I've S-OFF'ed my Sensation XE and have installed ICS as per thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538032
So this is the official ROM I've installed:
OTA_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105-1.73.401.4_P_release_246589q3t6rh79ci68p68k.zip
All flashed OK, but my WiFi is very unreliable.... 3G isn't that reliable either.. seem to have to reboot the phone to get it working every day or so.
I have tried resetting the phone, but still the same.. thinkiing about going back to Gingerbread...
Anyone else having similar issues?
Thanks
I'm not using the official ROM but ARHD which is based on stock.
I haven't had problems with 3G and WiFi (apart from it turning on randomly).
Does your WiFi and 3G turn off and not reconnect?
ive been having mobile data connection problems with pretty much every ics rom ive tried. its confused/frustrated me as no one will will address the issue or offer any possible solutions. only fix ive found is going to phone info and turning radio off then on, also try resetting apns to default.
@cory0821 : Exactly the same issue.. turning data on and off (either wifi radio or enable/disable mobile data) seems to 'usually' fix the issue, other times it just doesn't work until I reboot.
The other issue I have is that if I leave the WiFi on when it's 'sleeping' - it kills that battery. i.e. WiFi consume 30-40% of battery within 10 hrs.
And if I go into the advanced setting to turn off WiFi when sleeping - it makes the above data issue much worse.
I am very happy with ICS on the Sensation XE in terms of smoothness and functionality, apart from I no longer have working data... I think my next question is how to I get back to Gingerbread at it's not really workable at the moment as a Smartphone.
I'm glad it's not just me as HTC might fix it, but surprised that more people are not having the same issue.
WiFi doesn't turn off... it connects to my home WiFi without any issue (and at work), but even though it's connected, none of the apps seem to be able to send or receive data.
I had the same problem with Wi-Fi after flashing ICS. After asking many times in several threads I finally learned that if you are with T-Mobile ICS will not support Wi-Fi. I don't know the technical details, but I was told T-Mobile had to release an official "T-Mobile" ICS before Wi-Fi would work correctly. No one seems to know when the official version will be released.
I am running coredroid v5 ICS and wifi and wifi calling are now working with tmobile. There are some times that wifi calling is not working 100%, but the wifi network for market, e-mails etc. is working great.

Hi Everyone
I was running the newest version of Insertcoin (2.2.6) it was running just great, last night I installed Superlite v1.3 and once I got it up and running I attempted to disable Mobile Network (as it it the number one killer of the battery for me) and now I cannot get ANY mobile signal whatsoever, not voice and not data....it is almost as if the SIM card I have in does not work any longer. I have tried rebooting, swapping roms (as I am using Boot Manager), reinstalling stock 2.3.4 from TMO, and still NO SIGNAL.....
My only salvation is wifi calling, and I cant be in the office or the house all day..
please help ASAP!
thanks
someone please help, i have used an RUU and downgraded and everything and no matter what I do everything BUT the radio works (i have wifi and such but no signal) and when i go to the extended settings menu, it just shows mobile network off and I cant turn it on....
Well, if you run RUU and it didn't fix it, it is not software related. Radio works as wifi works, unlikely to be hardware failure. I say it's your sim or network. My steps would be, reinsert sim, if it doesn't help, call your network and ask about any failures in your area, if there aren't any, request new sim card (testing different network sim first sounds like a good idea).
its really funky, but i just cant turn on mobile network...when wifi is on the mobile network box is checked, but the second i turn off wifi it fights to turn on the mobile network and never does....
i have tried to update the radio as well now and it still didnt do anything!
Have you tried what i said above?
If you remove the cover when the phone is on, you could damage the hardware.
The probability of this is very, very small, but still has.
Use code *#*#4336#*#* i think restart radio and you are ready.sorry for bad english it is work for me
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
*#*#4636#*#* type in dialer. Go to phone. Scroll down and turn radio off and back on again and see if that solves your issue

Have you tried ARHD ROM yet ? There's a Super Wipe, use that to wipe off everything and install ARHD 3.0.3. Looks like Superlite messed it since that was the last app installed. But I doubt.
Get another cellphone and slot in yr sim card to see if it works first.
Looking for any suggestions to solve my Microcell issues. I'm running CM 7.1. I have tried the 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M Radio and RIL and currently using the 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M radio and RIL. Just about everything works fine. Battery life is acceptable, cell tower usage is fine, wifi, bluetooth work fine. My only real issue is when it is connected to either of my two Microcells. It regularly drops calls. It can drop the call anywhere from within the first minute to after 10 minutes. Not really predictable. Any ideas on what else I should try? More radios, different ROM, tweak some settings?
I have same issue on my Infuse. I wont get some of calls when I connected to microcell. If people leave voice message, i will receive them, else its like no one called me. but the caller thinks, i am not picking up the call
I dont know, whether its Custom ROM issue or Microcell.
I think its microcell, because last week when I tested, even my friends stock phone had missed some calls, and my wifes samsung focus also.
but their miss rate is very less compared to my infuse.
Reports of problems with microcell after flashing?
I've done some googling but haven't found anything definitive regarding my concern: What effects might flashing a new ROM have on using my At&T microcell? NOTE: In the past I've flashed new ROMs and not had any problems connecting with my microcell.
The other day I was having stability problems on my Inspire, so I reflashed the de-bloated latest AT&T update (which I had been using already) and for some reason since then I haven't been able to connect to my microcell. Today I flashed a matching radio and RIL in case I had flashed badly matched ones and I'll be checking on the success or failure of that tonight when I get home.
I did find some rumors that flashing a new ROM might cause the microcell to no longer recognize the phone, although it still has the same IMEI and it has the same phone number (obviously) so I don't know how that might happen.
Last night I deactivated and reactivated the microcell and made sure the location etc. are correct, and that didn't seem to have an effect.
I've been running the sabsa ics roms by alirez, and have had no issues with my microcell.

Here is whats happening! I go into an awful area with no cell service and when i return into an area with good service... It shows all my bars, 3G icon, but its all grayed out and will not return with color... Also i have no data connectivity at all. The only way to resolve this problem is a reboot. I have the Nexus s 4G KL1 radio... This has happened twice in 2 days. Can anybody tell me what this could be? I tried the KL2 radio and the same thing happened. So I went back to KL1. I am running Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable. Any help would be appreciated, I like this phone and dont want to have to go back to my slow Evo.
Happens on ICS ROMs. I switched back to GB because of that issue.
OHHH ok that makes sense since i was on an ics rom... That sux i love the ics roms to. Is this an issue they know about and are working on?
Yes I am sure the devs know about this issue. A lot of people already reported this issue on the ROM's threads. I think there was a fix in the CM9 repositories that was merged this week.
well thats good news since were i live its not good service and im in and out of service a lot. Thanks for chiming in and letting me know! I was wondering if i had a bad radio or some thing lol...
This happens to my I9020T as well (with stock ICS, Pixel ROM, and Brainmaster's Stock and MIUI ICS ROMs). So, it's definitely an ICS issue. My network connection won't reconnect after I ride the subway (underground, where there's no signal) for about an hour. The only way to fix it is by doing a reboot (enabling and disabling Airplane mode doesn't fix it).
I just tried switching radios: from KI1 to KF1. I'll update on the result later tonight.
Sounds like exactly what happened to me.
I went back to gingerbread. I haven't had the issue since!
Just out of curiosity have you tried the KL2 radio with CM9/Latest nightly and then toggle your Data Enabled or the data roaming? If that works it might save you the reboot. Settings, wireless & Networks/more, Mobile networks, Data enabled.
You could try toggling the data roaming too.
Yup tried it already

Ok it was worth a shot. When I travel to the UP, I get no data service what so ever. So I feel your pain.

I've tried enabling-disabling Data as well, and it doesn't fix it.
The weird thing is the same issue happened to my girlfriend's T-Mobile G2 with Gingerbread last week, when I unchecked the "Use only 2G network" setting on her phone and forgot to check it back. So, when she told me the issue when she got home, I re-enabled the "Use only 2G network" setting again, and her phone haven't had the reconnect issue ever since.
So, my speculation right now is this reconnect to network failure issue has something to do with the Nexus S' 3G/4G network type setting.
I definitely think you're right
I am having somewhat the same problem.
My phone keeps switching from UMTS:3 to HSDPA and back to UMTS:3
This is draining the hell out of my battery. But when I have it on EDGE 2G I'm getting good battery life.
the issue is not that big for me. I just give it a few moments with it in sleep and when I go to use it again it fixes its self.

