[Q] 3D on optimus 3D - LG Optimus 3D

After a few observations on some 3D games optimised for the Optimus 3D, i have a few questions.
I believe the 3D effect is created in the similar way on how the TriDef/3D Vision drivers work (by generating left/right images changing the angle of the polygons etc) for each eye
On the PC this gives true stereoscopic gaming. eg with racing games, the background looks far and gradually goes towards the front
I have noticed that even with the 3D optimised games on the O3D as well as those put through the 2D to 3D converter that this effect does not seem to look too good. Scoreboard, touch buttons etc appear in front but the entire gaming section seems flat at the back.
Only exception to this seems to be Avatar where the 3D effect is more noticable (eg leaves at the front appear like they are in front etc) and more depth.
3D video's etc no issue, they look great. What do you think about the games? Is it really using the optimised viewport changing/adjusting to create the true 3d? I know there is some heavy CPU/GPU load in particular when converting the 2D games to 3D, but effect is nowhere near as good as it would be on for example the nintendo 3DS/PC with tridef drivers etc. It certainly is not an issue of the parallax barrier or small screen as the video's look great on it.
Can anyone give me examples of some other games that demonstrate the 3D well?

'Lets Golf 2' is pretty good with the 3D. (IMO)

Why is it called Touch Flo 3D ?

Yes, why. It's not 3D. When it was a rotating cube, it was 3D, but now, it's all 2D !
Any idea ?
On the D2 they refer to it as Enhanced TouchFlo 3D .... hmmmm
If you scroll across the banner then you can't rotate like a 3D surface. You simply reach the end like a 16th century ship sailing off the edge of the flat Earth.
I think you have to imagine the 3D .... along with the configeration options and flexibility with 3rd party products.
I think it's just the 3D animated effects, for example when swiping through text messages & emails, and the flip clock.
Back when I had my Kaiser, these were the only differences between TF2D and TF3D roms. So yeah, not really that 3D I guess.
TF3D was used for original Diamond, so I guess the new TF3D for Diamond2 and Pro2 with extra features & functionality is 'enhanced' TF3D.
It's just a name some HTC guy invented. That's all It could be 4D if they wanted.
Maybe it has nothting to do with depth, but is it call 3d because it's the third installment of touchflo ... the next version is probably called touchflo 4D then ..
Maybe they use the programming API for the 3D Ati extension, what's it called OpenES (??) for the GUI.
I know for sure SPB MS 3.0 uses 3D acceleration for their GUI (Carousel Mode) and TD2, HD is able to use the acceleration. Had a Asus P565 and HP hx4700 which does not use the 3D acceleration during the carousel mode.
3D is an abbreviation for "3 times more Demanding on your RAM"

They actually use the Vincent OpenGL ES API since TF3D.
The clock, the image transitions, contact flips, ... are all 3D.
Why is it called 3D while you still can't see 3D ?
Because the screen is 2D ... quite normal
So why do they call it 3D ?
It's like saying a 3D-game.
Everything is calculated in x, y and z parameters, but are translated into 2D graphics to display on your screen.
my question is not "why is it TouchFlo 3D" but why "Manila"?
the weather and the images are in 3d

Manilla is the codename
Touchflo 3d is the name HTC officially sell the UI as.
It is 3d in that the transitions for images, text messages, the flip clock etc. are 3d.
It utilises 3D hardware accelerated graphics (so it runs faster) as oppose to TouchFlo/Manila 2D that doesn't used hardware accelerated graphics.

Sample photos?

I'm 75% certain I'm going to get this phone next month, does anyone have any sample photos from it? (JPS 3D)
All I've ever been able to find is 3D video and I've never been able to find sample 3D photos
can anyone help?
I've looked through this forum and cannot find any unless I've missed something

Would you also be able to upload some 2D pictures at 5mp.
really thank u man - and please some 2D pictures
Hmmm, the stereo seperation seems as bad as I had heard it was - much less than the 3DS. I wonder if forcing the seperation in software can help enough to give decent depth to the photos as viewing them on my 3DS its really subtle and seems to strain my eyes more than usual. Lets hope partly its due to viewing them so low resolution compared to their native.
Why did they put the cameras so close together?

Rename the files to .jpg instead of .jps and view them in any image viewer you have installed.
It is simply 2 jpeg images side by side, taking a separate 2D image should be exactly the same as the left image in the jps stereo pair.

Just looked at the sample images on a 50 inch plasma with 3d glasses. Separation is good.
Some of the images have issues since they were taken with a tilted angle which affects the depth effect, maybe this is the reason for some complaining about the separation.
Stereo photo maker has an auto aligment feature that corrects height difference between the left/image: http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/
The problem is shown on the tree animation at:
http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/help/multiple.htm
Cameras are close since the battery takes up half the phone size, it is a PCB design thing, maybe not enough space to have the battery in the middle. HTC Evo 3D has the same layout.
LG Optimus 3D
The image are awesome liked it.

Viewing 3d content on Stereoscopic screens

How do we playback 3d movies on 3d TVs transferred from O3D device to USB for playback on TV.
I tried it but it shows side by side format and not 3d.
Anyone else tried transferring tyhe 3 dmovie to usb for playback on 3d tv or 3d laptops like acer or asus?
Have you activated 3D mode on the phone?
Is there a manual 3D mode on your other screen?
You have to activate 3d mode on your 3d tv and set it to side by side but I think the 3d effect isn't that good on the top and there is major ghosting present
Sent from my LG-P920 using Tapatalk
i have 3d laptop with active interlaced 3d.
Now whereas transferred pictures are in complete 3d, the movie is not.
Side by side format as input and output as interaced 3d real 3d works using steroscopic player.
Cyberlink power dvd for example also has an option to select source format and one has to choose side by side as source.
Thanks mate.
JOb done
I don't own a mini to normal HDMI cable so I haven't hooked up my phone directly to my 3D monitor (LG passive) yet but I just transfer the pics and movies to my pc and play them with TriDef mediaplayer or Stereoscopic Player and that works great.
If I 'simulate' hooking up my phone to my monitor directly by opening a movie in mediaplayer classic, letting it play side by side in fullscreen and setting my 3D monitor input setting to SBS the movies look worse, less 3D and more ghosting.
I have a sony 3d tv, hook up mini usb works no problem. quality is not to good of a 46 inch tv (pictures, games)
Just switch your tv onto sbs.
For images rename .jps to jpg, resize to 1920x1080 pixels and view full screen. SBS works perfect then
You dont need to change the name if you are using tridef.
If you are viewing through a normal player you may need to choose SBS and rename as jpg.
But which normal player allows to choose SBS? I only know of Photoshop
My monitor has lots of options to view 3D content including SBS. You should be able to change the extension to jpg and view the SBS file fullscreen in just about any application and then set your monitor or tv's 3D mode to SBS as well. That way I'm able to view pics and movies in 3D without using 3D software like TriDef or Stereoscopic Player. But like I said earlier, the quality is worse that way.
Chances are that this only works when your tv or monitor is hooked up with HDMI.
PUT phone in 3d and your tv in 3d.
I can view on my TV MPO and JPEGS but not JPS. This wouldnt be so much of an issue if the LG 3D TV i have didnt keep turning the 3 off every time i switch photo's.
Any work around for this?
Anyone have any advice on Evo 3d to LG Passive 3d monitor, such as the d2342p? It seems the LG 3d Monitor is interleaved by row; whereas the parallax barrier e3d / evo 3d / 3vo is interleaved columns... I'm thinking that the LG Optimus 3d is the same as the evo 3d...
I'd love to be able to hookup the optimus3d or the Evo3d with the LG cinema 3d / d2342p / LG 3dmonitor, but am not having any luck yet.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
I was wondering, if the youtube app has it locked into this interleaved columns to work with the glasses-free parallax barrier; could one instead access youtube.com on the browser, and select the 3d option on a yt3d enabled type video and just set it to "row interleaved" and see if that works?
Going to be giving that a try tonight.

[Q] What's the best way to convert 2D to 3D movies?

i just got my Sandisk 64gb mSDXC card and i want to stuff it with 3D movies that are custom made(optimized resolution and increased volume) anyone got suggestions?
All you need to do is to convert any existing videos (eg sidebyside) to 800x480 with left image 400x480 pixels and right 400x480 alongside each other. These would be squashed horizontally but when playing it back, you can select the video options and select the original format.
Use H264 codec for tightest compression and AAC for the audio. 25/30 fps
after any conversion of the 3D effect still will not look so good, it is better initially to shoot 3D camera so as not to spoil the impression =)
I think you are looking for something like this
http://www.xilisoft.com/3d-video-converter.html
haven't tried it to be honest but tried other from their producst and are great

The movies need to be anaglyph to be able to be seen in 3D using anaglyph 3D glasses ( blue/red ). You don't need any special player to watch them either, just play them off YouTube and put the glasses on.
Now if you expect SBS or TBT 3D movies to work on a 60Hz panel, which the Moto G3 has, then you're out of luck.
Youtube videos with side-by-side 3D will also work.
Only problem is, that on the Moto G 2015 Youtube doesn't offer the "Cardbord" button for switching to the Google cardboard optimized view.
Not sure why this is missing as even on my ancient Samsung Galaxy Tab the Cardboard mode is available.
This might be due to the fact that the Moto G is missing a Gyroscope. Which of course would be totally stupid as a missing Gyroscope would effect some Cardboard usages like 360° videos, but would be no problem for viewing plain 3D videos.
