When I take photos with stock camera they are brighter before I actually take the photo.
I've came across a few post about this but haven't found a real definitive solution.
My brightness is all the way up.. Auto screen power is off.. And I've tried different iso and other settings.
Any suggestions?

Hi, my G2x has this really bright LED light that goes for a good 5 seconds before it actually takes a picture. Is there anyway to stop this? If I'm on the receiving end it blinds me, as it does other people when getting their picture taken.
Its for the auto focus. It will remain lit for as long as it takes to focus. Not sure if you can disable but doing so would also disable its ability to focus.

Actually, it sounds more like the red-eye reduction flash mode to me. Instead of using "Auto" for your flash setting, try manually setting the flash type you want to use.
is this a serious question? TURN OFF THE FLASH!

Is that a serious answer? If you turn off the flash then the picture will come out dark, he is refering to the light that comes on before the flash.
Yea I just had some pics taken with my phone. It was dark, and when they hit the button, the LED light came on for like 3-4 seconds, then flickered while it took the pic.
My Nexus One did the same thing. It is for the focus, since we have an auto-focusing lense.
I have noticed an issue with my third Charge. Watching a movie or you tube and the LCD just dims a little. Really annoying. Anyone else?
Settings, display settings, power saving mode. See if that fixes it.

Yep, did that and mix of auto-brightness and manual brightness settings. Nada.
What ROM and video player are you using?
Are you covering the light sensor with your hand or something

The stock video player has its own brightness setting. Perhaps the other apps are linked to that setting?

No this morning opened twitter put phone down. Then the screen starts getting brighter after it has already been on for a while. Right now it dimmer than it should be. I do no think this is the brightness as it appears and I a new owner of this phone that the back light is not working correctly.
The light sensor isn't instant. I've noticed it getting brighter/dimmer at times but I think that's just it trying to adjust. You tried turning auto-brightness off?
I often am outside I am thinking the light sensor maybe the issue. Thanks.
Hi guys, if you think how the power button will break sometime because it feels so fragile, maybe you want to use this app. I made this app for personal use, but I do want to share with you.
This app basically only make the screen brightness to 0 (zero), and you gotta wait for 10 seconds to let Android call the lock screen.
nb:
if you didn't wait till time out (10 secs), you are still basically locking it manually. that means you have to press the hardware button twice to wake the screen up
Is it possible to change this in a way you can control how bright the screen is? The lowest setting is '12' that i can get and even that is nearly too bright indoors for me
I havent seen an all that does that

You should try an app called LUX. It will allow you to drop the brightness below the standard brightness.

Lux is a pay app and reading description in market says nothing about dimming below stock settings.
Screen adjust otoh actually can lower brightness to zero can also modify color and contrast too. Best of all it's free. Been looking forever for something like this that works in honeycomb as lowest stock brightness is still too bright for nighttime reading for me.
At night it's too bright. I turn it to minimum, manual brightness under the display menu and its still too bright. Anything else I can try other than sunglasses?

I used to use an app called Screen Filter.
I haven't found a kernel/hardware way to reduce the brightness below the point we see. It may just be that the AMOLED screen doesn't dim well and that is a hardware minimum. With Screen Filter, I remember the contrast being pretty poor when dimmed.

Finally figured out if you go into CyanogenMod settings - Interface - Render effect, you can get a dimmer display. The color might be a little wonky, but...
I like the 'Night mode (3700K)'. There are others too, so pick one and have fun.

on LG P500.
The rom is great and all but there is a problem I have noticed at the beginning of me using it, but I have ignored it but now it's really bugging me.
The camera works fine and all, but for some reason the camera really makes the pictures look really dark, it's not bright enough, so I put +5 brightness and it looks flawless and normal. The problem is, every time I take a picture with +5 brightness and check the picture to review it, and I go back to take another picture, the brightness goes back to normal. Is there any way to make +5 brightness stay as default? Thank you in advance!
