did u follow the steps correctly. change your icon size .. If u still have no luck.. reduce to the desktop rows to 5 and desktop columns to 6 or 7.. try changing these values. they'b be back to normal again. I had no problem with 6x8 and with icon size of around 70.

[Theme] Updated 09/16 0.2 Evophone 7 cm6.0 and 09/15 nightly

This thing was inspired by newone757 (Layout thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781455) and and his beautiful looking icons and idea. I ended up modifying the elegant steel theme as some of it meshed well with this concept and added some spiffed up the transition animations. This is in it's early stage and needs to be cleaned up some but i'm throwin it out there so hopefully I can get some feed back.

Icons are attatched at the bottom except for the colored tile ones.... Heres the direct link for them http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=391882&d=1283212553 and here is the authors thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769047
Good app to have for this is Colors and the Author is Tim Clark, you can find it on the market. It basically lets you choose from a variety of solid color wallpapers.
The animations have a little more pop to them if you set the transition speed to slow in spare parts.
09/16 0.2 Changes
Fixed graphic issue in contacts
downsized settings icons
cleaned up notification pulldown
little changes to the market and gmail

This is awesome! Any chance for a sense version?
ded secksy!!
Except for the settings menu icons, they're a little bigg, imo
I've been planning to theme the AOSP dialer but I think I may not need to now. I love the minimal look on that one
Updated a few thing to make it look a lot better see first post for changelog. I also found that this theme runs smooth on 09/15 but not so much when I flash snap kernal 7.6. I am running it perfeclty on 9/14's nightly with snap turbo though.
Wow.. Once I saw the first swipe at this "7" concept, I knew there would be more goodies to follow... Since Elegant Steel is a pretty much grey/black/white theme, i'm seeing a version of this which has all of the large elements to it and page titles, but only in a gradient theme with no color.
Hopefully one of the launcher developers adds this functionality to ADW or LP in a more automated process, as its still somewhat of a hack to get the finished look.
Great work..

Yes you can just get the widget icons from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781455
looks nice... will try it out.
Is Snap simply not working on the nightly's past 9/14 then? I believe Spicytuna or Shift said in the Snap thread that the kernel size changed in the stock kernel after that, so that may be the reason.
I'm loving the theme. Is there a way to speed up the market cause search results take forever to pop up also, is there a way to fix the lay over on the search bar? Apart from these issues, wonderful job to all the people who made this possible.
what's the clock and battery widget?

