Testers needed for new build.prop file! - Touch Cruise Android Development

ALWAYS make a databackup.img of your device BEFORE making changes to /system! I cannot stress this enough as any changes can cause ill effects and possible failures.
Please see the following post for details...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543991
If you have any problems, please report them to the original post.
This has NOT been tested or confirmed to work on any CDMA devices, which is why I need qualified testers to test it. If anything should go wrong, please restore your device using the databackup.img you made before testing this file.

[RDL] Sapphire Config files for rolling your own rom

Hi Guys
I have tried to put together my own config files for the sapphire, these go in the vendor/htc/sapphire directory after you have extracted the source
by no means are they perfect but i hope they will start some fresh development.
http://www.cminion.com/wordpress/2009/08/11/rolling-your-own-android-rom-for-htc-magic-sapphire/
If something doesnt work, or anyone manages to perfect them let me know so I can repost.
please let me know how you get on
Nice work!
Did you try this for a 32A or 32B board?
Looks interesting... anyone tried this for 32A since 32B don't have this issue in the first place?
I have a 32b and someone is testing it with 32a but we are having trouble compiling today its been fine in the past

Well keep us updated if you get anything working for 32A since all of 32A users are stuck with the htc kerel... if you need someone else to test you can pm =D
I've been trying my best at building a kernel for 32A, but no matter what I do it doesn't boot at all.
Does anyone know how you can debug a kernel the kernel's boot process at all? I just get hangs or reboots from any of the kernels I build and I've no idea what is missing or where it's going wrong. If it gave some sort of output then I might be able to figure out what I'm doing wrong! (adb logcat doesn't kick in until AFTER it's booted unfortunately)
How have the 32b users gone with this? Anyone managed to boot one?

Hey, just saw your post and I'm taking a look. So far it's OK, but I think you're missing (at least) the keypad files. Also, a little legal note (in case you didn't know), you aren't legally able to pack the qualcomm libraries on the proprietary/ folder. Not that I really care about it, but I thought you should know since maybe you're going against xda rules by posting copyrighted files -not sure anyway-. Maybe it's better if you leave the propietary folder empty (or just with the minimal stuff like the keymaps, audioparametters and .ini files) and let the extract-files script do the job for whoever uses it to compile. After all, if someone uses this, he already has the libraries on the phone
Anyway, I'm going to compile, if I see something else missing, I'll modify accordingly and send you the changes made, ok?
Regards!
PS: Nice work
EDIT: Okay, I did some little changes on the board file definitions, renamed the folder to sapphire-open (to match dream-open added the keymaps, and a kernel & wlan.ko I had laying around (it's still compiling so maybe the kernel doesn't start, but it still needs an hour or so to end the build, but so far, it's not failing). I have packed it, you can get it here: http://rapidshare.com/files/266633357/sapphire_config.tar
If I see something else I'll repost

[Release] [Kitchen] - SuperJustKitchen v0.9 - Engage!

SuperJustKitchen v0.9 Released.
Go to my site: http://justkitchen.info to get the updates and the info. It takes to long to update every device's forum that is supported, and I plan to support all devices, eventually.
Word of warning:
Not all EXT's have been tested or modified for the every device. Please test test and test and then let me know which packages don't work and what YOU've done to fix them. (I don't have time to fix ALL of them by myself.) Some packages will only be compatible with some devices.
(I'm no longer updating each thread separately for each device but just updating my site and posting the release info here. I will only update each thread to say that a new version is out.)
**Warning**
Before using this kitchen, you MUST read the whole thread. Any questions that have been answered will be ignored. This is your only warning.
**Disclaimer**
I am not responsible for any damage that may be done to your phone with a ROM created in this kitchen.
I am not responsible for any damage done to your computer.
I am not responsible for anything... at all.
Introducing SuperJustKitchen!
SuperJustKitchen is based on [http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=843218"]airxtreme[/URL]'s osKitchen Zero. All credit on for the kitchen backend goes to him.
Features
A completely stripped ROM. (Work in progress for some devices.)
LZX and XPR compression (Also option for No compression.)
Auto clean files that are language specific or DPI specific that your ROM does not need
Auto port missing language MUI files
Automatic rec'loc'ing for devices without native 6.5 nk's
6.1 and 6.5 support
Auto XIP and SYS porting
Auto NBH packing
Tool to convert OEM packages to EXT packages
Auto file conflict fix (don't have to removing older file that conflict (not that there are any. )

MUCH better organization of EXT packages
Active development instead of a program that is no longer being developed
Cleaner and easier to use interface
A built-in and customizable Tutorial section
And more!
Builds included
21056 - WM6.1
23658 - WM6.5 with new redesigned GUI

