Hi
I'm facing a problem with my Nexus S, before it was working... but, unfourtunatlly i just make some modification in the system file and now my phone not working and stuck at the google logo black screen... exactly, i think the problem in the java runtime.jar file that was in the system folder, i replace it with another file and all that done since i want to add another language to the system so that it can understand it. but, the device now is not working....
I tried to enter the recovery mode and wipe all data, but nothing change. its keep the same. so i tried also to format the system (from the recovery) since, the modification done in that folder... also, its not working....
So, I think the best way right now is to return it to the default rom(official one from google) , i download it, and tried to flash it using the "fastboot" command but it keep give me error when writing for system.img file....
What can I do right know ??? I can't use my device at all...
Help me Guys, please.....
For future reference Factory wipe doesn't touch /system...just /data.
If you formatted your /system, and it actually formatted, all you can do now is restore a working system.
If you didn't make your own nandroid backup of the system (and you ALWAYS should in the future before messing with system level modifications) to have a known working configuration, then your best bet in my opinion is to go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884093
Download the nandroid image from there and flash it to your phone using Clockwork Recovery.
Good luck.

But, The question here is.... how can i flash it when i can't get access to the memory(since the Nexus S doesn't have sd memory slot) and to the system ??
when i enter the recovery, all i can do is use the fastboot command.... can i use it here ??
Thanks alot .....
If you boot into Clockwork, you should be able to use it's mounts menu to mount the sdcard...then use adb to push the files to your sdcard. adb should be active and working in clockwork.
If that doesn't work out for you, you could also try the Odin and "download mode" approach from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947950

Hello guys
I have the same problem, but i guess for different reasons.
I applyed the superboot from the modaco´s forum on my nexus s, but I guess I did it with the wrong version (i had got the 2.3.4 ota before doing so and used a 2.3.3 version) and now my phone won´t boot. My rom was stock. Now, it remains on that google initial screen. I can´t get to upload anything for the device since I guess the usb debug mode is off, although when I connect the device to the computer, the system shows the usb driver. I guess my device is GT90 something, can´t say for sure. Have to check at the box.
That said, I´d like some help on what to do about it.
I´ll be forever grateful!

The thing is that i already have clockworkmode installed and i can access it through bootload, in fact is the only thing i can do. My problem is that i just can´t send the recovery.img from the pc to the phone. And I also think that the usb debug mode is unavailabe, so I can´t activate it.
I´m new to this thing so the only way I could move files into the phone was through windows explorer drag and drop. Honestly I´m lost without it.
Is there a different way to push it to the phone ?
I understand this forum is intended to more experienced users, and for that I apologise.
Guys I found a solution by enabling USB from clockwork! Thanks! Keep the good work!

Hello "ectole", could you let me know how you get out of it. I am in the same problem. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13800735#post13800735 to root my phone, now I always boot into clockwork. I can I boot into Nexux again?
Hi guys,
I'm in a similar situation. I tried to install CyanogenMod 7 to my Nexus S (ATT), got stuck at the skating dude.
Booted back into Clockwork, and tried to flash back to the stock firmware, but I think I accidentally flashed the wrong one (for the 9020T instead of 9020A) build. Now I can't get into ClockworkMod or anything on the screen whatsoever.
Does anyone have any tips at all? I'm really screwed here, would appreciate it a lot...

Hey bante just go to clockwork then to mount/dismount menu and the last option should be mount USB storage. Mount it and stay there and your PC should see the sd card. Then upload what you want.

HELP!!! Odin bricked my Nexus S i9020a
I attempted to use odin to restore my phone. Could not get past bootloading screen. Put phone in recovery mode and used odin and grh78 firmware.
Odin went thru the whole process and said success, then my phone shut off, and will not power back on. Any ideas?

By 'recovery mode', do you mean download mode? (you hold both vol up and vol down then plug in USB)

Sounds like you flashed i9023 software. You could try Odin. Does your computer recognize the phone?

I search this form but haven’t been able to find a solution to my problem; I’m hoping some has already experienced this problem. I have flashed several roms on my previous phone but this was my first attempt in rooting my Inspire and flashed a new rom. I used the ACE Hack kit to root the phone. Then used the CWM-RECOVERY-APP to wipe the phone then installed Coredroid (all from the SD card).
I’m stuck in bootloader / clockworkmod, and can’t reboot my phone.
Any suggesting would be greatly appreciated.
Edit.....edit

You should still be able to boot into recovery mode Power off your phone wait like 10sec after powering off. Then its VOL down & Power at the same time still holding down the vol down it should boot into recovery with in 5sec or so. Once your into recovery I want to say select mounts and mount USB storage. Once you do so you would be able to access your SD CARD and remove what it is most likely you have the PD98IM.ZIP still on your sd card. IF not I would say re D|L what ever rom you have and reflash..hope this helps
Is it possible to use the ACE Hack kit to flash the stock RUU to fix this problem?
Thanks

its cool dude..just remember that you can still always boot into recovery mode with that step that I stated above I had to go that route a once or twice before cause of a bad d|l.. but Im sure you know once you get everything all working and installed with whatever ROM you chose make sure you do a ROM back up with rom manager back up options..never know when you may need it lol
This is my first thread that i ever needed to start on anything on phones so please understand that i'm REALLY DESPERATE i have looked in a ton of places for this fix and i tried to use clockworkmod and ended up doing that correctly but when i tried to restore it it say i dont have any backups nor recovery files and i tried putting cynagenmod on my sd card but it couldnt find the file and then i tried to use NFFLASH and make it stock android again but nothing happened and ended up stuck on the blue logo screen again. please i dont know what to do
Which version of Cyanogenmod is it? Put it on the root of your SD card. Is it already on the internal storage? I believe when you click "install from .zip" or something of the equivalent there's an option to select "choose from internal storage".
You can boot back into clockwork mod by turning the phone off, holding down the power and volume down buttons until the lg logo with the BLUE background appears, then release.
I was trying to install cynagen mod 7.01 from Rom manager but it froze in the logo screen and so i took out the battery and put it back on and it still continued to do that. After that i used CWM but i didnt have any ROMS to restore it and before it didnt correctly make my backup so i just want to restore it like the way it used to but i dont know where to put it in my sd card

