Hello.
I installed the PYRO ICS. it works great. thanks for all the effort. I have one issue, If my phone shuts down due to law battery, it does not turn back on by pressing power button. i have to remove battery and sim card and only then it powers on.
This is reproducible every time. i have wiped the cache once and also have 5.0.2.7 cowomod.
Please advise.
Thanks.
you mean after you recharge it?
or just after it shuts down? because that would be intentional behaviour then
off course after charging it
Are you running a stock battery or an Anker? If I run my Anker down to nothing and it shuts down it won't
charge on USB. I have to pull it and put it on the external charger that came with my two batteries. I don't have this problem with the stock battery.

I am not sure of the different types of battery. I think my issue is that the phone does not turn on. it charges fine.
Thanks.
Stock battery is black and has HTC printed on it. The Anker is White and has, well, "Anker" printed on it. If you have a bad battery it could cause any number of issues. You might try flashing back to your stock nandroid and see if that helps (Isolating software issues from hardware symptoms).

Are you using the old madaco recovery? If so update your recovery in rom manager, that should fix it.

If your phone shuts down due to low battery, instead of taking the battery out to try to get it to go on, try this while having your phone plugged in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242450
I'm in pyro-ice too, and it works for me !
It also helps a lot when it freezes. I hope this helps.
i think your problem is different. Isnt the lights of your phone on the buttons still on when this happen? Are you sure the battery is off?
It might be "just" the blackouts of screen that some users have. I had some too, but changing to Trebuchet launcher seems to help with that. In the upcoming 1.0.2 release ROM will run Trebuchet, hopefully it will help with your problem.
I read your 1.1.0 thread where you mentioned that the phone cannot be turned on when plugged in. thats what i was doing. I didn't try removing the charger and then turn on. thanks for the help.
have an issue about powerin phone on when i completly drained my battery. after i put it for chargin, notification led was blinking for a long time not like usually (u cant power phone on before orange light is solid).reloaded battery and was waiting like for 10-15 min for led stay solid. gud thing its finally happen.
was on pyr`o`ice 1.0.1 or 1.0.2 dont remember exactly
Which battery are you using?

Just picked up a Skyrocket last night.
When the phone is on the charger and you do a power off it looks like she is shutting down, but then goes right back on. Took the charger off and then she powers off as normal.
Anyone else have this or seen this?
This is normal for all phones besides maybe a couple. For example if you're sleeping and you get a big metal pipe shoved up your arse wouldn't you wake up?
Even if you shut it down, if the SR senses there's power there than its going to use it for charging against your will.

Thanks For the reply MOD1441. I understand that it should charge when it's off and the charger is plugged in, But if I want the device powered off it should stay off and charge.
Ive never seen this on a device.
If it goes back on to a screen with a battery charging than the phone is OFF. That's not android, that's part of the devices kernel (It's built in to the hardware)
it does a reboot. Goes right to lock screen. Will not power offf. Do you have the skyrocket?
turn it off and then plug it in.
Had the same issue with a couple of different roms. I don't know if its kernel or rom related, but try some different ones and see if it goes away.

Oh I see. This happened to me on my T-Mo GS2. It was the kernel. I recommend flashing the stock kernel or going back to stock via Odin

Oh wait, you just got it recently, I think you have a defective device, because its never happened to me

Hahahah, love the scientific explaination
skyrocket wont shut off figured out!!!
So your skyrocket wont shut off and sometimes it drains and wont turn on and vibrates while off well I hadthesesame problems and I finally figures it outand its an easy fix. Your skyrocket came with a square power adapter so use that next time you charge it up and it works like it did when you first bought the phone. It turns off and the charging battery animation comes back. Hope this works for all you having this same issue.
*scratches head* ..uuh, yea. In re: to what @warren_gamer said, I agree. But check this out...
I have a factory replacement from AT&T, stock, un-rooted. I have drained the battery down until phone powers off. Upon plugging in with original power adapter and cable, the phone vibrated while off and then turned itself on. I have NEVER been able to get the phone to stay powered off while charging.
The first new SR I had, out of the box, did charge with a battery animation.
So, I'm under the assumption that its a kernel & hardware issue. It's annoying but so is a large pipe up your arse.
I just tested this with mine.
If I turn it off *before* plugging in the power, it turns back on when I plug it in.
If I turn it off *after* plugging in the power, it stays off for me.
Power right now = my computer.

