[Q] How to put I tunes movies on a Samsung nexus - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I was just wondering if any of you had any suggestions on what to use to put Itunes movies on a Samsung nexus.
Please help me.

Simple answer is that you can't. iTune movies have drm so they only play on iDevices or in iTunes.

If you own the DVD/Blueray and ripped it yourself. Than yes you can encode it to what ever format you need and transfer to your phone.
What you wanting to do is illegal. No online purchased movies will allow you to transfer to devices.
You can watch online movies thru other services but only for streaming.
And don't talk about breaking or removing DRM's here!
Have fun.

Well, if you bought a movie you should be able to watch it where you want, when you want and on the device you want, ain't I correct? I'm pretty sure you can google "how to remove drm from imovies?", I'm not sure if this is against xda rules, but if you are not doing it to piracy movies or things like that, I don't see any problems doing that.

Without opening iTunes program, see what folder ur iTunes movies are in. Then right click to see what format they are in.
Then Google a search for either a free converter or possibly an android media player that will play those type of files.
Most media players play MPEG4 so when u convert it, I'd go that route. Then just see what resolution ur phone uses. Converters are normally free for an X amount of time so if ur planning on doing it a lot, I'd would just pay the $20 and do it hassle free.
FabDVD worked good for me when I was a cell phone movie goer.
Good luck.
Vs Nexus S 4G

or buy elsewhere. Pretty sure Amazon Store does DRM free movies ?

In a perfect world ? Sure. I personally would love that too. But it is as it's now, it is illegal.

is the most convenient way due to that are easy way to convert it to a format that your phone will work with. Not so easy to break a DRM on a itune or other online sites's files even when you do find them on your hard drive.
And let me repeat. I agree that you should be able to do with what you bought and own! Now it is not what we want? but what movie/music industry wants is true for now sadly.
Regards.
noob

Well I have apple tv so I rip my dvds to my computer so I can stream them to my tv, without having to deal with the disc. When I rip the movies to my computer I make the file in the apple tv format which is mpeg-4.
To watch them on the go with my phone, I just transfer them over via usb. Then I use the app called Dice Player to watch them. Dice player plays pretty much every video file.

Try "yxflash" from the market. It claims to be able to play WMV, DivX & Xvid... Haven't tried it myself though.
It's a $19.99 app that has to be purchased outside the market though... I don't like the way they're trying to conduct business.
Try meridian from the market. Haven't tested xvid yet but seems to play things otherwise built in on my mytouch couldn't haven't gotten that far.

Yea. They're kinda shady since they call it free then charge you to use it.
I'm guessing, if it does actually work, he doesn't want some rooted dirtbag downloading and refunding to add to the plethora of pirated apps. I haven't seen the app yet, but I figure if allows google checkout, it should be as safe as any other purchase via google checkout.
isn't there a samsung android phone with divx support builtin? I'm pretty sure I read that some where. Wonder if someone is working on some sort of port...
there are two android phones which play divx/xvid out of the box. one from samsung and the other from lg. getting the drivers/media player ported from either of these phones would be a big plus from me. i know i could convert media before hand, however i use my memory card as a "memory stick" which i bring in to work to watch on the PC during lunch. being able to play the same files on the phone when i'm on the bus/train would be so much easier.
try doubletwist if you're on Windows/Mac... no linux version yet
it will convert them to play on android by just dragging them over to the device...
I can confirm that yxflash works on my G1. I just download a divx movie (about 700 mb) and play it. Unfortunately the frame rate is about 15 f/s. Hope on Nexus One it will be much better.

btw, they still have xmas, you can get 50% off while using coupon code "xmas".
Still too expensive for my opinion, but hey, they come from the apple universum where all have too much money.
Now this post isnt going to be of much use because i couldnt find all the links i was after..... however
There were people requesting the samsung xvid/divx player be ported out back on the G1. Seems that one of XDA's members lbcoder has some decent incite on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566591&highlight=divx
He posted
divx is just an implementation of iso mpeg4.
So...
to make it play you need to;
1) ensure that bitrate and resolution are low enough to be properly handled,
2) package it in a compatible container (mp4 works)
3) ensure that the AUDIO is encoded in a compatible manner (vorbis is great, but others also work, mp3, aac, etc.)
4) ensure that there is no crap in the file showing that it is divx because it simply doesn't know what divx *IS* -- make it read as mpeg4 -- this does NOT require reencoding the file, just using a SANE header.

