No it doesn't.
If you were using HTC or Motorola , you would still be unlocking the bootloader.
If you're angry towards samsung for not releasing ICS for our fit, your anger is completely unjustified.
You can't buy a low end phone with crap specs and expect it to run hd games and get all the updates.

Hello,
I'm not very keen on starting this kind of thread, but comparative information is pretty scarce on the internet.
I'm planning on getting my girlfriend an Android phone soon and I'm stuck between these 3 models due to my budget:
1. Sony-Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini
2. Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570
3. Motorola BackFlip
The Xperia was what she originally saw and liked, but in my opinion its not very good. The Samsung appears to be the safest bet, and the Motorola is something i've just seen 10 minutes ago and seems very good on paper (hardware-wise) but that screen seems too small and the keypad is not something she (or i) would like very much. Plus that flip mechanism i'm sure will not last very long.
Now i turn to you, the community, for opinions. I'm a bit stuck between these. Any input would be great!
Thanks!

The best for me is x10 mini...
1. X10 mini has many stuff u cn do n u cn root it n update to 2.3 cyanogen... Cons: lag of multitouch n qvga
2. Galaxy mini has ginger update too, but i dunt understand too much abt rooting it... Cons: qvga
Best : Able to overclocked to 800mhz
3. Backflip... I tink is lame...
But for a budget hvga fone, i recommended optimus one or x8...

Thank you for your reply. I know about Optimus One and it is superior to those 3 that i've mentioned. Unfortunately it's $35 US more expensive than my budget (my budget being what those 3 cost). This is a spontaneous decision and there is not a lot of money to be spent. She doesnt care that much about the technical side but she would enjoy the apps and everything and i could certainly help her discover more about Android. She prefers the smaller devices as well. So no optimus one.
I might just end up with the samsung. Im still not sure.

My wife has a backflip, I got it for her in July and its been durable but broken a few otterbox cases (just the front piece). The best rom has been cyanogen mod 7.1 even tho it frequently freezes it has performed way better than the stock 1.5 & 2.1 that Motorola provides. If a good phone is above your budget, just spend the extra lil bit. It'll be worth it in the end.

Hi I have just heard back from insurance company to say that they don't have my desire hd in stock and I have to agree on a cash settlement instead. After some negotiation we have agreed on 280. I have got four phones in mind and just wanted to know if anyone on here can advise the pros and cons of each one in order to help me choose. Phones are as follows:
Sony Ericsson Xperia play.
Lg Optimus 2x
Sony Ericsson Xperia arc s
Or my desire hd again.
Both the play and the arc s I have found really good deals for. Main thing I'm looking at is overall performance and ability to root and run custom rooms.
Any info would be great
Cheers
the Arc S is a damn sexy phone. Id go with that if u can get a good deal for it.
But the Optimus 2x has a Tegra 2 dual core processor and good dev support as well. Both will get official ICS also.

yeah cheers just had a look at the arc s now, and it is very nice! that being said the optimus is very similar in terms of performance and price. trying to find a phone similar to them both that has slightly more memory and can be rooted
galaxy r would be a good choice if u are willing to sacrifice full hd recording and 3mp less cam !!
lg optimus2x would be the best choice for cheapest as the priceerformance ratio for optimus is quite high !!
+ the optimus 2x would be getting official ics in march !!
and many custom roms are also available !!
but i would like to ask !
dont you have any other options other than four of these ?!
!

haha, yeah, there are other phones out there. Ive narrowed down what i think are the best phone for under £250. really tempted to increase the budget and go for galaxy s2 now..
For me Sony Ericsson Xperia arc s is too big and galaxy is better choice...
Maybe is so big, but still for me Sony Ericsson Xperia arc s is better option.
The Arc looks so friggin' sweet.. can't go wrong with that one, I wish they'd bring it to Sprint.

In my advice. You will go with Sony Ericsson Xperia arc. Much better than others in terms of features and reliability as well as the market worth also counts. Desire HD would be a good set but it will be less expensive too
I can highly recommend the Arc S - just make sure you use a custom rom and not the official Sony ICS!
Get a nexus!!
I think the only disadvantages of Desire HD is low battery capacity (1230 mah) , high weight (164 g) and low lcd brightness but larger Ram(HD:768 MB Arc:512MB) ROM(HD:1.5 GB Arc S:320 MB) and about cpu I heard that arc s has a same cpu speed as arc (1 Ghz) but overclocked (to 1.4 Ghz).
You could probably find a bargain on eBay or Craigslist for a cheaper Galaxy S2. I bought a Sprint Galaxy Nexus off of Craigslist for $160 / £100 (I believe that is the price in GBP, not sure.)
I am waiting for Sony ION to come in White.
Super awesome looks.
depends on what functinalities you're interested in. For me, as a game maniac xperia play is the only choice (actually that's my current phone)
Arc S is the most sexy but Lg Optimus 2x is beter more internal storage and dual core cpu... I've got an Arc S but now I would buy Lg if they have the same price
Go for the Arc S I know a friend who has one and it's great. :good:
you buy cheap s2
Please don't resurrect old threads as I highly doubt the OP is still deciding on a phone 9 months later. Plus the sticky in this section is to be used for all such questions. Closed.

