Hi everyone, this is my first post and I recently bought my first Android device (yes, yes, I'm a 100% noob). BTW, I also did the search (google and xda) for this problem, without results.
This is the story:
- I few weeks ago I bought my new Samsung Galaxy Tab wifi (p1010), with Android 2.2 Froyo, and it is not rooted or flashed with some rom.
- Search on the market for an official version of Skype, but no, at this time there was no one.
- Then, I find one on getjar, works ok, but only audio.
- A few days ago I uninstalled the getjar version an install another one, version 2.0.0.45-signed, from villanrom, announced with video support, but at the moment of accepted a video-call the application always fails and closed.
- After that, I uninstalled it, and wait for a new and better one.
- Here is the problem: I have tried with another versions (villanrom 2.0.0.47sig, xda-Froyo-droidrx, the first one from getjar, and others, even the "official one" 2.0.0.47 from the market) but always I got the same error "Out of space: Skype could not be installed. Free up space and try again"
- I can instal other apps (apk and market) without any problem.
- My Summary is: Program 438MB/1.87GB, Personal data 10.00MB/69.77MB, Internal memory 4.38GB/12.74GB", with NO External SD card.
Please, I need some help to resolve this problem, before doing anything drastic, like an hard-reset
Best regards and thanks
Jerome
[note. sorry for my regular english... ]
Please. I need some expert help with this problem.
Best regards
Jerome
You can try to run Titanium Backup, to see whether there still is some kind of skype installation on your tablet. If Titanium Backup can find something, then try to uninstall/wipe data/force remove app (all in Titanium Backup).
Another thing u could try is to use Root Explorer, and browse to data/app/ and see if there is still some skype in there (com.skype.raider-1.apk?). If there is, delete it. Also go to data/data/ and see if there is still something from skype there (perhaps com.skype.raider?). If there is, delete it.
Finally you could try to clear your dalvik cache. Usually that's done in clockworkmod, but as I'm not sure if you have that on your tablet, check here.
If none of that helps, I would backup some important stuff and then do a factory reset. Or better yet, put a nice new rom on there (either official or unofficial, no idea what's out there for the galaxy tab). At least go to gingerbread (android 2.3.x), or honeycomb (android 3.x) if that's available for your tab.
good luck!
PS; as for skype, i would recommend to use droidrx's mod. He's making great progress and most likely very soon there will be some kind of "final" and bug-free version.
Many many thanks.
My tab it´s not rooted yet (I think if I do that then lose guaranty)... I will try to do a factory reset or firmware update first... Only if that fail, then I will apply the root solution... BTW, wich one it is the better method/app for root a g-tab (with the un-root option included)??
Best regards
Jerome
Just did a 5 minute research, and apparently for some people there is already an official gingerbread update available. I would rather do that then a factory reset at this point. Gingerbread is a much better version of android than you have at the moment.
Rooting your galaxy tab is dead easy apparently, read here.
If you're thinking about installing a custom rom, see the Galaxy tab android development section.
Yep, but the update it's not available for everyone... I got installed the lastest version of Kies (2.0.1.11053_99), and it's shows "Current fw version = Latest = PDA:KB4 / CSC:KB4 (CHO)".. May be because my country (Chile).
SuperOnceClick looks fine, but with this issue
Note:
I have tried unrooting the device and rooting it again and this is not working. so this is to let you know that you will have to reflash the firmware to root the device if you unroot it again using this software and try to root until some one finds a solution

Yea, that means that you can still get your tablet back to the factory state (including root), in case you wanna bring it back for warranty. Which is probably never going to happen anyway.
So my advice would be just to flash a gingerbread 2.3.4 rom, as i've noticed you don't even need to have root to do this. Who knows how long chile will wait with distributing a new android version?
no te preocupes!
EDIT: just be careful with one thing, i've noticed not all customs roms will work on your tablet since you have a wifi only tablet. keep that in mind when looking for a rom and make sure that the rom will be compatible.
Apparently I'm not the only one with this specific problem... It's look like some bad install/uninstall process with the "VillainRom" version on the GTab.
Google search:
villainrom Skype with Video Support for Various Devices... #55
(Sorry, but the system says that I'm too noob to publish external links.. )
Sadly, they have not released a solution yet
Best regards
Jerome
EDIT: Searching a little bit more, find this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857334
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156569#15398287
OK, I´m not the first one with this specific problem, but some says even with root they can´t delete skype directory from system.
Jerome
Solution:
Run terminal and type:
"rm_-R_/data/data/ com.skype.raider" _ = space
i failed the oparation a few times until i got it..
After that i'v downloaded Skype again, but this time it installed successfully,
Im very disappointed with Skype team failing to fix the problem and having there paying customers to Root there devices !
Jerome,
I guess you are in the same boat i am.
I went to Chile in June and bought a P1010 at Falabella store. My FW is the same as yours and there's no ROM to upgrade (official or custom).
There's no development for it here. Also the video skype is for the GB not froyo.
The only tweaks i could do was the root (z4root) and the OCLF.
Sorry for this bad news... But at least i loved to visit your country. The Piscosawer, the "CONGRO" fish and the "Cafe con Piernas" 8))

