Hi,
I did read quite a bit and apologies if I missed it, but I was wondering can I reduce the number of widgets on the lockscreen.. to say ZERO.. he he
I dont want any "quick" widgets on my lock screen.. i like it plain!
Any help will be appreciated..
You mean like delete the clock widget?

You can change them, but not get rid of them
as phoenx said, you can get rid of them. To change them go to where you change the lockscreen & when you select one you can press any of the 4 icons & it'll give you a list so you can change them to whatever app you want them as

Yup, thanks guys, I know I can change them and finally gave up on deleting them at 2AM and went to sleep.. hahahaha
I don't get what you mean by widgets in the lock screen. The lock screen being *swipe finger sensor* or slide to unlock?
EDIT: ohhhh... this is sense not motoblur... xda app does not distinguish forums very well. Sorry bout that

he means the icons that are preloaded on the lockscreen... there are 4 of them. like mail, message, phone & camera.
Yeah I've never had htc sense. I don't know how I originally posted in the sensation board... coming from motoblur.

Relevant bump!
I too, would like to delete the homescreen widgets. The mail, calendar, contacts, etcc.. (the ones you swipe your finger to access.)
Can anyone lead me as to how to do this? Thanks!
You could try installing Widget Locker ($2.99 in the Market). It's a lockscreen replacement that allows you to fully customize your lockscreen...including removing all shortcuts!
I just received this phone today brand new. I rooted and ROM(NSCollab Sprint 1.0.51) since I'm fairly familiar with the process coming from a Vibrant. I noticed that when the background is a shade of gray(like a dark scene of a movie), I can see lines and grids in the background covering the entire screen. I didn't take notice prior to flashing the ROM. Is this a known ROM issue or do I need to replace my phone?
Thanks,
You probably need to download voodoo control app and adjust your color settings.

Unfortunately I've tried that with no luck. ill see if I can attach a picture of it.
I suppose if you can't see the lines when you zoom into the picture, than it must be my screen.
I don't see any lines in that screenshot. It looks perfect.

It's the screen. I recall reading somewhere about someone else having your issue though, like a whole grid coverying the screen in a darker shade. Probably read on XDA... Use the search function and you might get lucky, because I don't remember how it ended.
I got the same lines, but i think its just the screen?

My nexus s has the same effect on backgrounds of that color, and the Engadget review even pointed that out:
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/12/nexuss6001.jpg.
I don't think it's a quality control issue as it effects most of their AMOLED screens (I also saw it on a Focus and it's on my Cowon S9 too), more like Samsung cutting costs somehow. Just a fact of life with Samsung.
I guess replacing the phone wouldn't help....man I miss my vibrant screen.
So, I'm trying to get the GB "screen on" animation working for our ROMS. Ya know, like the screen off animation but opposite? I had it on my CM7 ROM for my droid and liked it.
I figured it should just be a matter of editing the screen enter XML in the framework-res.apk.
So I decompiled both apk's, one from the DROID CM7 rom, and one from the Romulus rom I'm running. Cause I knew that the DROID rom had the animation. However the the XML files are exactly alike after comparing them.
Am I looking in the wrong folder? Wrong XML?
Also need to figure out how to make it a flashable zip after I recompile it. Using apk manager.
Tips anyone? Was up till three last night tearing apart xmls. Would like to work this out for us!

If you are looking for the actual ROM boot animation screen, and not the first Moto screen that is located here:
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
Right now by default on the AT&T phone it is a dripping AT&T logo...
If you want to change the Moto dual core screen or the "breathing" M logo, then good luck with that, that is part of the bootloader itself.
If you are talking about when you hit the power button and turn the screen itself off, then there is going to be more to it than 1 apk. You might want to look at the UI headers and the UI.apks, not the framework-res.apk.
I am just grasping at straws here, since I am in no way a themer, but I do understand the intimate working s of android and ROMs.
You might also try the theme section of the atrix2 forum.

its super easy to change the boot logo too. just create a raw image 540x540 invert blue and green. then save it as logo.bin and flash it with fast boot.

Naw, I've already changed my bootanimation. Got rid of that AT&T crap a while ago lol. No probs with that. And I know that I changed the splash screen on my droid, I pushed it through ADB, but i am assuming that was possible because the DROID's bootloader was unlocked.
Anywho, what I'm looking to change is the actual screen "on" animation for our phones. The animation that happens when you hit the lock button to wake your phone. How the screen comes up. I want it to do the opposite of THIS.
I know it's possible, I just gotta find the right files.

That is why I suggested you take a look at the UI header files and the UI apk files, it is most likely in those, and not the framework files.