I thought $10 wasn't bad. It plays awesome on the N1. It takes me 10 minuted to download a Divx movie, but 30 mins to convert. Over the course of several months, I would save a ton of time converting movies. I can download directly to the SD card via browser and play with yxflash.
Yes, having to purchase outside the market is shady, but I have contacted them several times with issues and they resolved them within one day.
Found the app via market at first glance i thought nah **** it because of the bad rating.. at second glance i actually took the time to read the comments, turns out most of the comments where bad/laggy playback, witch was partly due to Magic / Heros hardware, and the resizing requirements..
ive installed the trial, and it plays beautifully.. although sometimes i do get some lines across the screen, but they are hard to notice...
Price is still a bit high thou! :/ im gonna give it a month or two to see if a cheaper alternative shows up, and hopefully by that time Google will have opened up the market in Denmark.
used yxflash to play an hd copy of ice age 3 in xvid, ran nearly perfect, every so often there is some frame skip

[REQ]Zune media player, possible or not

Now I am no dev but I was wondering if it would be possible to create a media player that can sync with the desktop zune software and have a similar UI that plays all my protected content. I love my zune hd but part of the reason I bought this phone is so I only need to carry one device for all my multimedia needs. If this is possible ad there are any devs willing to work I would gladly make a donation of $50-$100 for a working app
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I would wager 10x that amount that it will never happen..
I have a ZuneHD and f*ckin love it. However, Microsoft won't do it because thats one of the big draws for WP7, and we can't do it because there is no code to base it on. It's all Microsoft's protected content.
However, there is one option. I don't think its against any XDA rules to post this, and if it is I'll remove it, but I won't put links anyway. Just look up Daniusoft Digital Media Converter. I know it's expensive, ~$50 I think, but I bought it, and it's totally worth it. I have gotten way more use than that out of it. It'll let you convert your Zune Pass music to MP3 and then you can sync it to your Android with Doubletwist & the like. I know it's more work, but it does work.

But at that point, why not just download torrents with higher quality music? I mean, you could make the argument I guess that you have a right to that music even though you are explicitly only renting it .? ?.? . Save the 50 dollars and just join a good private torrent site like what or waffles.
Also, to the OP, if you only want to carry the Epic 4g for all of your multimedia needs, why do you need it to sync with the Zune software? I assume its because of the zune pass?

I don't know. I find this easier than torrent sites TBH. I'm a lazy ass, and I paid for convenience lol. This way it keeps all the metadata, and I don't have to sort it manually, and I do feel better in that I did actually pay for the music in one way or another.
I don't subscribe to zunepass or anything, I just have a lot of songs and movies I've paid for and would like them on my phone, and TBH I really like the zune media player interface
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
For a zune interface, they do have a zune home replacement launcher but it's pretty awful. Really if you want the zune media interface get a windows phone 7... what you're asking for is foolish to be frank.
If you paid for movies and music, it should be drm free, then just transfer it to your sd card. Its what I do.

Not sure how you could call it foolish? It is widely accepted that the zune hd has a great interface. It is also very simple and would be fairly easy for an android developer to make a clone of it. The fact that no one has is pretty surprising. Hooking in drm and zunepass is obviously not gonna fly with ms but that is not what the op wants, and that is not needed. If someone made a fluid zune clone for the marketplace and sold it for a few bucks a I bet they could make a killing.

I tried putting the songs I bought on my phone and they transfered overbut they wouldn't play on the stock player or mixzing, all I want is to be able to play the music I bought on any of my media players, plus a zune like interface would be sexy

What do you mean they didnt play? I have the zune pass and with my ten songs a month. Those tracks are currently on my phone and they place with no problem. Videos as well. I did how ever have to use rockplayer for the videos. But the stock player worked fine for the mp3's.
Edit: I also did have to edit the tags to get them to show up... Can just edit the tags, right click the file -> props then add in whats needed. Forgot that part. =p

After reading what he said up there ^^ WMA is not bought and paid for... Everything I have paid for was converted to mp3. If it stayed WMA and with DRM, then it would be pointless to buy it. =p

[Q] Thinking about buying a Xoom - can it do this?

1) napster to go - subscription DRM music
2) stream netflix
3) pandora
4) render heavy splash sites well - my daughts is 7 and loves her disney.com, nickelodeon.com, etc
5) have an app (pay or free) that can play almost any video file
1. Yes theres a napster subscription app you can download.
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes, games play fine, a little laggy sometimes, and since you dont have a keyboard while they are running you'll have to work something out.
5. Yes, Moboplayer and QQ Player seem to play everything out there.

Sorry to say but video support is limited.
Eg you download blue ray rip (even in 720p) then it does not play all the time.
In short Xoom plays H264 movies smoothly if encoded with baseline profile.
You can play 1cd dvdrips with Mobo or bs player.
You may be required to convert video.

