Its not the two extra letters its having a whole root terminal always open when I need it. Don't have to type Sudo for every command I need root privileges for and contstantly entering my password when Sudo times out.

So I'm not sure why this is happening lately, however, every time I boot into recovery mode, I get that triangle image with the exclamation point in the middle on my screen and a message ” Installation Aborted ” on the bottom of the screen. Any ideas on why this might be happening?
Sent from my Crack Injected Doubleshot using xda premium
That has happened to me once before, not sure why it happened though. All you can do really is press volume up and the power button again, hold until you launch the factory recovery screen, should be blue colored font and like only 3 or so options available. One option is to install/load update.zip, thats your CWM recovery image, once you load that you should be good. Its the only way to flash the custom recovey. While we are on the subject, does anyone know how to, or in what folder the recovery image needs to go in so that you can flash directly from rom manager?

If you can hook your phone to your PC and have ADB installed follow the instructions below.
I imagine you can follow them from a terminal emulator on the phone as well, but the / key doesn't work from the hardware keyboard, and on some softkeyboards it's hard to find if it exists at all.
Another thread, with much more detail, is here.

Cool! I got a myTouch 4G Slide!
Not cool! No ClockworkMod recovery!
Solution! Make my own.
You must have a 'S-OFF' device to install this recovery image!
Here is my unofficial MoDaCo build of ClockworkMod for the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide / aka HTC Doubleshot. In order to flash this recovery, you need to have temproot or permanent root via Fr3evo (grab from here, push to /data/local, run via ADB then reconnect after it drops your connection for root access). If you need ADB, you can grab it here.
You use this image at your own risk! Proceed with caution!
To install, simply...
Download the ClockworkMod image file from here
Copy the file to /data/local ('adb push doubleshot.clockworkmod.4.0.0.9.modaco.img /data/local')
Write the image to the recovery partition ('dd if=/data/local/doubleshot.clockworkmod.4.0.0.9.modaco.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p21')
Do a recovery reboot to test ('adb reboot recovery').
That's it!

I'm not sure what exactly you're asking for.
All I did was follow these steps and it was no problem.
If you don't have ADB installed, instructions for installing ADB are here.
I'm pretty new at dealing with this phone, but if you post step by step what you're doing and what step the process breaks down at (i.e. where are you getting unexpected results) I'll try to help you.
I actually got out working again using the method described by unclespoon. I had to use terminal emulator and the copy/transfer the recovery image that way. I'm now back on MoDaco v4.0.0.9 Super excited and about to flash another ROM. I have officially reached flash junkie status.lol

Well, out of paranoia I ran the individual commands by hand. It assumes you have your drivers installed (Samsung Kies), running in USB debug mode, and so forth. Since mostly I did a cut and paste of the commands I'd think they should work tho ... others used the method.
Where did it give you the error?

If you cd to the unzipped folder "files", is there an adb.exe? What happens if you cd into that directory from a DOS prompt and type
Code:
.\adb.exe shell
$ exit
C:\Development\Galaxy S II Skyrocket\root
If you just get a "$ " prompt, it worked correctly. Type exit to get you back to DOS.
(If you aren't running it from a DOS prompt, cd into the directory where you unzipped it and run the file from there.)

if you put the device in debugging mode and plug into the comp without the bat file running the comp should pull the drivers from the web for you. you should do this first.....when it says the device is ready to use, run the .bat file and it should start saying things like sending zerlings......and sleeping and sending more zerlings which will cause a crash and let it run the scripts it needs to root your phone.

yeah, it sounds like the recovery binary isn't getting into /system/bin. if you don't mind confirming.... you are extracting the recovery.zip, and putting the recovery file from in there into /system/bin? (then of course you have the update.zip, which is CWM, on the root of your sdcard)
and are you using a file program to paste the recovery file in there? and if/when you do, is it telling you that the file already exists and asking if you want to replace it?
Yea I extract and I am using root explorer and when I paste it, says 1 exsist and do I want to overwrite, I do so and update is on my sd..so I really am at a loss at y it isn't working...read the forums and people are doing the same as I am and it works...so don't know what my options are to achieve a new rom, lol...thanks for the help

damn, ok, that's strange. the only last thing i can think of is, when in stock recovery, you are choosing 'reinstall packages'?
i hope you figure it out, the files definitely work, i just downloaded and used them a few days ago, so i don't know what's going wrong there.
Yea when in stock I choose reinstall packages, but always get the signature verification failed.....and from what I read its because of the recovery.....but I will keep trying and maybe get lucky on one of them....might just odin and redo the whole proccess again...thanks for the help...

you could try this in Terminal Emulator:
-type su and hit enter
-then do: cp /sdcard/recovery /system/bin
this assumes that you have the recovery file on the root of your sdcard.

Introduction: I call this package my Basic Hacking Tools. This will install BASH, Busybox, IPCTool, STrace, TCPDump, and ViewMem. These are some of the most powerful tools available in the Linux terminal.
Requirements: You must be rooted. This runs on a Windows, Mac or Linux Desktop/Laptop.

Running the application: Ensure you have Java on your computer. Double-click, or right-click-open with java. Ensure your device is in development or debug mode, connect it, click the do it button.
Testing: upon completion, open a terminal emulator program and type 'su' then 'tcpdump'. You should immediately begin seeing all network communications your device partakes in.. you can also try any of the other commands listed above (in lower case of course).

boatloader lol . We dont have a problem with our bootloaders needing unlocked. we need s-off. It's easy to unlock the bootloader. Adam is here for his tool though, not s-off or unlocking.
I looked at the new OTA update...
It has some new stuff that I am fairly confident was put in place to avert the bootloader unlocking...
Here is the OTA: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31360541/S4/2400258.zip
Here is its contents:

You will notice it has a new aboot and a new tz.
They are either unlocking the bootloader or locking it down more...
Do not apply this OTA until one of the 'Elites' talks more about it!
Here are my instructions to block it...
Prerequisites
Must be rooted!
Must have a root level file manager. I prefer ES File Explorer
Instuctions
Start root explorer app
Mount /system as read/write
Navigate to /system/app/
Rename wssyncmldm.apk -> wssyncmldm.apk.bak
Reboot

Thanks for your work, hope to see a cleanrom for this someday.
Thank you!!!! I have been telling everyone to not update without someone looking this thing over, preferably Dan. Also unless AT&T suddenly decided to change how it does business in one OTA (which would be never...) then it's definitely a response to Dan's bootloader unlock.
Ahhh we can't go back can we /: fml

how do we get rid of the annoying notification icon on the top left the red and blue update one already deleted the update file
aboot appears identical in function to original, I foresee no problem flashing this (but I do not know the details of dan's unlock). More than likely, since we know a couple variants of the bootloaderse are around, it is just bringing everyone inline to the exact same firmware.

Since I don't know the details of dan's hack, I can't say without a doubt. I will flash it when I get time.
