Jumping ship! to Galaxy Nexus - HTC Sensation

i loved my htc sensation but i found the nexus too hard too resist at $465 and better dev support
i will be selling my singapore htc sensation (works with $5/mo tzones), any idea whats a good going price for it in good condition?
if anyone is interested in the nexus, its still available for $465 at mobile.dailysteals.com

If in mint condition, flawless screen, 300 dollars.

Such a shame as the phone is awesome

Nice move but i think the sensation will live dev wise a little longer.

i hate sense.... so the only roms that were of interest to me were trips/vorbeths cm9 and virtuous inquisition... and all 3 are still buggy as of today

Saw that sale too, so tempted.
I played with my friend's Verizon GNex and it didn't blow me away though.
Quite similar to my phone running Virtuous Inq.
The difference wasn't great enough to warrant me spending so much money, even if I did sell my Sensation.

Getting a galaxy nexus this far into 2012? The thing is 6 months old already! Cortex-A15 beasts (Galaxy S III) are right around the corner, why waste money now?

Don't get me wrong guys, the screen alone makes the Nexus better than the Sensation - hands down!!
It's just that stock Android, where it was at first nice and new, pales in comparison to Sense 4...might sell mine and get the One X

It isn't even known if the Galaxy S III‘s Exynos will be A15. You could assume so but the doesn't make it definite. Look at the Tegra 3 for example.

Lol v4 isnt buggy at all. Its basically perfect

I jumped on this deal too. I love my Sensation but need to get back to stock Android, and I agree, the current AOSP/AOKP ROMs for Sensation are buggy or missing core functionality. Development seems to be moving along at a snail's pace. Not a complaint, just an observation.
I'll still keep my Sensation just in case, but eagerly awaiting the GN.

Care to elaborate? I find this hard to believe considering it's a brand new Nexus device, and even the N1/S are still getting support (N1 got an update just September of last year, and the S was recently updated).
Are you saying it has stopped for now or it has stopped entirely?

Sensation has enough power to run cm9 super smooth.
Not that impressed by Nexus Galaxy, then wait for a Quad Core phone.
One X quadcore gets 4750 in Quadrant (might not be optimized for 4cores yet?)
know its not about all about numbers, but cm9 feels good
cm9 opensensation (bluetooth working, only camera not recording yet and some other bugs)

Officially the GSM Nexus is on 4.0.2. There have been more updates since then - 4.0.3 (which all new ICS devices will be running) and 4.0.4 for the CDMA Nexus. Google aren't looking like doing anything else at present and I hope we'll get a new update come I/O but in a Dev sense all the ROMs are the same.
OK, MIUI is now out but bar that there's not a lot to differentiate between ROMs

Though most roms seem the same (the sense ones) Have tried alot of AOSP ones there awesome waiting for miui to be stable(r) lol

The first chance I get I will get the Gnex. I will not look back. I have a couple of manufacturers that I will NOT buy their phones again. I can care less if they put a big battery or have some cool feature... the one thing I care about is UPDATE. What good is a $500 phone if it never gets an update or better yet they let the phone out with hardware issues that can not be resolved with software update. I have watched android evolved only to see what manufacturers of phone and carriers do to it. As much as I hate apple, they did it right and for Google to just sit idle while they butcher they product I just don't get. Anyway enough ranting... gnex is my next phone, hopefully before summer.

thats what i dont get about biased phone owners... how can you say v4 is perfect when the gallery from camera button doesnt work and there are documented multitouch and mute issues that were fixed in 4.1? im not saying the galaxy nexus is perfect either... im sure it has its share of issues
but as an AOSP lover, a nexus device is a definite upgrade on the software side

i dont care about the number of updates... i only care for how stable the rom base is and if the nexus has truly "peaked" as you say, then i will happy with that over a device that has 1000x more updates but still has issues

If you do go through with jumping ship be ready to pick up an extended battery and cover.
The GNEX is pretty abysmal with battery life.

