I've updated my profile and added a photo.
Will my previous posts get updated with my new profile info or only my new posts?
If only the new posts then I hope it works beginning with this post.
EDIT: I'm editing this post to say the answer seems to be neither old posts nor new posts get my updated profile info.
REVISED QUESTION: Are noobs like me are conspicuously identified by the absence of a photo? Nah, no one has to upload a photo. So what's the problem? Why isn't my photo showing up on my post? It's my last best photo - it's downhill from here.
Are you confusing avatar with profile pic? AFAIK only your "avatar" shows up in posts. And it will show up in old posts once you load it. Profile pic only shows up if you go into someones profile.
Thanks!
Finally uploaded my photo as my avatar here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editavatar
At the moment it shows as broken on my posts. Maybe it takes time to be pushed out.
UPDATE: It's done. Thanks!

Ok I searched and could not find anything, and this is not related to viewing posts per page settings.
I just tested this on this thread
When I am logged out there are 3 pages with 10 posts per page with the last page having 9 posts for a total of 29 posts.
When I am logged in there are 2 pages with the first page having 10 post and the 2nd page having 3 posts.
I have found this to happen a lot to me on numerous threads when I post a response... only to find out there are a half a dozed additional posts responding before me, making my response either invalid or not in context.
This is a little weird, can anyone help with this please. I can post screen shots if needed.
Thanks
I just wonder whether this is happening because it is set to open at the last unread post in the thread. I.E. not opening at the end of the thread but at the point you last looked at the thread. This does not apply when you are not logged in.
Sometimes I find this myself, you assume that the last post on the page must be the last post in the thread, without realising of course that since you last visited, a new page(s) has been added. So if you reply to a post on that page it will not take account of the page(s) of posts yo have not looked at yet.
(This may not be the situation with you - merely a suggestion.

It's a possible scenario and, of course, I appreciate any suggestions... but the physical post count in the thread is different for logged-in/not logged-in because I went back to count each and every post to make sure I wasn't going crazy
I'm not sure if this is related or not, but since I'm a newb, I needed 8 posts before I could post links to external websites.
I spent some time posting in some different forums to get up to the required 8, then I posted my detailed post with some links.
Then I came back a few hours later only to find that I had been reset back to only 3 posts...
Now I'm back to 5 after I post this.
I'm not really concerned about my post count, but I'm pretty sure some of my posts have disappeared, and I usually take a bit of time making sure they are well thought out and are easy to read. Kinda sucks when that time is wasted...
To XDA Forum Mods and Developers.
Now, excuse me if this was asked and answered - could not find it anywhere.
Let me exporess MHO: a feature of this forum which would store and bring up the links of last, lets say 10 (preferrably customizable ) posts would be a great addition and time saver. Now if one wants to find his posts (to see if they were answered for instance) he has to go to quick links -> your profile -> statistics -> Find all posts by ***** (and sometimes the search feature is not working so the site asks you to try in 10 minutes...). And here you go.
Considering that many of us (my opinion again) would start our XDA day by checking the responses a direct link to this feature (in the same quick links) would be much appreciated.
If such a shortcut exists i would apologize and ask this thread to be deleted.
If it is the only way and everyone does this steps - see above.
If it is hell of a hard thing to do and there were no request before and you don't think it is something important - see above..
If this was answered (that picky google... ) - see above...
Thanks in advance
P.S. taking the chance - thanks you for this forum (though since i got my HD2 I am ugly addicted to it, and my work suffers.. )
Use the forum subscription feature in your usercp. It has more features, and lets you watch a thread for new posts. Click usercp up above and take a look
yeah, i know this feature. And i do subscribe for threads. But only the most important for me. If i subscribed for any thread i posted something in i would have some 50 subscriptions- not that easy list to browse through... And some posts are really not a life-time-follow-through (i know i can delete subscriptions, but to subscribe, to follow, and then delete - that is even more steps (everyday!) - and hence mess - then "search your own posts" option, with earlier-mentioned drawbacks)... Also it does sort the subscribed threads according to the last post date/time. Which is a mess because one would need to browse through HIS recent posts, not the others...
There is a "Track messages" button in userCP. I meant something like "Track posts" options would be great!
Thanks for a reply though.
A real time saver on these large threads would be the date of original post so you know that you already read it or you don't want to read it any longer as the content even on new posts is not of interest. For example most of us know that if someone truly finds a video chat app it will be posted asap as a NEW post.
Thanks
Hello folks,
since all other threads concerning this topic are either outdated or are about trying to fix this problem by themselves I've decided to open a new one.
The problem mentioned above should be well known to almost any android user who uses Gmail to manage and sync their contacts.
Because Google ignored earlier requests I'm trying to spread this one single request as far as possible. If enough Gmail users read and star this thread Google has to react in any way.

