Hello, I have to send my sensation to HTC for having some dust in the screen. For it, I have flashed a RUU, I have reverted from supercid to VODAP304, and s-on successfully, (or at least that says my bootloader)
My question is, if is there anyway to know if the process was ok, because when I try to install a OTA update of 28 mb, it says:
"We have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software. For your protection, we cannot update your phone. Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software to update your phone. If you did not modify the system software or would like help reverting your system, please contact us via the support section at www.htc.com."
Could somebody help me, please?
Thank you all.
You used the wrong RUU, as I said before
Which one did you use?

If the ruu is only 28 mB, it seemed you're installing an incremental ota. You need a full ruu (~400 mB) then the ota.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
No, the ruu I installed was about 400 mb, but if I look for ota updates, there's one of about 28mb but it gives me that error.

That's the point, they HAVE done an RUU but now can't do the OTA as it's probably the wrong RUU for the OPs CID

I used a German one, and I executed it twice. Executing the ruus was fine, 0 troubles.

But the RUU doesn't include your CID, hence the error

But there aren't any ruus for Vodafone Spain . Then?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
Possibly not, in which case you're stuck
Anda if I set Germanys cid, I will be able to download the OTA, but in HTC they will see that I changed it and I'll have no warranty?

Probably not but they'll know where the phone originally came from so well know it's not German

Updates come OTA (Over The Air) - you'll get an alert on the phone so you can download it
Or, you can use an RUU (ROM Upgrade Utility) but using one of these will completely wipe the phone so you'll have to set it up again from scratch
Updates are specific to your vendor code so just cause one user gets an upgrade you might not. For example, I have a Vodafone UK Sensation so I can only get updates for my vendor code (x.xx.161.x). An update for someone with an unbranded handset (vendor code x.xx.401.x) would not be applied to my phone

His right..update for someone with unbranded handset need to be root first, which we cant at the moment due to lock bootloader by HTC

Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA App
If the phone crashes and you need to reload the ROM then you need to use an RUU, depending if it's available. Finding the RUU for your phone is always recommended as it's backup in case the worst happens. I have mine (thanks to baadnewz). If you have a Sensation, go to Settings>About phone>Software information and post the software version and we can take a look
For reference, HTC's PC software is called 'HTC Sync' and you can get it from their website (or the SD card that comes with the phone)
EDDY thank you so much for your help...I am 1st time using HTC so asking lots of questions ..thanks again

Correct, an OTA update doesn't lose any data - it just updates the device
Good day
I got my new sensation 2 days ago i need to install new RUU on the device but i don't know where to start and what to do
plz i need help thxx
You can't flash an RUU that's different from you original version. It's been covered SO many times before it's not funny.
What RUU are you trying to flash and what ROM is currently on your phone?
im trying to install "RUU_Pyramid_HTC_ARA_1.34.415.1"
and idon't know what is the current RUU on my device
my problem is :
i want to add arabic support to my device , when i run the RUU it can't discover the device, my device is connects and set to USB disk drive
You can't do it. To find the version on your handset go to Settings>About phone>Software information
And it shouldn't be connected in Disk Drive mode to run an RUU - you set it to HTC Sync (and you need HTC Sync installed on your PC)
Android Version 2.3.3
Software number 1.35.720.1
Kernal 2.6.35.10-g9cef70d
and if i can't how can i install arabic support on device??
You can't, simple as that. You need to wait until we have root access to flash a new ROM which has Arabic support built into it. Might be weeks yet
as mentioned above, you just can't at the moment, for arabic webpages however you can download Firefox which renders arabic websites without a problem, I know that doesn't solve all the problems though, the facebook app for instance can't ready arabic unless it's supported natively by the rom, don't worry though, once HTC releases its S-off update all will be fine.

