How to return to UCKJ2 after running new ICS leak? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

So I installed new ICS leak using I727UCALC4_OneClick and was running fine but all of a sudden lock screen stop working. I reset the phone and ran it again and phone now freezes up every 5 mins. How do I get back to 2.3.5 UCKJ2? I already tried using Odin and flashing stockrecovery.tar and no luck still stuck on ICS. I downloaded SGG-I727-UCKJ2-k0kane.7z and also SGH-I727UCKJ2_I727ATTKJ2.rar but when I go into dl mode computer can't recognize these two files or just can't find them. I need help please, thanks in advance.

You probably need to unzip the .7z and .rar file to use them. I believe Odin only "sees" .tar files.
Make sure you read the instructions carefully and know what you're doing.

K0nane's thread should work for you if you read and follow the directions.
SamMobile.com also has original Skyrocket firmware that flashes via Odin. The SamMobile version is a more complete install that is reported to not trip the counter and show as "original Samsung firmware". I havn't tried either version so you need to read for yourself before you ask any questions or try anything.

ODIN doesn't look for files. You need to tell them where there are by clicking on PDA and choosing the tar from wherever location you saved it.

You need to unzip the files with an extractor. It has to be a .tar file to get Odin to see it. Plain and simple.

Yeah since its a .7z and .rar file, you'll need to download WinRar or 7zip to unzip them.
Winzip probably won't suffice. Good luck.

File was corrupted not sure why, now in dl mode I get error message that says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. I'm dl another one now and will unzip to see if that works, I'm crossing my fingers. Thanks

It worked but baseband isn't UCKJ2 and I keep getting foreclose message that google services isn't working :/ baseband is I727UCALC4

I strongly suggest you completely stop what you are doing and actually do a little research and reading before you go any further. Every issue you have encountered has been identified many times and is always caused from people not taking the time to learn about what they are doing for they jump right in. YOU WILL END UP WITH A BRICKED PHONE IF YOU CONTINUE WITHOUT READING AND RESEARCHING!
The Kies message was brought up several times today in other threads relating to this ICS leak. You need to read all of the threads related to it.
I mentioned the counter in this very thread...if you would have read it. The baseband (radio) isn't flashed with K0nane's TAR or most other ROMS (unless otherwise stated). You have to go to the "Radio" thread in the DEV section and flash it through CWM seperately. It has been reported (by others) that the firmware at SamMobile WILL flash the correct modem and (I'll say it again) will not trigger the counter.
DO what you want, its your phone, but if you aren't going to take the time to learn about what you are doing you will be the owner of a bricked phone.

[Q] SGS4G on GB ROM - No Call Logs!

I updated my SGS4G to GB ROM and rooted as provided on this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128412
All working fine till now EXCEPT for CALL LOGS. There are no call logs!
Here are the symptoms:
a. missed call gets registered - working normally.
b. calls made won't register - Call log empty.
c. calls received won't register - Call log empty.
Is it just me or everybody is facing the same problem?? Please and Thanks in advance!
How do I fix this issue?
P.S: Non-rooted GB ROM also showing the same symptoms, not that the rooted ROM has anything to do with it, just mentioning.
~Androcton.
Call Logs working fine with me, installed busybox and root is confirmed. Although I am having problems with the Bluetooth icon in the Notification area, everytime I click it it force closes and hides my notification bar

KF2 Update
Updated to KF2 and there seems to be a couple fixes including the bluetooth crash fix.
One issue found both in KF1 and KF2
Connect a regular headset to SGS4G phone and the inbuilt microphone gets disabled, the other party can’t hear you talking at all. Ideally, the phone microphone should be enabled if it detects a regular 3.5mm stereo jack. And it should disable the microphone only when it detects the handsfree with microphone. It should be able to do this. Froyo didn’t have this problem. This is an injected defect in Gingerbread.
No call logs
i have updated my firmware to gingerbread and now i have no call logs on my phone ....
Galaxy S 4G
Incoming calls are registered but outgoing are not.

Try the VUVKF2 ROM - some fixes from KF1 and the call log issue sure looks like it is fixed
Also FYI,,, the music playing when i remove/plugin the headphone glitch has also been removed....
Running the VUVKF1 gingerbread rom and the call logs are fine. Didn't notice that the bluetooth button in the notification bar caused FC until brought up lol.
Where do i get it?
Is there stable KF2 Firmware that i can use ?
And where can i get it ?
The one that i use is from samfirmware.com
It says that it is a T-Mobile FW.
Can some one point me to a KF2 FW that is from T-Mobile?
Also is there a way to go back (Just in case) to Froyo 2.2.1 that i had before ?

There is a stable KF2 from Tmobile( more stable than KF1). Here is the link below.
Leaked KF2 ROM with all bloatware from T-Mobile
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139326
The procedure you have to follow to root is here,
(but download the KF2 ROM package from the 1st link)
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131230
Finally to root KF2, use the zimage-root-patch from this link
--> http://pradeepclicks.com/sgs4g/zImage-root/zImage
Follow everything to the letter from link 1 and you should be all fine.
Note: If you face problems getting into download mode using the Vol-, Vol+, USB cable method, Follow one of the methods mentioned in this link below.

OK, so if i do not have to root, i can just flash my device with odin?
There are 2 files in the rar, one is the rom and the other is DLL
So how do i use this exactly, what options should i check in odin?

Yes, You can just flash the ROM with ODIN, exactly like you did for KF1, except for the bootloader part, which will NOT be present. KF1 bootloaders are just fine. Just keep in mind that to get to the download mode is a little different because GB has a changed key sequences Refer to the link that I posted earlier if you face problems getting into download mode.
There are 2 files in the rar, one is the rom and the other is DLL
I am not quite sure which package you picked up, if you downloaded from the link I posted, you would be getting a *.tar.md5 file which you would be 'ODIN'ing like you did for KF1.
So how do i use this exactly, what options should i check in odin?
Exactly like you did for KF1.
I have the KF1 installed, if that helps.
Personally, I prefer heimdall, because you know what exactly you are flashing because you are selecting it manually each time ( like modem, cache, zimage, etc etc)
Again, the SGS4G BIBLE is the perfect thing for you to start. ODIN or HIEMDALL - it describes you how to go about it.

I am very grateful for your help, but this last post just got me more confused than i was before.
When i flashed the first time there were more files so i saw this guide :
droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-odin-flash-updateupgrade-samsung.html
It showed me what options to select in odin and what files to pick.
This rom has 2 files, so its different, all i need to know is how to use what i have.
The link you gave me is awesome, but it just confusing me with this endless info about everything. it is hard to find what i need to do EXACTLY in my current situation.
Can you please just tell me what options to select in odin ?
THANKS.

Ok, here it goes, the SS_DL.dll is useless, as far as I know. You can ignore it. And you can procede with the flash using the other file *.tar.md5 . And follow the instructions provided in the link that you followed earlier to flash KF1. That should get you going. Hope it helps.

I just need an instruction to flash it with ODIN.
Should be simple instruction : select this and that and click start.
I already know how to go to download mode and everything ...
Just the options in ODIN.
Do i select this file as Bootloader or Phone ?
I have now the KF1 does t mean that it wil use bootloader of KF1 or do i get new one here?
Why sometimes its several files and sometimes its just one?
Thanks, i hope that i am not getting on your nerves, but you WILL help me i know!

Vibrant 4g bricked????

Okay i have a question about the T959v. Here are the facts: Phone was flashed with ODIN but the repartition box was checked. It was my fault because i didn't double check before flashing. Now the phone is in a recovery bootloop when i try to turn it on. I can reach DOWNLOAD MODE but then again if i try to flash it again same thing will happen. Is there something i can do or is the phone bricked because of that???? Thanks in advance!

I think Odin will auto re partition when you flash the pit. You can un check it and it should be fine either way.

I think you need the csc. If your just flashing the pit and pda your missing the other partitions. I think when you repartitioned it wiped the partitions and you are missing one or more.

I had the same problem that you are experiencing. The fix for me was to get a full Factory load that was verified to be for the GalaxyS4G. Which is the model number that you listed. The Odin that I loaded is T595VUVKF1. This requires that you load each file in the proper Odin category. Use the Pit file, PDA, Phone and CSC files. Leave the repartition box checked and you should get your stock image back, from there you can install CWM and flash another image.
Allright thanks a lot! I knew something like that was happening but i have not been able to find a firmware with those files divided i mean the csc, pda, and phone files separated. Everything i found has been the package that you just file in pda... If anybody know where to find that i appreciate the link.

OK you said in your OP that you can get into DL mode. Follow the second post of that guide for getting Heimdall One-Click up and running. Then flash heimdall per the directions of the guide. You'll want to flash WITH bootloaders. Just relax and read through it. It will fix your problems.
Before you do anything, uninstall Kies Mini and use usbdeview to uninstall android and samsung drivers. Then proceed with Lumins guide. If you DO NOT UNINSTALL DRIVERS I can assure you there is no way to get out of hard brick unless you have a jig.
Tip: Uninstall drivers that has the name Samsung or Android.

Actually not true. If you use a different USB port then the one the Kies drivers are linked to Heimdall Drivers will install just fine. I've got Odin, Heimdall, and ADB running for two different phones on my laptop. And this guy is soft bricked not hard bricked.

