What are the differences between the different regional versions of ICS? Is it just languages and bloat-ware, or is there more to it than that?
You know, like modem and phone might operate with different tel-co and country specific standards????
I am in Australia but have the stock ROM of the latest international version ICS LPQ flashed to my SGS2 i9100 though Odin.
I was just wanting to know if there was any advantage of flashing the Australian version of ICS LPQ when it is finally released here. (however long that will take?)
I recon my tel-co (Telstra AKA: Hellstra) will take 3-6 months if the last GB update was anything to go by. hehe.
I'm sure there are plenty of others with similar questions.
Appreciate an anwer please, as I have been trawling the forums and can't find anything.
Cheers

Hi All,
I have just purchased the Samsung Infuse 4G as my new secondary device after my SGSII and I am wondering what the substantial differences are between the Rogers and the ATT version of this device, keeping in mind that I am in Canada and am on Rogers?
What ROMS CAN and CANT I flash? What Kernels CAN and CANT I flash?, etc, etc, etc...
Please advise as I used to have the Galaxy S I9000M (Canadian version of the International version) and I was able to flash International ROMS, etc... Can this be done on the Infuse 4G without losing my proper service bands, etc?
Thanks for the replies...
Galaxy S lable, Gingerbread that i know of.

Im sorry but I dont understand wht you are trying to tell me. What is "Galaxy S lable" and what do you mean "Gingerbread that I know of"? If you mean that the ROGERS version already comes preloaded with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and NOT with Froyo 2.2.1 then that I already know.
Please advise...
Well the Canadian Infuse is a Galaxy S device and are is not even though it is the same device. So this just proves that Galaxy S is just a label.
and the android version. those seems to be just the major differences.

Thank You again for your reply Optimus but what I am really wondering is if I am able to flash "ATT based" custom ROMS, etc after I root and install CWM. I know the rooting proceedure for the ROGERS version of the Infuse 4G is different but is the actual "firmware"? Will I mess up the device by flashing it with ROMS created from ATT firmware, etc?
Does anyone know?
i dont think it would matter since we are running your roms on your phones. Gingerbread. but i mean you can always ultimate unbrick if something goes wrong. so its worth a try. and just a hint. att roms are froyo based
From what I can tell you,
We have Gingerbread 2.3.3 we do not have HDMI output. (Not a big deal for me).
Our video recording is a bit messed up (Recording at 15fps) but there is a fix now. Other than that there's not a huge difference.
Differences:
1) Cosmetics (that's what the other guy meant by "Galaxy S label") - no differences internally hardware-wise
2) Gingerbread bootloaders
Basically 2) means you can't flash old Froyo-based ROMs because no one bothered to make them compatible with the GB bootloaders - we focused on going the other way around. Our Gingerbread kernels are capable of working with Froyo or Gingerbread bootloaders.
Any ROM you might want to flash is based on your stock firmware currently, since official AT&T Gingerbread isn't out yet. Samfirmware claims it's officially out on Kies, but Kies refuses to connect to our phones so I call BS.
Here's the thing. As usual it seems to be an organization issue here between major brands and models so after looking around for hours I'm still not able to figure out what is going on here.
I bought a Samsung galaxy S II LTE SGHI727R from Rogers Canada.
Is there a European ROM available for it? i want to debrand it and remove bloatware I guess.
Will the Samsung Skyrock ROM work on it ok?
Some good info on this matter would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I think the easyest thing to do is go on the samsware website choose a reagion u want it from and flash it. I had a problem upgradeing my phone with loads of crappy bloatware. So I just flashed stock europe firmware to it. Just dont choose a network provider firmware but it does explain it easly enough
Where exactly can I find this on samsung's websites? Been looking, but can't find it
This is most probs best site for the original firmware its got a list of all sgs2, sgs1 etc

Hi Forum
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 which is out of warranty. As is known to most, Samsung is most likely not going to come out with an ICS upgrade to this model.
I live in India and travel frequently to the UK, and am therefore looking for a stable ICS ROM that will work on my phone and render the phone usable in India and the UK. I did try with a Cynogen Mod 9 ROM for the i9000 which worked in the UK, but the moment I landed in India, the SIM refused to register with the GSM network in India. My IMEI number also changed when I flashed my phone with this ROM.
Currently, my phone was brought back to a working condition with a Samsung Android 2.1 ROM, but this ROM is really bad and makes my phone freeze frequently.
I am looking forward to some advice from the XDA Forum members to point me to a stable ICS ROM that I can download and flash my phone with, so that the phone works in India.

There are no stable ICS roms for GS2 yet (at least from Cyanogenmod) but they have a gingerbread one (which is better than the 2.1 you have ;P )
Here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxys2
Anyway, I suggest you stay out of ICS until they make a stable ROM. Port only if you can help develop it
Thanks For the reply. However, I am looking for an update for the Galaxy S. I do not have an S2. My Galaxy S has been sparingly used and I think it has at least a year left in it.

Ooooops I'm really sorry about that. here's the link for the stable CM7 build for the Galax S:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxysmtd
I suggest you use this for the mean time while waiting for the ICS Cyanogen
I would prefer that you use the rom from team icssgs RC4.2 (4.0.3)

I had cyanogen mod 7 installed but was not very happy with it.
So try it out.
Faryaab is also doing a good job. You should check this out : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1628028
I tried ICS Custom Rom from Darky. It worked fine to my SGS1 without any problem. You can try it.
But I already changed to the latest one Jellybean Custom Rom from C-Rom Bean. I find this better in terms of graphics and Google applications.
I have tried a bunch of radio\modems that worked in GB and cant my phone to recognize one of them on the official ICS. I have also tried several of the ICS modems including blaze, telus, and several others, and can't them to work either. My sim isant found and under baseband version it says "unknown." Does anyone know of a tmobile modem I can get to work on my skyrocket with official ICS? Thanks for any help.
Even your question doesn't make sense ... What is your phone ? what rom are you using ? are you on t mobile SIM or what ? how did you update to ICS ?
Don't just throw 20 words and want an answer ....

If your going to be rude then don't reply to my thread. This isant hard to figure out from what I posted. I am on the skyrocket sgh-i727, hence why im posting in the skyrocket forum. It says in the title, I am on the stock ICS 4.0.4 rom. And I as far as I know there is only one offical 4.0.4 upgrade. And it would only make sense that I have a tmobile sim, hense why I am asking if anyone knows of a working tmobile modem for the official stock ICS rom upgrade. I have had a million phones, been part of a million different parts of XDA, and by far the people in the skyrocket section are the rudest. And before you say it, yes Ive searched, and searched, and searched again, but seeing as how it was just released yesterday, there is not alot of information out about it yet. After some thought, maybe it was possible you thought I was on rogers or something? Do people try to use tmobile modems on rogers versions?I dont know, but thats not important right now. But you could of been nicer about it. People with questions get treated like second class citizens around here. I updated by flashing using ODIN.
Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII LTE HD, and I know this is going to sound fairly of noob-ish, but I'm new to Android.
I have two questions.
1. I'm with Bell Mobility and the release date for ICS was supposed to be this month, and I've been plugging and unplugging my phone into the computer like a madwoman, and Kies is still saying that my 2.3.6. is the latest firmware. Am I having a problem with Kies?
2. I'd prefer not to wait for ICS any longer than I already have, is there anyone who can help me with a guide to flashing a custom ROM and acquiring ICS that way?
