[Q] JXD S601 Internal Memory unmounted every time the device starts problem. - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I've recently bought a JXD S601 device.
It worked properly for a few days while I was adding some games and apps for it.
CPU HARDWARE: AMLOGIC MESON3 8726M SKT SH AML8726-M3 REF F 02 (specific board in use) CPU MODEL: ARM v7 (VFPv3, NEON) CPU FREQUENCY 300.0 ~ 600.0 MHz Display: 480-272px GPU ARM Mali-400 MP 1GB NAND 397.5 MB RAM, ~220 MB Available 2GB internal Android 2.3.4 build: MID_PSP.wifi.20120105 kernel: 2.6.34
That is what benchmark showed while it was working. Both "1GB" of a faster internal NAND, and some 2 GB of additional internal memory. When the device is plugged into the USB, I used to be able to access the device memory + my micro SD card.
Now, once I start Android, I get a notice "Internal storage safe to remove. Internal storage safely stopped.". If I try to start File Manager, for example, it only shows "SD Card" which is my Micro SD card. If I take out the micro sd, it only shows "SD Card" but the folder is completely empty.
When it was working normally it showed:
Internal Memory
SD Card
As folder structure. Now the first is missing.
If I go to android settings > storage >
It shows the SD card properly if I put one in.
It shows "Internal NAND flash"
Total space
Unavailable
Available space
Unavailable
Erase internal NAND flash (tried this, it did not make any changes at all, probably because the NAND flash is unmounted and there's no option to mount it back).
Internal storage
Available space
374
This internal storage is not accessible except with ADB software. But I tried this tutorial: (can't post links so please Google "Missing internal flash memory and SD card does not mount" and check the first result on android.stackexchange site) and it did not solve the problem.
"mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/block/vold/31:8/"
I don't have 31:8 but some 200:32 and etc, I tried to use the command for any (all) of the 4, but all returned an error in ADB: "This is not a folder".
The manufacturer, JXD, has given an update.
This would be useful, after flashing the system I could again have access to the normal function, as whatever the error is, 99% the error is in system, possibly corrupted after some program (I'm new to the Android systems, not sure).
I downloaded the update from the JXD site > Download section (filename S601 0229en.rar)
But it is missing some files. All I have is the 2 docx documents, update.zip and uImage_recovery. The tutorial (upgrade method docx document) shows clearly that I need to have factory update aml, uboot aml, and uImage files as well. I don't have them in my update so I can't follow the instructions and put them on SD Card.
I tried to follow the instruction anyways, but it says that those files are missing and cannot proceed.
I've contacted the manufacturer by E-mail and asked them to send me those files, but I'm not sure if I will ever get a reply.
So now if I plugin the device to the computer without SD card, there are 2 drives, but I can't access any of them. With SD card, the first drive is my SD card and I can only access it, but not the internal storage.
Any helpful answers would be utmost appreciated. Thanks for reading the thread.

[Q] Sd card problems on Nook tablet Root

I just rooted my Nook Tablet and everything seemed to install okay. The problem is that when I download a app like MX video player or andftp, they give me an error message saying that permissions are denied to this location. The MX video player will not even open because it says that "SD card is not present". Has anyone else had this problem? And how can I fix this? I followed this instructions. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354487
Thanks
is the sdcard storage usable?
use a filemanager of your choice and browse to /mnt/sdcard
Thats the thing. There is no extra sd card. I am just trying to use the internal l memory.
The internal memory is called sdcard usually.
Check "/mnt/sdcard" that should be the internal memory.
I used a filer manager to view that folder and the manager says that the sd card is not mounted. Also the permissions on the folder are d --. How do I allow programs to use /mnt/sdcard?
Has anyone else had this problem with their nook? I can barely use any appear after rooting.
I have the same problem =(. I want to use the internal memory but whenever i download it says "An SD card is required to download *******.apk."
Exact same issue I am having. I will probably just return it and try something else.
I think this post is the answer to our problems.

I have the Nook Table. It is rooted, with superuser and root explorer on it. I put a 32GB SD Card into it. The B&N Storage avail is 11.87GB. The B&N settings shows the "Other Storage Avail" is 1GB. The B&N Storage sees the SD Card with 116MB avail.
When I check with the root explorer, it also shows the SD card size as 116MB. When I try to install a file from the market larger than 116MB, it says not enough room. Why can't I see and use the full 32GB?
Any suggestions as to how I fix this would be appreciated.
Cool. So do you know how to get access to the 11 GB that is on there?
As far as I can see, the Nook automatically puts user input data, such as My Files into that area. When I got into My Files, it shows 120MB used, 1004MB remaining.