[APP] mClock,v2.2 released

I uploaded my digital clock widget, mClock. I plan on adding more styles and/or options. Let me know what you think, what you would like to see as far as options go and whatever else.
I've attached the QR code and screenshots.
For the fonts in the screenshot I just grabbed some off the web and put them on the sdcard.
Fonts: 1979, Acens, Colwell, Orbitron-Medium, and the built in fonts.
Report bugs: http://bitbucket.org/knoxcoder/mclock/issues
Xml help http://www.maroonedsoftware.com
Templates (skins) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9856429
There is also a donate version, mClock.donate
Looks great so far!
I have some suggestions though,
First of all, I really want a real 24 hour clock instead of the 12 hour clock available.
4x2 widget would be awesome.
Perhaps custom date formatting, for example, I cannot currently do "Sunday, November 7". The default android formatting options would be nice i.e "EEEE, EEE, HHHH, MMMM, d and so on."
Perhaps click to open application..
Maybe shadow options?
Larger font size than 100px? I currently use 128px which perfectly fits my screen from side to side.
Separating different lines would be awesome, for example, I might want month and day number on one row and weekday on another.
24 hr clock: I have the code almost ready for that
4x2 widget: Easy to add
Date format: Sunday, November 7 is already supported. You can turn off the year portion on any of the date formats and change the separator to ,(Space).
Click to open app: I've been thinking of a good way to handle this. I also need to allow clicking to open the options page. I've thought about dividing the clickable area to allow different launch options. If you have a good idea I'm all ears.
Shadow options: The blur effect overwrites the shadow. I haven't figured out a way to get both to work. I may settle for toggling between shadow or blur. But I did have the shadow working on a test build so it's doable.
Larger fonts: Easy to change
Different lines: That's where the different styles/formats come into play. Those take a bit more work but I do plan on providing that sort of thing.
Update to 1.3. Includes 24 hr clock, 4x2 widget and increased font max size
Exellent app mate! Congratulations! I m using it whole evening! So good, so far! I have no further wishes about this app! Loving it!
About the click to open app, why not a application in the launcher for the settings?
24 hour clock option should disable AM/PM automatically?
Still not seeing 4x2 widget?
I like shadow because it can act as both solid blur, shadow and the color is configurable.
Blur seems cut off at top and bottom at big font sizes?
I know it's a hassle for almost no difference but perhaps render it as text instead of a bitmap?
I know I sound whiny but this app has so great potential and is already better than the rest of the clocks, simply awesome work. Love it.
New update fixes the 4x2 issue. I forgot to add it to the manifest file... Also I disable the am/pm if 24 hour mode is on.
As for the shadow, I'll work on it next. Hopefully should have it ready tomorrow night. I have code already that allows you to select the shadow color, x & y offset and the shadow size. It should just be a matter of getting it all in shape and tested.
For the app launch. Do you mean put a item in the configure screen that will launch the app?
The blur getting cut off is a side effect of the clipping, I have an idea of how to solve that but I'm going to delay the fix for now.
I don't mind the suggestions, I like to know what can be improved.
Seems the update service crashes(or simply doesn't start) a lot on 1.3.1 with the 4x2 size?
Text won't fill the 4x2 widget correctly, fonts seem limited to a too small size(only 24 hour clock, won't fit width)?
Another suggestion of mine, 24 hour clocks usually display a leading zero when the hour is a single digit?
What I meant with app launch was to have a normal app (the ones that show up in your app drawer ^^) for configuration and launch custom apps with the widget.
Right now I have no clue why 4x2 doesn't work. It works on the emu but not on the device. The other sizes seem fine though. I'll look into it tomorrow.
Very cool looking digital clock widget! Great design.
My new favorite clock app !
What I really like about it is the way you can change colors.. gradient is a nice option.
Nice work mate !
Upload the APK please
Could you please attach the APK file here for the comfort of downloading?
It would be a great help.
Thanks
Arindam
Added the apk file to the original post.
New release now has shadows, more layout options, another clock format and some bug fixes. However I wasn't able to figure out the 4x2 widget issue so it's disabled for now.
looking awesome.
Good luck on the 4x2 widget.
Figured out the 4x2 issue. Still trying to get a good design on handling the app launch feature. One problem is you can have multiple widgets so if I disable the tap to config then you'll have to delete and re-add to change options. One idea is to have a popup that you either choose the app or the config, not as great as just tap to launch.
Awesome...The best clock widget till date...works great on my xperia x10.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
The clock seems kinda small, seems there is a lot of space to spare. See screenshot, bottom is the size I would want(Self-made clock widget), top is current size.
Awesome update man, 1.5 is simply awesome.
There's something "wrong" with the 1.5 version (market update)..
I've downloaded and installed your attached 1.4.1 file in first post just to be sure my eyes were ok..
When I set clock colours (white 100% and white 50%), the gradient is not as smooth as it used to be on 1.4.1
For the size not being as large as you want, try bumping up the font size and turning off clipping. Set the date's vertical alignment to bottom and the clock's to top. That should give you what you're looking for. And if the font size is maxed let me know and I'll increase it.
For the gradient issue. I know exactly what why it happens. I could go into tech details but basically to get the 4x2 working I had to reduce the rgba depth. I'll go back and increase it for all the smaller sizes.
Yeah, font size was maxed out. Perhaps make that setting a text input, shouldn't have any limits and be precise enough then.
Hey knoxcoder, I LOVE your widget, but as Poodlemastah points out, there's this major drawback of not being able to launch our app of choice when tapping it. This is a must have for all clock widgets.
Most of us like to set our alarms by just tapping on the clock widget, and right now I find myself using TWO clock widgets because of this... yours because it's the best looking, and another one in the adjacent home screen just to launch the alarms app... lol.
Even if it means having to re-add the widget once you add this feature, I still think it will be worth it in the long term... it's just a must-have for most people.
As Poodlemastah has suggested, I think the behaviour most of us would expect is:
Both the "add -> widget" option from the home screen and the icon in the app drawer will take us to the config screen. There, we can set all the parameters as we want them (including which app to launch).
Now, as you've said, there can be multiple instances of the widget, so maybe the ideal setup would be being able to "save" different clock configs from the settings menu (without necessarily applying them to any instance), then choosing which one of them to apply at the moment we add the widget to a homescreen. That way, it wouldn't be such a hassle to re-add them everytime, because the config would be saved.
It would be a matter of making the user conscious of this change by just re-arranging the settings menu: when we open it, it shows the options "Create new clock...", "Edit existing clock...", etc. That way, they would realize each clock is saved independently, and they would be asked for a name first of all, so that they would actually remember what it was called when they want to load it up.
Example:
· I open mClock settings
· I'm presented with 3 options: "Add existing clock to home screen"; "Create new clock..."; "Edit/delete existing clocks...".
· I choose "Create new clock..."
· I'm asked for a name, I name it "My clock".
· I'm then presented with the clock settings screen, which I procceed to adjust to my liking.
· At the bottom, I see 2 buttons: "Save" and "Cancel". I click "Save".
· After that, I'm taken back to the settings screen.
· I now choose "Add existing clock to home screen".
· I'm presented with a list of the existing clocks already created.
· I choose "My clock".
· The clock is added to a home screen (the central one, I guess?), and I'm automatically taken there to see it.
Another way to add a clock would be to go to a home screen, choose the "add widget" option in the launcher, and choose "mClock", in which case I would be taken to the same settings menu as before. The only difference would be that the clock would get added to the same screen from which I called the "add widget" option.
I don't know if this would be such a big hassle to make, or if it's impossible at all, since I haven't done any Android development yet. I'm only talking from a usual programmer and UI designer point of view
Let me know what you think.

