Help with theming. - T-Mobile LG G2x

As the title says, i would like if someone can point me in the right direction to where i can begin learning to theme for this device or android in general. Ive tried searching around google and here on XDA but i havent found much.
Im very familiar with computers so that wont be a problem and i am quite tech savvy.

There are two "guides" I know of
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916814
and
https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AcdxIJRSH9ypZGZzc2pxNDlfMjdnazk4OHNxZA&hl=en&pli=1
Both put together by well know themers. There are a few themers on the G2x that I bet would help if you had questions. I'm just a baby themer, I don't mess with java other than apk manager so I can help a little.

I have been really getting into Android and rooting. I want to be able to make custom roms... Questions:- What programming languages do you have to know?
How do I start off?
A good question asked. I am also very much interested in ROM-dev. Some dev. may shed some light
Yeah hopefully.... Waiting for some light
Anyone
Someone should answer and help the newbies like us in making custom roms
Newbie
Help us to become develpor any dev please
Anyone
Any dev help us please
You're gonna want to search google for the android sdk, and eclipse, and learn about java. There's also kitchens for rom cooking around, but don't ask me where or how to use them lol. Lurk around the Android forums here on xda, and read up on the stuff you're most interested in doing, be it coding apps, theming, cooking roms, all of the above. You're gonna have to invest a good amount of time to develop any skill at this stuff, it definitely won't happen overnight. Have fun and good luck!

This is the wrong section for this type of question.
But, read this. Good reading material and it will point you in the right direction.

Not trying to bump this... but oh well, lol
although the question should be in general, I vote that the link in the second post be stickied. there are a lot of people (myself included) who would like to start learning how to dev, and to be honest, I didn't even know there was a chef section on XDA (I'm fairly new here, don't kill me, lol).
so I think a perminant link to the list of dev-teaching tools in that post would be a great addition to any dev forum
just my thoughts

Google has pulled the pdk information as it was "misleading" Since that information seemed vital, some more one-on-one help would still be nice. I'm at the beginning of a week off and wanted to dabble as well. I don't have actual programming background, but I figure ways to make things work (hulu on GB ftw!)

I know about the PDK, but there's a lot of good stuff in that link that are relevant. I say spit on it, and slap it to the top of the forum with the other stickies
Moved to a more appropriate section

Do a search on YouTube for Android Programming. I have found some great tutorials.
just starting my learning journey thanks
if you know of any other good guides keep em coming
Google does have a Training section as well. I haven't gone through any of it yet, but it may too be a good place to bookmark.

[Q] Is there any good place on where I can read up on...

I have been trying to look for/read up on the coding through linux and what not for the HTC One X. I have yet to find a good source, or any source at all, to kind of teach myself on how all the coding and stuff works. I feel very much like a noob/useless to the WIP threads here and would like to try and learn how it all works. That way I could be a some use when thread like this come around. So far it only looks like Yarrimapirate, 18th.abn, and Absolutelygrim, plus a few others who aren't as knowledgeable as those three working on the Unbricking Evita project.
Other than reading the WIP threads, I know nothing. I was reading the WIP S-OFF thread and saw this link HERE posted by 18th.abn but, nothing makes a whole lot of sense.
The only help I am around here is when the "HALP!!! My ROM won't flash and I'm stuck in a bootloop!!!" type threads get posted. I'd like to be of more help.
If anyone knows where a good tutorial is to where I am able to read up/ learn about the linux coding, it would be much appreciated if you posted that link.
Edit: Might try finding a "Linux for Dummies" type book and get to readin'.
If I knew what I was doing and had another phone, I'd throw ICJ on one of them on purpose just to help.. lol.

Coding as in programming? If sooo.. I'd suggest learning C which is pretty much universal for any OS...
As for how to learn Linux.. I'd say I'm pretty much self taught in every computer field.. so I can't recommend anything other than searching your questions
If you want to learn C I have an eBook I can give you

If you wouldn't mind sending that to me, that would be awesome. Started looking around on kindle and found a book on how to operate the command line. Currently reading that.
I figured most everyone is self taught, and I did have ubuntu 12.04 on my desktop, but never got around to playing with it because my desktop is now broken
I'll pm you my gmail

Dev Books ?

Hi newbie here. Been testing roms posted here on XDA since 2011. Im really enjoying getting the best available for my phone. Im interested in learning more about android developement. Maybe some of you could have some suggestions on how to get started? I love all my Samsung devices and havent used much else. What books if any on the Play Store would be the best for getting familliar with the prosseses of developement for apk. Kernal and Rom? Also there are some pc tools that I would like to become familliar with. (Kitchen, eclipse, and others I may not have heard about). I have been hoping to learn more in this new technology. I've got here an enjoyable hobbie. Now I feel has come time to move up to gaining a skill. Thank you for your advice in advance. And my apologies if I've posted this on the wrong section.

may be dis one will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067940. Before posting do some search here . Its a good habit
I recomend you to read "Hello Android", 2010, Pragmatic. Yes, this is OLD book, but it is the easiest and straightforward.
