I might pick one up, but i wanna know if it's battery will last throughout the day. i have a custom rom on my Sensation and the battery lasts for a good amount of time, and the sensation has a smaller battery than the One s so...
Snapdragon S4 and SuperAMOLED display will help to power consumption to be greatest than Sensation. And battery capacity is higher.
I think that with battery wouldn't be problems.

Can anyone share it's experience about battery life ?
A screenshot of the battery use chart would be useful.
No extreme gaming scenarios!
Just a normal day of use with:
- Some calls
- Texting (SMS/Whatsapp/Viber)
- Mail, twitter and foursquare synchronised
- Some apps like facebook, tapatalk running
- A bit of web browsing on 3G and WIFI
- Some pictures or videos
That's what it tells me after 14,5h

Can you make a screenshot with the list of things consuming battery like Wi-FI and check how long the screen was active ?
Hmm how should i check how long the screen was turned on?
You can see it in the picture before, the blue bars showing "Bildschirm an".
But its hard to find out the exact time with these blue bars, isnt it?

Simply click on display in the list and it should tell the time the screen was active.
Would be great if you could make a screenshot of that

Hmm, 68% used by display and only 2 h 41 m 25 s active
Is your brightness on maximum or does the display use that much?
On the other hand, 37% left after more than 15 hours is not bad at all
Did you use 3G a lot while you were not on WLAN ?

No its on auto brightness... I think the 68% is the average value for the time the display is turned on, because if i stay 2h on standby and then activate it, it says about 40% or less. You know what I mean?
I use HSDPA all time if its available and if im not on wlan.
Does wlan or 3G/HSDPA use more battery?

Yeah, I know what you mean
Generally 3G/HSDPA uses more battery than WLAN does.
Some smartphones (like my HTC Wildfire S) drain the battery when using 3G, especially when in areas with lower reception
But I understand that your 3G was turned on all the time when WLAN was not available which is about 4 hours if I do get it right ?

Ah ok thanks.
I'm connected to the internet the entire day. Today (16 hours now) it was 11 hours on wlan connected (at university and at home), so we have 5 hours left on 3G/HSDPA, maybe sometimes EDGE with low reception.
Is it better if i either use wlan or 3G or is it better to be connected to wlan if available and if not then 3G? Because when I'm on wlan I am also connected to 3G (not for internet usage but for the rest).
Strange questions, i know

No, it doesn't matter if you turn on both as it will disable the mobile network (3G/EDGE) once it's connected to WLAN.
But 5 hours connected on 3G, 11 hours on WIFI and almost 3 hours using the device (screen on time) is just insane !
Especially when you still got more than 30% left
I shouldn't try that with my Wildfire S, I have to disable 3G as it drains my battery completely within an hour, especially with low antennae reception
Thumbs up for HTC and Qualcomm, finally a phone with decent battery life
Can't wait till it's released here in Belgium, but I'm afraid I'll have to wait till the end of April when it's available here
left mine on stand by to see what the drain was and it was down to 91% after 18hrs 58 mins.
Did another check at 91% after using it fairly reg emails texts etc and 91% came up at 5hrs 37 mins, will be using it more frequently tomorrow.

Now that Current Widget works on the Sensation It would be interesting to see what everyone else is getting on idle.
Im running standard rom Vodafone UK Branded and it doesnt seam to dip below 200mA on average, the lowest was 89ma for a few secs then shot back up. I have had it running and logging over night.
What is everyone else getting?

Mine is around 250ma when in idle. Overnight I have bluetooth, wifi, gps and push mail off and it only checks mail every 4 hours... so not quite sure what it is doing. Was running the same s/w on my HD2 and was getting < 5ma.

Same for me, I was getting <5ma on my HD2 when idle.
I wonder if SetCPU really works with the Sensation, having 250ma when idle would kill the battery way too fast!
I'm not sure if I have the maths/theory totally wrong, but pls correct me if so.... but if we have a reading of 250mah that means we are taking 250 ma per hour. Say our baterry is 1500mah (should provide 1500ma for one hour) does that mean we get 6 hours (1500/250) from a full charge??
Shoot me down if I have the theory wrong.... but 250mah does seem a lot. Presume that we need to trust the reading we are getting from the Battery Monitor Pro widget.

