[Q] Help! Screen not loading! - Motorola Atrix 2

Hi guys,
I've just recently acquired an atrix 2, and soon after i rooted installed GO Launcher, but still running stock ROM. This morning i switched back to the stock homescreen, then i was using titanium backup to freeze Go Launcher, then the screen suddenly went blank.
It still shows the top status bar and i can pull down the notifications window, but nothing else. Whatever app i launch from recent, it still remains blank.
How do i fix this?? Any help at all is appreciated
EDIT 1: I think its still trying to run Go Launcher coz i can auto-rotate the home screen, which stock home screen cant. I already froze 3 or so widgets so thats why its crashing but how do i fix this?
EDIT 2: Think theres abit more to this. When i try emergency calling at the pattern unlock page, it wont go to the keypad. Is it possible to flash the phone with stock ROM? I had the usb mode selected to charge-only when i rooted the phone, and now i cant change it.

Delete Go Launcher off of your phone. Unfreeze it.
You might want to download home switcher, it's an app that makes it easier to switch back and forth.
As far as flashing your phone to 2.3.5 that's possible.
Here's how to do it. (Taken from the Noob thread)
STEPS:
1) Have the correct Motorola drivers installed for your PC (i.e. x32-bit or x64-bit).
Here is the Motorola Driver site
http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/...D&pubid=987654
2) Download RSD Lite & install on your PC.
Here is the latest version to download (RSD Lite 5.6)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...7&d=1321414457
3) Choose the FXZ file to download
Android 2.3.5 ---- Blur_Version.55.11.16.MB865.ATT.en.US
InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID28 5.zip
http://www.fileserve.com/file/erjAuT...PBP_CID285.zip
or
www.multiupload.com/W3UH3W5LU0
4) Make sure you alternatively boot into AP Fastboot mode by powering down (or pulling battery), then press and hold the volume up and down button while powering on.
5) Plug your phone into a back USB port on your computer.
Front USB ports are often unreliable when it comes to power levels. They should not be used for flashing.
6)Run “RSD Lite” on your computer
7)Press the “. . .” button next to the box labeled “Filename”
8)Browse and open the FXZ file or just just drag the FXZ file onto the file path bar in RSD Lite
9)Wait for the program to read the file, then choose “START”
10) Now, the device will slowly flash the FXZ file. BE PATIENT AS THIS MAY TAKE A WHILE!
11) Congratulations! You’ve restored your ATRIX 2!!

I cant actually see anything on the screen apart from the status bar at the top, and the notifications bar when i pull it down I already had home switcher on the phone, i had just switched to stock launcher and tried to freeze GO Launcher.
So how do i delete/Unfreeze it then? isnt there some PC file manager or something to access the apps on the phone and delete them by USB cable?
Also, If i flashed 2.3.5 on it, i would loose everything on it right?

I actually did the same thing yesterday. I deleted my home launcher the default MOTOBLUR one and my phone did the same thing.
The way to fix it is to flash your phone. Its really not that hard. I can guide you through the steps with more clarification if you need me to.
The computer program to which you are referring is called adb. Android Debugging Bridge. It allows you to push and pull files, set device permissions etc. The problem is that I struggle with how to use it as its a command prompt type setup.
Yes, it will erase everything. Completely. But...its super easy. So its up to you.

What if you just download blurhome2.apk and try to push it to your system via adb? That should, in theory, bring your launcher back.

[How To] Install The New GOT Update On Milestone

Hello My Friends I've Heard You Are Having Troubler Installing The New Upgrade Or Understanding What Is Needed To Be Done.
Note: THIS IS A WINDOWS BASED HOW TO AND WILL WORK ON WINDOWS ONLY
Before I Start I must Say, This Is a combination of process and I have not created any of those files or own the right to them so all the links are the same links found on other posts from where i got the info, so by downloading those files you are, supporting them not me i take no credit for this work
Well Here Is the quick Easy Guide In How To Do This
-Fist we Need To Get The Tools To Perform This Operation
pulled From This Tread we need
1. Motorola Drivers For Either 32 or 64 Bits
2. RSD Lite, witch is a tool for flashing your phone.
3. The GOT Open Recovery ToolUpdate: Added Latest version from G.O.T.'S Blog
4.The Firmware Files From Got
2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES

