It depends do you want a vanilla android experience or a skinned experience. If you get the SII (or wait for a One or SIII) would would probably have a batter phone but be stuck with wimax (unless you wait) Unless you really want Vanilla I wold suggest you wait till may~ to see what is out.
i would say SII will be better once it gets ICS updates

I'm upgrading my phone soon, and i'm pretty much down to the T-Mobile Galaxy S II or waiting for the Galaxy Nexus.
I'm kind of tired of waiting for Google to release it in the US. And even when it does, it's rumored to be exclusive on Verizon at first so if that's true that could suck.
I really like the Galaxy S II. but have a couple of questions about it.
1. With the Galaxy S II being released so late in the US, is it possible that a Galaxy S III could be coming within the next couple of months and would it be worth it to get the Galaxy S II right now?
2. As for development, are more ROMs expected to come out for this? This probably can't be determined because I guess that mainly has to do with developers wanting to come to this phone. I'm just used to having a lot of ROM choices on my MyTouch 4G and HD2. But even the myTouch 4G took a couple of months before a lot of ROMs starting coming out for it. I probably just answered my own question, but oh well.
Thanks
Edit:
this got moved to the XDA General forum...? thought I put it in the correct place, but not gonna mess with mods lol.
Within a month or two you will see a big influx of ROM's. T-Mobile phones are always heavily developed. And with Cyanogen 9 dropping within 2 months that is when the development will pick up. Alot of devs like to build using their code.
you're right. I've noticed T-Mobile phones tend to be the best when it comes to the developer communities. I mainly want the Galaxy Nexus for Ice Cream Sandwich. But Samsung said it will get an official update and it will probably be ported eventually anyway.
Thanks

Currently owner of sensation but i do want a galaxy nexus because i am an app developer. But thn i see rumors like htc edge witch looks even more awesome.
What to freakin do: D
sent from Sensation with awesome cm7!!!!
Senny isnt bad, if you really like the Galaxy Nexus and can afford it, then go get it, its a nice piece of work, the screen rocks!
You'll be ok with the Senny though, so maybe you can wait for more time, new phones come everyday, if you like something, then take it, or you can wait for something even nicer(quad-core! )
Although, having ics out of the box is a plus point, and as you tell you are an app dev, so it'll help you make newer and better apps, but your phone would get an official update soon.
There is ALWAYS something better just around the corner, you could just wait forever for the next best phone and never buy anything!
wait for galaxy s3

Always get the Nexus. New hardware comes out every month but only the Nexus will run the latest stable version of Android on day one. As a consumer that's great but as a developer that's essential. Plus Sense on Honeycomb is crap and will probably be just as much on ICS.
Got my Desire in October 2010 with eclair on it. Updated it to froyo with the original update. When gingerbread update came out I waited to see what to do. I decided to skip the original one and in early November 2011 I decided to root and try Supernova by Droidzone, which i still have.
My big dilemma now is, since I have an upgrade offer from my mobile company to renew my contract. Get the Sony Ericcson Xperia Neo V for free and sell it to get the money and keep the Desire which thankfully is still heavilly supported in XDA (but we don't know if and how successfull an upgrade to ICS will be), or sell the Desire and keep the Neo V which has better specs and will be officially upgrated to ICS? Any help/suggestions?

So...could you then let me know what the difference of my thread is in contrast to other ones in the General forum that talk about replacing desire with sensation and many other similar threads? Just the question mark at the end of my title maybe? If so...i just took it away, so you can put it back in the General section

TO THE NOTEPAD!!
HTC Desire //
Pros -
+ You can sell the Neo V for 300 bucks
+ Hardware wise it isn't SOOO inferior
+ Gigantic unnoficial support
Cons -
- No official ICS
- Adreno 200 GPU sucks
SE Xperia Neo V //
Pros -
+ Amazing screen with Bravia Engine technology
+ Official ICS Support
+ Superior Hardware
Cons -
- Small Dev support
- You can sell the desire for only 150~200 dollars at best
If I were you I'd stick with the desire and sell the Neo. Then, next year I'd buy a Xperia Nozomi or a Galaxy SIII
Thanx for your reply mate!
Hmm...maybe I have to add something for your notepad pros and cons which will be even in more favor for the xperia. The Xperia neo v is sold for 200 euros here as brand new. So sold as "second hand" will be about the same price as the desire.
Regarding development..its brand new, probably there will be more support as time goes by.
Big dilemma!

I just did, in my message that you just replied to (all of them were just below my one, they couldn't have been missed, plus they are there for some days)..with tapatalk is not easy for me to point you to threads. Also..my message does have a question mark at the end anymore, it has an exclamation mark.
Ps. Too sensitive...to depend on just a question mark. And even more...in not all of them. Right thing should be all or nothing.

Right now my dev phone is a Samsung Captivate...but my carrier is Verizon! Anybody suggest any Verizon smart phones I should use just for developing but I would also be able to use in the future? Running my stock Droid X2 as a daily user and can't risk to mess that thing up. Comment with suggestions guys! Thanks!

Maybe a Droid 4? Seems like there's good connectivity for development in that all the Motos use the same base and that's what you're already used to.
Otherwise I'd wait and see if VZ gets a worthwhile HTC or Samsung in the near future.

What are those Droid 4s going for on the net? Because I'm definitely not getting it through verizon...lol.
Galaxy Nexus
You should either wait for S3 or the new ZTE/Huawei, cheap phones with quad-core
Galaxy nexus as a dev phone

HTC Rezound is the way to go. Its hardware is far superior to any other devices on Verizon's current lineup, it's got an unlocked bootloader, and we've had quite a few breakthroughs in getting AOSP, CM9, and Sense 4 ported over.

Hi you guys,
I have a Samsung Captivate Glide (Bought it the first day it came out woot!)
Unfortunately, It's a very under developed device and I don't use the keyboard as much as I initially figured I would.
So I'm back in the market for a new android device. Preferably one with a strong developer community. ICS roms already running would be a big plus. I use the front camera a lot so thats a requirement.
Something with the best specs possible. I'm on AT&T so it'll need to be compatible with their network.
Thanks,
Kyle

In my opinion, the Galaxy Nexus is the best android smartphone out there. It as hd screen, ICS and it is strongly supported device by the community. And of course vanilla android (my favorite). If you wait until (i guess) Q3 2012 Samsung Galaxy SIII will be released and it will have great specs. And if you like touchwiz on top of ICS (see Galaxy S2 test rom for details) and the "Samsung ecosystem" (Game, Social,Music and Reader hubs)
Now it's up to you!
Prolly best to wait awhile longer until the better phones get released
the only phones worth getting now IMO is the Galaxy Nexus or HTC One S
and personally, ill go for the One S! xD
specs-wise, it's the best phone in the market, again IMO hahaha
