*Black Speck Case Mod* Fix For Scratched Case! - T-Mobile LG G2x

Bought a black speck case off of amazon after seeing one in the TMO store. Loved the feel and weight of the case. Got the case and slipped it on my phone. Didn't even make it a day without looking like it had been hit with a cheese grinder.
So i tried to think of a way to get rid of the scratches. Car scratch remover was a fail and i got so pissed i threw it in my father in laws sand blaster. To my surprise it turned out great. removed the black paint and used armor all wipes and spray then let it dry in the sun.

I really like this idea. Do you think my power wash machine would do the same to my Speck g2x case?

It developed a few scratches after a month. I put it in the sandblaster and retreated with armor all.
The scratches were very lite compared to scratches I had before I modded it.

have the same case..its pretty good except I would prefer it to protect top and bottom completely and also lip over edge
Yeah I love this holder. Bought 2 just in case it ever breaks and they stop carrying it.
I own this case as well and it has been great so far. Not super thick and the kickstand, while not a marvel of engineering, works well enough. I do not use the holster, just the case.
I searched for all cases with a kickstand and this was really the only one I found and I love it. Protects the phone well.

Same here, and it'd allow for docking on desk and car docks as well.
I also have the kickstand case and its a nice case. Amazon has them around 11 bucks i think too. They are 30 at Verizon for the case and holder.

Like the case, hate the clip so I popped it off. Used it for about a month and had no issues but I did worry about the lack of protection on the top and bottom. I now have a TPU case from cruiserlite and am quite happy with it. I will be switching back and forth with that and the kickstand.
Just as long as it's not the verizon silicone case you'll be fine.

I currently have a single hairline crack starting at the top, just to the left of where the speaker is, curving down and to the right side of the chassis. I'll be getting it repaired soon. Dropped it about 2-3 feet onto concrete. Still works just fine.

Damn dude, I don't know what I'd do if that happened to me! Well, I doubt it would, I have a Trident Aegis Case on mine.
My G2x fell about 3 feet onto tile yesterday and the glass is cracked something terrible. Will post a picture when I get back from vacation.
Hopefully I can get a similar repair deal from LG.
mine didn't quite look as bad as that pic, but was pretty bad. It still worked just fine, I could feel the cracks in it when moving my finger over the glass. Just call LG, they quoted a price between $40-$100, gave me a confirmation number. I mailed it in, then got an email with the total amount due for a repair. Called and paid over the phone, got my phone back about 5 days later...pretty easy..
Definately wasn't happy when it happened, actually felt sick to my stomach
Mine survived a swim in the pool. In fact it stopped randomly rebooting after that. Now it runs great.

No offense, but that's cheap and tacky, somewhat invasive, and won't last long before it has to be replaced. This method is simple and gets more to the root of the problem. Squeaking plastic rubbing together.

This works great. Bought some DuPont Teflon spray (PTFE is a generic name for Teflon). Did as OP instructed and now no more creaking.

Or just buy a nice silicon gel case
which also helps prevent damage from accidentally dropping it as well. I have never heard a single creak yet.
Nice guide will give this a try. Until now i just some paper to prevent creaking.

been there
I just broke mine recently too, I ordered a white replacement digitizer on ebay, originally thought I would receive the whole assembly as most are advertised with the housing that has volume /power buttons, I got just the screen still easy fix though it required some tough gloves and a screwdriver to break all the old digitizer out and some impact proof superglue to put old one in though it worked, and now i have a black and white g2x its quite nice here's a link to a video on how to replace it.
I would recommend for ease of replacement to get a black one with the housing (volume and power buttons) attached. much much easier to replace.

dude, that's seriously sick. is your battery door still that weird brown color? i found one white digitizer on ebay for $78. is that what you paid?
I sent mine to LG (well, Stellar Wireless) after I dropped it, and they swapped it out for me for $40. Unfortunately, the one they sent me had non0functioning 4G and GPS, so I had to send it back in and I'm waiting for my replacement to be returned to me.
I ordered the digitizer from eBay. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to replace

So i wanna see what happen to you if the phone looks like that. Dang man thats bad about the phone but its fix able. Unless you want to sell the phone to me for $50 ill take her off your hands
My new digitizer should be here in a couple days, seems a whole lot easier to repair than my last phone, so I will update on how it goes. My biggest thought is about getting dust or anything between the LCD and digitizer. :/

wha.. was that for? we were tryna guess what you meant earlier in the thread..we were confused when you said you wet-applied the protectors when the earlier pics showed a dry-application type. my first impression was that you're using a wet-application type, but with a cut-out of a dry-application type (i.e protector does not cover the curved sides).
and then you posted that unused dry-application protector pic...and everything is answered. I dun get why you get all fussed up?
was it because of the "whacky" comment? look it up in a dictionary...if you really did misunderstood the meaning

wha.. was that for? we were tryna guess what you meant earlier in the thread..we were confused when you said you wet-applied the protectors when the earlier pics showed a dry-application type. my first impression was that you're using a wet-application type, but with a cut-out of a dry-application type (i.e protector does not cover the curved sides).
and then you posted that unused dry-application protector pic...and everything is answered. I dun get why you get all fussed up?