Have you solved this yet? I've had a Skyfire for about 2 months. It always shut off normally, charged at the battery filling display, until this week. I plugged it in to the USB port on a Delta 757 to charge and since then it will not turn off. I've uninstalled the apps that were installed after that, etc. I don't have the Samsung charger with me. I've removed the battery and put it back in to no avail, but maybe I didn't remove it long enough.
Sometimes the answer is right in the question

You said it yourself " I don't have the Samsung charger with me." This phone is sensitive to the correct (or enough perhaps) charging voltage. Once you get home or wherever your charger is, try it again, you may get a positive result from doing so... Worth checking out in any event.
By the way, I assume when you say "since then it will not turn off" that you man it will not turn off while charging, correct? If it won't turn off period, you obviously have deeper troubles. What I would advise is, when you have the Samsung charger: Shut the phone off first, then cable it to the charger. Then, when it boots (which I would expect it to do as this is normal) try to shut it down. Hopefully having the 1.0 amp charger on there will show it who da boss!
I do fing it AMAZING there these come with a 5.0v 1.0a chargeer, the same as the Note, I believe (at least as far as amperage) - I suspect it is because of the big honkin' 1850ma battery these have to overcome the demands of LTE. Shoot, my Transformer Prime has a 1.0a Charger for a Tablet, with 2 batteries, though the voltage is higher.
When I first got my skyrocket it would stay powered off while charging. Once I upgraded to the leaked ROMs it will no longer stay powered off when charging. As a workaround I leave the phone in flight mode.
Hye guys. So I just finished flashing Zeus and Infusion last night. It went without a hitch, and when I went to bed last night everything was working perfectly. But when I woke up this morning, my phone wouldn't turn on. I assumed it had run out of battery, so I plugged it in, but when I did, it made the battery charging sound. I unplugged it, and it made the uncharging sound. When I press the menu and home buttons, it vibrates. I think it's on, but for some reason the screen won't turn on. Help? Thanks.

sleep screen same thing. And from my Experience with them the phone does not shut off completely every thing works except the screen. That's why he's able to here the sounds. When I used to get them the only way I knew it happens most of the time is when I revived a call. The phone would ring and ring (which it could not do if it was off) and I could not answer because of the SOD issue. As I said it's a known issue read up and you will find an answer.

If it's an SOD, you should be able to hold down the power button until the phone reboots. That's been my experience with 3 different ROMs.

Yep. The reboot is the only way to temporally get your phone working again.

Hello fellow XDA members.
I've been with my beloved Nexus S for a little over a year now. We've been through thick and thin. Until now.
My power button is broken (along with a lot of other nexus s users that I found out by research), but I was able to bare with it by maneuvers with my software (volume rocker wake). It would act as if it's being pressed down constantly, so it would automatically power on when a battery is inserted.
However, this situation is different. I've done research on this one too, and it also seems common. While using my phone as normal (around 20% battery), the screen just turned black and the phone crashed. Seemed like a common kernel issue. So I battery pull, and the phone won't power on.The charging animation still appears if I connect it to a charger or USB.
As I woke up for work the next morning, I brought my phone along with me. It turned on at a random time while it was in my hand, as it would always do if I were to insert a battery. The phone worked for about a week until the same problem happened again.
I've tried rebooting it with ADB, but it's not recognized. I've tried inserting the battery while it's connected to the charger. Nope. Simultaneous button presses, pounding the power button, you name it. I've also tried a different battery, so I know it's not a battery issue.
I have suspicion it has to due with Jellybean, as several other users experience a problem similar to mine, but much more severe (no charging animation).
I'm running Pacman Rom v 18 with Marmite 7.0 Kernel.
Please, for the love of the Lord, can someone please aid me in finding a solution or inform me of a known one?
Thanks!
Please anybody? I really need a solution ASAP! Thanks again!
I'm sorry for the excessive bumping, but I'm just extremely desperate at this point. I cannot afford to go another day without my phone as I'm losing too much business. Does anyone know a solution or anything to try?
When its on the charger does the screen show that it is charging? Or is it just a blank screen and you "assume" that it is charging ?
Could be the kernal, have you flashed another rom ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, it shows the charging animation, so there's life.
I think its the kernel and the rom combo. But the fact is that I can't even access the phone right now. Any solutions? And my power button is broken.
Hmm so there is no way to access recovery?

There was no way. But the phone turned back on by itself last morning again. I instantly changed my ROM to RasbeanJelly and Matr1x 24.5 CFS. Let's see if the problem comes back.
Thanks anyway, and ill post back here for updates!

When my phone is powered off, it will not charge. When on, it does. When off and plugged into AC, the phone vibrates every few seconds, the "charging battery" display never appears, and LED does not light. This is new behavior. I've reflashed the ML1 firmware (I'm on TouchWiz 4.1.2 still). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

My wife's GS3 did this the other day seemed to be a loose charging cable connector. She tried the one for my Nexus 10 tablet and it worked. I would suggest trying that first if you have any other chargers that work with your phone.

Are you using a custom kernel? This sounds Like a kernel bug

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't matter which charger or battery I use. If the power is off, no charging. If the power is on, charges fine.

Yes, using KT's 4.1.2 TouchWiz kernel. Haven't changed it recently, though. Does the kernel boot when charging while powered off? I've always wondered where the green battery charging screen was coming from...
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I believe that this problem was custom recovery related. I had updated to TWRP 2.7.0.0 around the time this problem began occurring. Since re-flashing TWRP 2.6.3.1, the device charges normally when powered off. This leads me to believe that the "battery charging" screen that displays when the device is powered off is actually booting some component of the recovery kernel for this feature.
