gorilla glass - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that this has been asked before but i couldnt find an answer. Just cracked the glass on my transformer. Not the screen or anything else. Works fine its just that the glass is webbed. Anywhere to buy the glass and replace it myself. Or somewhere that doesnt charge and arm and leg. Thanks

I would have to say that your best bet would be eBay
Anywhere you go they'll probably charge you an arm and a leg for it
Good luck

[Q] Outer glass replacement Samsung Galaxy S i9000

I just broke my gorilla glass from samsung galaxy s i9000. The display is working, it doesn't have any problems, but the glass is all broken.
Is there any way to replace just the outer glass, without buying the full display, and if yes, how can I do that?
I've seen on ebay the outer glass just to buy, but I don't know if there's a method of changing that.
Thank you!
I'd say it's possible but freaking hard. If I remember well, I've read that the glass and the display is glued together or something like that? So if you managed to get those away from each other, and can place the new one nicely, maybe ^^
Youtube will be your friend on this one, there are plenty of guides on how to do this, and plenty of parts available to do so. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, there are likely small stores that can do it for you. I know in Hamilton, there is a small shop in the middle of one of our malls that do phone repairs like this, you might have luck looking for an electronics store in your area that offers the same sort of service.
i have broken the glass of galaxy s
i have also the same problem..
my gorilla glass is cracked..
can u give me the link from where i can buy the gorilla glass for my samsung galay s gt-i9000..

Any one willing to donate a Dead Captivate

basically my front glass lens got a crack (LCD is fine) and my back housing has been worn out. If any one willing to donate a dead Captivate will really appreciate and will pay the delivery cost to Middle east.
If nobody helps you out, care to provide your phone for my project?
amazon.com, search captivate digitizer. if not on there, Google it. you can buy replacement parts.

Here you go. And why in god name does it cost that much? This phone is an antique at this point! $124 for a screen? Perhaps thats why the OP was hoping someone might have a dead one, probably cheaper to buy a broken captivate than buy a new screen!
I know it seems late, but get a screen protector, it helps your fingers glide over the cracks without getting cut. If you already have one, buy a new one, i know atfer a while it clouds the screen, and that plus the cracks will make you hate the phone.
A nice new clear screen protector will let you be able to tolerate it for a while longer....
I know what im talking about.....
heres my cracked cappy... it still worked too! i used it like this for a good 4 months or more, then bought a used one off a co-worker for 100 bucks.

I bought a replacement "glass only" off ebay for 9 bucks, but upon more research and watching a bunch of youtube videos, i found out the LCD digitizer and glass are bonded together, so there was no way of removing the old glass without damaging the LCD.
I installed the replacement glass over-top of the cracked glass, it helps see past some of the cracks, and stops my fingers from getting sliced by the sharp edges of the cracks. its sometimes hard to activate the 4 bottom capacitive buttons through the double glass, but I only use that phone for testing and skype.
Any luck repairing it?

[Q] samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket

I just want a new glass. My digitizer works perfect so anyway I can just get the glass? I don't wanna spend 200 bucks for a screen and a digitizer. I just want a new glass. Is it possible?
I haven't seen them separately. Not sure though

I haven't seen just the class but you could buy one with a fried digitizer and then just use a heat gun to remove the glass.
Eating Kitty's in my Skyrocket fueled by CM9
I sent mine in to Samsung and they replaced the glass/digitizer for $145.00
I suspect they sent me a whole new phone tho.
Found just the glass on ebay for $20
Ok, so I found the glass only as well but am not sure if that can be replaced without buying a digitizer too. I have a couple deep scratches but nothing is cracked. I just want to replace the glass. Can this be done? Is it glued to the digitizer? I have not been able to find a "How to" showing just replacing the glass.
Thanks for any info.

I replaced with $15 glass from ebay. I used a hair dryer. The whole glass is glued to the display, so it took several hours. Maybe a heat gun would work better. I also chipped a polarized sheet that was between the display and the glass. Touch screen still works, but not as well as it did because of the slight space between screen and glass, if I squeeze it down again and turn the screen off and back on it works fine for a little. Probably would use better glue or something next time.