EDIT: G.O.T. Has Added the burnerable open recovery to these sfb files so no need to flash it latter
-Now That We Have The Stuff We Need We are going to do it, fist i must say that unlike other roms that are applied by a backup restore (corect me if im whrong) this is a full flash and its going to reset everything so no apps will remain no setting will remain and is highly recommended that you uninstall every app you have, don't back them up(except for apps some apps that have a create backup file, those seem to work) just uninstall them, and when we are done have them installed again, Here Is A Tool That Will Help You Get There Faster
1.ok you have everything uninstalled right? now time for some action
2.install the proper divers (32 or 64)
3.install the RSD Lite tool
4.unzip the 2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES you downloaded and you will find a ".sbf" file
5.now connect your phone to USB cable and turn it off
6.boot it in boot-loader mode (press the D-PAD UP key while pressing the power button), some night need you to release the button after a minute, a black screen will be shown on your phone and you will see the divers being installed on your computer.
7.when drivers are done open the RSD Lite tool and your device should appear you can click on it to see details.
8.now click on the "..." buttons that are close to the start button and look for the ".sbf" file, after a couple of seconds it should be ready to start
9.press the start button and do not unplug the cable or let your computer show the screen saver or go to sleep, the posses must not be stopped while it has started .
10.when the posses is done the devise will restart and voala, you have 2.2
-As GOT stands there are some bugs on the firmware and they have developed a fix to them and get root and overclock, here is what you have to do.
1. unzip the got open recovery tool into the root of your SD card
2.check this quote
NOTE: On some devices, we have encountered that rooting directly after flashing without rebooting after the initial flash can bring some issues with RootExplorer not asking for root permissions. To be safe, reboot after flash so that the “welcome to milestone” menu comes up, set up the device in general, then reboot to recovery and root the device as well as apply our 2.2.1 tweaks with Launcher, Services.jar fix and Wireless Tethering app.
Click to collapse
this means if the fist time your milestone got restarted and you saw "Welcome to Milestone" Message You are good an you can root.
but if you didn't then restart you phone and see if the message comes out, if not , a factory reset should have that scree message shown.
3. open the open recovery by pressing camera and power button at the same time while the device id off. you should see a scree with a "!" symbol on it then press fist volume rocker up button a leave it pressed then press camera button, some letter will pop out.
4. using the pad scroll down to "apply update.zip", after a couple of seconds the GOT menu should pop out (everything from now on uses the pad)
5.root your phone (why not)
6.go down to "Launch 2.2.1 Menu" Option.
7.Here you will see the "Fix Bugs They Are Talking About
One of the first things you should do is use the “Fix 2.2.1 bugs” selection in the new OR 2.2.1 menu after you flash the sbf file.
This tweak will fix some of the issues with the generic sbf build such as dual USB notifications, replacing some stock Motorola applications such as the old launcher/mediagallery and adding the Wireless Tethering application.
Click to collapse
8. there is the overclock too.
Now your device should have all the things you need to start playing with it,I encourage you to check on some tweaks the GOT team might have, and you might want.
I Hope This Was Helpful enjoy ^_^

Thank for this tutorial.
My milestone works fine so far, but 3g mobile hotspot and wireless tether not working.
Flash on milestone is so cool
something i don't get
I updated the firmware with RSD Lite, and used the one click tool, because:
whenever i try to hit update.zip i will get an errormessage, stating that these blocks couldn't be found -> ergo, the card not be mounted.
The HTC stuff i always managed, but this one is a mistery to me. Also, i did format fat32, pushed the stuff and then straight on bootup trying to hit the update.zip, without success.
I've read about how other people solved that problem, none of those approaches helped me.
Any hint is more than welcome.
2 bugs i've discovered so far: Battery drain like almost to be declared useless, some market apps "vanish" after installing them. I suppose those fixes would have done the job. I might attempt to use root explorer and execute the scripts like that, still I'd like to know why I'm unable to get the update.zip, resp. the G.O.T or any other "intelligent" boot menu installed.
Edit2: Even when installing the vulnerable sbf, i still get the error: E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 ....

