I have an HTC Explorer. When it is charging I get a splash screen that shows a battery charging, is it possible to turn off?
Also, had the HTC Explorer supposed to have a notification LED as I don't get one on my phone.
Cheers
No and No
Nope. it is not possible to turn it off while the phone is charging.
No. The phone does not have notification led. Hell, it doesn't even have a front facing camera. But I'm sure you knew that.
Isn't it possible to be done with a custom ROM?
That charging screen is kind of annoying...
I've tried JaggyRom but it keeps turning on while charging =(

So here is the deal...
My kids needed a night light as we are on vacation so I decided to plug the power charger and left the flashlight app on the entire night. Now that I think about it not a smart idea.
When I woke up this AM the phone had the battery charging icon on the screen. This only appears when the phone is charging while it is powered off.
So far I have removed the battery several times and tried to power the phone on with no success.
I have also tried to hold the volume down and press the power button as recommended on various forums with no luck.
I am overseas right now (home town is the usa) and I need my phone more than if I was home .
Any idea how the flashlight app left ON while also powering may have caused this?
Or is this just a coincidence and I am having an issue that others are having and it is not related to what I did last night?
Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.
By flashlight app do you mean one that turns on the camera flash or one that leaves the screen on?
I am also unclear what you mean by:

Does the icon appear even when not charging? Does the screen function at all? Or does the phone seem completely dead, as in not even vibrating when powering on after removing battery.
If it was the camera flash, it might have overheated and damaged something, but this is just my speculation.
By flashlight I mean the one that leaves the screen on in white color.
The icon only appears while the phone is hooked up to the charger. When I unlplug it it disappears. (So to me this answers your question if the screen works at all).
The phone does not vibrate when I try to power it on after I remove and put back the batter.
Thanks for your quick reply and hope this answers your questions.
Hi ,
I have a small issue with my sensation
when i plug the phone into the charger it turn my screen on ...
and if i forget to turn off the screen , it wont turn it off as if it was not charging
and that means the phone will be very hot after few hours of charging..
the same is when the car charger
btw the option that the screen will stay awake while charging is turned off on my phone
thats why i don't understand why it wont turn off the screen.. :\
thanks
Fixed - with the help of S-Off
Hmm, that's interesting. I thought for sure that it would have been that option. Did u try turning that option off then rebooting the phone to see if it stuck, to see if its still turned off.

Yep i tried that the first day i noticed the issue..
still no luck.. :\
hm... weird. Mine certainly will turn the screen off itself.
I used to select "stay awake while charging" on my other Android phone. When I first got the Sensation, I forgot to turn that option existed and thought that was a standard Android feature. I was so annoyed that it turned the screen off automatically when charging, only remembered later that this option exists....
Just remember to stay by your phone when you're charging! I was out of the house and I left my Sensation plugged in. One of my friends gave me a call and hung up. Since the screen was set to always on when charging, the phone was hot by the time I got back!
at least now i fix the issue..
I got S-Off on the phone, and got a new ROM on it.. and now everything as it should.. =]
No screen issue for me.
Hello guys.
I have my Sensation and I did (100% correctly) its S-OFF, I install the touch recovery which worked fine, I even try like 4 or 5 ROMs until I get to AOKP Build 40. Then one night suddendly my phone turned off, I've tried to wake it up powering on but it did like a small vibration and the screen did a small blink, so I think it was the battery with low charge. I put the phone to charge connecting the charger and sometimes I see the orange led static, sometimes it blinks, sometimes it turns off almost immediately and sometimes it get static in orange (charging) and in a while go to green (charged 100%). By pressing the power button just a few times I has powered on, sometimes it freezes in AOKP logo, sometimes it pass it, enter into Android and then freeze, but almost everytime it never powers on, it just make small vibrations like every 4 seconds until I put the battery off and when I connect it via USB sometimes the screen blinks like if my phone is trying to turn on but something is preventing from doing it. Right now the last time it turn on was like 2 days ago, from that day it just do what I've explained. I've tried to power it on, VolDown+Power, etc. and nothing.
Can anyone tell me what happened to this phone? Some people told me is a software matter, some tells me is the battery. The thing is I have no idea what it is.
I have used XDA and Google like a demon and nothing. That's when I do the thing I hate the most: Make a thread.
Please help me on this, I need that phone returned from the state it is right now.
Thank you so much for reading me.
Best regards.
can you boot to recovery?
Is it a stock battery or anker battery? Sometimes the battery doesn't sit tightly on the contacts, place some paper between the top of the battery and the housing. I have never heard of your problem before but I have dealt with bad contacts and they have some similarities.

Hello I'm using HTC M8 on GPE 5.1 rom.
Does anyone know of an xposed module or any other means to turn off all gesture/proximity features? I want the screen to ONLY turn on when I hit the power button.
The screen keeps turning on in my pocket for notifications which then causes but dials or emergency calls.
So does no one else have screen on issues when phone is in their pocket?

I can't be sure about the diagnosis of your issue, but in my case, I used to have a similar problem with my Galaxy Nexus
When the phone thought it was charging, it would light up in my pocket. The problem was that I had been using different usb cables to charge the same phone. And one of those usb cables had bent something in the micro-usb female slot of my phone. So the phone would randomly light up and go to sleep even when I wasn't touching it.
This not only caused the battery to drain more quickly, but when the phone lit up in my pocket and I was accidentally touching my activated screen, it would do all kinds of things in response to my touch. The short-term fix was to enable the lock screen on my phone (which I didn't like having) and set the debugging mode to stop turning "on" the screen all the time when it was charging (which is a setting I usually have on all the time because I am a developer). However, this didn't solve all my problems. The screen still lit up in my pocket from time to time, even if it didn't stay lit up for long.
The longterm fix was to use the same micro-usb to usb cable (the one that looked the closest to the original cable that I could remember) every single time with the same exact phone. And that eventually did the trick. I also looked into replacing the component in question, but I didn't have to go that far since the simpler solution worked for me.
Is there a way without ROOT to Keep Screen off when plugging in charger? My wifes s7edge turns on when its plugged in or put on the wireless charger and then the screen goes off and only lights up once when its done charging... On my Note 8 I noticed at night that my screen keeps lighting up every 3-5 minutes or so telling me the battery is at 100% So annoying!!! Why do they not have an option without root to keep the screen off so its not flashing on and off every night?!?! Anybody know a trick or a setting I'm missing? Is it the fast charging option? Haven't tried turning that off yet... Small but annoying problem...

Seems like when I turn off wired and wireless FAST charging it eliminates this problem!!! YAY, who needs fast charging going all night right?! So just enable and disable as needed in device management, battery, menu advanced settings and toggle as needed if this is an annoyance to you!:good:
