What ROM and browser are you using?

That could be due to your connection to your wifi or your mobile data not being able to process the data quick enough try to watch it through the YouTube app and see if it works

I was watching youtube videos on wifi through the youtube app on high quality then all of a sudden the high quality version will only load with sound, the video will freeze on the first frame. But the low quality plays fine. Then I tried restarting, but that didn't work. Now my videos on my phone won't play either. Help please?

Buy an iPhone.
GNote Paranoid JB 1.991 insanity kernel..darkside
because Note's level of Awesomeness requires it to take more bandwidth

maybe you need to check the settings (for preloading) option

The youtube app on the 3gs has a different standard videoquality. 240p vs 320p I think.

I'm sure this has been asked before but if I remember right I didn't like the answer. Inspire, rooted with cm7 - I typically cannot view videos. Most streams ie. sports or whatever will not play. Sometimes I get audio but no video. YouTube vids will only play from their site. The first is far more important. I use standard browser. Didn't care for dolphin and that didn't help anyway. Thanks in advance.

I believe Dolphin is just eye candy for the standard browser. You could try Firefox.

I've tried all but Firefox. I'm wondering if it is a glitch with cm7. Can't remember if I had this problem pre-root.

Have you tried maxthon browser?

Tried Firefox and it seemed to work. Still would like to know why there are issues. Thanks.

About a month ago I recall seeing a couple of videos in hd quality which now are not anymore.
Since hd is such a wonder for the eyes, does anyone know how to get them back?

Are you on a custom Rom or something? I've always had it. Should be in bottom left corner in landscape mode

I'm on stock 4.0.4 rom for ville c2
I could see them too but for some reason YouTube stopped playing hd videos, I don't know why and I want them back

On mine only has been displaying hq for two weeks now in videos which were hd
This is sad

The youtube app on our devices doesn't play back true HD, only HQ, big difference. Proper HD is only available on phones with a 720p screen.
If you are rooted, you can do this to get the proper HD app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715
Or you can use dolphin to browse the youtube site and play 1080/720p via it or copy the url of the video into Bs player.
I have just restored my phone to stock rom, u don't think I'll be enduring the long hard rooting process again for a long long time, thanks anyway
Anyway I tried playing videos on dolphin but it seems it doesn't work
And on the end I definitely remember to have hd written in bottom left corner, and it was real hd not hq as it is now that is really horrible to see.

I've been watching some YouTube on NY nexus 5 and I've been watching it on HD and it always seems to buffer and my nexus 4 never did that, I might understand if it is 1080p, is it?

Can't be 100% sure but it seems to be for me.

Pretty sure YouTube only streams to phones in 720p and only modified YouTube apps can allow 1080p playback.

Yeah there's a thread with a modified YouTube app in the Android Development section of the forums. Only thing about it is that it's the old YouTube app, not this new one.

buffering issues have very little to do with bandwidth. I get around 70mbits download and I still get hit with buffer. There are some issues with the way youtube handles traffic. I have heard of solutions involving blocking certain ip/ports and also clearing your cache uninstalling and re-installing the youtube app. It's pretty lame
This is how I noticed that my WiFi connection was always slowing to a crawl. Toggling WiFi off/on returns speeds to normal.