[Q] I jumped ship to htc to try the htc sensation and regretting it.

hello everyone. coming over from the galaxy s forums.
i recently jumped ships and bought an htc sensation 4g (tmous) and i rooted it yadda yadda yadda flashed insert coin, leedroid, and revolutionhd nonsense.
now coming from a galaxy s vibrant running bali 1.8.8 kernal, bionix v 1.3.1 and lcd density set at 192 which all worked so good for me.
i need you guys to tell me this is a good phone and i should keep it bc i want to give it a shot however all the roms i flash for the sensation are slow for me.
im looking for a clean no sense build and revolutionhd no sense is that rom. when i run a quadrant the phone gets about a 850 900 on revolution hd. i kno quad scores dont mean much but the phone feels sluggish and slow.
can someone direct me on what im doing wrong and why this phone appears to run so slow? i mean really slow. is this how htc phones perform? my last htc phone was a mt3gslide running cm6 at the time
Try revolution HD 3.0.1, 3.0.2 was kinda slow on my phone but 3.0.1 is mega fast. If its not fast enough, then this might not be the phone for you, but for me and most others its fast enough. Also, quadrant doesn't even utilize the second core.

true story. i went to take it back and tmobile wanted me to pay a 50 dollar restocking fee which is ridiculous. its listed locally for 400
il straight trade for a nexus s
Before trading it in, please try the 2.3.0 version of Leedroid.
High benchmark scores (check thread), superb battery life (1,5-2 days with light-normale use) and very smooth.
The Sensation should be the best phone there is atm considering the hardware. Unfortunately HTC didn't optimize the ROM + drivers for it.
Also damn you HTC for being so ssssslow in releasing the 2.3.4 kernel. Lot's of people could do magic with it
i have a few pms about trading for a nexus s. im sorry guys. my heart belongs to samsung. i gave htc a second try and realized it wont work between us.
yes she looks good wrapped in that metal but samsung phones are just down right a dirty girl

If you're willing, wait till ROMs come out that have proper dual core support. Not this madness where you force once core to be on all the time, but a ROM that intelligently manages both cores to maximize performance/battery life. Also ICS should bring better dual core support. If you can't wait, then jumping ship seems like the answer.
I would wait to jump ship. It's a new phone, New set of hardware. The dual-core is still being delta with. For the most part, I think this thing fly's. Small bugs, but time will heal all. If you trade now, two months from now your gonna kick your own asset around for trading. Just saying. Good luck to you

Okay eww on Samsung, I had (still have but dont use) a Captivate, they don't have working GPS, TW is so laggy, samsung makes great tv's, ****ty phones. Good luck. I love my Sensation, maybe I got lucky, I have none of the issues I read about on the forums. I am still on stock because, as of now, it's perfect out of the box. I tried a few ROMe but without kernel source for 2.3.4 they are full of bugs. Maybe it's perfect for my daily use, idk, so far, it's been a great two weeks.

hear hear! it its a really good fone, but SOOOOO different from the sgs/sgsII when comparing hardware/software...
the processor is far too advanced for the software to actuaal make proper use of it, aSync is a little tricky, but the devs here are doing some AMAZING work to get both running at the same time (bear in mind this processor is NOTHING like hyperthreading for dekstops, its practically like 2 physical processors on a single chip)
it will get much better before it gets any worse, and my saving grace is that this fone launched almost 6 months before the iphone 5, and the specs are STILL better take that jobs/cook!
I came from an SGS with custom roms which was pretty smooth but I have to say the Sensation with P3D Neon rom is a lot smoother and the Sense animations are very fluid. I also find the browser to be a lot better than that on the SGS especially with the extra qHD resolution.

Some help please lol

Take a look in sensation android development and see roms support urself
There are lot of roms available for sensation and sensation having dual core processor as compared to nexus single core ,cam of sensation is also nice....8mpx ....
Sensation is definitely more powerful than nexus s.
Stock battery is 1520 mah and backup is gud not xcellent lol.
Sensation also support mhl hdmi support ,go for sensation its better than nexus s.