Your sentence is incredibly long. Gave up after the desperate grab for attention. You may have wiped your backups by mistake. It happens. I did it not once, but twice. Give us more info so we can help. ROM, kernel, etc. A list of apps you run on a daily basis would be helpful.

Never use rom manager to install on this phone, you'll continue to run into this problem.
Can you access your phone storage when it's plugged into your computer? If you can, drop CM onto it at the root directory, put it back into your phone, boot into CWM and install the zip.
i think my rom was stock rom 2.3.4 before i tried flashing cynagenmod the apps arent very important to me and i only had this phone for a week because i got too excited about the dual core.
Follow the instructions HERE to the letter. You'll go back to stock and you'll have to root your phone again (if that's what you want to do) but it should get you up and running again.
In future, search, search, and search some more. I assure you, most problems people have had have been discussed and probably solved on these forums.

What is the name for this process of trying to restore my device from blue logo screen? If i know the name of the issue im trying to fix maybe i can start searching for the guides. I can't really access my internal or sd card when i plug in my usb and i don't really understand what the problem i ran into if its even fixable or not. The link you've sent me for the guide i'm trying right now but i can't just sit here and wait for an hour. Feedback is really appreciated

The whole process (if done correctly) should take but about 15 minutes give or take. What you'll be doing is Flashing Stock Recovery. Download the file provided in the link I gave, and then follow each instruction exactly as it says. Shouldn't be a need to Google any guides as this spell it out for you. Just have read and execute.
If you used NvFlash/One Click Recovery to flash Clockwork Mod to your device then you should already have the APX driver installed on your computer. In that case, half of the battle is already done.
But, if you installed your recovery using Rom Manager, then I would download the APX driver and go through the whole process in the guide I've linked from start to finish.
Hey there, apologies in advance if I have submitted this thread in the wrong section. I really looked as hard as I could before posting.
Well I rooted my phone, got super user on there, then got clockworkmod red, and then attempted to put the ice cream sandwich mod on my phone, thats where everything went sour. Phone would not go past screen that says samsung. I tried a few times to get it to go past that point, and just nothing. I then attempted to use odin to have my phone put back, but now I cannot even get the phone to open up clockworkmod.
To put it very simply. The only thing I have access to now is the download option (holding both volume up and down while inserting the usb cable from the computer) I have searched the internet high and low for something to run through odin to put my phone back to the way it was. I keep coming up with dead links and long dead downloads. I was able to use the gtg ultimate unbrick, but all that managed to accomplish was to have my phone say at&t instead of rogers.
Im still at the screen that says samsung, with no access to a recovery menu at this point. I only have the download option.
Can anyone help me salvage my phone?
edit: I appear to have been able to reput clockworkmod back on the phone with odin. Thats all I have been able to do.
When flashing any ics Rom/port from.gingerbread/red recovery you will need to double flash...I'm seeing a lot of people.with bricks lately and I think the problem is they are not reading enough before flashing ics...
So you have cwm correct? Boot into cwm by holding volume up down and power button. If you have no roms hen go to mounts and storage and mount USB then plug it into the pc and copy over the Rom...if its gingerbread Rom.just one flash...if its ics then flash, you will get stuck on Samsung screen so boot back into cwm...you will either boot into a blue or some distorted rainbowy cwm...just reflash he Rom
If you can't do that...then idk what else to do as I don't know much about rogers phones and what is and isn't compatible with them...but u would suggest qksters heimdal one click back to stock uclb3...its always worked for me...but not sure if it will work with rogers...

Use this link/program from download mode to get to stock 2.3.6.
Wait, if you can get to download mode, you can reflash JScott's option C from here, then get into CWM red, flash the ICS of your choice, reboot into CWM blue (press and hold vol up/vol dn/power 5 seconds when stuck at sammy screen), wipe data/cache/dalvik, reboot and you should have ICS.
I understand that some people will never get "it", but reading the entire post for flashing/modding firmware is a MUST.
My thunderbolt has been rooted and has s-off. It keeps trying to install the ICS update and I can't stop it from rebooting and trying to install it after just a minute when it is turned on. Can someone help me to get it back to stock? I don't know all the terminology here so most of these threads are greek to me. I rooted originally via a YouTube vide.

If I understand you correctly, you are on a rooted phone but have not flashed a ROM on it yet? And by being in that position,, your phone is trying to take an ota update from Verizon. If that is correct and you have also flashed a custom recovery like clockwork mod or 4ext, turn off you phone. Use a computer to download the ROM you want. On your phone, simultaneously hold power and volume down buttons until boots to the white bootloader screen. Go into recovery from there. In recovery you should find an option to mount the phone to a computer as a USB drive (or something like that). Plug your phone into a computer and then choose that option. Once your connected, copy whatever ROM you got to your phone. Disconnect your phone. In recovery choose factory reset/wipe data. Then navigate thru recovery to install from sd card the ROM you got. Reboot.
Please note: this will delete all user data from your phone. Any info not backed up will be lost, unless it is on your Google account or on your sd card.
