Is there a way to unlock the D2G to like t-mobile or att?
First you have to call Verizon and ask for the SIM unlock code. they will only give you it if you have been with them for 6 months and your account is in good standing order (no late payments etc).
Then root your phone.
Then use the Band unlock. More information can be found here
Hey jbroderick,
I want to confirm something, you also need to be in the US where you can get US verizon signal to properly sim unlock, this is true? if it is, there is any way to do this outside the US?
Thanks dude!
You do not have to be in the USA for the unlock code to be entered. You do not have to be on a cellular or WiFi network.
I think there is no way to unlock s2g if you don`t have verizon code, problem is you are outside usa.
Hey Luisfebear,
Other chilean told me that on sim-unlock.net he bought a working code to unlock in Chile the D2G. The only problem is that are 3 "different" phones por the D2G. I married with the "Motorola A956" since it's the Model that appears on the label next to the IMEI.
If you se some feedback of the D2G on sim-unlock.net, you'll see that people from other countries succesfully unlock the phone.
I'll post later for my experience.

So I've done a large amount of searching, not only on XDA but elsewhere to find a real 'answer' to my question, but I haven't found anything concrete, hence this thread.
I have aquired a Droid 2 Global from VZW for free, and I want to use it with my US ATT SIM, on the US ATT GSM Network.
Things i have done:
- Flashed the phone to the stock OS in order to....
- Flash the radio so it accepts ATT GSM signal
- Aquired the sim unlock code from ATT for my current phone/sim (I'm unclear on exactly what this whole sim unlock process is about, perhaps why I'm asking)
The phone boots, but when I have my SIM inserted, it asks for the unlock code.... What exactly IS it asking for?
The SIM unlock that I recieved from ATT doesn't work.. (I assume this is the unlock for my sim, in my current phone?)
What is the next step, if this is possible? I've looked at getting the phone unlock code via ebay, or one of the piggyback devices like TurboSIM, but I'm unsure what will work, if anything will work?
Help??
Thanks in advance for any info provided
It asks for the unlock code you can get from VZW's Global Support if you are a VZW customer.

Well, since I'm at ATT customer, how would I go about getting this code? I do have a friend that works for VZW, which is how i got the phone, and he is willing to assist me. Can he provide it?
The phone must be on an active line of service, and the billing history must be clean for the past 6 months.
If your friend works for Global Support, then maybe. If not, I doubt it.
Hmph..
I guess I overestimated the difficulty of getting this to work. It was just another case of having to get the unlock code from the phone itself via IMEI number, and yahtzee, working as I had hoped.
For some reason I had the notion that it was significantly more difficult after reading all of the posts about trying to get other SIMs to work.. but its actually very very straight forward and easy.. it just seemed that nobody had ever really made it clear that a US ATT sim could work on a VZW D2G handset with US ATT service.
Thanks for your input!
Hi, I have a Motorola Photon 4G with Sprint. I already unlocked it by unlock bootloader (not rooted yet). But I still couldn't use my phone for another provider (Simple Mobile).
Then I bought unlock code from internet, but I don't know how to input that unlock code into my phone, because every time I try it, the Sprint operator machine always say "you're not available to make a call bla.. bla..." in my phone.
Any body know how to make my phone can be used for Simple Mobile?
Thank you
Unlocking your bootloader does not mean it is SIM unlocked where you can use it for another GSM provider. Sprint and Verizon "world" phones will only work outside the US with a GSM provider, not within the states. Within the states it only picks up Sprint's frequency. You should buy a T-Mobile phone of your choice and just put your Simple Mobile SIM card in and you'll be good to go, no need to unlock. You just have to input your APN's.
Thank you for your explanation.
I was just pre-ordering my Galaxy S3 on VZW and decided to skim the contract. I noticed in one paragraph that they have in writing what code the S3 is defaulted to for SIM unlock and use on another carrier. Now, I am wondering if AT&T was just as kind and put it in our One X contracts? If anyone has theirs handy, or a digital version, check it out. The paragraph in VZW contract said it was defaulted to either "000000" or "123456". I tried generic codes on my One X to no avail, and obviously don't have my SGS3 to test if they were telling the truth! Let me know if you guys find anything!
First of all, you will likely have to call Verizon to get the network unlock code in order for roaming. Unlock code usually is tied to the IMEI number of your phone for GSM phones. Secondly, even if you unlocked your Verizon global phone, you will still not be able to use on AT&T or T-Mobile. You can only use it abroad.
Now, it is possible for newer global phones from Verizon be unlocked use a default code but you will still not be able to use them on other US GSM carriers.
On AT&T, not only you have to ask for the unlock code specfic to your phone, but also AT&T won't give it to you until the new phone is on the martket for 10-month, the so called 'exclusive' period.

First of all, you are absolutely WRONG because I have a Rezound that works perfectly fine on AT&T without any unlock code, secondly I asked if anyone had seen this on their contract, so you can take your irrelevant post and shove it up your a$$.

Well this thread went nowhere fast. Most people wont know your answer. You're either going to have to call AT&T or just wait to see if its unlocked already.
Hi guys.
I won a phone from Samsung in a event they were hosting in downtown toronto. It took them a while but I finally got the phone!!!
Unfortunately its locked to a network im not a customer with - Im on contract with another.
I've paid 3 seperate websites (Canada GSM, Cellunlocker.net, and Unlock Genius) but nobody can find the IMEI in their database! I paid the carrier its locked with - but even they couldnt find it!!!
Do i have a ghost phone? Is there anyway to unlock it other than the unlock code?
Thanks.
try http://www.fastgsm.com/en
Thanks Tomerbi for the advice, but I doubt they'll be able to find it considering 3 other websites couldnt (Paypal is having a field day, freezing the refunds as they come in).
What's the model number of the phone? For example mine is an international unlocked SM-G920F. Perhaps there is a region lock on it? The unlock sites can't do anything about that.
SM-G920W8 - Im using a sim from the appropriate region of the world, and briefly used a sim from the network it is locked to!
Looks like its a Canadian phone. And you're using it in Canada. Strange.
And when you put in the sim card for the network it is locked to that doesn't work either? Then what network were they expecting you to use it on when they gave it to you?
Its locked to Telus - Telus connections do work in the phone. Only type that do work. Just that nothing else does, and Telus doesnt have the IMEI in their database.
Hi guys I want to unlock my phone so I can use a different network SIM.
My network provider EE unlock team said they can't get it at the moment and they will contact the manufacturer.
I've asked Motorola and they don't have any codes to give.
Does anyone have an easy way to unlock Motorola Moto G 5g plus?
You can try flashing an unlocked version of the firmware, i think i took mine from motostockrom.
It voids warranty tho
I got one from Cricket Wireless, and I have the same issue. No one could unlock it.
I also faced the same problem EE Network Unlock. You can get the network to unlock supported from here https://unlockplan.com/
I got a good solution from there.