Hi guys,
I am kind of confused which dual core cellphone to go for... I need some help from you guys..
Below are my options:
Motorola Razr XT910
Samsung Galaxy SII
HTC Sensation XE
Sony Xperia S
BTW, I am from India... any other optioins?
I am using Galaxy S2.
But, I think Xperia S looks good.
Save Money and buy HTC from One Sersies, if not Xperia S will be best.
S2 is a good choice, Touchwiz makes it easier to use. I haven't tried the others but I've heard that Motorolas blur sucks. Xperia looks good but I don't know anything else about it.
Check some reviews and see which suits you the best.

Don't be afraid of the thanks button!
Sony Xperia S!!
Or Samsung Galaxy S2!!
But I prefer the Xperia S, more beautiful, with HD screen, 12Mpx camera (I know, it doesn't mean a thing, but Sony is really good with camera lens), Timescape is more beautiful than TouchWiz. The S2 is quite common. But the Xperia S has a quite high SAR :/ I don't know if you care about that.
I would go with Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation. Both are very nice and have been upgraded officially to ICS. Although if you plan to flash it with a custom ROM right out of the box that doesn't matter much.
I have an S2 and I've heard nothing but praise for it for anyone really. The Razr has good hardware but Motoblur ruins the experience. I'd wait a bit, in two weeks they should be releasing info on the S3
I would go with the s2 for now but rather wait for the s3 or the quadrant core optimus 4x hd
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Sony Xperia S
SAMSUNG GALAXY S II or wait for SAMSUNG GALAXY S III!!
Xperia S is best choice!
Definitely Samsung Galaxy SII I'd say.
Thanks a lot guys!!.. I think i am gonna go for SII
Advice
Sumsung galaxy sⅡ is cool。。You should better buying it.
Which is overall better? What OS do they run on?
bump!
Actually I'd recommend the P over both that you mentioned. You'll get a larger screen than the U and newer UI features than the Arc S for around the same price.
Neither!
I've been an SE android user for a few years and repeatedly they lag behind their competitors it keeping you up to date, even more so now that they have unlocked their bootloaders so that the dev community can do their customer retention work for free.

Definitely Arc S, but comparing Arc S to Xperia P would me more fair and I actually think, that Xperia P is better than Arc S. But it doesnt have a separate forum on XDA....it is attached to Xperia S'forum.
According to my research the Galaxy S3 beat the iphone 5 as best phone of 2012. I have an EVO 3D on Sprint. My upgrade is due April 1st.
You guys really know your stuff and I am sure by April there will be something that beats out S3?
Could you guys point me in the right direction? I know that I don't want the DNA. No removeable battery. Not the best battery life, only 16gb?? No. Way.
Help me out here.
I don't know exactly when but there are rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S4
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
^+1 . S4 is dated around may. Or droid DNA is great .still there is time . Let's see if anything new comes in (nothing from Sammy anytime soon !) And also consider xperia Z .
PS - talking about phones which beats s3 , there are already plenty of em . Note 2 , optimus G , xperia Z , droid DNA .
life!
Xperia Z <3 or Nexus 4 but no sd card.
Tapatapatap i9001
Xperia Z seems to have been extremely well received at CES in many ways it looks a better proposition than HTC DNA (it has mico-SD and also 13 mp camera. The design looks quite good as well. In my opinion before S4 comes out this will be the new king.
Thanks for the input guys. I'm sure we are all excited about upgrading come summer to something great. And that's the thing. We all want the next BEST because we will be locked in for another 2 years.
The names you guys mentioned that beat the S3 really don't count because these phones were released at later dates and the fact that they still are being compared to the king Of 2012 speaks volumes for samsung S series.
What I see when I read about xperia z, droid dna, note 2, and the like are newer phones and phablets that push the envelope, BUT have a drawback! The S3 not only pushed the envelope, but really does not have a drawback.. Its only drawback is that it's becoming outdated.
When I get my next phone I want it to be EVERYTHING the S3 was and MORE. great battery life, available on every carrier, fast updates to latest software, fewest bugs, 1080p screen with high ppi without the battery life being killed like the DNA's battery gets killed, plenty of space and upgradable to 64gb sd card, and the BEST camera 13mp or whatever with high quality lense!
That's just a few of the things the the S3 set the standard for. When I look at my friend's s3... I see a near perfect phone. Mine needs to be the same...
Are we in agreement?
My bets are the next Nexus device will be a Motorola being that it's now part of Google. I expect it to beat everything currently available. Sammy S4? I look forward to seeing what that's like.
If you view the Galaxy S3 as perfect, why not go for the Galaxy S4 because around that time it would surely be released or announced

The Sony Xperia Z or ZL is due out in March with the same if not better specs than the S4

No specs have been released on the S4 yet, so hold off there son. If and when they get released and the xperia z is better, thats what I'll be getting
Xperia will do well for the 1st quarter of this year, but I doubt it'll be able to cope with the GSIV and to the next HTC One flagship.

Based on what, buddy? Your magic crystal ball? The GSIV will obviously come out with the Exynos 5 Octa, A15 and A7 !
Look, like I said before. Whatever is the best available is what we will all get.
NOBODY looking to upgrade this summer needs to act like a fanboy of ANY company whether it be HTC, SAMSUNG, OR SONY.
Whatever is the best is what we will all end up with. The key is to have patience. The xperia z will most likely be available first.. The people stupid enough to buy it before officially knowing the specs anf benchmarks of the GS4 are the ones who will inevitably become fanboys if the xperia turns out to be subpar to the gs4.
Patience!
