Great T9 keyboard for people not able to use HTC IME keyboard - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

Check out perfect keyboard in the market, it's real nice. Awesome T9 keyboard and nice ICS theme as well. Enjoy

This looks like the stock GB/ICS keyboard but when in landscape it has the extra digits...how is it different?

If you like T9 it gives you that option, which stock doesn't. That's why I put great T9 keyboard... a lot of people have been bummed cuz the HTC IME keyboards will not work on ICS. So to fill that gap this is a great app

I tried this keyboard a while ago but it kept slowing to a crawl on my Inc. Probably because I'm running Abduction ICS. Back to stock for me. ICS stock is very very good. Just wish it had a compact setting.

Oh ya didn't think about the T9....does anyone use that anymore lol.

Yeah, me! Ha. And a couple people were still looking around for one. And I'm running abduction ICS by the way, v1.8

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Smart Keyboard Pro App... finally found my keyboard!

I know...its probably been around forever dummy...
But I hammer data into this thing like its a laptop....and NO keyboard has done the trick like my Iphone's which is the standard.... Til this baby!
Very happy.
Thank you Smart Keyboard Pro developers.
hi rockky,

@rocky
........never mind me
whats the difference between this and the stock keyboard?
There's 4 different ones but the Iphone one has spaces surrounding all letters making it way easier to deliniate letters visually and hit them physically.
I'm using Swiftkey alpha limited version.
It predicts your next word rather than correcting it. And you choose one of 3 boxes on top instead of pressing space. So after typing a couple of letters, the word you want is usually up there.
where did you find swiftkey?
/me demands a swiftkey apk.
the default nexus one keyboard does suck monkey rocks.... I've been looking for a keyboard, but I just tried the DESIRE ROM and the HTC keyboard ROCKS! The ROM is just not quite ready for prime time though...
dang swift key is pretty badass
Really wish someone had a swiftkey apk to throw to the great people at xda devs.

A quick google for "swiftkey apk" will get you a copy!
Just tried it out and its pretty good!
I also love Smart Keyboard Pro.. I keep switching between SKP, HTC and Swiftkey!
Smart Keyboard has greatly improved its word correction algorithm. It is still not on par with HTC_IME's but I would say it is almost comparable to the stock one. I prefer Smart Keyboard for the multitouch capabilities. I type faster and it just feels more natural. I know the HTC_IME is not multitouch, is Swiftkey? I signed up for the beta trial but as of yet have not received notice.
Swiftkey is hands down the best N1 keyboard.

Testing now. I will let you know.

swift key gave me better results than Smart pro.
They both suck ass simply because theyve failed to include a good voice to text icon.
I like smart keyboard a lot, I just wish it had voice to text. I'd assume it's just a simple API call, and you're done, no? Not like you need to code the entire service.
I can type incredibly fast with it, which I cannot do on the stock keyboard. That is enough for me to use it.
Have to say that Smart KB is really great. Works very well with Germany qwertz layout and types better than stock or htc.
I still think Swype is #1 keyboard.

Hmm, not sure you are right about this. This keyboard is for sure great,.but gingerbread keyboard has all important base base features, like multi touch key combos. It also looks attracting. And best, we will have full sources for it, which makes it much more easy to expand.
It might attract an active developer, time will show....

I really hope this is possbile on the nexus s. The HTC IME keyboard is absolutely indispensible to me. It in my experience has by far the best spell correction out of any keyboard I've tried. No other keyboard can I mess a word up so bad, add in a few extra letters than the word has, or not have enough, and it will still figure out what I'm trying to say.

Big thanks, gimpsta. I've been playing around with the keyboard generator since last night and it's an awesome service :]
I also have a wild, nubby question:
Probably the only thing I love about the stock Froyo keyboard is the upward-swipe gesture that extends the number and punctuation rows above the qwerty layout. The long-press method on HTC IME is alright, but not quite as fast (for me) as the upward-swipe.
Is that something that's even possible to incorporate into this mod? Or is it sort of an apples to oranges kind of thing?
Thanks for keeping everything up to date. If I know myself well enough, I'll be back to your generator in about two days to whip up another layout
You can set long press delay to 250 ms which is much faster to me than swype up on stock kb.
Love the keyboard!
Mainly using Swype now but HTC_IME mod still rocks

Thanks buddy! Thits what I get for not digging deep enough in the settings. I got too dazzled by the swipe features and missed out in that option-- it's totally what I wanted. What stock Froyo keyboard? :]
is it possible to get some features like multitouch etc from the Gingerbread keyboard? or maybe use the Gingerbread keyboard but modify it so the interface looks exactly like this one?
I really love the HTC_IME, but I can't make it work with HD2One with "lcd_density=200".
Could you help me ?
I think the keybord doesn't feat the resolution
I have this on my G2 and has there been an update to fix the bug that automatically capatalize the 2nd letter when using the physical keyboard?

The first part, no. As far as making the gingerbread keyboard look like this, it could probably be skinned to look like this and maybe some features added, but if you really want THIS (htc_ime mod) keyboard/feature set with multitouch I highly recommend smart keyboard pro. You can skin it to look just like htc_ime (or anything you want) and it has literally every feature htc_ime mod has and then some.

It's really not possible (or at least very easy) to modify the resolution of these keyboards without source. If there isn't one that works for your resolution then there isn't much anyone can do at this moment, sorry.

I was unaware of this bug, not sure how I'll test it without physical keyboard, but I know Jonasl has left behind some code for debugging physical keyboard problems. I'll look into it tonight.
I have a Nexus One with last Cyanogenmod but I'm unable to use this keyboard!
I've downloaded the High Resolution v27 for Android 2.2/Froyo but when:
To change keyboard, long press on lower left key on stock keyboard or any input field. Select input method in the menu
ANYTHING happen...
where is my fault?

Third party keyboard for GB

So far I really like the stock GB keyboard. It works really well and is pretty quick on our heros.
I have always used third party keyboards though and was seeing what others might be using so far. I have seen the Better Keyboard 8.0 beta and was gonna test that first.
What is everyone else using?
i use slideit is bad to the bone
if you don't like sliding to type go with SwiftKey
sent from my cyanoginger mod hero.
im still a fan of the HTC IME
Using the latest SwiftKey Beta. It's black and green keys.
I normally use the stock GB keyboard, but occasionally I use iWnn IME.
SlideIT here as well.
And for those of you who use SlideIT, i spoke with Devs and they are working to implement color customization. Woohoo!! They said to look for it in next update hopefully.
Swype all the way, had to have after by friend got the Evo a little while ago. Very nifty IMO
I bounce back and forth between swype and gingerbread.

Keyboard Preference

I started a poll on sms preference, but I wanted to start one on keyboard too. I personally use Swift Key x. I've tried the other ones (mainly swype style key boards) and I just realize at the end of the day, I can type faster with two thumbs than dragging one. What keyboard do you guys use and what theme?
EDIT:
I use AOSP when CM7 comes out. At the end that one is my favorite.
I tried a bunch of different keyboards before settling on Smart Keyboard Pro. I just wanted a simple keyboard (no swiping, fancy predictive text that tries to guess what I'm typing, etc.) that could be themed and remove the period. That damn period was bugging me and Smart Keyboard had the option to remove it. I also like the Honeycomb theme I'm using for it.
At the moment i use SwiftKey X and i'm happy with it so far.
I use the stock one and have never tried another one. Now that I wanna try something different, I will wait a little bit to see the result of this poll.
I like the way swift key auto corrects, it does it well. Something about smart keyboard pro annoyed me. I can't remember what. I think it was something about typing smilies
Swift Key X all day in the blue neon look. Excellent sizing to the keys, great look, and great features such as the fact that if you use spacebar to automatically fill out the predicted word and then want to put punctuation, it will automatically put that punctuation up against the last word even though the cursor was spaced out one space past the last word (that was probably confusing lol).
Thumb Keyboard
Thumb Keyboard rocks! I have tried several keyboards and by far this one is the best. Granted, no swipe, but then again I'm not a big fan of the swype (I have put in the effort and am still faster with a standard qwerty). After I loaded the free version of this keyboard and trying it, I was instantly sold. It is SO easy to get used to, and the portrait mode is a one hand wonder!

Absolutely thumb keyboard is the best if you have issues with hitting the "." Button when trying to hit the spacebar, on the stock keyboard and basically every other market keyboard the spacebar is way to small, I miss my genuine swype, but nothing else compares to thumb keyboard with the blue nuance theme....

That actually looks very interesting. I missed this one, gonna give it a shot now.
I used better keyboard since my original mytouch 3g and it worked great for me. But I have to say that since I downloaded the Swype beta keyboard from www.swype.com I have fallen in love with it. This keyboard is not just quick and easy to use but it is also 100% FREE! I honestly feel that if you give this keyboard a try for a week that you will not new disappointed.

Swype does that as well, Also, why is SWYPE Beta not a choice in the poll? That's what I use and it's RAD
Swype beta I was including as swype.

Gingerbread keyboard vs Go keyboard?

Going to update my O3D tomorrow with GB and was wondering what the stock keyboard was like? I recently started using Go keyboard which is free from the market and seems to work a lot better than the Froyo one. I did have to turn the "swype" function off because even though I was taking my finger off the screen it was typing some right crap. Sometimes it will miss a keypress and for some reason I had to type the word "from" about six times, but other than that it's ace. And you can skin it also.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA App
The gingerbread one is smaller then the go keyboard. I prefer the go keyboard, i get less errors with this and it has my native language dictionary plus the editing features like background and everything else. I also like the touchpal keyboard (has some nice features similar to go but no themes and wallpapers) it has "swype" like to but not in my native language and i got more type errors with this one then with go.
So in my opinion stick with go keyboard. I also recommend the go launcher, go weather, and go lock.

Tried others, nothing good just a good look only.