So it also won't be possible to flash the "RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1_Radio_10.43a.900 7.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198179_signed"
to a 1.34.206.1 (Europe) device, right? =(
or is there a possibility to do this?
Would be really nice to get that unbranded version to my phone cause I really dislike waiting weeks or longer for a new branded version every time a new software version is released.. :/
That's correct, you can't debrand until we have full root access
Not what I've wanted to read but thanks for the answer :')
I hope that will change soon

Hello. Yesterday I unrooted and s-on my sensation, because I have som dust in the screen. For it, I used germany's Vodafone RUU, due there isn't a RUU for Vodafone Spain (my country).
Some people from Spain told me that using that RUU from Germany was ok, but something confuses me: when I try to search for OTA's I get this message:
We have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software. For your protection, we cannot update your phone. Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software to update your phone. If you did not modify the system software or would like help reverting your system, please contact us via the support section at www.htc.com
So, I want to know if HTC will see this, or if they'll refuse to change my screen. I'd also like to know experience of others whose country hasn't got a leaked Vodafone RUU, and your experience.
Thank you all
Anyone?

so when you decided to leave stock rom and go custom.... didnt you make a nandroid backup like ALL the threads insist ? If you did you could restore it.
Or brick the device completely and say that a dodgy OTA upgrade caused it (no recommended)
EDIT: Wont a European RUU be good enough ? or a stock Spain RUU, It doesnt have to be carrier branded to re-validate warranty...Just stock

First of all, thanks for your answer. I didn't make a nandroid because the phone was bought already rooted from internet. I don't think so about the stock debranded ruu because they have the info that my phone was Vodafone branded and if they see a stock Rom they'll see I've manipulated the software.

I have a rooted phone, S-OFF and a custom ROM and now I cant use it with SIM-card so I am thinking if I can return it to warranty.
So wich step should I take? Is it enough to just flash a stock ROM and then it makes the phone as it was before? Or is the S-OFF still going to be there? And I have dropped my phone before so have cracked glass, but this problem has nothing to do with that, is it an warranty-issue you think regarding to that?
Have seen that there are more then one Stock European ROM, wich one should I take?
You should still s-on just in case, use this tutorial on how to get it s-on and remove everything till it's stock

thanks, going to try this when returning home!
Hmm, I have done everything in that movie but in the last sequence when updating the ROM, I got an error-message that it could not update the phone. Maybe I choosed the wrong ROM?
Its says (translated from swedish) "ROM-updatetools cannot update your phone, get the correct ROM-updatetool and try again"
RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed
That one I choosed, living in sweden..and having a HTC Desire S
To make sure, try other RUU first

well I think I have made a mistake now, now it only boots in fastboot or Hboot, so cant boot a ROM at all. When running the RUU I should be in the normal mode right? Or can I start it from fastboot?
Any RUU other than the failed one. I suggest you use euro ruu as you are going to return it for warranty. I dont know if other ruu will void warranty or not.
Just run RUU exe, i think it works on fastboot ( i forgot ).

Then use the correct RUU for the brand witch the phone is branded!
I'm new to this site, just registered. Sorry i'm a noob!! So I have had the Blue Tmobile One S since august but sold that one to my friend and bought a black one from a guy and said it's from solavei, So I try it and everything seems legit except It's running Android 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. So I go to menu>Software updates>check now to see if I can get the OTA they had in September but it says I am currently up to date. I checked my sotfware information and it said my software number was 1.84.1135.17 71ORD. I look online to see if I can some how download it and it told me that if I don't have these two other numbers and had something else then the warranty is void and I can't get updates. So My big question is how can I change my software number? Do I have to like root my phone? Then some how unroot it back to a different stock ROM? I'm open to suggestions and I would really like an answer thanks!!

If you're on 1.84 I would not update via OTA. You probably have a 1.06 or .09 hboot, which will be extremely nice for you.
I would suggest unlocking your bootloader via HTC and installing TrickDroid if you want stock. There arr several guides, including a all in one tool to help you with the process.

You can try typing *#*#CHECKIN#*#* into the dialer and then checking for updates.
Or you can find a T-Mobile US 2.35 RUU and running that. However it will be more difficult to flash ROMs once you have upgraded if you want to do that later on.

I tried that and all it did was say in my notifications "checkin succeeded" and nothing else happend.. so idk about that. I'm not really looking to root my phone, all I really want to do is have my phone run on the latest software and get OTA updates if possible. But if I need to root it, I will. And for the second thing, I'd have to root my phone to run the 2.35 right?

After "checkin succeeded" you should then check for updates in Settings, as I mentioned earlier.
You seem to be running an "ORD" build which is basically like a Beta test for the latest software. RD stands for Research & Development. The latest 2.35 RUU should work without rooting.
However that will upgrade your HBOOT and make it more difficult if you decide to root later on.