Cant say that I have. It could be I havent ever flashed a rom not for this phone.
AdamOutler says one clicks have a safety that keeps you from flashing the wrong software. That might be what is happening. Maybe the op needs to use heimdall-frontend to flash a tar.gz. /shrug.
nemeancestus are you comfortable using regular heimdall? You can flash the files used in the one click with heimdall-frontend. I will link the tar.gz, download it. In heimdall-frontend the first tab will give you the ability to load a package. Browse to the folder you downloaded it in. It will decompress the tar.gz once that is done in the package files pane it will list the files. Once it does that select load it will take you to the flash tab and load the files for you. Now put your phone in download mode and it should show as connected in heimdall. Dont change any of the options set. Just hit flash. After that it should reboot and you will be on stock plus blastoff kernel. You will need to flash a different rom tho wifi does not work and it doesnt have busy box or su preinstalled. Just reboot to recovery and flash a new rom.
The link might not be active yet give it some time I just put it on drop box.

That's what I'm thinking. Or when he flashed with Odin he flashed vibrant firmware to it? Have you ever seen that error before?

I think you are right. He probably has the phone but flashed a vibrant rom. He refers to "Eugene's Froyo Rom"
Check the link and forum name.

You said you've tried everything -- without attacking you I don't exactly believe this. ODIN isn't the ONLY way to "ODIN" or restore to factory default.
Try this. It's easy to use, fast, and there's tons of support on it. Most people who have had problems like this have solved it with Adam's tool.

Be sure to thank the OP in that thread if this helps you.

[Q] Phone Bricked Please Help

Hi,
I was trying to root and install a custom rom on a friends phone. She has T-Mobile Galaxy S 4G. I was rushing through the whole project cause I had work and accidentally installed T-Mobile Vibrant Stock 2.1 using Heimdall. It was my fault. I did a google search for SGH-T959, but failed to realize that SGH-t959U is Vibrant and SGH-T959V is Samsung Galaxy S 4G...
After flashing the wrong ROM, I could not get it back into Download mode. I removed the SIM, SD card, Battery, and then tried putting it back into download mode (without the SIM or SD card) and that worked. I was able to get it into download mode at that point, but it would still not turn on or boot into recovery.
After realizing it was the wrong Flash, I searched online and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498 , after searching for users who bricked their phone previously and this was listed as a solution... the phone doesn't boot now however. It loads into Samsung Recovery (3e) and gives the error:
--Applying Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to '/system/csc/TMB/system/'
Successfully applied multi-CSC
Each time i try to 'reboot system now' it just loops back to recovery with the same error. On that link i listed above, it says to install bootloaders if that CSC issue exists. Problem is, each time i try, it says PIT failed and then it just disconnects and wont reboot, requiring me to reflash the package all-together.
This phone was originally on 2.3.6 and the problem is I tried rooting using Vibrant instructions which was to go back to 2.1, then flash root, then CWM, then custom ROM.
How do i get this phone working again. I can pick up where i left off as far as rooting and installing a custom ROM. I have experience with it... But I have no idea how to get this phone out of this soft-brick. Can anyone please assist me. I feel terrible for messing up my friends phone.
Thanks a bunch!
TL;DR - Soft bricked SGS4G by flashing Vibrant ROM, tried to correct using SuperOneClick heimdall, doesnt work. please help. Originally was completely stock.
Read the second link in my signature and see if it helps you with Heimdal.

Yeah, I've read that when I was searching for a fix on my lunch break. My laptop is a MAC however. Which is why I didn't ODIN. I lost my Windows partition a while ago, along with my Windows CD.... Is there anyway I can get some MAC instructions?

Get heimdall 1.3.1 for mac os x here. There is 1.3.2 and 1.4.0-rc1, but don't use them, just use 1.3.1 for now!
Read the install instructions here.
After that, you should be able to do the oneclick on your mac.
Just replying to the OP... Still follow the instructions in my previous post.

The CSC error is just a red herring. Don't worry about that error. The one to worry about is not being able to flash the PIT!

Yea... Don't do that. Follow only instructions for the SGH-T959V, Galaxy S 4G. Do not ever, EVER, follow instructions for any other phone, unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Make sure you only follow instructions for the SGH-T959V, Galaxy S 4G! As I said above.
Either follow the instructions in my oneclick sticky thread, or follow lumin30's guide.
Make sure you try different usb cables. Make sure the ports on the computer and phone are clear of obstructions. Check in the cable connectors too. If all that still doesn't work, try a different computer. You could have bad usb ports. This has happened to me before, but it was a double whammy. I had bad usb ports on my computer and a bad usb cable.

