[Q] On rooting an ICS Transformer - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to know if it's possible to root an ICS-upgraded brand new Transformer. I've read a few things about anything above B70 might not be rootable. Mine is C10KAS184908. Is it rootable still, and where would a guide for that be? I do apologize if the answer is obvious.

Look for Vipermod on these forums, and use Option 1

I rooted my C10 yesterday with vipermod, worked perfectly fine with option1.

[Q]B70 Honeycomb 3.2 can be rooted or not?

I am on the to get my asus transformer. The seller said its HC3.2 but i dont know what revision it is. What if my revision is B70? Is it possible to root? I've been reading and searching, but the only definite answer i got was, yay it worked but with old bootloader, or it didnt work, or it worked if the SBK remain untouched(i'm not sure what this means) or etc.
Is it still under testing or development? Or is there a sure way for this b70 revision?
Nuked from Samsung Galaxy S2 GT i9100 using XDA Premium app
Some B70s can be rooted, some not - depends on your serial.
fuhh, i got a B60!!!! just got back from colleting my TF. lucky its B60. now i'm gonna use the toolkit!! thanks for reply anyway.

Rooting eee Pad TF101G 8.6.6.15 (HC 3.2.1) [NOT A HOWTO]

THIS THREAD DOES NOT TELL YOU HOW TO ROOT YOUR DEVICE, but rather that a root does not exist for this build yet
Long time lurker, first time poster. So please be gentle.
After spending the better part of a few hours searching for a way to root my brand spanking new eee Pad Transformer TF101G, i've found that there IS no simple way to root it (just yet).
This thread is to prevent others from going on the same wild goose chase I did
Product details:
Name: Asus eee Pad Transformer TF101G
Android ver: HC 3.2.1
Build: HTK75.TW_epad-8.6.6.15-20110930 (shipped direct from Taiwan, so Taiwanese build)
There are a few threads in XDA (well, at least one) that refer people to the "Universal Root Toolkit v7.1" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104) thread specifically for 8.6.6.15, but this is wrong. This thread is only for 8.6.5.x, so dont bother.
The silver lining here, for those of your brave enough, is that the "Android Revolution HD" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245892) thread claims to work on 8.6.6.15, and it comes with su/root. But personally, id rather keep my stock ROM and just get root.
EDIT: Not sure if you require root to flash a ROM, if this is the case then I guess we are our of luck... can someone clarify please?
EDIT: There are many threads that mention B70 or B80 or similar. I assumed this was part of the build number and that mine was not one of these builds. In another thread I saw this is actually the first few characters of the serial number. So for those who, like me, found that a lot of the posters in other threads simply assumed this as common knowledge; then I hope this thread clears it up a little.
BTW, my device is a B90. Because of the above revelation, this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1241380) and this page (http://androidroot.mobi/2011/08/26/b70-and-beyond/) are now relevant to me.
So, the waiting begins...
You can make 100 thread like this and someone will still post asking about rooting their B70-1/2+ TF
I have the same model and firmware. The TF101G 3G enabled models may be a special case since they use a third book key (SBK3).
Waiting patiently.
Let me know If I can can be of any assistance in finding a solution.
I have a rooted HTC phone and miss the additional functionality on my tab .
Here here, same setup as you man...
Lets hope theres a solution pronto!!
Cheers for now
tf101g b60

Newer SBKv2 devices and your experiences with root

My question folows as well just a bit of rambling background!!
who has rooted new devices and who has bricked them because of it being a new sbk. has anone unrooted with the method i mention or another, and anything anyone wantz to throw in about rooting new devices..
I was one of those who were anxiously waiting a way to root newer devices...i mean looking every single day for a couple months.. and along comes razorclaw (The DEVS are freakin awesome) thats what i can say for sure.
Anyway i rooted right away and i will stay this way from my experience i will get more support from my devs than a manufacturer anyday, and when asus stops supporting our devices aftet the google 18 months the devs will be our only chance for continued enhancements and future support.
ive flashed a couple roms PRIME and KRAKD and man i cant wait for an ics rom wonder who will get it out first cm9 i my best bet. i ve got files from
Unlockr - how to unroot asus transformer
to unroot and im sure it will work now of course you would have to watch what you update to cuz the new update breaks razorclaw and the ability to root. BUT i hear lots of people afraid to root newer devices ive had no problems and i understand nvflash isnt there and that sucks if something goes wrong..... however, i havent seen alot of posts pertaining to people bricking their devices (a few yes) after razorclaw.` My main question is how many people are having a good experience rooting new devices and who has bricked, also has anyone succefully unrooted with the method at unlockr. or any other method. im just really interested in looking at the chances of bricking new sbk devices. should be good as long as your careful and check everything is god before you flash it and know its meant for your device. check md5sum always and i should be good right .
i just buy my asus transformer a week ago
i rooted and all went fine
Tried the 7.1 and razorclaw, neither worked!

[Q] having problem with rooting using razorclaw

hi guys,
My AT version is B70 and according to several topics I read, what I should use is razorclaw. However, when I installed and runned, the screen noticed me that: "this device lacks the needed file (bad luck).". I don't know what else to do so plz help me =((
Ics or hc Firmware?
Gesendet von meinem Transformer TF101 mit Tapatalk 2
Yep,
if it is ics .21 rom from asus then you cant root it with razorclaw.
see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25385687
to solve this.
well, I don't know how to check if mine is ISC.21 or not but when I go to "about tablet" in the settings, the build number of my AT 101 is 9.2.1.21. Is this what u mean? And after looking into the topic above, 9.2.1.21 is not listed .
Sry if I trouble u so much but seriously, I'm newbie at this kind of stuffs
9.2.1.21 is ICS.21. The method in last post can get you back to 9.2.1.17 which can be rooted with viperMod.
Dear Persim,
as you can read in the and razorclaw and vipermod forum, it still does not work for ICS 9.2.1.21
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427125
that's why I gave you the link to the forum that will help you to down grade to 9.2.1.19. That way you can use vipermod to root the device, then install ota root keeper and then upgrade to ics 9.2.1.21 again.
Just try to read the 1 st post in the Wolf's ultimate flash and downgrade guide, and see if it works for you. Because this guide is in the general forum you are able to post questions in that forum if you have problems.
If I was sitting next to you I would help but I think that the distance is a little bit to far so, see what that guide can do for you.....
goodluck.......
RazorClaw only work on 8.6.5.19 firmware. That's a long tone ago.
You don't even need to roll back, just use Wolf's method 3

[Q] About tablet - model

Hello everyone.
I wanted to root my tablet and have a few questions.
i was reading: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193 and wanted to know if when hes talking about numbers right next to the model, is that the Kernel version?
I have a B70K serial number tablet and wanted to be very sure about everything im doing before attempting to root my device.
So, what do I have to keep in mind when rooting my device?
Thanks in advance for the help guys.
Much simpler option and doesn't care if you are SBK1 or SBK2

Detection's advice above is great. In my first tf101 I used Frederuco's method which uses Easyflasher and it worked a charm. I got my other half a TF101 for Christmas and for whatever reason Easyflasher didn't work so I googled and tried PERI and it worked.
Please note that if you intend using TimDuru's ROMs 4.3 or 4.4 etc to use the TWRP recovery, and to flash the newest version of it once you are rooted. Frederuco's guidelines talk you through how to do that.
I was very hesitant before I rooted the TF101 - being a noob, but it wasn't as daunting than I imagined and the rewards of the much quicker ROM are well worth the 15 minutes that the rooting and flashing ROM take.
