storage isnt full, but i cant copy anything to my phone or save anything.. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

my phones storage has plenty of space, a few gigs left on both internal and external memory....but it wont let me save any files, take pictures, or transfer files from my computer to phone...anyone know of this and got a fix? im running the ics leak, and am trying to update it, but cant put the rom on my SD card..

?? anyone...

Connect your phone to your computer and open up your folder option and "show hidden files and folders". Look for a trash folder on your sd card and delete it.

[Q] My apps won't load after switching SD card

I just got a legit sandisk 32gb class 4 off of newegg and before swapping I transferred everything from the external SD folder to my internal, did the swap, formatted in the phone then swapped the contents of my old external SD to the new one. Rebooted a few times but my apps will not load. All my apps are saved to phone or internal SD card as well.
Does anyone know why?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
copying from external to internal would not have copied hidden files.. and many of the apps may have had their own direcdtories on external sd with hidden files..
i always do this is pc by backing up old sd to a directory on the pc (make sure to have view hidden and system files on)
they copy back to a new sd card..
double check what was copied by doing a check disk on the old and new cards and comparing number of files and directories including hidden.. should be the same.
Even if show hidden files was checked off within the phone options itself?

I keep all the .apk files in a seperate folder on my PC ,as I switch phones to the newest thing once or twice a month,I swap my SD card to new phone, then reinstall the programs from the .apk folder using Astro or whatever your choice of software ,the saved files will find the newly installed progs with hidden files and all,you dont even have to reinstall key codes, passwords or nada,If you are a SICK phone Junkie like me,it will save you lots of stress...Vegas
Sorry, is there a way to move this to the Q and A section? my XDA app doesn't show the Q&A area.

How to transfer to a larger SD Card?

i did search the forums for an answer, but im running into a problem that hasnt been encountered by others. I would like to switch my sd card from a 4gb to a 8gb. if i just copy and paste the files, i get a pop up advising that theres a file/folder thats name is too long, and it will only skip it. I dont want to leave behind any important files. any help with this?
aside from my music and photos( the easy part) 75% of my apps are installed to the sd card

Just copy your current SD Card (4GB) contents to the PC. Then format your new SD Card (8GB). After that just copy the contents back onto the new SD Card, and load it back inot your Shift. You should be good to go.

You'll be fine. I've copied my sd contents to my PC and back a few times and I always get that "name too long" error on one file and I've always just skipped it with no problems.
thanks.... i found out that the source of my problem was the folder "android" but i pretty much just took what i needed from that folder, and created a new one on the root of the sd card, and placed the contents there, every other file/folder transferred smoothly

transfer to SD

I transferred a program called star chart from phone to SD card and when i hook up to PC I cant locate the program. Anyone know if it goes into a certain folder when transferring it or something?
not too sure
on your pc
go into your removeable disc
type in the name of the file your looking for into the search box in the removable disk window.
it should pop up and then your can go backwards from there to find its exact location.
yea that was the first thing i attempted to do which is why i thought it was odd i couldnt find it.
When you say transferred to SD Card. How did you do this ? Do you have a sd_ext partition on the SD Card ?
If you just want a copy of it, just copy it with a File Manager of some description, I use Root Manager, to a known location on the SDcard.

[Q] sdcard0 and sdcard1?

Why do the phone recognize my internal storage as sdcard0? This tends to lead to some problems when locating files in recovery.
Is there a way to make sure extraneous files, such as downloads, stay only on the sd card under sdcard?
Sometimes when placing a file on the sdcard from USB-to-PC connection, I navigated to the root folder using a file explorer, and tap sdcard, only to find it's not there. Instead of I have to home-->storage-->sdcard1.
Can anyone explain what exactly is going on in this case?? Or if anyone found a way to consolidate the folders, how can I do it??
Thank you.

The storage isn't extended, it's two separate file spaces. Your internal memory is reported as an internal SD card (sdcard0) and your SD Card is reported as an external SD (sdcard1)

If you download the Motorola USB Device Manager then in my computer your device will be recognised with internal and external storage available, all folders under these will be clearly visable and you shouldn't have any issues transferring data between the two.
Cheers
I have that manager and it works well, but I would like the folder "sdcard" in the home to link me to the sdcard1 and not sdcard0. Right now the "symlink" in root browser points there. Anyway to change that?

Unable to copy files from internal storage to SD card

Whenever I try to copy or move files from my phone memory to the SanDisk external storage , the copying process gets failed halfway.
My phone memory is about to be full and I need to move some files onto the SD card.
Why is this happening? Please help!.
IM USING A XIAOMI MI A1 RUNNING ON ANDROID 8.0.0
I am also not sure about this. One thing you can try switch off your phone and then on again. This might help you.
It seems to me that your phone hasn't enough available RAM to complete the task. You could try just use a PC to do the transfer until you figure out what's causing the phone to fail during the process.
Another option would be a safeboot.
Another option I should have started with , would another file explorer to copy it over to the sdcard
Sorry if none of this is useful
Does your SD card have enough room available? Are the files to copy too big? ......