[Guide] Android Phone 7 Theme

This is an old thread 21 june 2011 . I still use the emulator tiles myself (see second screenshot below) and a few of the others. I have been away from xda for ages and some of the links in this thread died so i have reuploaded them.
My Phone Screenshots [Old]
My Phone Screenshots [New] Some of the game tiles are old but i did create this thread in 2011
maxx228 Phone Screenshots
Ok so a few of my mates / random people who have seen my phones have asked how i got the windows style panels on my phone (see links above to see what im talking about) so i decided to write a quick guide (lol). Most people who call xda home will probably have seen / know how to do this so this guide is obviously not for you
Image Sizes (for making you own)
So to start you will either need to make your own images or download some pre-made ones. The image sizes want to be (if your using an arc/play or any phone with 480x854 screen size) the following;
(all sizes in pixels, the following image sizes will leave about a 10 pixel gap (i think) between your icons)
1x2: 110x282
1x3: 110x428
1x4: 110x574
2x1: 230x136
3x1: 350x136
4x1: 470x136
4x4: 470x574
Large (3x3): 350x428
Middle (2x2): 230x282
Small (1x1): 110x136
Getting Started
Ok so now down to business first off you need either of the following launchers. LauncherPro (the free version is fine), Go Launcher EX or ADW Launcher then you need Desktop VisualizeR once you have installed Desktop VisualizeR and the launcher of your choice you then need to do the following (and only the following).
Launcher Settings
Using Launcher Pro press menu button while on the homescreen then go;
Preferences > Home screen settings > Number of columns (set it to 4)
Preferences > Home screen settings > Number of rows (set it to 5)
Preferences > Home screen settings > Auto-fit items (make sure is ticked)
Using Go Launcher EX press menu button while on the homescreen then go;
Preferences > Screen Settings > Grid Size > Custom Grids > Then set number of rows to 5 and then number of columns to 4.
Using ADW Launcher press menu button while on the homescreen then go;
More > ADW Settings > Screen Preferences > Desktop Columns (Set it to 4)
More > ADW Settings > Screen Preferences > Desktop Rows (Set it to 5)
Adding your first tile
Then on a blank homescreen go to the widgets menu and place the correct size Desktop VisualizeR widget on your desktop (the images you download will be named, email2x1.png or in folders named 1x1, 2x1 e.t.c, so you would add the 1x1 or the 2x1 widget e.t.c).
Now just click the widget box you created on the desktop and then go, select icon > image file > astro (i use astro file manager to navigate to images) then find your correct sized image that matches the Desktop VisualizeR widget on your desktop.
Now click Select Action > Launch Application. And select the app you want your image to open. Once selected click the clear button under the label section (or else you will get crappy text over your image) then finally click ok. Then you should have your first image tile done . All that is left is to figure out the rest of the screens layout. If you scan through the links provided below you can get ideas e.t.c worth a quick scan.

