Hi, i was wondering if anyone came across this annoying aspect of the keyboard.
When chatting in an IM app (skype/IM+) the keyboard hides itself after pressing enter. Is there a way to stop this from happening? It gets annoying having to bring up the keyboard again and again and again.
I was curious about my Swype keyboard on my Galaxy.
I hit something by accident and the input keyboard area turned into a bunch of big buttons with arrows and direction on them.
Anyone know what this is or how to get it to show again?
I hit the return key fast before I realized it was too late. lol
Thanks.

Swype from the tips key (the one in the bottom left) to the SYM key (the one to the right of it) and you'll pull up a new set of inputs designed to help you navigate text.
for me the swype keyboard keeps freezing and i have to switch inputs to the regular keyboard, then back to swype to reset it. it will last for about a day then freezes up again. I'm running a stock rom on evo 3d. im planning on rooting and running a custom rom, but i was wondering if it happens to more than just my phone.
Hey all,
So I just recently bought the keyboard dock (a little late to the game I know ) and I was wondering if I could add some functionality to it.
First am I able to change what apps open with the function keys? Mainly I want to change the browser button so that it opens Chrome Beta instead of the stock browser.
Also can I add keyboard shortcuts in various apps? Specifically is there any way I can add cntrl+T or cntrl+F etc to Chrome Beta?
Finally, when I lock my screen using the lock function key I cannot turn the screen back on without reach up and clicking the button on the tablet. Is there a button on the keyboard that does this? Does it not work in ICS?
That's about all I can think of right now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know the answers on all your questions yet.
You can bring your tablet to life by swiping your finger over the touchpad, then press the home button to unlock.
Don't think there is a function to attach buttons to self-defined apps for now, anybody: correct me when i'm wrong.
See here for the browser button issue. As far as remapping other keys, that's dependent upon each application.
And if the TF101 w/ ICS is anything like the TF201, there should be a setting for dock power saving. If it's enabled, then the tablet won't wake up to key presses on the dock.

Thanks for this! I was wondering how to do this. I just recently gave out trying to figure it out since the key press is one inch away from my screen icon LOL. I have to say, Google needs to replace the stock browser with Chrome in future Android versions. What an improvement!!
Nice bike in your avatar. Here's my track monster after I mangled my old racebike.

Does this tablet have haptic feedback? I don't have any whatsoever with screen taps. I have none at all with the ASUS onscreen keyboard. I have barely perceptible feedback using the stock Android keyboard. But for whatever reason I get feedback when I power on and power off. Is this normal performance for the TF700 or is this tablet defective?
Can somone tell me when (or if) you have haptic feedback with your tablet?
From my experience yes, on my tf700 as well as my prime both device vibrated upon turning on/

Mine vibrates while turning on as well - but virtually nothing else. With the onscreen keyboard, I can hardly tell the difference with haptic feedback on or off.
If you turn on pin number unlock there's a setting for vibration on the number keys. Try setting it and see if you can feel that.
The on-screen buttons vibrate, but its very faint. Easy to not notice. I dont think the keyboard vibrates at all, but that's easily fixed by installing a 3rd party with more customizable settings.

I think its because this tablet is so heavy. My old prime had pretty strong haptics.

Its definitely a settings thing. Probably to avoid stress if you use the on-screen buttons while docked. My on-screen keyboard (thumb keyboard) could be set to some pretty strong vibration.

Hello, I was having the same issue so I thought I might chime in. Go to settings, language and input, then it depends on the keyboard you are using. Let's say the Asus one. Click the settings button next to the Asus keyboard option. Turn on vibrate on key press. If you are using the superior SwiftKey keyboard, click on the settings button next to that one. Then navigate to the advanced tab. Click audio and haptic feedback. Make sure haptic feedback is turned on. Then set the haptic duration to anything over 55,if you don't you will not feel the key press for some reason. Hope that helps!

If it vibrates on power up/down then it is working... the C7 I got from Best Buy it wouldn't vibrate at all, keyboard , moving apps around, power up or down. Even after toggling the setting , nothing, I had to take it back.
Thats what you should do. Chose Android keyboard, check Vibrate on keypress, go to Advanced settings and set Keypress vibration duration settings to 100ms.
just got my Nexus 5 and really digging it so far.
The one thing I seem to be missing is the voice input key on the stock android keyboard, i still have the option checked for it in settings but all that is in its place now is a comma and with a hold down press just the settings button. it really bums me out i used to use that feature daily on my 4. so this morning i did a factory reset because it was there as i was setting up the phone. what it seemed to me was when i went to the input settings and disabled vibrate on keypress it disappeared and won't come back. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to bring it back?
You need to tick Google voice typing in language and input as an input option as well
you are on the ball! that did it! thanks for helping out a fool so quickly
You're welcome. I keep pressing it by accident because I'm used to the comma key being there on the cm keyboard on my N4.
Only just discovered that pretty much all the symbol keys have long press options, even though they don't display any subset options like the number keys.
This also fixed it for me! Cool