have you tried re downloading the files and doing all over again?, it could be a broken file
thats why i tell devs and chefs they should add an MD5 sum to their files larger than 20MB some errors are caused by just having downloaded broken files
Root phone from the GOT OR menu doesn't seem to actually root my phone (2.2.1 UK version)
Superuser whitelist app FCs instead of prompting to allow access. Have tried using Better Terminal for root access & also Wireless Tether app.
Anyone else getting this? Any ideas? Do any of the 1-click root apps still work with this build of Froyo? Which can we use?

i can confirm this. Simply trying it a second time worked for me
I'd like to add something for Linux users:
Using a virtual machine (virtualizing WinXP) that has USB support (eg Oracle VM VirtuaBox, since VirtualBox OSE does not support USB forwarding) can do this pretty easy. So no worries when trying this via a VM.
i try to instal GOT and its succesfull.
but why i install the application not bring to SD card

[Q] 3 Big Problems

Hey, I have 3 problems that are sorta big.
Specs:
Motorola Droid.
Rooted
ROM: ChevyNo1 - Simply Stunning 5.00
Version 2.3.2
I don't know where I am going wrong. I am trying to use Android Commander, Droid Explorer and, APK Edit
None of them work, and the problem I think is all not detecting my device. This is what I have done:
1) Enabled Debugging on Phone
2) Installed Java/SDK Manager
3) Installed Moto Drivers (and updated)
4) Connected phone via USB Cable (Of Course)
5) Restarted Phone
6) Restarted Computer
And still won't find my phone, I think that's all I did, I just want to be able to change my icons. Safely
Which leads me to my next problem, I thought 4 hours ago, that all I had to do to change an icon, was copy the apk zip file to the sd card, change it in photoshop, then copy and paste over the old apk file/zip. So I did that.. with my browser app... I read that the problem is probably a signature not written, is that it? I'm thankful I only did that to my browser app, but is there any way i can restore my browser app? It won't run: "Could not launch the requested activity."
And 3rd, When ever my phone boots up, the Motorolla boot logo loops. Then If I hold down the power button till the Boot animation comes on (which is not the red eye, but was changed by default on my rom) and then the boot animation even loops twice then works "normally") How do I fix this?
Plus, I am looking for suggestions for a really good rom, free or not (through Rom Manager since that is the only way I have done it (I got root through SuperOneClick or something like that) because I have been flashing one after another until I did a hard reset and just settled with what I have now.

Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate: How to Root it.