I think your math is correct, but something is surely wrong as I can get 3+ days under very light usage.
something wrong with mine tooo, ex user of hd2 usually around 7-9 mah when hd2 in idle, now use sensation around 200++
I gonna leave it 1rst if my battery drain in 6-7 hours then something wrong with my sensation but if it over 8 hours seem there is flaw in current widget
When the App does logging, your phone will need more power. Not accurate in my opinion. I also got something like 200 mA for idle. But it's not so much more when playing music etc. I assume the display consumes most of the power (Android's battery usage info agrees with me). Try measuring it in standy as follows: Disable your logging apps etc, remember your battery status in %. Leave it in Standby overnight, remember the time when you turn it off. In the morning, check your batetry status and note the time so that you can tell how many % you lost in what time. Then take that percentage from your battery capacity (1580 mah with stock battery). Divide this by the amount of hours and you will find your standby drain. Mine is something like 16 ma.
Example: Your battery when you go to sleep: 80%. You sleep for 8 hours. Your battery reading now: 70%. Thats 10%. 10% of 1580 mah is 158 mah. Divided by 8 is 19.75 ma. That's your standby consumption.
I recommend you do this when your battery is around 50%. My battery stays at 100% for a very long time, don't know why...
Just installed an update to the Battery Monitor Pro Widget that is supposed to address the issue of high current readings ont he Sensation. Will see how it goes.

Makes no difference.
No app to date is accurately measuring the stdby current (screen off) Clearly 200mA is not correct as your phone would only last 8 hours wiith no usage!
I'm getting 6 mA on idle, around average of 200 mA while in use.
I'm using battery monitor widget(free version).
I'm recording the history at 1 hour interval. sometimes idle mA doesn't record because it fall within that time frame.
but when it does, 6mA.

Now here's a strange thing.... was looking at my ma usage graph over night and noticed a couple of times it was on almost 0ma and not the normal 200-250ma. On looking at the history I noticed that this as the only time the temp fell below 25deg C. All other history was 200-250 and the temp was 25 and above.... very strange.... might put it in the fridge for a few minutes tonight!!

The recent update to CurrentWidget mentions it now works on the Sensation, but it's definitly not reading mA's correctly. Still a work in progress, I suppose.

I am running on roughly 7 hours at 78% of battery left. Been using the Internet a lot (Facebook, some Drop Box upload/download) and the Wifi is on all the time when the tab is not locked/standby. I played a little bit of a basic game as well (Free Flow), so it isn't graphically intense. I am by no means the most experienced here, but in my opinion, that sounds like some decent, if not very good, battery usage..

I used mine on Friday for 10hrs,tons of browsing,I turned the screen on and off many, many times, video calls for roughly 10mins,music,games for 45mins and at the end of all this I still had a 42% left.
The device is the P3100 wifi+3g it is rooted; I was only using wifi,so no 3G at all, I also had the tab on airplane mode with wifi constantly running,so no 911 calls.
I am running the latest stock rom,it is rooted and bloatware free,I also limit the background processes down to none,1 or 2 max.
So far I am very happy with my tab, although wifi is still spotty.
OP What are your settings?

Yes, my screen is usually on about 6 to 7 hrs. And my battery life is about 15 to 24 hours.
I wonder those said their battery can stay for more than 1 day, how long was their screen on?
My guess is although the battery can stay long time but the screen on is only about 6 to 7 hours.
If yours only 5 hours maybe the gsm signal was not good. Try to change to 2g only. Or change other provider.

I use it a lot for hours and hours, but it is never on for more than 1hr.

No problem for me about battery on Tab p3100
I felt that having Sim card inside the 3100 drains the battery pretty fast. I was not using much of 3G/GPRS connection. So after removing the Sim, I found battery usage reduced drastically. Overnight, the battery used to drain by 7 to 8% in standby mode with Sim card inside.
I don't understand, how people can comfortable use tablet with screen brightness at 0% or even 20%... it's mystical to me..If you buying tablet, you want to get good screen quality, good battery life (even at 50-70% brightness), smooth performance and so on...I have 2 tablets, ipad 2 and Samsung 3110. I really love my samsung, but battery life totally suck on it, when you compared to ipad...