Custom Dock using launcher pro
Put the dock somewhere on your sd card. Press setting button on home screen. Go Preferences > Appearance settings > Dock Background > custom. Then just navigate to the custom dock you want. You can either download one or use the one i use here --> Dock + Icons.zip
You also need to delete all the icons (apart from the app draw one) on the launcher pro dock and replace the app draw icon with the transparent icon i have included in the link above or replace them all with the transparent icon (see the Dock + Icons.zip link above).
You can also do this on GO launcher ex and ADW. Im not sure how since i use launcher pro, google it
Resizing your own images
If you want to resize your own images and dont have / know how to use photoshop i suggest Paint.net it will let you resize the images. Just open the image in paint.net and go (on toolbar) Image > Resize (or ctrl + r) untick the maintain aspect ratio box and put the sizes found at the top of this post. (Note: resizing images will cause the image to loose some quality but if you dont wanna make your own then it will do, cannot tell when its on phone anyways, also if you do it wrong go to Edit > Undo (or Ctrl + Z) do not resize the image more than once or you will get a blurry image)
Or
If you want to batch resize some images/icons you have found you can try this batch resizer FastStone Photo Resizer (thanks for the tip shotgunfool). Just open the images in FastStone Photo Resizer and add images you want to resize to the right panel. On the bottom right panel Tick the "Use Advance Features" box then click the "Advance Options" button. Click on the resize tab, tick the box. Then just untick "Preserve Aspect Ratio" box and put your new desired width x height in the boxs and click ok. Select your output folder then click convert!
Misc
Ive attached below the icons i use on my phone (from the old screenshot @ top link) + a few spares i made but never used aswell as a plain black wallpaper, since i think it works best with a plain black wallpaper but its up to you, enjoy .

When you press home and it asks complete action using there should be a check box that says "use by default for this action". Tap the box to put in a check mark then press your home launcher. You can't delete the Sony one. (well you can but that's advanced stuff)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116090
For the twitter icon see attachments below or go to the top post and see the link i added at the bottom for all the images i use on my phone
Never had launcher pro force close on me yet and i rarely get any force closes on the apps / games im using. Maybe on gameloft titles once or twice

It is a photo resizer, i managed to resize that folder of 300+ photos in under 30 seconds. into 1x2's i plan to make a copy of all then choose which ones in what size i want to make it layout nice on the homescreens.
Oh and i am not promoting or affiliated with that photo resizer, its just the first one that came up when i googled it and it worked so i thought i would just share it
Or if your too lazy to do that,
iv converted them into ever size now and uploaded them.

NOTE: I do not own or take credit for any of these icons, i simply resized them.
Enjoy

First off thanks for the photo resizer i will add it to first post later. Tried it out and it works . Secondly thanks for resizing the icons but unfortunately the sizes for the icons are wrong. I would also suggest just resizing the icons to the new sizes that match the icon in the first post. If you take a 1x1 and make it a 2x2 or 2x1 it will blur the image but its up to the person resizing i supposee. If i get 5 mins i will resize the icons in my first post.
*edit* I think you forgot to untick the preserve aspect ratio box in the photo resizer

Transparent Backgroud for Icons Label

Hey guys, I'm wondering whether there is a way to get rid of the icon labels background on the home screen and make it transparent. IMO it looks ugly. I tried looking for a thread that has a solution for this already but I could not find one, if such thread exist, please help direct me to it.
And anyone who might know the trick to achieve this, please share. Thanks!
If you mean riddance of the black background for the white text for the the icons...