ALL:
It has been a long time since I posted to this thread. Back then, the Samsung Exhilarate had just come out, and there was no way to root it. Thanks to several other members, most notably j3r3goss and shabbypenguin, I was able to get root on this phone. As of now, this post is very old. The instructions here, are not needed for you to root your Samsung Exhilarate anymore. You are free to read through them, but you should pay attention to the last page (currently page 3). There, j3r3goss posted a link to the the TWRP or CWM recovery files, that you can now use to get root, without following the step-by-step instructions I posted below. I'm leaving the thread up, but for all intents and purposes, consider it closed.
Here's the link to the section you need in order to root your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=32520094
It has been fun, and I've been using my Exhilarate for nearly two years. Because I've been extremely busy, I haven't had time to keep up with the latest changes - but others have. I hope that you found these instructions useful.
In any case, take care and ROOT ON!
Everything past this point is old and no longer applicable
==========================================
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have UPDATED your phone to ICS, and want to root it, these instructions will work. You will not need to do the last part where you need to update the firmware keys!
Do you plan to update your phone from Gingerbread (Android 2.3) to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). Do that first! Otherwise, you'll just have to root again (not that that's a problem, but why???)
I) How to update to ICS:
1) Download Samsung Kies from here: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ if you haven't already, and install it, and then run it
2) Put your phone into ODIN (Download mode - see section II below).
3) When Kies detects you phone (your computer will need to install drivers, and then Kies will say it's connecting to your phone, and it will take about 3-4 minutes and finally connect to it), it should let you know that there is an update. Just follow the instructions on Kies and be patient. The phone will update, and once it reboots into normal mode, you'll know it's updated by going to "Settings" and if they are grouped into different sections, then you have ICS. Otherwise, you probably still have GB.
II) How to enter ODIN Mode:
For the Exhilarate I've found it's best to use this sequence:
1) Power phone down
2) Plug the USB cable into your computer (do not plug the phone into the USB cable yet).
3) While pushing and holding both the vol up and vol down buttons, plug the phone into the computer. As soon as you see "SAMSUNG" flash and then dissappear, release the buttons.
4) Phone should boot into ODIN mode.
III) How to Root
What you need:
1) Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate phone (unrooted)
2) microSD Card (any size of 1GB or larger will work)
3) USB cable to connect your phone to your computer
4) Files below
First, download all the files...
1) Download the latest version of ODIN here: ODIN.
2) Download the drivers here: Samsung Galaxy Drivers and run the setup program after unzipping.
3) Download the tar file here: www.Shabbypenguin.com/OUDstuff/Blaze4G/Clockworkmod-Blaze-4G.tar Don't mess with it, just download it somewhere where you can find it later
4) Download SuperUser here: SuperUser Save it somewhere where you can find it later.
Second, conduct the root:
1) Put your phone into Odin (Download mode - see Section II above).
2) With phone in ODIN mode, run Odin.1.85.exe (it's in the folder where you unzipped ODIN too).
3) Odin will launch on your computer. It should show, in the first box under ID:COM, a port in yellow. Mine was Port 5. This means you have successfully connected to your phone.
4) Click the button in ODIN labeled "PDA", and then browse to the .tar file you downloaded above and then select "Open". The file will show up next to the PDA button.
5) Make sure that "Re-Partition" is NOT checked!;
6) Click "Start" and wait till your phone reboots. It should reboot into normal mode. If it doesn't, just power down and reboot into normal mode.
7) Copy the SuperUser.zip file you downloaded above to your phones microSD card.
8) Reboot the phone into recovery mode: While pushing and holding both the vol up and vol down buttons, push the power button. As soon as you see "SAMSUNG" flash, release the buttons. You shouldn't need to have the phone connected to the computer this time. The phone will boot into CWM recovery.