Yes, in my experience with the S4 it's a pretty big difference UNLESS you get a very strong LTE signal. I'm on tmobile and now have the N5 and use the 3G setting which is HSPA/+ Plenty fast for me for what I do. When I want some extra speed I'll kick on the LTE
Does anyone have a more detailed answer for this? I just got this phone yesterday so I haven't been able to find out myself yet, just with 5hour battery life from 100% to 4% on what will only be half of its normal day I'm looking for anything to help right now till I get a battery case. This phone is one of only two to have a LTE radio that is supposed to use 30% less power than usual so I'm wondering if that makes it as efficient if not more than 3G for idle in your pocket to light stuff like FlipBoard.
it would depend on the quality of the data connection. im in brooklyn nyc, and use lte on my nexus 5 exclusively, used to use it on my nexus 4 as well. with 3g(hspa+), on both my n5 and n4, i average about 4-4.5 hours screen on time. when using lte, i average about 5-6 hours screen on time on both my nexus 5 and 4. after noticing this difference, i use exclusively lte on both my devices, as i average an hour more screen on time when using exclusively lte.

Serious battery drain can have many reasons. One is having LTE on, syncing on(if you just booted it up, and input your Google account and let all your apps sync and download, its gonna drain your battery fast the first time), having locations on and wifi enabled. If you are in an area with poor reception, your phone will drain more trying to find connection.

Thanks for the information. That's what I was wondering but I couldn't find anyone that had already tested this with these new radios. If I get the time this weekend maybe I'll do my own test in detail to compare LTE to 3G. Am thinking of using a TV episode on Netflix and see which makes the battery drop faster over the 30 or so minutes.
Slightly off topic, does anyone's WiFi show as always on in the battery monitor even if its been off? Still trying to figure out my battery drain issue, if it even is an issue with just me, I bought this phone knowing it had a small battery.

Seems that's a whole other debate on weather leaving that on or turning it off helps battery life. Apparently if you turn it off then apps that want your location will turn the GPS on and waste battery (looking at you Facebook...), but if you leave it on the phone just tells the app your location from WiFi networks around you.
One thing I didn't think about is I had added my work WiFi yesterday but it wouldn't connect to it, wouldn't tell me why but I'm assuming it's because of bad signal as I'm a valet outside and the WiFi is from a bar across the street so I forgot about it but WiFi was left on with that network saved, my Nexus 7 can connect to it on most days and any laptop has no issues but with this being a phone I guess it doesn't have a big enough antenna. So I'm wondering if now that I deleted that WiFi network, and I always have my phone set to not notify me of public networks, if my battery won't die so fast today.
And now I'm just rambling but I just looked at my screenshot I took yesterday of battery use before plugging in at 4% and WiFi isn't even being shown on top six things that used the battery, lowest one being shown is a Chrome process using 3%.
EDIT: Well off to work now with my phone 100% charged, will have screen 100% (am outside in the sun), BT off, WiFi on (disconnected, no saved networks nearby, open network notifications off, always on during sleep, scanning always available, avoid poor connections, and WiFi optimization), LTE on/connected, NFC off. So lets see how things go. It will have tons of screen on time as all I do at work is read through FlipBoard, then if I run out of things on there I move to FB. Lets see how this goes...

Nexus 5 has it and its doing its job saving battery
Sorry for digging up such an old thread, but with LTE my Nexus 6P, it switches between HSPA and 3G. When turned to 3G, nothing changes. Would that mean I would save battery?

Hi all
Was just wondering what sort of battery drain you are all getting when doing some web surfing? i think i use roughly 25 % when surfing for an hour, does this sound alot?
Chris
Disable it allowing location that'll be the cause

Assuming you have root, just download one of the app ops opener apps and it's all easy in there

No im not rooted, can it still be done?
Hmmm... Check the browsers own settings. Otherwise u might just have to turn location off. My browser was hammering the battery and when i better battery stats'd it it was always calling for location for some reason u see

Hi,
But 25 % used in 1 hour while browsing... it's not what I call a bad battery drain..., seems normal to me. It depends if you are on Wi-Fi or Data and the signal quality (screen brightness?), but I don't see something wrong here.
What did you expected?
Agree with the above - A good WiFi signal will give more battery than LTE which in turn will give more battery life than 3G. You might notice 5-10% per hour difference between these scenarios. However, I have always found the biggest difference to be screen brightness which might alter battery drain by 10-20% per hour between lowest and highest brightness.
4 hours browsing on 3g with full screen brightness would be good so that's why it's hard to answer your question.