Searched before asking, came up empty.
I tried upgrading to various ICS roms from on the forum. Every single one give me the same problems with market/play: Server error. I can not connect to the market. I never had a problem with honeycomb, and I've tried various roms and different versions of gapps. Also my cellphone (Huawei U8800) connects fine. I'm downloading the NVflash stock version now to try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524302
Any ideas on what may be the problem or what I can try to fix it?
The only possible thing I can think of is that because I'm in China it doesn't like the ICS versions of market/play, but that doesn't really make much sense.
Update: The NVFlash stock non-rooted version didn't work. Tried downloading and manually updating to the latest Google play, still got server error. Downgraded back to Honeycomb, didn't work. I ended up having to use a “Chinese Market" whose name I shouldn't mention. At least I can get adobe flash and the rest of the basics. Thanks Google. Even better was the "Chinese Market" updated Google play.

I had the same problem, full wipe, installed different ROMs didn't help.
If you have a VPN to US for once, the problem will resolve, after that the Market/Play will work even outside of US. The problem is on Google side.
Hi guys,
Well, after having my P5100 (Samsung G. Tab 2, 10.1) with a stock rom, I've decided to change it for a Cyanogen stable rom, dated of 2013-09-23 19:17:17. Stock rom (4.2.2) was very slow, with lots of lag on it.
I have done everything as the "manual" says, and installed the above mentioned rom. It became more fluid, and more simple. Perfect.
But i am having here an issue, that I don't know how to solve it.
The thing is that I usually read newspapers on my Tab. This works as it follows:
1. we download an app of the newspaper,
2. every time we have a new edition we receive a notification by email, saying that the new issue is available for download;
3. we open the app and start downloading;
4. after downloading, it starts installing the newspaper (since it is a bit interactive and not just a .pdf)
Since I changed to Cyanogen, with the same 4.2.2 as I had on stock rom, when the newspapper installation comes to end, the app simply closes with error. From that moment, I can't even open the app since it simply will close again with error.
Any ideas how to solve this that doesn't require getting back to stock rom?
Many thanks! :good:

Hi there,
I've tried what you suggested, the error still happens.
I really don't know why it runs on Android 4.2.2 stock, and don't on Android 4.2.2 cyanogen.
Thanks anyway. If you remember anything else to suggest, I would appreciate.

Updated to JB back in January and since then I was very disappointed with decreased performance and lag.. even factory reset did not help...
So I have made decision to flash back to ICS 4.0.4.. Everything went fine and my Note is like new The only problem is that it auto downloaded JB update again and it's nagging me every couple of hours to upgrade (which I obviously don't want to do).
ICS doesn't seem to have option in settings to disable updates.. Or at least I am not able to find it...
Could somebody hint me how can I delete downloaded JB firmware update and stop Note from downloading it again?
Thanks
DrLamok
ps: I was trying to find similar topic here on the forum but failed to find solution.

I don't know if this will work but if you just root your tab, samsung update will see it's modified and you never get updates again.
If you later wanna do updates just use odin.
Hope that helps...
This is the stock US KitKat ROM for The Galaxy Tab 3 7" Tablet. Finally found it after a bunch of hassle online, and figured I'd post it here to make things easier for everyone.
When I Odin'd this ROM, it actually upgraded my tablet, and left all my items installed (not guaranteeing this will work the same for everyone else).
Afterwards, I just Odin'd TWRP to reroot using Chainfire's SuperSU (no other Superuser would work) and called it good.
Caution: if you are using a custom ROM, this may not work without reflashing stock 4.1.2 since the 4.4.2 ROM appears to be an update, rather than a full ROM.
Rooted devices and custom kernels that are otherwise stock should be fine.
The cache, and if possible dalvik-cache should be cleared before flashing. Some of those files can sometimes interfere with upgrades.
It might be necessary to pinpoint apps that are force closing, uninstall and reinstall them. Some apps, particularly paid apps, store their data differently on KitKat, and will automatically fail as a result.
If that fails, it might be necessary to factory reset the device.
The Stock 4.1.2 ROM for the T210R is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-stock-sm-t210r-4-1-2-jellybean-odin-t2958676
The T210R...XAR file is for the 210R:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2iEgzRTFjrQTmI0ZjRBbWtOajQ&authuser=0
The ITV file is for the T210 (no R)
To download these ROMs, a torrent client is required (such as utorrent).
Anyone who wishes to contribute, please seed if you can after downloading ("Force Starting" the torrent will seed it indefinitely.)
Can I flash this on the SM-T210?