At the moment, this is an ENGLISH (WWE) only kitchen. This might change...
NOTE: In order for me to keep track of whether my time was well spent or wasted, if you use this kitchen to make a ROM, please either include SJK in the name or just mention that it was SJK cooked in your ROM's thread.
NOTE: This kitchen assumes that you know how to flash through SD, recover from a bad flash and are able to backtrack your steps to figure out how you broke your own ROM. If you do not understand these, please learn them first. Do not PM me asking me. I have written numerous walkthroughs on all these except on how to backtrack your steps. For that, just remember what you're doing as you do it and keep backups.
If you find any issues, PLEASE report them to the bug tracker in my website. It will help me make this kitchen better!
ENJOY!!!

Are you HardSPL'd? If so, do you have the file size limit removed? Also, don't include most of the packages. Your device only has so much space. You're not supposed to include that many programs.

It shows that you are registered twice and are activated on both accounts.
I do not have the ability to see passwords. IM me one of the usernames and passwords that you used so I can troubleshoot.
As far as the ROM goes:
If you have an elf, that file size is massive. Remember that the limit only removes the lower limit of a 50mb requirement. The elf doesn't have much space. Do not enable so many things. If you must have all those things, at least enable LZX compression and EXT-UPX compression.

even friend of mine from opal have same problem..
dont know y this happen?
wait for the owners.
Looks like there is a corruption somewhere in the kitchen. It is affecting every device. I think it has to do with the executable I changed last minute before updating the kitchen. I'll check myself on my computer.
any update yet?
I've been home sick with the flu so I haven't even touched my computer since. I will let you know more tomorrow. I should get some time to work on it, then.

Thanks guys.
Do me a favor.
Go to your sources folder and delete the "_Compress" folder then try to cook and flash a ROM. If it works, then that was the problem all along... he moved the folder to another location but the kitchen still reads both.)

[Scripts] Update.zip maker, Backup/restore tool

Here are my two scripts that I have been working on.
1. Update.zip maker (Windows/Linux):
Get it here.
Usage is described in the comments at the bottom of the page.
Attached are the update scripts needed.
2. Backuptool (Windows):
Get it here.
Usage is at the bottom again. This has only been tested on a GSM HTC Hero so far.
This script is commented.
Please feel free to fork any of these. Please report any bugs you find here and I will try to fix them.
Thanks to daentech, AColWill, Tjh and pulser(_g2) for testing and helping write the scripts
Also, any ideas for a new script?

Update: i try to port it yesterday with phablet-10.1 the old source and here the following steps.
1-compilation work fine without any errors.
2-got a flashable zip of 32mb (i don't know what should be).
3-flashed with TWRP recovery.
4-install saucy phablet zip, done without problem.
5-boot is ok, but i got a black screen then i heard the original animation of samsung, then phone got to be hot, thats mean is system is start up but without video card to display it, so what should i do i try to edit recovery.fstab for partitions but same issue appear.
Once fix that errors maybe we can port it .
I've no skills in what you doing so perhaps that i can help you with copying this thread a d asking some devs to help
Some may interested, and i really want something different run on my s2vep, if you want me to do some test let me know

[ROM][8.0][STABLE][J600XX]NcX S8+ Port

NcX S8+ PortSo I'm finally sharing this ROM lol.
A lot of the people that are in my Telegram group already knew about this ROM from long ago. I just felt lazy to upload it to xda. And now I feel bad about it xD
Because if I do say so myself, it is my best work.
Yes, it's still Oreo. Right now, porting Pie to Pie seems to be difficult-impossible due to some deodexing stuff and such, son don't expect me to try to port anything related to Pie (specially because I am not a huge fan over OneUI. I'd take Samsung Experience's looks over it any day
Well, with that said. Here is what you can expect from this ROM
Code:
Your warranty is now void.

FAQ
[Q] My phone is stuck in bootloop/infinite boot, what should I do?
[A] It is normal for first instalation to take aprox 10-20 minutes on first boot, let it sit for a little bit
[Q] Even after 20 minutes, my phone is still in a bootloop/infinite boot, what can I do?
[A] It is possible that your previoius Android setup is conflicting with this new setup. Please, do the following:
1. FORMAT DATA (not WIPE, FORMAT!)
2. Try the instalation of NcX again
[Q] My phone will still not boot, what is my last resort?
[A] Please do the following:
Re-install NcX
After installation finishes, select "Save Logs"
It will save a .txt file in your memory, please post so I can review your problem
[Q] I've found a bug, what should I do
[A] Please read the "Bugs" section of the thread to see if your bug has been reported, if it hasn't, please let me know exactly what the problem is so I can take a look
[Q] My phone isn't rooted, even though I selected a root method
[A] Please make sure you root via Magisk. SuperSU is only there for testing and did not work.
[Q] The phone is going way too slow!
[A] Caused by Magisk. Just reboot the phone 2 or 3 times and the lag will be gone forever.
[Q] Something bothers me and I want it fixed/changed
[A] Please, kindly make a request and if it's within my grasp, I'll try to fix it. Just, don't be rude and demand something. Either that or return to stock, your choice

