Given the fact that HTC has announced that Desire HD is getting ICS, do you feel pissed that the Inspire 4g is not on their list for ICS considering they are the SAME PHONE! Thanks a lot AT&T and HTC for ignoring us Inspire 4g users. This is getting ridiculous.

I'm sure the devs will port it to inspire 4g so just root???

You are on a development site where most users are here looking for modifications to their phone. Even IF att were to release an OTA of ics for our phones, it likely would be as broken as the GB update was. no thank you.
No 'senior members dont get butt hurt' over posts like these. its people that feel the need to use XDA as their person venting blog when it is primarily a development site. if you are unhappy with how att does business, don't buy their phones, they have done this practice since the beginning. nothing new to see here. If your next phone you buy is from ATT, then you will understand why they EOL it so fast, because users upgrade as soon as they can. why support a line of phones forever when people only keep them till they can upgrade anyways. My Inspire runs ICS, and it runs it quite well. Glad I cant get OTA updates anymore.

Its not HTC it is AT&T that will not update it but that is due to the companies support policy.
Now as for the comment about people getting butthurt. As stated above this is a development site. Not a Rom user based site, so yes some people get tired of others not following the rules and opening new threads about things that have been answered 100 times already.
In the US the OEM have 0 control over the updates that a phone gets. It is all the carriers that control this. As stated above if you dont like the way they handle it then do what alot of us do. Suck it up and pay full price for the Euro version of the phone.
Also dont spam the forum with posting more then one thread about the same thing. I deleted the other one

Wow
Does this increase the possibility of Motorola making the next Nexus phone after Prime?
not sure what the relevance to the HTC sensation this has to be fair...
I just read this on CNN.com. Although it doesn't really have anything to do with HTC, it's still a very interesting piece of tech news. We don't know how this will affect Motorola's practices, but it's likely that bootloaders will be unlocked and Google will release future reference phones (Nexus) through the Motorola brand.
I'll be keeping an eye on further developments. Could there be a Motorola in my future?
Quite sure that won't change much in relation to OEMs. It's a defensive move (17k patents).
As long as they don't shut Moto Down like apple did Lala... I dought they will anyway but u don't know

In all honesty,i don't even have a Sensation. I have the Evo 3d. I read it in the 3d general forum.
Because our phones are so similar I spend a lot of time reading about the awesome stuff your devs are doing. I was only trying to let you know whats up with Android.
Btw.. you all have a Beautiful work of art in your hands. The Sensation looks like a wonderful device. I hope the development guys go back and forth between the sensation and 3d . Maybe the answers to any flaws in the devices can be worked out together ..(ie touchscreen).

4 months now it's a great phone, I have no regrets
thou I think that the inspire is a good phone, I think with all the new dual core phones that are being released I would not waste an upgrade on this particular phone. I do like this HTC Inspire but still is old tech.
Really? Another opinion thread on the Inspire? How many do we need this week? This is not the section to ask questions also. Can we please clean this forum up starting with threads like this first?

Guess this is the right place for it.
Yes the threads will be getting cleaned up. This weekend most likely if I can find the time. As for opinion threads if there is more then one thread on the same subject they will be combined. We have a off topic thread for things like this.
Happy to have you back up there zelendel despite pushing your buttons before.

It's been a tough haul for me with Tmobile/Samsung Galaxy phones. I started with a Vibrant with its GPS problems. After two T-mobile Vibrant swap outs and various software updates that accomplished little, they swapped for a SGS4G.
The SGS4G was no better on GPS and T-mobile wouldn't swap to anything else.
I never had a data contract, just used wifi for data. Last week I jumped on the $30 unlimited data prepaid plan. Well it turns out my SGS4G won't get cell data, not on Froyo not on Gingerbread.
So T-mobile now offers me a swap for another SGS4G or a LG-G2X or a HTC Sensation 4G. I'm posting here in case anyone with SGS4G experience also has some with the other phones.
It seems to me that its obvious I should switch. Both the LG and HTC are dual core and the Samsung is not. HTC has already committed to ICS on it, and LG has at least said the no ICS for G2X rumor has no basis. We all know Samsung is incredibly slow at updates, and their certainly is skepticism in this forum that they will ever have ICS for the SGS4G.
As to which to switch to, I'm not sure. The ICS commitment by HTC is certainly a plus. After my experience with Samsung my main issues are:
-- A well working GPS
-- Timely software updates
-- A potent hacking community
Any comments to help me decide?
I'd say get the sensation, i would if i ever got the chance. This phone is a great phone, don't get me wrong, but i just like the sensation. Never had an lg so i have no clue what that phone brings. I got this phone not knowing about XDA and modding. Once i found out about those, i kinda regretted getting this phone, but now things are better since we have official gingerbread and a great community that's here to help. I'm getting off topic now, so to answer your question, I'd say the sensation. OR you can stick with this phone and see what the future brings.
Hope i helped.
Sent from my rockin' Galaxy S 4G using XDA Premium App
I definitely agree. Sensations commitment to ICS is good enough for me but the hardware facts just beat out the sgs 4g. I do like the sgs 4g screen and resolution tho. But other than that, get sensation. My mom (I'm only 17 so i haven't moved out ) has it and I've been able to play with it. Hands down just a better phone. And i regret getting the phone too. This is my first android and did me soooo much justice, but for Modding and rooting it just isn't exactly the best. Sensation all the way. Hope I helped
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Yea the sensation should be your choice..I bought this phone without the intention of rooting it or anything, also I lost my last one so i needed a phone quick..if i knew the info i know now,i would of had another phone like maybe the mytouch 4g..So yea in short make the switch, easy.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Samsung has neglected this phone in terms of updates. The Sensation is great if you want ICS, if that's not the biggest deal to you I'd get the Samsung Galaxy SII, as Samsung phones are well built, but with any Samsung phone don't expect an update within any timely manner.

+1 me too.
oh and get the sensation. Even though I think you already knew that before you posted this thread just to make all of us jelous
I owned a g2x and it was bad. Very very bad. It was also the first batch of them. I hear they fixed a lot of the issues. I own a sgs4g and a sensation. The sensation has more options Rom and kernel wise. Speed wise my sgs4g with all its mods is just as fast. The sgs4g seems to have faster data speeds. The screen on the sgs4g is better. If custom roms and mods are what your after get the sensation. Performance wise a properly set up sgs4g may have a slight edge do to data speed. The sensation is confirmed to be getting ics as well a.d they are working on a port as well. Hope that helps.

I'm kicking myself. After they offered me the Sensation or G2X, I waited a week to make a choice and get past Thanksgiving. When I called back their database had changed and would only offer another SGS4G.
Apparently the database changes from time to time based on factors I can only guess. They said that at the moment for a Vibrant they had multiple choices.
That sucks. Big time.

No more wondering about ICS, Desire HD is going to get it !
Oddly enough verizons variant the thunderbolt is getting it as well, but no love from ATT. Doesn't look like the inspire will get an official update. Thanks ATT for shafting the customers .

Any bets on if it will make in to us in November?
I see some of the international one x phones are starting to get it, I am curious how long it will be before we see it on the one XL.
The folks on AT&T and Rogers (like myself) probably won't see an OTA until at least the new year as both carriers are notorious for slooooow updates. (Hard to port all that bloat I guess), but there are other carries in Germany and Asia that have the same model so I hoping that one of them pushes it out so or devs can work their magic.
So who wants to start placing bets on when we will see a 4.1.2 RUU for the one xl?

Sent from my Nexus S
i thought i read somewhere that jb for at&t hoxl will be released like 2 weeks after the onex+
Currently running CM10, as the speed and multitasking are way better. On the other hand, I get way better battery life with sense based roms, and the music experience is a little better.
I am hoping that the One X JB update brings the same speed as CM10 with the battery life and beats of sense.

Threads asking for eta's for pretty much anything has never brought them any faster. Once the jb update XL is rolled out somewhere on the globe, we'll have it. That's the benefit of being on a site like this as opposed to waiting for the carriers to roll out updates.