Update!!!! I have since switch off of the I c s rom. I have not had the incident happen even 1 time since doing so. I am totally convinced it's on ice cream sandwich roms.

Just an update: Switching radios didn't fix it. Had the same issue after taking the subway yesterday.

I doubt the radio would make a difference. I think the issue lies in the Phone application.
I could be misinformed here, but if i recall correctly, our phones radio is relatively stupid as far as radios go, and the intelligent parts are actually done as a part of the phone application. This only applies to CDMA Variants of the Nexus S, but it could be the reason that the ICS update was pulled (As thats where CM and others get the ICS version of the phone app.).
After taking the subway for about an hour last night, my NS actually reconnected when I got back up to ground level. One thing that I didn't do is listen to music (PowerAmp); I was always listening to music when I had those network reconnect issues.
Anyway, I hope this issue gets fixed in the upcoming official Google ICS update, that should be released in a few weeks*.

I've found that if you just stick it in airplane mode when you are about to go into known no service area and then take it out of ap mode when you know you have a signal you can save from having to reboot to reconnect.
My building at work is a tomb for sprints signal and it works for me every day w/o rebooting ...
To all of you having network reconnect issues -- do you use any battery saving apps, like JuideDefender or GreenPower? I use one, and I'm thinking that its network toggling internal API method has something to do with this issue.
Yesterday, I disabled my GreenPower app right before I took the subway, in which my NS couldn't receive any network signal for about an hour. Then, when I went back up to ground level my NS was able to reconnect to my network successfully.
I'll do the same test later after work and update back tonight.
No ones addressed this. When turning on WiFi and WiFi calling it kills radio and can't be fixed until a reboot. Anyone have this. Also WiFi calling on this thing is horrible, and reception. Want to like this phone but probably getting a gs 2.
I have no wifi calling issues, at all.
So if you turn off wifi calling cell does not come back?
If wifi calling is on it should turn off the radio.
That is normal for wifi calling on the newer software phones. Even my Amaze with ICS does that too.
If you also have wifi calling set to WiFi only it will not get signal back properly until it is rebooted or in range of good enough wifi signal to re-enable.
I'm not seeing this either. wifi calling works fine for me and I haven't seen any problems with the handoff when I go out of range.
What ROM are you running? I'm using stock 1.53
It gets stuck trying to reenable mobile connection and I have to reboot

That is odd. For my phone it takes a few seconds to switch from wireless calling to regular cell signal when I turn off WiFi. If you toggle airplane mode on and then off, does your radio work? If not, check to see if your phone has the latest update for it already (under settings->about->software updates, I think). If that doesn't work, I don't know what else to try. You might have a defective unit. (edit: if you haven't rooted it and modified it)
Wireless calling does suck for this phone. I kill my wireless connection when a call drops and call back under good ol' cell reception. Heck, I can't even call voicemail under WiFi calling since the pass code dials don't go through properly. Then again, this is what you're trying to resolve, getting reception after disabling WiFi, so this workaround is not yet possible...
In response to the call quality, I do notice lots of "pops and clicks" in the audio when using wi-fi calling. I have seached the forums and this seems to be a pretty common issue with this phone. I've noticed it on Skype too, which was also a reported issue. Seems there are some bugs to workout on this phone, not too worried about it as its a new phone. Im sure some roms will fix these issues, if there isnt one out there that already does.
I'm using the latest TrickDroid ROM and I've noticed that sometimes the phone does not connect to data when I leave wireless. The wireless call quality is hilariously bad.
Hello!
I have had terrible WiFi signal no matter what router I use for a very long time. Today I just flashed the fully stock JB image from Odin, then rooted and unlocked my bootloader to flash the 747 kernel because it said it had WiFI driver updates, but I still get terrible signal. I can barely use my WiFi at my house, my school, and at work. I know that there are known issues with the WiFi but I figured after the JB update or at least a new kernel with updated drivers, that it would be fixed.
The issue is not only that if it connects, it disconnects, but the reason it disconnects is because the signal is so weak (at least according to my phone). Most of the time I can't even see the WiFi networks but I had someone with a Galaxy S3 right next to me and they had perfect WiFi signal while I couldn't connect, so I am completely lost at what to do next.
Any help would be much appreciated
