[Q]Which has better battery life - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does ginger bread or pics have battery life....I'm getting like 13 hours on pics....not enough
Sent from my Nexus S

I get 4 hours of on screen time with Ice cream sandwich and a TON of off screen time (a couple days at least). On gingerbread just to get all the features ICS bad I downloaded a ton of things that run in the background which made my battery life worse than ICS. It depends on what you do with your phone. Plain gingerbread has much better battery life than plain ICS. If you mess around you can get decent stats with ICS

Nexus S Screen Off Animation Gone?

I'm not sure how or why but... my lock animation disappeared. Whenever I hit my power button on with my screen on I no longer have that old school TV off animation that I love. I'm using voodoo colors, live OC 110, windows animations 0.5. Not sure if that helps... I want my animation back :-(

Change Windows animation back to 1.0, should fix it.
Wow never mind. I feel like I wasted a thread. Simple fix. Set windows animations to 1.0x in developer options. Then you get to keep the animation.
Lool I posted at the same time as you ^. Thanks anyways very fast reply

[Q]Lock screen Mod??

Hey guys I'm hoping I'm asking this in the right place.. I was using CybrGR rom and decided to go back to bugless beast. CybrGR had an option that enabled weather on the lock screen (just showed the city, temp, and condition nothing fancy)... I was wondering if they was anyway to make this a mod or implement it into bugless beast.
Thanks

You're going to have to go back to another AOSP ROM. AOKP has that feature and is really good. Maybe try that one?

[POLL] what cpu governor are you using?

Hi!
I would like to know what governor are you using and why.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA
I was a fan of the good ol' "ondemand" governor for a while but a few days back I switched to "lagfree" - I heard of its good reputation somewhere inside the general sub-forum - and I ain't going back lol
p.s., You might wanna add a poll to this thread, it'll help, believe me
Hehehe I'm not sure on the list of governor available that's why I did not put an actual poll here.

My i9023 (Stock 4.0.4 and Matr1x v19 kernel) is currently running with the Lulzactive governor.
I've only had the last week to try a non-stock kernel (Matr1x v18.5), but so far Lulzactive sems to fit my needs well. It's clocked to 100/1200 MHz and everything feels very smooth and it doesn't drain the battery (that's the job of the S-LCD )
I've had good use of this thread which explains the different governors.

1000 Freq lags in ICS ?
Ondemand. I have tried several others (like lulzactive, smartassv2 and wheatley) but keep coming back to ondemand for the best mix of smoothness and battery life while still being stable. Wheatley gave me the best battery life a few Matr1x versions back but felt slow every now and then. Ondemand is good enough and stays stable.
Mmmhhh... maybe recent ROMS have already optimized it to run in that low freq. Before when early ics roms came out I have to over clock my cpu and always set it to performance governor so that it will run smooth.

I decided to give it a whirl myself. I toned down the CPU speed to 800 and the phone is still flying. I've been using it all day and no complaints. I guess now it's a toss up between lionheart and ol' reliable ondemand.
Ondemand and kickassv2 @ 1.2 love um both

try changing the launcher, some launchers are really unique and give you a brand new feel of your phone, TSF Shell stands out for me

Umm any A15s that's for sure, whether it be OMAP or Krait
As stated a a15 and a next gen gpu.
Preferably the one that is most power efficient.
Something from Intel. I'm anxious to see how Android handles an architecture other than ARM.
I want it to be a 32 core processor.

The average user can't even stress a quad core chip in a desktop.
Key is how fast it is clock for clock. How high it is clocked. And its efficiency.
Quad core CPU is useless on a phone.
I'm not worried about what processor is in the next Nexus phone as much as how good the battery is. My NS4G hardly lasts till I get home with light use before I get the low battery warning. Its better than it was since the ICS update but still nothing like my iPhone was.
Well what soc ( processor) you have does play a decent sized role in your battery life.
Let's have... APQ8064 (Quad Core Krait)!
Okay, A15 dual core is enough.
MSM8960T (Dual Core Krait + Adreno 320) is also ok.

I think your phone would be able to fly as well in the time that a phone will have 32 cores!!

Android's HAL is created specifically for OMAP. ICS is optimized for OMAP, so I can say with confidence that the next Nexus on JB will be using OMAP as in the gnex
1st choice: S4 Pro
2nd choice: Omap 5
Id like a revamped Nexus S with SGS3 quad core specs but no physical change as i love the look and size of my Nexus S..It'll never happen but basically a Nexus S with a (Exynos 4212 Quad + Mali-400MP Gpu)
S4 Pro with 2GB ram.