Well that would first depend on two main topics; whether you want HTC Sense or Vanilla Android.
The Nexus S's stock ROM is smooth, elegant, quick and stable because well it's pure Android.
The Sensation is a power house of hardware, HTC Sense has a lot of customization yet the stock ROM is sorta laggy here and there. However, if you root it, there are AMAZING Sense ROMs out there for you to flash it.
I went with the Sensation because it has a better processor, camera, more RAM, and it just looked awesome to me!
hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
Personally, I would wait a month or 3, as new phoens will be released. The Sensation is now a relatively old device, and HTC will be releasing some new ones in the coming few months
The Sensation is fantastic, I love mine, but it's "standard" with specs....nothing is outstanding.
Thanks guys your really helping me, when I make a list of pros and cons for both phones this is what I get
Sensation pros
4g
Dual core
8mp
Under t-mobile so I can always report my phone lost
Cons
I hear that battery isn't great
And I hear a lot of bad about the Prosser
And the stock roms which I would really like some feedback on it because I love both sense and stock so if I could flash either and they would work fine I would be so much in love with this phone lol
Nexus s pros
Updates lol
Super almoled screen
Cons
5mp
3g
Not under t- mobile
Single core
And this doesn't matter so much about waiting for a new phone I'm due for an upgrade in July and I'm not trying to waste an upgrade on a phone that isn't going to get love lol im going to use the upgrade when I see the phone having great development

Id go this route unless you insist on having a rooted phone with minimal wait time for development. The downside of being first to get a new phone is WAITING for anything to be done with it.
If it were me, Id stick with a rooted g2x and wait for something better to pop up. ICS is out and about and I am sure that any new phone that has good hardware will wind up being great with the addition of ICS.

Then he'll be waiting forever because there will always be new phones. Seriously though, While the Nexus S is smooth, ICS will make this phone one of the best available. The latest leaks are already butter 90% of the time, and they're just leaks.

After the Sensation what?

So, the Sensation has been out for a while and for me it has not lived up to my expectations. ICS is right around the corner for me but I'm sure it will make things somewhat more bearable until I do upgrade.
What is everyone planning on replacing their Sensation with?
Yesterday, I got to mess around with the Galaxy Note. All I have to say about that phone is that it is obscenely big. I love it. It's the only phone out now that is something truly different. Too bad it's AT&T.
The only other thing that is currently for sale is the Galaxy Nexus. Other than the fact that it's running ICS there isn't much to get excited about. I think I'm going to just keep my Sensation till the New Nexus phone is released and get on that one early.
I'm not a fan of Samsung's phones or touchwiz but I feel like HTC is just making phones while Samsung is experimenting with new forms and new ideas. If Cyanogemod 9 was out and if it were available on Tmo I'd be all over the Note.
What are you hoping to replace your Sensation with?
after so much Android, I'd like to try an iPhone or a WP7 device. then again I have my XE since one week only so I'm still in love
Replacing it now with Galaxy Nexus, ordered international version on dailysteals. I do not need the latest and greatest but want to have no skins and reliable software. I had custom ROMs since G1 but want to see how reliable is original Google software on hardware they test it with.
Sensation will go to DW who will replace her Vibrant.
Galaxy Note.
Or it's future WP7 equivalent because I can.
I'd go for the next iPhone only if it will have a 4" display. I really want to get myself an iPhone and see for myself what's all the fuss about.
But if Jellybean will be as innovative as ICS was when it launched I will definitely stay with Android and go for the next Nexus.

Wherever the developers go, and some of the best stick with HTC phones. Prolly gonna end up with the ATT One X if TMo doesn't get it.
I just got my sensation. To be honest, in my opinion, companies comes out with every new versions of everything. But all in all, they're all the same. I was gonna wait for the HTC One S, but I figured, .3 difference on speed, just a little better on screen res. and beats? Not much of a difference, the sensation alone is fast and snappy, there is no reason for me to get anything high end because the sensation itself is a good device that pretty much do all the work. That's just me though AND, the sensation has a lot of love from the DEVs.

My personal experience is contrary.
My colleagues at work have iphones 4s. They often take photos for documentation. Their pics are generally ok for a phone camera but nothing special.
From what I see on a nearly daily base in real world, iphone photos are in no way superior to the pics I took with my X10i or take with my Sensation, which I think look remarkably clear.
Iphones produce exactly the same amount of crap as other phone cameras do.
Be warned ;-)

[Q][OPINION] One S for Galaxy Nexus

I thought I would get some feedback from fellow One S users: I just saw how frickin' awesome Jelly Bean is going to be, and have come across an opportunity to trade my One S for a GNex (which has already begun receiving the JB update). Given how long it takes for HTC to roll out ANYTHING, should I make that jump? I know there are a few trade offs, namely an inferior camera on the GNex. But JB looks so sweet, and I am a HUGE fan of vanilla Android. What do others think?