There are 2 ways I can think of (and have tried).
===== If you are on stock TouchWiz: =====
Try the app "Desktop VisualizeR" (spelt exactly like that).
Market Link
Do note it's not the most "efficient" way of making transparent icon label backgrounds so it might be too inefficient for people that change homescreen icons on a regular basis. As in it takes awhile to setup all the icons but it works.
Steps:
1. Go to home screen > add widget > Desktop VisualizeR (1x1 SS).
then...
2. Click on the widget > select icon and action (in this instance you can just use an app "Icon" as the "icon" and the "Launch" action as "launch the app" > fill or leave "Label" > set "Label Color" as "Transparent".
Another thing you can do if you want all your future icons to follow a "template" of your choosing (e.g. I want all my future icons created using this widget / icon to have white text on transparent background), then go into your Applications > launch Desktop VisualizeR program > click "Menu" button on your phone > Settings > and now you can play around with the settings.
===== Use another launcher (such as Launcher Pro or ADW etc.) =====
I'm pretty sure there is a setting in the launcher settings that allows all created homescreen shortcuts to have a transparent label background.
I use the GO Launcher App. It solves the problem easily and shows the switch of the homescreens smoothly ;-)
My favourite launcher @ Maket
Thanks guys for your responses. I really wanted to achieve this while keeping the stock TW launcher but there just really isn't an actual mod or anything for this. Since I also wanted to be able to rename the labels, I ended up using GoLauncher EX instead. It's a very good alternative and yes, it is very smooth, especially with a kernel running at 1.7 Ghz.
If you use GoLauncher, you probably noticed that the icons on the dock are much smaller than the ones on your home screen. To make them similar, or in some, equal in size, I had to extract the icons I use on my dock from those .apk's and re-sized them from edge to edge to get rid of the margins because that is what's making them appear small on the dock. I saved the edited icons and put them on my sd card and just used the "Change Icon" option from GoLauncher to use the ones I edited. I also went ahead and made custom icons from folders so that they'll look better at least.
I have a screen shot of my home screen below for you guys to check out. Btw, I'm loving the G-Note! This device is just epic!

Sure. Just download the attachment below. Make sure when you select the icons for use, that you press "No Crop" so that they will display properly.
Thanks a lot, you save me much big time.

General questions

Hey guys! Bought my z3 today and have a few questions hopefully you guys can help me with . Iam sure it will help others to .......
1, How do i get my wallpaper to only take up one homescreen? When i swipe left to right for example... the wallpaper moves which i would rather it NOT do?
2, Is it possible to make icons smaller? Ive put some apps on the homescreen and they look massive! Ideally would like them to look smaller
3, Can i scale widget size? I could on my last device but not on this? I want to make the clock widget bigger but cant?
Just because you called them general questions does not mean they go in the general section.
They are still questions that you want answers for.
Thread moved to the questions and answer section for obvious reasons

1. NO, for this use third party launcher.
2. As i know, no. You can only change font size (Settings > Display > Font size) - Maybe it will help you. For DPI change you need to root it, and to change build.prop to make things smaller or bigger.
3. Yes, select widget and drop it on same place, you will get dots for resize. Of course, if widget support it.

Thanks,Pity about the wallpaper! Would much rather if you could crop the image and not have to have the wallpaper panned out over the various home screens
Found a fix for the wallpaper issue ! Not ideal but it works, If you download backgrounds hd from the play store and choose your wallpaper from within that app , it gives you the option to crop the image and set it as a fixed wallpaper Just make sure 'scrollable' is NOT ticked! As i said,Not ideal but it works! Really dont like scrolling wallpapers !!