Yes, I think so...mostly.
1) I use Rhapsody to Go
2) Netflix--I don't use it
3) Pandora's fine
4)Yes, Disney site works fine, depending on your internet connection, of course
5)Mobo, Dice or Rockplayer lite seem to play just about anything
Xoom is great for most media as you can also load up a lot of fies on your sdcard (or usb drive if you root), so you'll never run out of space.
It seems like your major interest is in listening to and watching media files, andyou may also want to consider that the Xoom does so much more than play media and games---I believe the Xoom is the best overall tablet available. The Xoom is a serious working tablet computer that likes to have fun, too, so hopefully you have plans for it as well. It's also absolutely perfect when unlocked, rooted and customized...
Not sure how I will use the tablet, to be honest. Trying to find justification for it. But I know that my 7 year old will love using it and I love music and video. So those are must haves.

If you mostly want something for simple, accessable media, you should probably be looking at an Ipad, though no flash, no sd card etc. The Xoom is very sturdy, but a smart and inquisitive child can do some pretty funky things to it, especially if you have root (which will give you most of the goodies, IMHO).
cartoon films look very good on xoom like planet51

movies form itunes?

So I just got the transformer infinity a few days ago and love it except I cant watch movies that I have bought using itunes. Does anyone know of a way to watch them? This is a big setback for me because I like to watch movies when I travel and dont want to carry my laptop anymore.
I have never bought anything of iTunes. Can you share what format the movies are in? You probably just need to download a video player that reads that format.

I have had no problems WATCHING movie files from ITUNES or playing any of my itunes music - i even loaded itunes FOLDER into TF700 (sd card) These music and movies I already own
Depends on how you want to do this. movies cannt be downloaded. ALL moives comes in .mp4 format with DRM locked - thus making it easy to play on OSX systems. There are a number of Commercial tools avalible to 'convert' and refomat these movies to NON-OSX tablets Pc etc
I dont know how much of what tech knowledge you have - but its easy.
Cheers
Wow. Another reason to hate Apple. Didn't realize that they made it so difficult to move to another device. It is 2012. Oh well I tend to stream almost all of my media I watch. Going to try the Google play store and see how that goes. I am interested to see how long it takes for me to pin a movie to my device
Well ill try and change the format. But most of my movies are digital downloads that you get with DVDs. Wish they made an app for that
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
Those are locked to iTunes via DRM. Why would they want you to leave their ecosystem or share the movies with others?
Because I bought them from walmart and used iTunes to view them. So is there away to put my digital downloads on my tablet then ?

sorry to revieve an old thread, but i used search and didnt need to start my own.
i am having the same issues. i have the digital downloads that come with my blu-rays, but only for ibarftunes. has anyone got a easy FREE drm stripper or converter or program they can recommend to do it? i am close to using torrent, but only for movies i own, its only seems fair to me.
Try dice player or mxplayer.
What format are these digital downloads in?
And this is exactly why piracy is so popular. It's ridiculous that you pay for something and then can't even use it because of the bloody 19th century DRM.
iTunes films are in the .M4V format with, usually, a H.264 codec. Third party apps can play this, but iTunes loves its DRM too bloody much. Which means you can't play it after all.
There are plenty of DRM removal tools. None of them are free. If they are, you get a watermark or a maximum resolution of 320x240, if you're lucky. Personally I don't deal with DRM at all because they can go to hell with it for all I care (Ah, Dutch laws...) but to remove the DRM I'd suggest Aimersoft DRM Media Converter. And no, this isn't free either.
You do realize that removing the DRM from a video is just as illegal as using a torrent to download it in the US, and still considered piracy...

how to watch movies on this tablet?

I have verizon as an isp. Well, I bought a movie and I can't watch it on my tablet. Verizon wants to install silverlight, but it's not compatible with this tablet. Does anyone have any input on this? THanks
What is the movie saved as? .m4v .mkv?
If you have the actual file on your device then it should open with something like BSPlayer. Bsplayer plays every file type that I know of. Free from the Google play store. If you are trying to stream from online and it is asking for a desktop windows plugin that is not available on android then I am afraid I do not know how you can play it.
Where did you buy the movie from?
You can watch movies from a number of places. The easiest is to purchase the movie from the Play Store then it will show up on your "Play Movies and . . " app. Then you can stream it over wifi or download it and watch it offline later.
Give us a bit more info and I'm sure we can figure it out.
Dice Player ftw. It has gone free, has hardware-decoding ability, nice interface and is good to battery, has gesture control.
(I like vPlayer for its gallery features, but the last time I actually used it, it didn't play as many files as Dice does -- I just browse to them with Total Commander and set Dice as the default app to open the respective file extension with -- tadaah!)
EDIT: I have lots of local files to play, so I didn't get into the streaming part others already pointed out -- I don't have enough experience with it.
