Hi,
I want to root the "vanilla" ICS that you see on the nexus with that launcher etc onto my s2, cause frankly, the touchwiz launcher sucks ass, and I want to get to use some of its tasty features.
How would I go about doing that?
I apologise if this is a repeat thread

Ok, Im sorry I cant find the answer to the question Im looking for and I assume its pretty basic..
What is incorporated in Sense and Touchwiz UI?
Im currently on Hero 2.2.1 with ADW Launcher EX, Im quite liking my set up currently but Im getting an upgrade soon and SGS seems to be most likely choice. (SGS vs DHD vs Desire).
I've read a few things like: Touchwiz does not link FB with contacts, have rubbish widgets and looks like a copy of the iphone.
What would change if I put ADW Launcher EX on it?
Can I not have Dialer One to overcome the facebook linking problem?
I suppose my question is really: Can you make the SGS software nearly as good as HTC with rooting?
Apologies, after taking forever with loading video (slow internet connection @ 1meg) I found my answer!
androidandme.com/2010/07/phones/touchwiz-3-0-walkthrough-with-the-samsung-captivate-galaxy-s/
So all these threads about SGS cant do Sense etc etc. Its a little superficial imo! Its still an Android. ADW launcher etc is still completely applicable, and thats a win.
If mods like to close the thread feel free.
Hi. I don't have very much experience rooting(1 N1) or jailbreaking (3 iphones) but my girlfriend just got the Skyrocket (coming from a Nexus S) and hates touchwiz. I don't think she'll really be into flashing custom ROMs and I want to make this as easy for her and myself as possible so what is the easiest way to disable touchwiz and go to good ole android?
There is no asop rom yet for the skyrocket
So until the AOSP is released, we're stuck with Touchwiz no matter which ROM we use? I'm in a similar boat as this guy. I came from the N1 with stock/CM7 and I am not thrilled with the style touchwiz does. For one I HATE the launcher (which Launcher Pro quickly remedied) but I hate the big colorful dialing buttons along with the iOS rip off messaging system. Seriously, Apple should sue Samsung for THAT as opposed to claiming their phones simply look similar (which frankly could be said about nearly every smartphone made since 2009.)
I recently switched over from the Galaxy Nexus to the Galaxy S3. As a whole I love this phone, however I was a big fan of the pure Android appearence of the Nexus, I'm not a huge fan of Touchwiz.
I have no experience with rooting a device, installing roms, and all that stuff, but would like to get my S3 to look like my old Nexus. I read through the thread below, and my question is, will that help me achieve what I want?

This may be a stupid question, so excuse my ignorance, and thanks in advance!
havent rooted in 6+ months but that looks to be what youd need.
there is a rom in the original development section that is called "pure google" that you can try! theres a few AOSP roms also.
good luck!
Following that guide will give you a rooted jelly bean stock TOUCHWIZ rom.
Most of the ROMs in android development use Touch wiz.
So here are your options.
1. ( what I would do if i were you.)
Find a launcher on Google play which has features you like. Most these launchers will give you the look of a pure Google experience.
2. Root the device and follow the method you posted.
Install one of the ROMs that looks appealing to you in the Original android development thread.
HOWEVER
If you follow the path of number two, do your research on these ROMs
some do not work perfectly but mainly you can lose your IMEI and put you in roaming.
But don't let me scare you. Many many many people hate touch wiz and CM10.1
Runs perfect for them.
Give it a shot

Hopefully Samsung are working on a new UI/Launcher as im not a massive fan of TouchWiz and the lack of settings in the launcher. Does anyone know if we'll ever get a new "official" launcher update from Samsung on out Note 3's?
For some reason, I am realizing now that I love the feel of this nova+touchwiz launcher now.
Hi,
I'm thinking to buy a S6 but I really don't like the touchwiz (I'm not the only one ).
I read that using the google now launcher and the Material Theme is possible to have a sort of google stock image on the s6. Is it true? does it really disable the touchwiz functions?
Is there any other way to have a google stock ( Nexus like)on the s6?
Thanks a lot to everybody
Using the Google Now launcher will only replace the home screen interface. You still have the Samsung Touchwiz framework running behind that, so...short answer is no. You can't truly get away from Touchwiz because there's no AOSP ROMs out there and CyanogenMod says they won't support Exynos processors so don't look for a solution from them. That being said, you can use the Google Now launcher, Nova, Apex, or any other good AOSP-based launcher with a Material theme and you probably won't hate your phone as much as if you had to look at full-blown Touchwiz all the time.

Thanks for the answer. If that's the situation, I'm considering to buy another device. Now I don't know what to consider since I don't like LG G4 and the S6 really seems to have the best hardware and the best camera.
Yeah I am in the same boat. I hate Touchwiz, honestly think I should have bought an M9, but the S6 camera is fantastic. I make do with a Dark Material theme and Nova Launcher to make it less touch-wizzy. Don't forget that you can disable a majority of the Samsung bloatware, and if you're not against rooting you can use Titanium to freeze/disable the rest. If you're set on getting a Nexus experience without buying a Nexus device, you can get all of the apps on the Play Store so it's just a matter of customizing your S6 enough that you forget it has Touchwiz.
