Last night I noticed every time I use my phone, rather I call or answer a call, its automatically on speaker phone and I have to turn the speaker off.
Infuse 2.2.1 rooted stock AWESOME WORKING ROM with all Go theme stuff...
what could be wrong? I can't figure it out.
Same issue here. It really confuses me.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the upgrade. I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.2.1 lastnight when all this started.
No mines doing it to can't figure it out. I haven't changed anything in over a month

On my Inspire there is a DOCK setting that would cause this. I do not know if the infuse has it or not but something you can look for?
It's a bug that happens when new rom is flashed and the phone apk gets messed up....
Could happen on any new rom and side effect is always the same - call is answered and immediately goes to speaker phone...
Have to wipe data/factory reset and flash again usually...

I have been having the issue on my Infuse as well, in addition to screen rotation being stuck on, no matter if I turn off the settings to do so. After finding the dock settings under general settings, telling my phone to force an undock, this fixed the issue. A side note, I have a backup battery case that is always plugged in; I had to remove the case to turn off the docking settings, because with the case the phone always thought it was docked.
I hope this helps.
I can't get my phone to let the others hear me unless i put it on speakerphone first, and then turn the speaker phone off! I am having this issue in so Two of the Roms that i wanted to keep using........Octane 2.x and Valhalla!!
And ideas of what this may be?
It's a sprint issue. My ns4g had been this way all day. also my girlfriends evo.

The that worked before i flashed to either Valhalla or Octane was Black Ice Voodoo from Krylon360
here is all i could find
http://androidforums.com/incredible...people-cant-hear-me-without-speakerphone.html
so what this states is that some have success with factory reset, and/or clearing the caches several times. or it could be an app, try simply simple rom.
could be an app, some say problem with head phone jack and suggest to clean "There was an issue with the headphone jack. Take a set of headphones (ear buds) and dip the plug into some alcohol. Slide the plug in and out of the jack several times. Wipe the plug and repeat."
'This happens to me when i unplug the headphones without exiting music player remix first. To fix, I restart the musicplayer, plug them in, exit the program, unplug.
The thread "stuck in headset mode" talks about the other variations of the problem."
or an app, like voice recorder is set on it to automatically turn on speaker phone.
so if still having problems after all this then its a hw problem, so fix go to t-mobile or put speaker phone on all the time by using voice recorder app. you have to look into how to do that. i hope i help some what.

Ok, I don't know if you have a voodoo kernel but I fixed mine by unchecking hi-fi recording in the voodoo control app. I guess it's a bug with voodoo on some kernels.

I will definitely tried that option out! never realized that one! lol
Updated my Nexus S from Gingerbread to ICS 4.0.4 (OTA), but ever since then, the incall handset volume has been extremely low - so low that I can't even hear the person on the other end if I'm outside of any 'quiet' (library quiet) room. Has anyone else experienced this as well?
Any ideas on how I can fix this? I've read that the app "Volume +" might be a solution, but I would need to root the device and its also not a guarantee. Would love to hear from someone who has had this problem and how they rectified it...
Couple of details:
- Carrier: Rogers (in Canada)
- OS: ICS 4.0.4
- NOT Rooted
- Samsung Nexus S
Thanks a lot!

Volume+ won't fix your in call volume, believe me. So don't go that route, you'll only waste your time. The Nexus S has always had a very low volume, but I didn't notice a change from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4 to be frank.

Thanks for the heads up. If you didn't notice a change, then I'm wondering why I did. Do you think its worth it to re-install 4.0.4?
Do you know of any workaround to have this resolved if I did root it?

I find it strange myself. If you look around you'll see the internet is littered with "complaints" regarding the Nexus S low volume, dating back to the Gingerbread day too. I'm not sure a re-install of 4.0.4 will help you.
I have never really found a workaround to increase the in call volume, so if anyone knows I'd be interested too. Rooted or not, I don't mind.
Maybe problem of headset? I don't use the stock one, I have 2 other headset, one of them was too low ,other one was just too loud even hurts my ears...

I think, in your case maybe first to radio, try older one as we know ICS will update your radio to KI1

It's a known "issue" though, the Nexus S always had a very low in call volume compared to many other phones. It's not absolutely inaubdible, but it's definitely not your Nokia brick either. In a crowded place it gets difficult to hear, even with your ear pressed firmly against it. The speaker however does decently, but then everyone can hear your conversation.

More than once. The radio signal has little to do with the volume however.
I have same issue too, network call mic volume is very low, yahoo or skype or network call with loudspeaker on mic volume becomes normal
i recently bought infuse and i liked the phone very much but when ever i am making a call people o the other end always complaining about my voice its disturbed or sounds like i am talking from long distance , but when i close my hands to the micro phone then people are able to hear ...please help me....it would be great if i found a solution please help me
Pretty strange problem you got right there.
I never had those problems, but I know that iPhone series have that problem sometimes. Especially old ones.
Mine is just working like a charm.
You should try to flash beanstalk.
Then test the mic, if it's not working as it should, that could be hardware defect.

if you want to try a different modem, check out the development thread for modems
if you want to see if its the phone mic, try a voice recording..if the recorded sound is low, it may be the mic port or inside the phone.
open the phone and clean out the ports and connectors
instructions to open is on youtube..look for infuse screen replacement
Ok, I'm kind of freaking out and don't know what just happened. I loaded the newest stock image and now when I try to call my work cell, my work cell will ring but I hear dead air on my phone now.
Im selling the phone in 4 hours and I'm dealing with this problem now. Please help.
