hTc Doubleshot NOT Getting Official ICS - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

hTc recently announced that our device will NOT be receiving an official ICS update. Here's the full list: http://blog.htc.com/2012/03/ics/

Wow that sucks, our device is very capable.

Eh, we'll get CM9 soon better than a stock update.
Well, Some-what stable CM9.

Way ahead of you on that announcement. Lol.

i saw the ports and i doubt so. i followed the cm9 msm8x60 development and the bottomline is that they need a custom 3.0 kernel in order to get everything to work properly
that requires quite some work and means that someone has to port the current doubleshot kernel modifications into the cm9 3.0 kernel. According to Kornyone we're talking about ~5000 lines of code. if nobody does that we will never have a fully functional CM9.

News say that we will get a small maintenance update March 19Th.
But I mean, personally, I think the phone is fine as it is.
The only think they could improve is add the ability to delete the bloatware like AT&T does.

I believe it is Sprint that allows you to delete bloatware. at&t until reciently had their stuff so locked down you couldn't even install Amazon app store.
But yeah I agree with you the phone to me is fine as is except the bloatware.

True, AT&T Doesn't let you install anything from an "Unknown Source" unless you're modded.

Actually, they just recently unlocked that feature. Cell phone companies just need to stop bloating phones up with apps no one ever uses (like Rosie).

I don't know about AT&T not allowing unknown sources, but I know for sure that in their recent phones they do allow you to delete bloatware.

Captivate 2.2.2

So I updated to the official 2.2 (go ahead and boo). My wife has the Aria and I did her upgrade a few hours ago, and her Aria is running 2.2.2. It weird that the Captivate only got 2.2 and not 2.2.2?

Its not that odd, as HTC as always been one step ahead of the others, when it comes to updates. It will most likely see 2.3 as well long before we do.

Well the update from 2.2.1 to 2.2.2 is a few bug fixes from what I have seen. Like an sms fix for sending out wrong sms to the wrong person, but if going from 2.2 to 2.2.2 then there are alot of extras like BT dialing, better support for exchange accounts, the SMS fix and a few other things I am sure

Thanks I have a buddy with this phone back east and wanted to see if it was worth having him give it a shot but sense he is on cyanogenmod I think Ill have him stay where he is for now.
As for your question yeah it is normal for HTC to be ahead of the rest on updates. To be honest if ATT had the Inspire when I got the Galaxy then I would have gotten it instead as I know the updates are more often and they are easier to mod. Thanks for the SS

That is the one I read about for the update.
I know it would be a fair amount of work and I don't have the moxie to do it, but it would sure be nice to have an objective pro/con list of Froyo, 2.2.2, 2.3, and a few of the top XDA Roms now available. I'm happy that I've gone to the "dark side" but I have to admit that I'm curious about the pros/cons of returning to stock versus all the other alternatives. I really wonder if 2.3 will/would be a significant advance over what we now have available. Any thoughts?
No problem.

ok guys just what we been waiting for gb....
to bad it doesn't have more stuff i was really hoping for power control on the notification...
and i have a few questions..
can i root with superoneclick or easy root with mac?
now the gb is out i know the devs are gonna get to work on it.
for those that updated have you notice there is no camera app?????
there is a camera app, just that it's stock rather than lg's.
no really the stock camera app is missing its not there. i did a factory reset and still is not there.. would have to use another app from the market
that's weird. it's there for me. i did a hard reset after i flashed...
ok well i was thinking about that but like i cant root after the update i didnt wanted to lose all my apps from titanium backup lol

Whats next? Lots of whining until Ice Cream is released.
I really hope GB and new drivers fix the issues people are having.
I'm stoked for this. Now our custom ROMs can be optimized using proper drivers and what not. This should help development a **** ton.

I don't really care about the GB update. I already have that running the CM nightlies. I want a stable and working phone. One I can depend on to make calls day in and day out. One that gets the same battery life day in and day out. I want the LG drivers to make everything function properly. Mad props to the CM guys for doing what LG has failed to do so far, but now it is time for LG to deliver a REAL working, bug free update so we can experience the phone we are supposed to have.

No. It requires Sense parts. Not worth it to bring it in.
Far as i can tell the one x cm9 retained the sense cam app due to of being a nightmare.you can use ics camera anyway even now on ours. Ics+ through market is the ics camera app just adapted and a few extra features.

His girlfriend just had a newborn, so I'm thinking he may be busy for a while, I'm trying to reason with him into letting him give some of the new developers a starting point with his code for the kernel for ICS, and possibly a starting point for the Camera to work, but until HTC puts out another source, we're stuck without a Camera for a bit.
Any news on this? Not that asking for an eta, just curious of progress.