I've seen both devices referenced together quite regularly, implying that they use the same ROM.
http://www.boeboer.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-3-7-sm-t210r-manual-guide-wifi/
And even use the same kernel from what I've read:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439564
I would take standard precautions, such as having a odin image of your original software available and performing a backup of your current system (if able).
Perhaps someone else has some insight to this question?
edit: Looks like I had my information wrong. Found where I obtained the ROM from, it is for the T210R model, and was not intended for the T210.
There are custom ROMs that have been patched for use on both devices, which is where my confusion came from, but this is an official ROM.
I have gotten my hands on the T210(no R) ROM file, and have update the Links above.
I am not responsible for any failed attempts at flashing to either device.

First, thanks for this. I have the T210R. I tried using this and had the same result, it updated the tablet instead of loading a completely new version. I did however run into a problem...the tablet had many for closes and reboots to a point it was unusable and so I reverted back to my backup. Did you see this? Maybe I had a bad download?

I did not have this problem, but I didn't have much on my Tab either. (Some apps don't play well with KitKat upgrades.)
Torrents have multiple segmented hashchecks to make sure you get an uncorrupted download, but it might still be possible. I'm reasonably sure my file is OK since I've used it (can't speak for the non R file though).
Did you clear your cache, and if possible your dalvik cache? I've read that some of those files interfere with upgrades.
If you can pinpoint the apps that are force closing, uninstall and reinstall them. Some apps, particularly paid apps, store their data differently on KitKat, and will automatically fail as a result.
Other option would be to try a factory reset and see if that fixes it. (I understand not wanting to do that though.)
One more thing, if your ROM isn't stock, or stock rooted (custom kernel should be ok too), you may have to flash 4.2 before the 4.4 ROM will work on the device.
Right guys, here i go, just joined and first question!!!
i have not ever rooted a sm-t210 but it was rooted when i bought it second hand!
i have linux installed on my p.c. and was wondering if there is a way to upgrade to and official KITKAT!
as stated i am having problems because my SM-T210 wifi only! and want to update to kitkat official release!
but was hoping also that there is a way/method to root via LINX and not via windows!!
if that is not possible how do i go about it on windows!! as i can use a friends WINDOWS-P.C. if i must!
ah also my SM-T210 does not have the options to change the function of the USB-function,,,
i.e.
it used to have an option to,, use as a mass storege, media transfer or use with samsung keis,,, or some thing of the sort
but this option has dissapeared! may have been my fault!!!! as i uninstalled some system apps,
now it crashes and reboots whenever i try to turn of USB-DEBUGGING options in DEVELOPER-OPTIONS !!!!
many thanks in advance,

Just to triple check, by the above quote you mean that if my tablet is currently rooted, I should still be fine to flash this update correct? [obviously it would become non-rooted once flashed and I'd have to re-root it as you mentioned you rooted after installing]
Also, how much space does this take up?
thanks

That is correct. I was rooted running the Werewolf custom OC kernel. I still had my tablet upgrade without wiping, and one other user has reported back saying the same. But I can not promise upgrade as opposed to overwrite.
The flash file once extracted, is about 1.4 GB, I don't know sizes beyond that. It does not repartition the tablet however.

Well this is awesome, system won't mount and I don't have a backup. For some (unknown) reason, Odin3 nor JOdin3 doesn't seem to work for flashing my Samsung Galaxy Tab3 device. For that reason I tried Heimdall-Frontend, but to make that work you need to extract the content of a stock ROM first.
Anyways, it still didn't lead to get my device into factory reset yet.
But that's another story on which I still have not yet found the answers needed to get the device successfully back into factory reset.
My guess is that the 'system.img' file, of Android 4.4.2, successfully has been loaded from Heimdall-Frontend, yet by going into reboot right away after Heimdall-Frontend releases the connected device, the download may be deleted.
I read that the cause of that may lie in the fact that Android 4.4.2 is only an update and no full ROM.
