We dont have kernels with governors support because of lack of coding from nvidia i believe.
Someone correct me if im wrong.

Wait, so the powersave/performance governors mean nothing?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA

I feel that the powersave governor is reducing my battery life. I got the governors by downloading rom toolbox.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA

I have 2 available governors, powersave and performance. Using Faux's kernel, but in whatever rom I'm on I get those options. Hmmm.

Wrong, we don't have them because tegra 2 does it natively on the chip so it's not necessary

Its not necessary or not possible? I know the Tegra 2 has HW governors, but what if we want to change them? Not possible or just not in demand by the community?

I believe faux stated that since the hardware governors work so well its not on his to do list. Also I'm sure leaving it up to the hardware chip is a lot more efficient then a software override

Need Help Deciding

So I have the opportunity right now to exchange my droid charge with my moms droid x. Now the droid x has miui and cm7 and alot more development and roms but im not sure if its worth leaving this phone. what are you guys's opinion? DX or DC?(just to make it clear, it the original droid x, not the droid x 2) thanks in advance!
I also just learned that they almost have a fully functional ics ..they're only missing mms, and speakerphone bbasically

It really depends on you. I am a flashaholic, but there are many things that I would give up for the Charge if given a Droid X.
Super AMOLED Plus v LCD
4G v 3G
Those are the two things that I wouldn't give up.
No. just, no.

Hands down the screen does it for me. No way I let go of the charge for that phone. Maybe for a nexus.

If you gotta ask, I suppose that you haven't used the Droid X. I think it's a downgrade in every way.

Well I have used it, but I mean, I haven't gotton a chance to flash a rom on it and see how it performs with ics or cm7 or miui. I think we can all admit that this is a good phone, but any other okay phone with aosp might perform better in daily use

Keep your charge, good things are coming. And when it does you'll wish you still had your charge.

Even with cm9 cm7 and miui? I mean, they are bboth 1000mhz...the only difference is lte on the charge(which I dont have in my area) ALOT more development on the dx, and the screens

A smart choice, IMO.
I would load up either Infinity or Tweakstock.
Then I would flash ICS Fugu and run the V-6 and Scheduler Changer scripts.
I personally overclock, but to each their own.

[Q] What app are you guys using to overclock?

-topic title-
Any of them work fine in my experience.
I paid for setcpu a long time ago, so that's what I usually use, but I've also tried antutu and had no problems. I think the other i used was PimpMyCPU, and it did the job as well.
As long as you set your OC and UV correctly, it's just a matter of taste.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Don't forget that you need an overclock capable kernel along with an app such as SetCPU.
I use pimp my cpu.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I use SetCPU. I just think it works. No frills, just does the job, and does it well. But, like what everyone is saying...it's all about taste.
SetCPU does the job bud. It's free for XDA users.

How is it free? Isnt there just a paid version? How'd you get the app for free?
setcpu.
Simple, gets the job done. + it's free for xda user
personally system tuner is the best check it out you wont be upset with it its free and has many features
Any app I use to over clock with my ROM right now gives me a boot loop sadly

Eureka! Ya, my dumba$$ was searchin the wrong section lol

Eugene just released a kernel for the skyrocket to test.

Eugene just released a kernel to test that fixes the issues with flashing a hercules ROM.Go to development section and look for Macnut. If you don't know Eugenes work he is top notch. The rom it self Is wounderful.

Downloading and installing now. Running SKYIcs speed 7.4 b.t.w.
Booted up pretty quick. Seems to be running really smooth. Doing antutu now

Its a good idea to use apn backup from market if your going to flash this. Makes the whole data thing alot easier as this is a tmobile rom so it comes with tmobile apn's. Other than that flawless so far
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Ran great all day with no issues. 192 default which is nice as most other kernels default to 384 even when set to 192.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Found it a little laggy with my current setup. No issues with rotation and such just found it a little sluggish. Prob due to the 192 but I left as is to test. Running a modded bonestock
I found it laggy at first but I went into setcpu and chose the Lionheart governor and it has been super smooth.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I have been running the kernel with sky ics. Seemed a but smoother than with the faux kernel but no faster. Then out of nowhere I got a soft reboot or something.
I think eugenes kernal was meant to be ran on tmobile roms wasn't it? Maybe in wrong lol
Sent from my pocket rocket
Yeah but he made a modification for the skyrocket.
Kernel's working good for me. OCing to the max on the lagfree governor. Smooth as can be

Question?

At the moment I'm running barebones rom, antonX's kernel and LZ... If I want to uc using setcpu, what values so I use...
Thanks in advance...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
Questions like this are really silly.... It all depends on what you want, performance versus battery life, or a bit of both...
Check out this thread dude, it's super useful and use voltage control not setcpu, I guess its preference...

Until antonx released his kernel we had to use tegrak to do this. Some people still use it and don't realize you can use setcpu.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2
I get that and I'm not trying to say anything bad, or negative I just don't feel like paying for another app when setcpu will do the same... I will play with it and try to get some good values for uc... I will post ss if everything works out... I do appreciate all the help this Site and the ppl on it have helped me out with getting this phone where I would like it to be...

Being that you're on antonx's ROM you can use voltage control (from play store) for free to accomplish uv/oc
I personally have mines undervolted by 125 across all frequencies without issue

No doubt about cm10.1 on our phone now.

looked like the developers were getting hung up on the RIL before, so this should speed up the development process quite nicely
I was considering getting a new phone, but this changed my mind. I always wondered why such a powerful phone had such lame roms like gingerbread

Weird thing is, a lot of people are reporting slow and buggy phones. However, some people are also reporting that their phones are smooth and that they have great battery life (optimus 2x forums)