I know that the 1 GB area gets used, but how do we gain access to the nooks 11GB memory location?
If you open the settings, device info, you will see "B&N Content Storage Available (for items purchased from B&N.)" So B&N downloads only go there.
I used the nook in native mode to upload a book to B&N Books, but I don't remember how I did it. Trying too many things. These downloads are apparently the only ones that the nook's reader will remember you are reading to resume.
I am now using Root Explorer to look over the folder structure.
In folder \data\books, there is 11GB avail. I am not sure how to find any files moved there for reading however.
In folder \data\media\B&N downloads, there is 11GB avail. I am not sure how to find any files moved there for reading however.
In folder \media\... there is 1GB available. You can move files to \media\My Files and store them here. You can see these from the B&N Library if the My Files folder is used. This works from the reader.
But I have not found how to repeatedly use the 11GB space, yet. Will keep you posted. If anyone else figures it out, please post here.
Okay thanks. I am going to look into to it right now.
i had that same problem try this, Un-root, factory reset after first boot do not setup, do the factory reset again. then re-root. shut all the way off wait a few then reboot, should work
If your Micro SD card is showing less than the actual amount of memory e.g., my 32GB showed 116MB, hook the BN to your PC. When it shows in the explorer and SD Formatter on the PC, then use SD Formatter to check the size and verify the drive letter. If there is a large unallocated space on the SD Card, it needs to be re-formatted so the boot area is the whole disk.
After formatting, SD Formatter should show the whole size. Unplug it, and the nook should say it has detected a SD Card which needs formatting. Let the nook format the SD Card. The nook will see the SD card but any apps will say the card is not mounted.
So power down the nook and power backup. Then it will mount the card and it is fully useable. (At least this worked for me.)
It should not be necessary to factory reset the nook. However, this will loose any data, documents, music etc on the SD Card. So make sure you move them to the PC before reformatting the SD Card.

As far I can tell from googling, there is no way to access the 12GB B&N partition. I have see suggestions that a android partition manager can convert the 16GB from its present 1GB and 12GB to something like 5GB and 8GB so that you can put your stuff in the 5GB partition.
Notice that 1+12=13GB. So there is 3GB not showing, and does not show in Root Explorer either. It is probably a closed OS partition which would explain why it does not show up.
I just got my nook & had several issues getting it rooted finally 2nite I got it to load all the way & Now it is telling me I have no SD card to finish off loading Titanium Any ideas would be great! Happy new year to all
Also forgot 2 say I had tried 4 different sd cards. From 2GB - 32GB. All were empty, 2 were formatted. All 4 show up as being there even I can open them on the book. I am confused

[Q] Strange automated system restore from gingerbread vimicro 7''

Hello All,
I have a tablet here that I haven't been able to fix (yet!)
It's a mid vimicro vortex vc0882, armv7, grh55 with android 2.3 November 2011 firmware (resistive 7'') 512mb ram, 4 gb sandisk class 4 internal memory.
Although since getting this one, I now have several other much faster ones to choose from, I really like this tablet with it's chunky yet smooth navigation and so far no pc, laptop, netbook or tablet has beaten me!
Some time around early December 2012 this device experienced a system crash (freeze) that left several apps and games crashing on next boot.
This had happened once before. At which time I performed a simple factory reset from settings\privacy menu and all was well. Not the case after this more recent crash!
The device is stuck with all data as of the crash date. It will install and uninstall apps cleanly within the session, it will write to the internal sd card, yet next time the machine is started, everything is back as it was. The external sd card seems fine and unaffected (moving apps to this doesn't improve the situation, as in still not writing current configuration correctly).
ADB will push basic requests incl installation of apps, but that's as far as it goes. Any clockwork mod based tools don't help. Recovery menu has been tried with every combination. Any recovery / update from zip has been rejected due to e signature error. Tried flash tools and nothing has got through. Once the machine restarts, all is back to crash date groundhog day!
The machine is rooted (has been for most of it's life) and this didn't seem to create any problems.
I have contacted the suppliers for any firmware / recovery that they have, no joy there yet.
Sorry about the long post!
As I have root access does anyone have ideas about a system file workaround / mod or a forced clockwork mod to enable update from zip that bypasses the e-signature verification?
Permissions have been checked and system cleaned on a regular basis.
This tablet is very close to the wopad one just different buttons/button locations, with power/menu/home and back buttons.
Thanks for any positive input!
Bob
Update... Anyone out there?
After removing the internal sd card and exploring the fat 32 partition via windows, I deleted a few non essential local files (one or two of them I had to change the permissions to do so). Refreshed the disk (sd card) and the files were back. So it appears that there is an error in the sd card. Based on this idea, I tried to copy the fat 32 + full linux partitions with contents from the original 4gb sandisk to a 4gb kingston card. All appeared correct via linux type explorer software on windows, but it doesn't work for the device. Attached are the details from the partitioning software and another program that questioned the partitioning setup.
Any tips on the best software for the job + which key (possibly hidden elements) need to be included?
Thanks
Bob
3rd time lucky....
In summary, is it realistic to copy an android's internal micro sd card (system) to another blank card including correct formatting of partitions and get it to operate when inserting the copied / cloned internal memory card into the device?
A while back I asked a question regarding a different tablet, which fell on deaf ears, after a bit I sorted it myself.
Considering the nature of this forum, if this one goes "unsuggested" I will be somewhat disappointed.
With a touch of faith?

