Hi guys
I've OTA upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 3.32.707.10
I noticed every time I reboot, a message appears "Android is upgrading... optimizing applications x of 94" after the HTC white screen. It takes abt a minute to get through.
Is this normal?
Thanks
Tony
Yea it is normal.
Those applications are from HTC, mot from your downloaded applications.

Thanks. But how come I got 94 applications to be optimised, while others have less/more even we are both the sensation??
Or maybe it is optimizing with your apps. I noticed that. Sorry..

I get that too every time I reboot, too time consuming.
if you guys are rooted then you could try running fix permission. came accross this one time when i installed LD Tweaks V3, after running the fix permission its gone.
i waited for 20min ytd when i update my sensation. now its working like a charm ~
I thought this happens when you clear dalvik cache?
In GB the dalvik cache rebuild happened behind the scenes now in ICS you see it...

Try rebooting the phone again and see. It happens every reboot for me.
surprisingly for me it reboot in less then a min, i enable fast boot on. No problem on reboot for me.

Fast boot essentially makes a reboot pointless, IMHO. I've read on the Samsung Nexus forum that this is normal behavior for ICS.
disabled fast boot and shut down, powered on in 1min48seconds with optimizing 40 updates
Very annoying. Optimizing on each phone boot. Test version was better than the release.
It's look like April fool !!!!
Yup, mine have this problem too. I asked HTC about this - they said that they don't know why there is this problem, and we need to send phone to service.
Hi
I get the same issue too...every reboot with fast boot off it optimizis and says android is updating
I'm on a nexus and it is only supposed to optimize once and that's after the initial update.*

Yep, that 'optimizing' should just be the building of the Dalvik Cache and after it shouldn't happen.
Dear Fellows i have found the solution.
Here how it will work
1-The android updating message will come every time because ICS contacts the developer site every time it reboots
2- go to setting > power and enable fast boot
there you go.
now your device will not reset sound setting on every reboot
I have the same issue. I rebooted my HTC Sensation 10 times with fast boot enabled and 10 times without and it is still "Optimising Applications x .. 92" on every reboot whether fast boot is enabled or not.
maybe I was too impatient when the phone was upgrading and the upgrade didn't go as planned. I have no idea.
Is there a way to get the OTA upgrade file and do the upgrade again?
Same thing here, I have rebooted it 3 times today and everytime I see the message "Android is upgrading..." Everytime 34 apps. It does not take that long but still...
And also I have never changed the "Fast boot" option, so I guess it is on.

Hi there guys!
i just bought a htc sensation a month ago and make its s-off an flashed also a custom rom (senseless rom 1.2)
now my problem its, that the phone is rebooting sometimes, when i try to unlock the device from sleeping.
i push the power button, the phone doesn't react, so i push a second time. after pushing 2nd time, the display splash on and at the next moment off.
2 seconds later, i got the boot-splash of the device.
anyone had this problem already?
EDIT: this problem was coursed also before s-off, therefore i choose this section to disks about! =)
I'm having this problem as well. I have not rooted or s-off'd or anything else. Stock rom, most apps from the market. This started happening the other day when I installed an update to version 2.3.4. This is happening several times a day and is getting extremely annoying!!
hi,
i just followed this problem again.
i am using now the Beast Rom, and the phone has still this problem.
any ideas?

Try flashing ARHD 3.6.1 from Mike1986 very stable, good support and fully operational. way better than stock.

Defrag your micro sd card and fix file system errors. Uncheck enable fastboot and turn off your phone then turn it back on again. Lastly, try not to use "kill all" in task manager. Hope it help you guys.
Crashing as well
Same here with crashing.
During unlock, when using GPS. It's now several times a day. The device has become unfit for purpose. Will try the SD card trick.
I have had this issue since I rooted/s-off my senation.
I flashed Android Revolution and I noticed my Sensation would turn off about 10 times during the day and I would have to restart the phone.
I then decided go back to stock using my backup with clockwork and I noticed it continued to reboot, but not as often.
I then wiped/cleared cache and tried to flash a new ROM (Synergy)
It was ok for the first couple days and now its back to rebooting about 10 times a day.
Is anyone else having similar issues? I have a US Tmobile Sensation.
Thanks
If I were you I would run the ruu for your device and if it occurs return to t mobile for a replacement.
Had same issues and nobody helped me.... Here's the repair. Hit the thanks button if it helps you.
I went on eBay and bought a new battery, apparently the initial battery died while flashing from a Rom to another. I suggest you buy the highest mAh you can find, I personally found one called Anker with 1900 mAh.
Good luck to you

A few things....
Obviously something funky happened....and no it's not normal...even for custom ROMS. ARHD works fine, so does Synergy.
For ****s & giggles try InsertCoin ROM. The latest build is VERY stable and fast.
ALWAYS make sure that the MD5 Checksum the developer gives for the download matches. Bad downloads do happen. Firefox has an MD5 checksum addon.
Also...make sure there is no possibility of any 3rd party app causing conflicts/reboots. Play around with a new ROM for a little bit (hour or so) before installing 3rd party apps. Just to be sure it's stable on it's own.
In recovery....
~Data wipe
~Clear cache
~Clear Dalvik cache
~Install a custom ROM (IC for example)
~Reboot
*DONT TOUCH THE DEVICE FOR 10 min. LET IT SIT.
~When the 10 min is done....reboot device.
~Setup your Sensation how ya like.
Good Luck!!
Thanks for the suggestions. I will try another ROM and the suggestions you guys posted.
I do not have any crazy third party apps. They are all popular ones and only a few.
If all else fails I will try a new battery first and if that doesnt work I will root it back up and send in for a replacement.

I've noticed this over the last few days.
I'm running ARHD 6.3.0 XE and my music player is fine, but Youtube and games dont have media sounds playing back...
I'm not sure on what I can do to fix it.
Has anyone else here had this issue?
(Hope I'm posting this in the right threads)
Cheers,
T-L-H
Yes, it has been mentioned before in the ARHD & Insertcoin threads. It's a bug. Reboot to get sound back.

It is not just in the two ROMs you mentioned, I have been experiencing this problem myself with YouTube videos along with other video sites. I have even had it with two or three videos I downloaded to ny SD card. I am completely stock right now, I have not even S-offed my current Sensation. It is the replacement Sensation T:Mobile sent me when my original Sensation died. So I decided to wait for the OTA ICS update before doing any hacking around on it.
Ah cheers guys,
I'll just restart my phone, or does it need to be a HBOOT restart?

Well to actually preform a restart you need to go to Settings then Power and uncheck the box by fastboot. If it is not unchecked your Sensation does not completely power down during a shut down or a restart and the problem may still persist after the restart. And just to add when you uncheck fastboot in Settings a restart by holding the power button and selecting restart or a restart from HBOOT is the same.
I just bought this phone and since day one it keeps rebooting randomely. This happens multiple times a day and I am not sure what causes this.
replace it with new one

If the problem persists till monday I will, but I'd like to find a solution other than replacing it as it usually is such a hassle.
realy dont waste your time finding solutions
you may find a temp solution but you will never know it you complete solve the problem or not
Yeah but it just might be a software problem..

that's easy if you didn't unlock the bootloader try factory reset
so if it's software problem it will gone otherwise it's a hardware problem
NTP
Found out in the logcat, that when you've selected automatic time/date settings. The htc Cha Cha couldn't pull a correct time/date from the NTP server. Maybe this is the cause of the random reboot. Ive changed my settings and i've for a 2 hours no reboots...
Hmmm, it's weird though.. I've been using auto time/date without any issues for the past 9 months. On stock ROM, SuperOSR, CM7 and CM9. You could try a factory reset (erasing all data) and check if that clears it out. Other than that, it might be radio related.

This is fix the issue? I have been having abnormal restarts with my ChaCha right after I bough it.
It was not the ntp, but the launcher with the sense engine.... I have replaced them with go laucher and removed the stock launcher and the sense engine with root uninstaller.

So removing sense and replacing it with go launcher fixed it for you? I had the same issue with my HTC chacha the very next day I bough it, did factory reset a couple of times and even flashed a new stock ROM through RUU but nothing helped, I feared it could be a hardware problem but since installing cyanogenmod 7 my phone has worked flawlessly. Every time I go back to stock I get abnormal restarts. I have written HTC about this, the only help they offered was to "factory reset" the device. The logs show kernel panic before every random restart.
I just installed the TEAM VIPER 1.1.0 ROM and the error comes up one first start.. " Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped " and its an infinite loop... .. very annoying.. cant use my phone.. please if anyone can help ????
Bad download maybe?
Download rom again, full wipe, flash. Let phone sit for a couple of minutes on first boot before you try and set it up
If new download don't work try flashing a different Rom, full wipe .. I had NUMEROUS problems with that new update myself. For some reason. It's a great Rom I just couldn't run it after the update my device kept freezing 5to10 times a day! Also weird stuff like half a screen would appear! I thought my device was breaking but after I flashed a new Rom, all the problems are gone! Many people run viper with out problems but for some of us I don't know why it gives issues. It's about 50/50 some have no problem At all. Before the update everything was wonderful! After the update it got so bad I had to get another Rom.....I'm not sure why I'm not over or under clocked, I have no rogue applications, I did clean installation, wiped even re downloaded, wiped again and still my device froze, my proximity sensor would stick , my screen would go half black, I would get vibrating while talking on calls it was very strange! Viper is a great Rom if you can run it without issues ..I guess I was one of the unlucky ones..I did nothing different from the first viper which ran beautifully. It's just after the update this started happening. My device is running perfectly now on a different Rom. Very strange.