9) using either: the "menu" button to move down and the "home" button to move your selection up; or alternately the volume down button to move down, and the volume up button to move up: highlight "install zip from sdcard". Use the "search" button or power button to select/enter.
10) highlight "choose zip from sdcard" and press the "seach" button to select it.
11) browse to the directory which you copied SuperUser to and select it.
12) scroll down to "Yes - Install Superuser" and select it.
13) Once done, reboot your phone into normal operating mode.
14) If rooting Gingerbread, see Section IV below.
15) If rooting either Gingerbread or ICS, see section V below.
16) If having issues with Root, see section VI below.
IV) Rooting Gingerbread?:
Last: Finish up (Steps 1-4 are ONLY needed if you are still using GingerBread and not Ice Cream Sandwich):
NOTE: Your buttons (the four at the bottom) WILL NOT work at this point. You need to do the following:
======
1) Push your phone dialer as if you were going to make a call.
2) Dial *#*#2663#*#*.
3) You will see the attached thumbnail below on your phone (stolen from j3r3goss).
4) press the bottom button that says "Touch key FW update". Wait. Once it's finished, your bottom row of buttons will work again!
Note: If you are on GB, and not ICS, every time you boot into recovery and then back into operational mode, you will need to do the four steps in this section above!
======
V) Using either GB or ICS:
You do need to do these last steps (I believe):
5) ADDENDUM/UPDATE: At this point, there is one last thing you need to do!: You must go to "Settings/Applications/Development" and Enable USB Debugging! If you don't do this, you will NOT be able to get root access! Also, if for any reason you turn off USB Debugging, make sure you turn it back on! If you lose root access, check this FIRST! If you still can't get root access, boot into recovery mode and wipe the Dalvik Cache, the regular Cache, and "Fix Permissions". Then double check to make sure USB Debugging is ENABLED!
6) You're done! Your phone is now rooted and you can do whatever you want! :highfive:
VI) TROUBLESHOOTING:
If you run into problems
1) Check to make sure that SuperUser is installed on your phone. Check the apps section first, and then, use RootExplorer and check the System/bin folder. If you see SuperUser is in the system/bin folder, then you are very close to being rooted.
If it is not installed:
a) make sure that you copied the superuser.zip file to the EXTERNAL sdcard.
i) Boot the phone up normally
ii) plug the phone into your computer, pull the notification bar down, select USB connection, and tap the "Connect USB storage" button.
iii) Using Winbloze explorer, copy the SuperUser.zip to the external sdCard (on my computer, it is drive F:, and the Internal is drive G.
iv) disconnect once the copy is finished and use any file explorer on your phone to check the contents of the external sdCard (look in the "sdcard/external_sd" folder)
v) if it's not there, then you are doing something wrong. If it is there, shut down the phone, and boot into CWM recovery.
vi) Use CWM recovery to install the superuser.zip file on your phone.
vii) reboot into normal mode
viii) check to make sure that you have enabled USB Debugging
viii) check again to see if SuperUser is now in your apps, and in the system/bin folder.
ix) Run SuperUser 1x, and then close it out.
x) Run ANY app that requires Root Permissions. You should get a request from SuperUser to "Allow" or "Deny" the app root access. Make sure you allow root access. If you make a mistake, you'll need to launch superuser again and completely remove the app from the denied list.
2) Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
3) if you still can't get root, boot into CWM Recovery, and try clearing the cache and the Dalvik cache, and resetting permissions, then reboot and check everything again. You may need to do this last step several times.
Beyond that, I don't know what else might be causing you to not gain root access, so keep trying.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.
V/R
BlackWolf
Thanks for the write-up Black-wolf.
I wasn't aware that the touch key fw needed to be updated each time after booting recovery, hopefully that is something that will be fixed when Shabbypenguin gets his hands on the stock recovery.
Personally I find the easiest, works every time method to get into Download mode is to have the usb cable plugged into the pc, then while holding the volume up/down buttons, plug the cable into the phone, continue holding vol up/down buttons until download mode boots.