How to report a bug/Ask for a change
Over the small amount of time I've been doing my edits and shared them with the community, I've noticed something that seems to irritate me. I can't speak for all the developers on this forum, but I do edits/ROMs/PORTs/etc... to what I like. I don't work for anybody else but me. I share my work because it may have something of value to other people and/or some people may share the same taste as me on regards to what they want on a ROM.
That being said, that doesn't mean I will completely ignore what the community has to say.
First and foremost, it must be said, I am merely a beginner. I do not claim to be a professional developer that knows how to add everything, I am nowhere close and I learn as I go.
There are ways to ask for something and/or report a bug when it comes to ROMs, and this post is my attempt to try to explain how to (and how not to) report a bug in order to help me out as much as possible to try to fix something
You can also ask for something to be added, but there are also ways to ask for something
So, here we go
Keep in mind:
I do not add stuff that can easily be downloaded from the Playstore
I, myself, don't do kernel edits
I COULD remove stuff if NOBODY uses it
---REPORTING BUGS---
How NOT to report a bug:
"SystemUI (or any app)is crashing, please help!"
"Instagram doesn't allow me to edit my post, what could be wrong?"
"My bank account app is not letting me do such thing"
These posts are sort of pointless as they only state something but I have no context on what could be causing it. Also, I can't really control (for the most part) third-party apps, so if you're going to ask about them this way, don't even bother
A slightly better way to report a bug:
"I clean installed the ROM and was working fine, after I installed Facebook and logged in, I immediately uploaded a photo and SystemUI started to crash. Can you look in to it?"
"I tried to install Black Neon theme (a link to it would work as well) and it was working fine until I tried to activate AOD (or anything else for some reason) and SystemUI (or any other app) is crashing, could you look in to it?"
"My bank account app doesn't let me take a screenshot of my accounts. I get a toast notification saying "Can't take screenshot due to security policy"
As you can see, this provides a bit more context and explanation on your current situation. This gives me a little more detail on trying to replicate the problem and hopefully could fix it by replicating it. Well, except for point #3 which is out of my hands for the most part (I think). If you include what kernel you're using would make everything better! Also any significant change that would require root (like xposed and or anything that modifies /system also needs to be informed for better results)
The BEST way to report a bug:
LOGCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please learn the ins and outs of a logcat, this really helps a lot on finding what the problem is. Also, please give a brief explanation as the above examples when providing a log cat
---ASKING FOR STUFF TO BE ADDED---
How NOT to ask for stuff:
On your next update, add iris scanner
You should add (app) on your next update
Hey, please add (app or feature) on your next update
No, I do not work for you. Even if you say please like the third example, that doesn't mean you're being polite. It still sounds like an order lol so you should probably rephrase your request.
How to ask for stuff to be added to my work:
Would you be so kind to add (feature) to your ROM, if possible?
Would it be possible to add this app to your ROM?
Please, can you add (feature) to your ROM, if it isn't much to ask?
See how politeness makes everything better? You're not demanding it, you're just politely asking to see if maybe it is within my grasp to add something. And if all request would be like this, I can assure you I'd try my best to add said feature
I hope this is useful to you or I at least hope that some people read it.
If not, I can just tell you to return to stock ROM, probably better than any ROM I put out anyway
Enjoy

Enable Secure Folder on NcX S8+
Hi guys, just here with a quick update.
For those unaware, there was a pretty cool breakthrough when it came to finally enabling Secure Folder on rooted software (Pie) in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/secure-folder-patch-custom-rom-t3949878
(Would appreciate it if you visit and give thanks)
Now since then, I really wanted to fix it on Oreo but the methods were vastly different.
Thankfully, @khongloi113 helped me step by step to try and fix it for Oreo.
And that's exactly what he did, he fixed it for Oreo too
So, for those who want to enable Secure Folder on this ROM, flash the zip attached
For now, the fix is only available for this Oreo ROM, since there are some methods that khongloi113 changed that I have not been able to pin point.
Oh and, if it doesn't work for you, all you have to do is go to the Galaxy Store and update Secure Folder through there. Then it should work fine.
Enjoy!