[Q] LG L80 Dual || SDCard Write Access || Anyone???

After I bought the device, first thing I liked to do was to make SD Card as the default location. But this device does not have this option. So, used adb to change the location from internal to external storage. But when I started installing apps, it was giving insufficient storage space, though I was having 300 MB in my internal storage & more than 5GB in external storage. Moreover, bluetooth file transfer was also not possible. In one sentence, access to SD Card is not permissible under any circumstances, in this devices.
After surfing, I came to know that KitKat has prevented SD Card write permission due to some issues. Same surfing has also told me how to do what.
1. Root the device - Did it from the post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732311.
2. To edit the platform.xml file, putting a string under an element of EXTERNAL_MEDIA_WRITE_ACCESS.
But none have worked. Unable to set SD Card as default location.
Does anyone can guide me, step-by-step, how get the write access in sd card from this device?
Thanks

[Completed] Softwinner v11/Astar y3 Broken Internal Storage

Hey everyone,
I bought an offbrand tablet from eBay, model name Softwinner v11 or Aystar y3 (build number says its an Astar y3, so does build.prop , "About tablet" under settings says its a Softwinner v11), running a Quad Core Allwinner A33 CPU and KitKat 4.4.2, already rooted with Kingo Root.
When I bought it, I was told it came with 16 GB of storage. As I started it up, I imediately checked the storage to check if those 16 gb where really there. On the storage screen, under settings, it showed up as having 2 internal storage, one with about 0.98 GB of space and another one with 14 GB of space. Almost the 16 GB, but that wasnt the issue.
The tablet was writing app data to the 0.98 GB internal storage, leaving me almost imediately without storage space for apps. The other 14 GB of space remained completely untouched. After further inspection, I found that the other 14GB were being used as an internal sd card, mounted at /mnt/sdcard.
Now here comes the real issue. I was messing around with it, and remenbered that I could partition my SD Card to work as internal memory. I had done this sucessfully before in my phone, so I gave it a go on the tablet, completely forgetting the fact that I had no MicroSD card on the tablet, only internal memory.
Stupid as I was, I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236566http://
After doing step 1, I realized my mistake. Storage was completely broken. In MiniTool, it was now split between 2 discs, one with a ~10Gb partition called "POLARIS", in fat32, and another with a 2GB partition, which is unallocated.
Now, under Settings - storage, I still have 2 internal storages, except the second storage is now only 428mb and completely inacessible from Windows. DiskInfo only shows System, Data, Cache and RAM, but no internal memory or SD Card.
ES File Manager shows 2 storages, one called "sdcard", with 428.06MB of space and another called "93_81" with 10.38GB of space.
In Windows, via MTP mode, the tablet shows up as v11. If I open it, there is an "Internal Storage", with 426 mb of space. Inside that is a folder called ".android_secure" and another called "93_81". Via USB Mass Storage nothing shows up.
Attempting to copy files over 428 mb to the root or to "93_81" results in a "file is too big" error.
Is there any way to fix this issue? If not, can I return it to how it was, with 1 GB + 14 GB of storage?

[Completed] system unmount edited

Hell everyone I'm not a tech but just an Android user with a broblem. OK, I own an ainol numy 3g Chinese version. It came with 1gb ROM, 4gb Ram storage space, I also install a 16 gb SD card in there. My problem is that, every thing I down load apps or data it goes to a 1 GB internal memory storage. And the 4gig storage is there untouched and the phone doesn't give you an option as to where to choos to store your data.
However the sd card was being recognised but the system was not automatically using it. I had to manually coppy data to it. All of a sudden the system unmounted the sdcard. It would no longer see the SD card.
So I decide to root the phone and install Root explore to check if I can detect the sauce of the problem.
First thing was I try to write to vold.fstab and Rexp reported that the system is not mounted. Same thing for the 4gig storage and the sd card. So I downloaded adb tool.
When I try to check for my system adb reported that the system is un available. Go back to root explorer it reported that my USB is not mounted. Can any one help me to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.
