[Q] Are any US version LTE phones compatible in Germany? - General Questions and Answers

I know in general quad band phones are compatible between US/Europe - that is compatible across GMRS, EDGE, and 3G nets. But LTE seems like another story... I can not find a single US version LTE phone that has the frequency bands for both US and Europe. I am going to be in Europe (Germany - using Telekom's LTE 800 net) for about 9 more months then probably moving to the US. So I am hoping to find a phone that is compatible across LTE as well.
Any ideas??
I have researched this quite a bit, but really have not come across a single model that will likely work.

[Q] Will this LTE phone (or any) work in Europe?

I am finding so much conflicting info about LTE phones... I know in the US, they support LTE 700. In Germany, Telekom uses LTE 800. What I can't find are good technical specs on any phones. Obviously a US manual is going to state LTE 700. But I can't find techniucal details on the actual chip. Maybe the freq coverage is such that the phone will support both LTE 700 and LTE 800?
Can an expert please advise me if the Skyrocket (or any other really good LTE phone) will work in Germany?
I know there is now a Europe version of this phone (GT-I9210) but I want to save $ and buy in US if possible, if the US version will work.

No, the Skyrocket doesn't support the LTE bands used in the EU.
LTE frequencies used in Germany are 800Mhz and1800Mhz LTE bands and 2600Mhz TDD LTE band.

As far as I know, there is no smartphone working in the US and in Germany atm

International "Exynos" AWS Support (TMo, Wind)

It looks as if based on this link here on GSM Arena that the international GS4 is still not even at least supporting 21Mbit hdpa for AWS bands. Can anyone corroborate? There goes any plans of importing the Exynos version for T-Mo yet again. I wonder if the SoC supports at least 21Mbit AWS, but the antenna is not engineered to support those frequencies as they are considered not needed for that version.
Any concrete info on this? Not that I would allow any phone to pry my Nexus 4 from my hands even cold and dead until the next Nexus, but I'm interested nonetheless. I find the Exynos SoC and the device itself intriguing enough to ..perhaps... consider a fiscally irresponsible secondary purchase..

LTE band change for J327u Exynos

Hello everyone. As many of us first posters here, I have a problem:
I've bought an north american J327U from someone I know, and that person only used it at home with their wi-fi. It's got an Exynos chipset, and no support for the LTE bands from where I live in (which are completely different from the USA's LTE bands).
After quite a bit of research, I found here and elsewhere methods to change LTE support for Qualcomm devices, but had no luck finding any for Exynos devices. Is there any way to do the same thing for devices with Exynos chipset, or am I stuck with no LTE? I also know it deppends on the hardware support for that, in my case I would need support for bands 3 (1800mhz), 7 (2600mhz) and 28 (700mhz). The phone covers none of those.
My device is not yet rooted, but I'm fine with doing so if needed.

Should I wait for the US version of this phone, or buy an international one? Will it be any differences in specs or in 4G/LTE bands for the US version? And how long does it usually take between the international release and US release? Thanks!
The only two bands across T-Mobile and AT&T that I see missing from gsmarena specs are Band 30 (AT&T, not sure how important this is) and Band 71 (hardly any phones have this, so should not miss it)
The rest (Bands 2,4,5,12,17,66) seem to be supported
I've seen these specs, but they are selling now several variants - South American and some others, and it's hard to know what bands they have because models numbers are different than on GSM arena site....

I have the A70 and it's a South American version and I love it. You'll probably never notice a difference ever, with the exception of Samsung pay.
That will not work with phones outside your home region.
If that doesn't bother you than go for it.
If it does bother you than wait... or wait a bit longer for the 5G version that's just around the corner.

Just make sure that the phone you buy has the right frequencies ....Example SM-A515W (Canada) would work whereas SM-A515GN/DS might not.
spend some research time on the frequencies and you'll be fine ....
If you buy from B&H Camera they make it simple and have international versions that work here.

Enabling newer LTE bands

Hello all,
Im running LineageOS 17 on a Samsung S5 (G900T) and currently on the T-mobile network. At my location T-mobile seems to provide the only decent signal on their new 600 MHz band 71 which seems to be getting utilized more across their network, especially in rural areas. My phone does not support this band by default.
Has anyone recently had any luck following any of the older threads such as https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-bands-to-samsung-galaxy-s5-qualcomm.2948822/ in order to enable support of newer LTE bands on older devices? Or, on the flip side does someone happen to know if there are actual hardware limitations that cannot be changed in the firmware when it comes to newer LTE bands?