[Q] Alternative Replacement for Glass Panel

Hey guys, I stupidly choose to take the glass panel of the front of my tf101 (it had suffered liquid damage months before, which left white patches all over the screen which i trying to fix) in doing so i shattered the glass panel.:silly:
im really not sure how the whole digitaliser thing works, but im assuming that glass serves no purpose other than a protective surface? if so is it possible to replace that glass panel with a thin piece of plastic, as theres no point spend alot of money on a proper replacement that i will most likely shatter again.... also i now own a tf300t so i cant justiy the price of a replacement (just so i can test the new linux developments)
Cheers
I really wouldn't tbh, if you aren't willing to go for the repair it may be best to sell it or permanently use hdmi-out / a mouse. To quote a post

No, it is not possible.
There is a place you can get the glass digitizer, but they require that you buy at least 10 at a time. Furthermore, removing the old glass and putting on a new glass is a very complicated procedure. Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, not pressure failure resistant. You've no idea how thin the glass digitizer is. It's slightly thinner than your credit card. Without the proper experience and the right equipment, the slightest pressure point could crack it.
BTW, I speak from experience. I'm not just another crackhead.
I live near a guy that does electronic repairs for a living. A few months ago, he ordered a whole bunch of these digitizer glass for the transformer. He thought he could make a profit from repairing people's TF's or get the ones with broken glass, repair, then resell for a profit. Funny story about this, actually. So, I managed to get my hands on one of the TF glass digitizer. Spent all night to perform the operation. Almost done when I accidently applied a small pressure. Cracked it. Frustrated, I put it up on ebay. It was immediately bought that same night by the guy I was talking about. That's how I got to know him. He bought it for $200. A couple days later, he put it up on ebay. It turned out he had broken a glass and scratched another. He took it as a sign to get out of that business right away. Later when I got to know a few people who wanted to repair the thing themselves, I sent them his info and let him sell them the rest of his glasses.
The point is we simply don't have the right equipment to do these things. And even when we do, the material cost is just ridiculous, not to mention labor.
It's best that you put yours on ebay and get a new one.

He is referring to repairing the digitizer, while yours is fine, the repair has the potential of breaking the digitizer as well. It'd take alot of effort and patience, if you possess this I definitely say go for it though , not to be discouraging, I just warn you to be careful.
As far as getting a replacement part, I'm not sure plastic will work, I searched a bit but couldn't find a definite yey or nay as to whether it will conduct with the digitizer properly, but it may.
You may beable to get a cheap glass replacement as well, but I know the tablet comes with Gorilla glass stock.

Thanks for the reply man, I'm actually typing this off it now turns out where it shattered it didn't really hit the screen mostly stayed over the black out line, with a few hairline cracks but still usable I just taped up the worst of it then chucked an screen protector over it, gonna just use it for HDMI output mostly

Shield tablet k1 screen cracked =(

Hey guys,
My son accidentality dropped his shield tablet today and cracked the screen. It managed to crack it even though it had tempered glass on it. It still functions properly. I peeled the tempered glass over carefully to avoid any shards of glass coming out with it. Then, I put a new tempered glass over top of it to hold the glass in place. My son is in love with this thing. He is constantly playing it. I was going to just buy him another one. I thought now that they are dang near obsolete they would be cheap. However, on ebay people are still charging an arm and a leg for them. I do not think people are actually buying them for the prices that they are asking unless it is little kids that see the words "gaming tablet" and have mom and dad fork over the money. As a single parent I just do not have the money to dish out at this time. I have searched high and low for a screen replacement which is a no go. Even emailed some place in India that claimed they had non OEM screens. No response from them. I can not even find one for parts. I just need the glass. If anyone has one of these laying around that they retired, battery croaked, some other damage, but has intact glass could you help me out please? I would highly appreciate it. Like big time!
Thanks,
Rocky
