I did it before and it didn't come out too nice.
Hey guys Ive looked all over for the answer to the question but cannot seem to find it anywhere. My problem with rooting the phone is not the phone itself but my two laptops. I followed QBKING's youtube video (newest one) exactly however im stuck when it comes to placing the CWM flash file into the PDA section. On my laptops it shows as recovery.img vs the image that is on his page. I need to know what program needs to be installed on my pc to change this problem and allow me to procced with rooting. Also, if your wondering or dont already know, when you click browse that recovery.img does not pop up. Thanks in advanced:fingers-crossed:
Nothing? Maybe a few extra details would help? Pc is a Toshiba running Windows 7 64bit......let's help get me rooted!!!

Google the vzw message that pops up, there is a tutorial out there on how to use odin to get it done. Heimdall doesnt really work out of the box, so to speak. You will need to install virtualbox and a "trial" version of windows 7 in order to use odin. Follow the tutorial that u find in the web search, it provides all the files and ODIN3 is very easy to use. I will post a link for you tomorrow to the tutorial. I soft bricked mine trying to OTA with a custom kernel. :-\ so i know this method works for sure. Good luck and bump this thread with any questions you have and I'll try to help.