I know the One S has better specs, but who knows how long we will be waiting for JB. I guess my main gripe with the One S is how we're stuck with Sense. I tolerate it, but I vastly prefer vanilla Android and AOSP. I know some AOSP builds have made progress but still have problems with no real solutions in sight yet, like camera and connectivity issues.

weeks from now we'll get it ported and our device will be SWEET!
Hopefully within 6 months HTC will give us an OTA update also.
Nexus has the better screen+NFC+JB but our One S is superior in design, power, camera, & sound.

Things are working to a degree but CM9 is still far from my daily driver standards. I check that thread all the time and keep seeing issues pop up, particularly with picture/video recorder quality, which is a deal breaker for me.
And I would be getting money on top for the GNex, if this guy ever gets back to me. I wouldn't even really need much back to even out what I spent since I talked the T-Mo reps down to $100 for my One S when I got it.

HTC is not TOO bad when it comes to releasing software updates. It certainly is not the worst, *cough* Samsung. Once Google officially releases the source of Jellybean, HTC will begin updating Sense to 4.1. It's safe to say that we would not receive and update until at least 1-2 months after the release; possibly more, depending on HTC's developers. One thing I am skeptical about is waiting to T-Mobile to release their version of HTC Sense with T-Mobile apps and bloatware. If anyone is on stock T-Mobile waiting for an update, this is one thing to consider. I am sure this will not take long as all T-Mobile has to do is add its apps and bloat ****, then release it.
Regarding the difference between the GN and HOS handsets, our device is much better; at least, in my opinion. We have a MUCH better build quality (metal, sleek). We also have better specs, albeit, no sdcard slot. Just because a device gets and update first does not mean it is the best. The GN has it first because it is still the flagship stock Android device as it is a Nexus device. If our HOS was on stock ICS with no Sense, we would get the update at the same time as well, most likely. In sum, we just have to wait a bit longer
EDIT: benchmark scores do not mean ****.

Since t-mo HOS is identical to its international counterpart, we will be able to install the official update almost as soon as it comes out. (and the devs get their hands on it :fingers-crossed

Haha yes, since fwdkiller pulled a **** move and wasted my time I found a seller who wanted to trade a mint One S + a Benjamin for my Note. Screen feels tiny but I like how smooth it runs with the krait chip.

Dude, you made out like a thief at an art gallery. You probably could get 420 for the phone [from my offers] and getting a hundred. You got more than most people would get for a note. Congratulations.

I hope that you haven't made this premature nd stupid move till now, and if you did than you sure be regretting it.
We already have a almost everthything working JB CM10 (there's ur vanilla jellybean experience) and also HTC has officially announced that One S will get JB update soon and have already started working on it.
We would definately get official JB within 2 months max and that as good as it gets.

The choice was taken out of my hands:
Boss: "Hey what's this Android phone I hearing you guys debate about all the time?" (My boss is a bit of a technologically challeneged guy; he still uses Blackberry and had me set it up for him when he got it)
Me: (insert my explanation of Android, Jelly Bean, and the iOS v. Android argument here)
Boss: "Wow that sounds pretty awesome. What phone comes with that new Jelly Bean thing?"
Me: "It's going to start rolling out to the newer Android phones over the next few months, but the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has it now."
Boss: "Great! Order me one and set it up, would you? And grab one for yourself while you're at it."
(Tosses me his credit card)

upgrade from sensation

Hey guys,
I am fed up and looking for an upgrade to the sensation. The phone didn't die on me, but the lack of an official JB build is forcing devs into shooting blind. I have the same rom I used about a year ago (ARHD 6.8 which is rock solid btw) when I bought it, and as patient as I can be, I feel the development on this phone is pretty slow and htc surely isn't helping this at all, especially if taken into consideration that they lied about releasing JB for the sensation.
The last stable version of CM is that of CM9, nightlies see no commits, it's terrible.
I am looking for something else, with more active development and better specs, hopefully not a samsung. I still like HTC. The only compromise for me would be maybe a samsung galaxy nexus or the latest nexus.
What can you recommend?

I would hang back until nexus 5 comes out and see if its up to your liking the nexus 4 has pretty good support, as does the HTC one I believe. (Which also has full s-off ) I was leaning towards the Xperia z but the battery is apparently not very good, and some people are having issues with the back glass coming up a little. Which is obv not good when your phone is ment to be water tight!