With that in mind, does anyone have a link to the most up to date Stock ROM not rooted. The Sticky Page has a dead link and the workaround link takes me to the OneClick ROM install that gave me the problem to begin with. I'd rather use the instructions to flash it myself and choose the file instead of doing the OneClick option. Does that make sense?

Yeah i followed Vibrant instructions on accident. It was a careless mistake. Ill ignore the CSC error then and Ill try using a different USB port. My usb cable is brand new from my SIII. I don't think its a problem. But my mac USB ports are pretty old.

Uhm, In the very first post of this thread, is this link. This is the totally back to stock oneclick.
I just downloaded it. Link works fine.
Yes, I realize you'd like to just run "heimdall" to flash everything, but it is so error prone.
The oneclick works for me on mac, linux, and windows. Again, if you have problems, list out each step you made and the results and we'll help
Just open a terminal, type:
Code:
java -jar T959VUVKJ6_STOCK-UVKJ6-One-Click.jar

OK. I followed this. It DIDNT work. Ill list the steps i did.:
1) Redownloaded the one click listed above to ensure its not a corrupted download and verified
2)Placed file in my user folder (MAC Terminal defaults to this folder which is why i chose it)
3) Checked my Java version using Software update on MAC. Java was already up to date.
4)Opened Terminal
5) typed ls to confirm i was in the correct directory.
6) typed 'java -jar T959VUVKJ6_STOCK-UVKJ6-One-Click.jar'
7) Terminal began doing its thing.
8) I already have the Samsung Drivers. I've had Samsung Facinate and i currently have SIII so thats all up to date. Once i verified, i skipped the samsung drivers step.
9)I skipped the x86 step cause i know MAC has its own version of it already installed. My MAC version is 10.6.8
10) Connected phone to USB port, put in download mode.
11) Waited til phone was recognized with OneClick AND my MAC,
12) Ready to Flash
13) Clicked Flash
14) Flash successful, phone automatically powers down, reboots
15) Phone automatically loads into Android Recovery (3e) and gives error CSC mumbo jumbo i quoted in my first post
16) I needed bootloaders since I accidentally put Vibrant ROM. (per instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2 )
17) Removed Battery, Reconnected to MAC and placed in Download Mode
18) Clicked Flash Bootloaders, bypassed the warning, clicked Flash.
19) Uploading PIT, PIT upload failed!, Ending Session..., Rebooting Device...
20) Phone shuts off and never reboots, stays as a black screen, cant turn it on, load into recovery. I can ONLY load it into Download mode.
I followed these instructions as directed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2 . Tried different USB cables and also tried BOTH USB ports. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Just double checking, This is t959v, not t959w... right? T959W has some issues with heimdall and odin that are still being worked out.
When i originally encountered the problem. I downloaded the 'back to Factory stock rom' for vibrant. It was an ODIN file so it was .tar, I downloaded its associated PIT file.
I loaded the PIT file into heimdall under the 'flash' tab
i extracted the .tar file and found 6 files. i took each file and loaded them individually to heimdall 1.3.1 under the 'flash' tab.
I had 6 files in there: cache, dbdata, factoryfs, modem, param, zImage.
Once I flashed those it wouldnt boot and was just black. could only go into download mode.
Then I realized i messed up and used the wrong ROM.
Came into this thread for SGS4G
Found the right files.
Phones been broken since and ive been following the instructions listed above. hope that makes sense. im at my work desk. sorry. Ill try to find the link of the go back to factory stock file i found on the vibrant forums but it was whatever vibrant came with out of the box. and it was a verified stock ROM. I just followed the instructions to the T until I encountered problems.....

Ok, so it sounds like you need to try a different computer.
I know this is a pita, and I'm not trying to make things more difficult then they are, but as I said before. I've had this issue and had to buy a new computer. :crying:
Just thinking aloud, could try the kc1/kd1(froyo) firmware? Then move to gingerbread.

So out of curiosity I just unpacked this Ravers KJ6 for Odin which was harder to find than I thought because Raver likes to spell offical instead of official. But I digress. The kicker here is that there are only 5 files.
cache.rfs
factoryfs.rfs
modem.bin
Sbl.bin
zImage
If I where the OP I'd DL that then unpack it. Reverse engineer what you did the first time by using the proper .tar through heimdall. If it worked once to totally hose you it just might work again to save you. Or it might not. Either way it's worth a shot. Good luck man.

I'll try that now. But dbdata is missing. Is that an issue? What is dbdata for anyway?

Yes that is what I mean.
I don't own a vibrant so I have know idea what dbdata is for. Maybe someone will chime in with a better answer. Doing it this way you should be able to get the phone back to where it was. Again this is my best guess at how to try to fix it. Plus it's really hard to brick a brick(bad joke I know but i had too).