Link to direct suggestion of features for Gmail<-- German, but don't hesitate to like the feature suggestion there too!
If you are registered in another major forum please share the link so we reach as many frustrated users as possible.

Voted.
In fact i've added my support to many threads like this on the Google Forums over the last year, as have hundreds of other users. I find it utterly baffling how after all this time, Google still haven't addressed this issue.
If Google were to increase the contact picture size even by merely 10 pixels, they would need massive amount of additional server space.
I'm not saying it's not doable, just not as simple as we'd like to think.

Actually I thought of that point too, but I made a quick calculation.
I am able to get a decent picture quality (JPEG,256x256px,8bit,quality 65) at under 15kb per picture.
Now imagine you are having 1000 contacts, it would be around 15MB of data just for the pictures. And now take into consideration that any Gmail user already has over 7,6GB(!) of free storage. Would anybody miss 15 or even 50MB?
But all this has already been written in the request thread
thanksd xzss
Come on people, just 22 people within 1.5 days starred this issue. We need more than that!

We need to put some pressure on Google to fix the Low resolution contact images that are synced with using GMail.
Please +1 the following post: https://plus.google.com/109941711245...ts/PwRx3SHNbjR and try to get #AndroidLowResContactPics trending.

still no solution for this problem...?
still nothing....
any other solution?????
For info, the problem is now solved. Google fixed it.
I just updated my pictures contacts via the website (I guess it also work directly on the phone), and pics are now in correct resolutions!
How can I embed screenshots as a new user?
I just drafted a post the contains phone screenshots uploaded to imgur.com. But I can't submit it because:
To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!
Click to collapse
So where can I upload the screenshots, or how can I embed them in the question?
Hi!
Until you reach 10 useful posts, you cannot post outside links on the site. But you can try adding the image attachment directly to your post when you create it. It will be uploaded to the XDA servers. :good:
I would need to know if you are using a browser or the XDA app to point you to further help. But again, look around and contribute some constructive comments or questions, and you will be at 10 posts in no time.
Good luck!
I'm using a browser, and I can't find any way to add an attachment. When I click the editor icon to insert an image it only allows me to specify a URL.
(As for 10 posts: I'm not knowledgeable about this stuff at all yet, but I can keep asking questions!)
Click edit on post... Go advanced... And then manage attachments. You'll see a new attachment screen where you can add and upload, or remove attachments.
That should work.
Edit: that's editing a post to add attachment. For a new thread or post... Again, There's a manage attachments button. You upload from there.
No "Manage Attachments" link or screen anywhere that I can see in advanced edit mode. Should there be for users with less than 10 posts?
Can you let me know the browser and xda theme you are using? (XDA theme drop down is at the bottom of every page)
You could try clearing the cache on the browser you're using. And definitely try another browser or two.
And the default theme is 2015, unless you've changed it... You could try another theme. Like 2013 or 2013 beta.
The manage attachments button is a rectangular button mid page in advance edit screen, new reply screen and new thread screen.
And I'm checking to see if its permission related. :good: It may very well be post limit related... I'm checking that to confirm.
Edit : can try on a pc, or the XDA Free app from play store as well. See of it works there.
Using Chrome and XDA 2015 theme.
A few more posts and we'll know if it's post related
Yep, it's post related. As soon as I broke 10 posts the Attach Files block appeared!
Hmmm... I replied here that yes, posting links and uploading attachments are both active at 10 posts. Sorry about that, my post obviously didn't go through. Lol
Glad it's sorted now! :good:
