Read more and post less. I've ran across the answer to your problem at least 5 times while browsing through threads.
Do a factory reset until they work

First I would try this.
Then I would try this.
And when you have problems with those try this.

It's just so easy to search, and there's getting to be too many threads on the exact same thing. I also wonder, how hard is it to make a complete sentence? If it's too hard to do that, wouldn't it be too hard to do most of the things here?
Just my thoughts.

I couldn't agree more! Kind and generous people take the time to answer these questions in depth. Then someone new expects them to regurgitate it because they didn't bother to even look first. Typically the number one rule of all forums is to browse and search first, people should know better! Only start a new thread for help if you have a new/unique situation that you couldn't locate by yourself.

Apex 7 Update 1 issues.

Since I dont have ten posts yet....
I just updated to Apex 7 Update 1 Now I get force closes on SNS..

And the OT forum is where you post blah blah blah to get to 10 posts. Read the forum rules, please.
There is a apex in the captivate dev forum, thanks

A link would have been nice, since it's your ROM.

I actually DID look first, but the way developers put all this garbage in front of and after their ROM names makes many of the threads in Dev hard to read. Probably doesn't help with searching, either.

[Q] 2.3.3 to 2.2?

I'm a bit confused. I've been reading online for a while, and don't fully understand the ROMs available and what not. (I am a computer programmer, so I'm fairly tech savvy).
Basically, my evo shift has 2.3.3. I did a factory reset hoping it would back down to 2.2, but it did not. Now, I'd like to install 2.2 so I can root my phone. Is there a way I can do this? I've also seen a few roms (ie: evervolv) that are rooted. How can I install these (i'm using a mac).
Also, what do you guys recommend? Should I install a ROM, downgrade to 2.2 (how?) and root, etc?
Thanks!
You cannot downgrade to Froyo.. Sorry. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218580

You can only temp root right now with 2.3 on the Shift. A factory reset just wipes everything and basically gives you a clean OS...it's like getting a new phone. The good folks at HTC should be releasing the the source code and kernel between now and EOL of the phone.

When ppl aren't sure what they are reading they have to ask. It may seem stupid to ppl who aren't new but to someone new, I can see it happening, especially if they don't want to brick their phone!
just my 1.5 cents worth
Yeah, I've read lots. I posted because it's good to have clarification.
I've read that you cannot "downgrade" to 2.2 from 2.3, but that doesn't necessarily answer my question if I can flash a 2.2 ROM..
I know 2.3.3 isn't rooted yet, but that doesn't necessarily mean I can't flash a ROM with an older, rooted version (very common in modchips for gaming systems.. If the company releases an update, you can usually re-flash the chip to the old update and be good to go).
So, it seems that if my phone is 2.3, my *ONLY* option is to temp root, is that correct (impossible to reflash, reprogram, etc)?

You need root and recovery (or the old hboot) in order to flash anything. So yes, until a new root method is found your only option is to temp root.

I've noticed that these types of posts asking the same question for the millionith time always start out with "I've searched all over and read every thread". Weird, huh? Why would you start off on the defense unless you already know that you're asking a redundant question?

ICS ROM

Anybody know of any stable (daily drivers) ICS ROMs? My roommate has the Epic Touch and he is running an ICS ROM and looks clean! Its an ICS ROM with T-Wiz. Just wanted to know if there was anything like that for the Skyrocket yet!?
Thanks!
If you would read the threads in development you would know the answer is no

I have been reading the forums for the past couple days and didn't see anything myself, just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask and see if someone knew something I didn't.
Apparently that was too much. Thanks anyway

Baseband Question

I am currently running on the MAR 27 2011 baseband, is there a way to update this? I was going to flash the newest hellfire sandwich 1.9 (I am on version 1.8) and wanted to make sure this would work.

You didn't have to respond to this. I was wondering because I keep getting random signal drops on my phone and thought the new baseband might help with that, but I saw some people have issues with call audio on the new baseband.

im not one of those people, but there are some here that will/would come in here and flame you cause this exact same question has been asked like 25 times in the past couple weeks. they will say you need to learn to use the search button and you will die a fireiry death until you learn how!
i just think its funny that a thread was made a couple weeks ago "so that no more threads will be made" about this exact same thing.
i asked the guys who keep saying to use the search function if this is their first day on a forum cause i HAVE NEVER been on a forum where people did that religiously
