So I am helping a friend flash ICS to his SR. I have an Epic Touch and am familiar with Odin and flashing so no issues there. We did a back up using CWM 5.0.2.6 and flashed to ICS. When ICS loaded he was missing several pictures. I loaded CWM via Odin once again and restored. He still doesn't have those pictures and is also missing his text messages.
Has anyone one else had incomplete backups using CWM 5.0.2.6 on the SR. We also tried the CWM Touch posted in the Dev thread and neither restored the back up properly.
ur backup was complete, that's not the issue. The ics update erased the emmc of ur friends skyrocket, that's why he lost pics. Emmc is skyrocket internal storage.

My recovery wont restore any backups I make. This may be an easy fix and I'm sure I'm asking a stupid question but I can't seem to get it to restore a back up. I get an error when it trys to. I'm on CWM-based Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v5.0.2.7.
what error do you get?

Let me guess... Cant mount system in the restore feature. I use titanium back and just use flashable roms if i need to restore... Dont know any other way around it. Maybe someone else does.

5.0.2.7 shouldn't have the issue with being unable to mount /system.
What error or message do you get when you try to restore?
I'm getting the mount/system error. I thought flashing the new cwm recovery and kernel would have gotten rid of that problem. It never did. I still get the same error.
And your trying to restore back ups made with CWM 5. Not CWM 3 right.
if the backup was made with cwm 3.x it won't restore with cwm 5.x and vice versa.
Also, GB roms had issues restoring backups made with cwm 3.x - you had to flash a clean rom, and then do an advanced restore, and restore data only.
Ok, here's what I did.
I have had my s3 rooted and running custom ROM's. I stupidly and accidently flashed google wallet as my recovery using ezrecovery. Now the phone only boots into odin mode. Is there a way to get recovery back onto the device so I don't have to wipe it and start over (possibly losing everything on my internal SD card)?
Thanks in advance.
Silly Noob.
I don't think you'll be able to get recovery back. You'll probably need to flash stock with Odin.

I ended up with the same result after flashing a custom recovery incompatible with Imo's Lean Kernel/Kexec.
I used ODIN to flash the Root_66 ROM, and all of my internal SD contents remained intact. After the clean install, I flashed CWM 6.0.1 through EZ-Recovery and successfully restored a backup.
The only thing that didn't restore was the kernel.
Awesome. Lesson learned. Think twice before clicking! Odin'd to route 66 and now have recovery of my back up. Thanks guys!
Actually, I in case anyone does something similar the phone booted rooted just how I left it minus the custom rom. I re flashed the rom and I am back where I was without even having to flash a recovery. Thanks again!

PLEASE HELP!! I have successfully rooted the device and was doing ok after flashing CWmod recovery 6.0.1 through E-Z recovery app and running Liquid Rom. I managed to be dumb enough to flash CWMod version 5.8.4.9 through Rom manager and when I rebooted my phone it got stuck in boot loop. I am able to get into CWMod 5.8.4.9 but I cannot restore my backup anymore. I can also data wipe and install a new rom, but it all just keeps going into bootloop and I cannot get past the samsung custom unlock screen. It first flashed that, then the android man pops up on the next screen like its loading something and then just keeps looping through the process. I did not use ODIN for any of this process and I dont know how to get myself back tothe point where I can reboot. Any help would be tremendously appreciated, because I'm dead stuck and in a panic. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Happend to me last night...
I made the same mistake... DO NOT download any recoveries from ROM manager. I found out the hard way... So the problem now is your phone is stuck using the recovery you downloaded. I am not sure of a quick way using that recovery if you can revert back but... My solution got me where I needed to be in order to get going again.
I had to use Odin to root to stock ROM. Yes when you wipe it will destroy your data but not your pictures, downloaded files, and other files you put on there. When I re-rooted with stock all my stuff for CM10, gapps, and the kexec CWM was there.
So use this guide...

Section 1!!!!! And follow the steps EXACTLY the way it says to.
This is why i have never liked rom manager...
The best solution for us to flash recoveries is ez recovery free from the market. I would use this going forward once you Odin back to stock

I have an AT&T Samsung Infuse and I upgraded it to Gingerbread then rooted it. After a couple months of use, I bricked it a few days back, so I flashed it back to stock and redid the Ginger and Root. I want to do a nandroid backup with the Rom Manager and Clockworkmod Recovery so I followed the steps on this video from youtube (How to Install Clockworkmod Recovery on the Samsung Infuse 4G). But, no matter what I do, in recovery mode it'll give me Failed to Verify Whole-File signature, then something else, failed to install packages. So I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what I need to do in order to backup my rom? Someone on a different forum suggested flashing a different kernel for a Roger Infuse, but I need to have my backup first! Thanks in advance
Do away with rom manager as it is a problem on Infuse. Make a backup with CWM.

Awesome. I went back to stock and flashed a root that came with gingerbread and clockworkmod, thanks!
Hey guys, I've been using CW Recovery Version 6.0.1.0 (Installed from Ez Recovery) for about the past week or so, and have started getting errors where CWM can't restore the data, cache, system, or boot from any of my four back ups. (One on stock rooted/unlocked, one on Pac Man, one on Galaxy Mod with stock JB kernal, and the other on Galaxy Mod with the lean kernal.)
After falling victim to the repeating "0" folder, and large file sizes for blobs, I decided I'd give TWRP a try. (Note, at this point, CWM was able to restore all of my backups.) So I flashed TWRP 2.2.0.0 from Ez Recovery, and then re-installed Galaxy Mod, but realized I forgot to back up my apps and data. So, I reflashed CWM and now after having flashed TWRP and reinstalling (I did do all the system/cache wipes and formats) Galaxy Mod, CWM cannot restore any part of any of my backups, and AppExtractor doesn't recognize them, even though they are right there on the SDext.
Anyone happen to have an idea of what's causing these /system/cache/data/boot errors??
If you flashed TWRP and then reinstalled Galaxy Mod but forgot to back up your data the smart thing to do is boot into recovery and back up your data using TWRP. Also you just freaking replace CWM with TWRP so of course it won't restore it as you no longer have that recovery.
I guess I wasn't as clear as I thought. ;o
All my app data, sms, etc. is on my latest CWM backup. And I do know that you can't recover CWM backups, with TWRP, so I did in fact reflash CWM and even though I left all of the backups untouched, not even CWM can restore any of them. So, I can't just backup my data on TWRP if all of it is on a CWM backup. ;o

you can backup your CURRENT data on TWRP. I guess I wasn't clear as I said to backup your current setup. I don't recommend you using ez recovery to flash a custom recovery as it is outdated. All I can say is I didn't have that problem using the current version CWM recovery but did experience them using version 6.0.1.0.
Ahhh, gotcha.
Well, I'll try manually installing 6.0.1.0 (As I know CWM tends to be version specific) and also the latest version, just to see how things go. If it doesn't work, then well, I'll just rebuild everything from scratch. ;P
And thanks for the quick replies.