Yeah, I figured that out when I went to boot recovery to check something, and then came out of it and the keys weren't working again... :/ At least there's a work around. I suspect, that this is something that an automated app could handle if Shabby or someone else doesn't come up with a permanent fix.

Links are all working now. There was only one broken one that I'm aware of. Let me know if there are others.

Any update on getting the stock recovery? I blew through rooting my Exhilarate before I noticed the request for help or I would have offered.
The root seems to be working OK for me. JuiceDefender is working great with it to throttle the CPU clock speeds and has really improved my battery life. Also worked OK in blocking all the bloatware apps with the Gemini App Manager. So I don't really have a reason to unroot and go back to stock firmware, but it would be nice to have the option available should I ever hit a problem.
Thanks for all you guys hard work!

Dream_Killer: No, we have not gotten a stock recovery. I've had several inquiries into it, but so far as I know, Shabby has not been able to help out in this regard. I am willing to try myself, but I'll need an un-rooted (and it must never have been rooted) phone.

To get into stock recovery you...
1. open a command terminal on your computer.
2. type cd (where ever you have your ADB located on your computer) for example my is located in desktop/platform-tools so the command would be "cd desktop/platform-tools"
3. type "adb"
4. type "adb reboot recovery"
Presto you are in stock recovery.

We know how to boot into the stock recovery. What we need is to pull the stock recovery image off of the phone so that we can restore the phone to stock.
Btw.. pressing both volume keys while turning on the phone will get you there also.
I rooted the exhilarate. Loaded the t mobile blaze cm7 rom. And all works like a charm. The only thing is you can't make a call. You can,you just can't hear. I called my other phone and it went through. The speaker doesn't work. Mms and all works. Just not the speaker...... why? This wud. Be a awsome rom for this phone.. think we can find a fix?

I'm not exactly sure but it might be just as simple as replacing the audio libs on the blaze rom with the ones from the exhilarate. I'm not sure which files though.
I'm curious if by coming together (blaze and exhilarate users) if there would be enough interest to get official cm support. if the only major diff is audio they could basically support 2 devices for the price of one.

If i knew/or had the kno how, shoot id do it. Is there a program u need to change the libs?. This is a pretty sweet device.
i think you just need root explorer, and copy the new ones over the old ones. I'll look to see if i can find out which files need swapped. Should be able to make a zip to flash through CWM recovery.

NFC for Exhilarate!
All: rodracruz found a thread for enabling NFC on AT&T phones. Apparently, the Samsung Exhilarate does have NFC - but why the hell AT&T has it disabled, I have not idea... In any case, check out this thread and follow the instructions to enable it on your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545751
There are even links as to some of the things you can do with NFC.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have anything to do with the audio lib files. More so most likely a kernel, modem, or APN problem.
Edit: not to mention the build.prop is completely written for the blaze. I'm working on some things. I'll let you guys know tonight. I wish there was source for this damn phone.

[Q] Bad rooting of android phone?

Hi
I rooted my phone today. Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570.
It went quite well. I deleted all the bloatware that I didn't want etc.
After all that was gone I starting disabling things that I thought was extra. At one point the phone switched off and didn't come on again. I rebooted it and when it did come back on the only things I can access now are the notification panel at the top of my page, my volume control and the power key. The screen has gone black. I cant use anything else now. Its obvious I've disabled the home screen or something.
What can I do, if anything?
Really appreciate any help. Thank you.

You have removed the "homescreen" (Launcher)
Do you have usb debugging enabled?
If so then you can move a launcher apk to /data/app
(if you need a launcher apk and instructions to do this then ask me )
if not then go find a cwm launcher installer (if you have recovery installed)
and flash that.
It will give you a launcher to work with.
If you need help with modding or removing apps, etc.
Then you can pm me so we don't spam this thread.
Use Samsung PC suite it will fix all the errors in your phone then root it again.

An apk is an application package for android.
The homescreen is the app that is run when you unlock the screen. (It is also known as the launcher)
You will need the drivers for your phone.
Which you can obtain from your manufacturers website. (Example: Samsung mesmerize > Support > downloads > driver.msi)
I have attached a zip file that needs to be extracted. (I put it together just for you )
Once extracted you must go inside the extracted folder and double click the start file.
Follow the instructions from there.
You will not need to connect wirelessly so just press enter.
It does almost all the work for you.
It's not a flash zip.
Its a script.
Go herehttp://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/GT-S5570EGAMET-downloads
Then install the kies from software tab
run that and plug your phone in with usb.
Then let it detect it and install whatever is necessary.
Make sure it has a connection then try my tool.
My tool is a Windows script.
For Windows.
Not Android.
Extract my zip and run the start file.
If it detects your device then let it fix your stuff.
It cant get any clearer than that. Really appreciate this. I just need to get onto the computer now. Will do it in the next 24 hours and let you know how I get on.

I have a zip here as an attachment. (The Cwm veersion of my homescreen Repair)
Don't use it without a backup in recovery.
You might have to disable signature checking.
Make sure you put the zip on the sd card of the phone.
Goto mounts and storage in recovery and make sure that /data is MOUNTED!
I repeat, Mount /data FIRST.
Then go flash the zip from the sdcard or adb sideload(>Haven't tested sideloading)
Reboot. Enjoy.
Update!
It doesn't work for some reason.
Can I get a dev to help me?
Bump.