Ohhh.. that's the CRT effect... What do you mean by opposite of that? You wanna turn it off? Probably very difficult to change the animation style...
But, to turn it off you'll need to decompile your framework-res and go to /res/values/bools.xml. Change the value for "config_animateScreenLights" to true. That should get rid of it.
Funny, people with other devices are looking to turn CRT effect on.. I actually have no idea what it will do instead of the old tv style off, but let us know if it works.
Edit- wait, just re-read your op.. you wanna give the screen on the crt effect? No idea how one would go about that.. Or maybe what i just wrote will enable that... imma try it out

now I am at a computer and can type a full response... The breathing M logo as you called it is actually part off the default boot animation, which is why it goes away when you change it. the dual core screen is whats called the boot logo and is called by the boot img from the logo.bin "partition" if you will that can be flashed. it is just a raw image with green and red (or maybe green and blue or some other combination) flipped. save that as logo.bin and flash it with fastboot.

OK, I know I've just been rambling to myself basically, but I got it. Had to do some goofy stuff - extract the edited unsignedframework-res.apk, then re-zip it, no compression (store) style, then it worked with the simple bools edit. Never had to do that before for a bools edit, but oh well... So, anyway, if you change it to "true" it will get rid of that CRT style screen close - it just gently fades away now... and so do I...
Could probably piece those few posts together for a small TUT...

Thanks for the link was waiting like where is it.....
OK so I just installed the latest No-Name CM 10 and everything is working great but have 2 issues 1.Google search on the home screen won't let me enter text just closes when I try .
2. The screen size or it might be called aspect ratio seems too small
Any advice??
for 1. Update google sound search app. Or reflash gapps.
2. Pic please?
OK so here is the screen shot but not sure if you can notice it just seems smaller than 1280x800
I updated search and still same problem and gapps was the newest one on list I can use the voice feature but not enter text I select it and it opens then closes right away
Used these gapps?: http://nexfiles.kjonigsen.net/tf101/gapps/
Check what your DPI is set to, that might be an issue. Idk it's very hard to tell by picture. The screenshot is 640x480 though. So I think the ratio is right by proportions?
ro.sf.lcd_density 160
What should it be
It should be 160. That's super weird x.x.. I'd try a total wipe and reflash, and look at build.prop file in /system/
Your first issue sounds related to the one described here:
https://github.com/josteink/device_asus_tf101/issues/12
Can you try that workaround?
That worked thanks I had done the offensive thing but not hotkeys
What about the screen my DPI is 160. It might just be me but looks smaller than before like when you change a PC from 1280x800 to 800x600 things just look bigger like you don't have as much room
Change the DPI then, to a lower value, untill what you set is comfortable. c:
So what is a good number
Sorry meant higher, higher is for bigger. I'd try 240, and if not 177, just tinker with it a bit. Some display dpi's break playstore but there is a fix.
This shouldn't be an issue to begin with. This shouldn't need fixing or hacks.
Try doing a full wipe/factory reset.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Not sure if this is an issue with the ROM or just it looks different to me now I think it comes down to personal preference unless someone knows what the true DPI is supposed to be and we can compare

Nav bar is really annoying and it consumes so much space on the screen.
It's OK on devices like Nexus 10, but it makes 5 inch screen to be 4.5 or even less.
Why google doesn't op-in the touch buttons on the lower body like Galaxy ?
Rhetorical question?
I don't think it really moves it from 5" to 4.5". Probably more like 4.8".
If you don't like it, definitely look out for customer roms. Even CM offers full screen mode. But there will be plenty of ROM's with PIE available within the next few weeks.
I hope Google gives us the option to hide it a bit more, such as in the camera, video and gallery apps...
It's a waste of space and is one of my major gripes with the phone (I still love it).
I do find that the extra bevel space at the bottom gives you a much better place to grip the phone.
Get another phone.

It's not. How easy is it to take same approach as galaxy ? I don't see any cons in doing that.
It's just terrible how much useful space it eats up now.
I got rid of my navbar. Using pie controls instead. The extra screen real estate is awesome, especially for gaming.

I like the navbar, I just don't like how big it is. Once Xposed is working for 4.4 I'll ditch the pie controls and just shrink the navbar down to my liking.

I like the navbar, and it's a key feature of Nexus devices. If you think it's stupid, don't get a Nexus device. Simple as that.
I swear, this is just like people who buy Samsung phones and then complain that they hate Touchwiz. If you hate an intrinsic property of a specific phone, maybe just don't buy that phone. Seems pretty obvious to me.

You do know that the nav bar goes away for full screen apps made with 4.4 in mind and in nearly all full screen videos until the screen is touched, right? What do you need that extra space for when you're not watching a video or playing a game?

Google was never fast at coming with good designs. It took them like 2-3 years to come up with a nice looking design for android. Same for web.
So I hope in a next iteration they will get rid of nav bar on phones whatsoever.
Count me in as a nav bar supporter. It's not like it takes up that much space. Plus, on custom roms, you can customize it, which is a lot of fun as well!