No thats fine then, sorry badly worded title, im glad its normal. i have screen brightness right down and perfect signal, no wifi on...but if thats normal then i dont mind at all.
Seems normal! Enjoy your Nexus5!

it would greatly depend on which browser you use. if i use chrome, and use about 20% battery, id get about 10% battery use out of the aosp browser for the same use.

it would depend on the quality of your connection. i get much better battery life out of lte use than wifi, by about 1.5 hours screen on time difference.
Hello xda community
Just bought this phone few days ago(brand new) and I'm experiencing bad battery life(at least for me).
So, I installed those apps: Whatsapp, Snapchat, Instagram, Sofascore, Deezer, Uber and of course GSam Battery. These are apps that i've always used and never had problems with them in a term of battery life.
First major problem is idle. So, what the hell, first night went to sleep with 100%, woke up 7 hours later with 80%, so I went into settings and disabled wifi always on and the other night it was better but still bad, went to sleep with 100 and woke up with 87%...
Second problem is SOT, I've been using phone for messaging mostly, some browsing and taking pictures and that's it, only on WIFI and NO GAMING at all and right now I have freaking 3 hours SOT and only 26% of juice left which is awful for me. I used to have that SOT with Galaxy S6 and that phone is known to have very very VERY bad battery life..Forget to mention: loacation off, data off, bluetooth off
Do you have some advice? What can be so power-thirsty on my device?
I will post screenshots with all my instaled apps and all the battery stats
.
In other terms this phone is a beast even in 2017. Performance is even better that on my dad's S7, camera is really good, I kinda like EMUI but battery is really starting to be a porblem for me so please help me if you can. Thank you very much.
Here are pics
Day #3
7 AM 100%
Data on, wifi off, blutooth off, location off
3 PM 30% with 1,5 SOT,
Can someone please help I'm really getting bad battery life..

Install BetterBatteryStats to know more what's eating your battery.
Update after 20 days of usage:
Most awsome thing is idle.. i turn on airplane mode when i go to sleep, wifi is on(but set to never stay active), and after 8 hours of sleepong, literally 0% of juice is used. Amazing. And through the day, when I have data turned on, i check my phone 2 hours later and maybe 1-2% is used :good:
SOT is always different, depends a lot(A LOT) on usage, from 2,5 (data on, bluetooth for headphones, camera, maybe location turned on sometimes etc) to 5 hours (wifi only, bluetooth location and data turned off). I think battery life is okay, what makes it great is that 20-30 minutes is enough to charge a lot of juice with quick charging

Sorry my post is confusing..
So, average 4 hours, but if I tend to use a phone heavily than not more than 2.5-3 hours. When I say heavily than I mean data on all the time, brightness above 60%, some bluetooth connection, lots of social media and browsing the internet.
When I'm at home, wifi on and data off, brightness 30% cca, I can get around 5 hours max.
Is that okay considering your sot?
The first sets of SoTs you posted are unusual. The last seems more on point, but a little low.
I average around 4-6 hours SoT which is average for the device except if you really crack down on all battery consuming apps and services.
4-5 hours for me consists of maybe 2 hours on mob.data and the rest on wifi, location on and a few minutes of gaming/maps/camera.(Brightness on auto, so pretty high most of the time)
If factory reset didn't help, you might want to try to manually update your system either via OTA or through some of the methods found in guides.
Generally I'd say something isn't quite right.
Though you might want to add your model number emui version

This one is a little older but i remember trying to simulate heavy use with this one, mob. data is on when wifi is off, it just doesn't show because of the skin.
I also have one with 6h and 17% left with mostly wifi so that's that
Edit:
Oh hang on, actually this one was the two days and barely used one.
Well you get the picture i guess

So here is my classic day. Awful battery life today..
At least in my opinion.
Unplugged at 10 AM, data on and wifi off, used basic apps like Whatsapp Instagram Chrome.. listening music with blietooth headphones for one hour apx. (Deezer-but offline!). Didn't really use my phone a lot today.
7 PM only 2 hours SOT with 35% juice left.. like I said, barely 2,5 hours of SOT I can get with data on..
I uploaded screenshots of my battery life, my EMUI version and all my apps installed.
Can someone figure out why my battery lofe is so awful..
Can't install betterbatterystats cause I don't wanna root my phone yet.
Thanks for advices.