Bought on Craigslist, Factory reset it, Many default apps are gone, Lots of issues?

Hey Guys,
Brand new to XDA and new to messing with my phone in anyway, I looked through some threads, but am not sure if I can mess something up worse by not following the right steps,
I basically bought a used phone on craigslist, AT&T LG G FLEX 2 - LG-H950 and when I factory reset it, many of the default apps are not installed, cannot use my calendar and the phone is just a little off all together.
Not sure if the phone is still rooted or if the factory reset cleared it, and I am all together worried that the only reason the kid sold it to me was because he messed it up and couldn't fix it and just pawned it off to my dumas
I know its frowned upon to start new threads when the answers are out there, but i need this for work ASAP and if I screw it up and cant use it all Ill have to go back to my work iPhone (last resort, i hate it)
I started to follow hyelton's video http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
but got cold feet when i couldnt find my exact model the h950
It is currently on the android 5.0.1 and when i tried the update before i reset it, it said i couldn't update it something about the root. So i reset it and everything is the same as when I bought it on CraigList.
How do I get it back to square one, like it came in the box. I am interested in learning how to root and be in control of my own property, but I just want to get back to the start safely without bricking it so I can follow the forums and not feel so helpless.
im sorry if the first response to this just point me to another thread, but I will appreciate even that much guidance so at least i know i am headed in the right direction
Thanks a lot xda community
Branden
Factory reset won't remove root BTW. Recent Android phones seem to perform an integrity check prior to updating that fails when root is present.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3171550
Just read that to get the phone back to stock, then you'll be able to upgrade to 11x (5.1.1) and eventually 11z.

cool, thanks, one more question
I made an account with MEGA
downloaded the Flex2Tool 1.4.1 and unzipped
downloaded the system.img.gz
Started watching your video. however i am not bricked.
it has missing default apps and it says this device is suspected in rooting, software update is not available for rooted device.
so what is my first step after downloading these files. do i connect phone to my computer and open up the flex2tool and
select variant 1 which is H950 v10d etc
then do I select 1 , ( i do not need anything on the phone.)
or move straight to variant 2. restore unroot stock system.
if i do that next where do I put the system.img.gz file on my phone. anywhere in the internal memory and before or after I reset it?
sorry for all the questions and thanks for all the help. i am very new to doing anything besides calling or texting on my phone

1. You first need the LG USB drivers for the Flex to be installed
2. The system image file (gz) will have a .img file inside that's about 4GB, so unzip the one you downloaded with 7zip, preferably from a PC. Put the .img file on the root of the phone's internal memory before proceeding. You'll also want USB debugging enable and disable the verify over USB option
3. Once file is on phone you can continue with the tool, it will eventually go into download mode & show ## when finished
Sent from my LG-H950
okay i did that but
I dont understand your last thing >>>>"You'll also want USB debugging enable and disable the verify over USB option"
when i have my usb connected the phone gives three options
1.Charge Phone
via usb
2.Media Sync (MTP)
3.Send images (PTP)
When restarting the recovery tool after img. has been installed to root of internal storage. do i just start program or do i need to turn off phone or reset it or just run it with the MTP

Like that. Check that the USB debugging icon shows in the notification area while USB is connected as MTP. Then you can start the tool. Be sure that the .img is present on the root(sdcard0) prior to letting the tool reboot the phone.

Probably a good idea. I think the previous owner was trying to delete some of the bloatware and didn't properly restore the phone before selling it, not sure if that was done purposely or not.

okay, i reset it but still dont have default apps
the default apps for the calendar which was my original issue still is not there, just a generic Android icon. because there is no default it will not allow me to sync calendars, also no default messaging app.
not sure if this just put me back to 5.0.1 which is where already was but i am still missing default apps to make the phone run smoothly,
any ideas on what i may have done wrong

I'm trying tho. Been reading forums since last night with no luck

.gz like .rar or .zip are different types of compression, so download the latest version of winrar or use 7zip, you need the system.img file (4gb)
