ICS update in this scenario? - HTC Sensation

I don’t usually post questions as I’ve leant to read the guides and the many helpful threads and posts for the information I seek, but in this instance I don’t seem to be able to find what I’m looking for...
Thus my question...
Could someone advise if I will be getting the ICS update over the air... I have a Sensation (from Orange UK which I de-branded) using a stock HTC Rom 1.45.401.2 and then I rooted it using the Revolutionary Method, now when I boot into recovery I get the following
S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.17.1111
Radio 10.14.9035.01_M
For me to get ICS what do have to do? Or if someone could either point to the correct thread/post I’d be extremely grateful.

32A being difficult - Perfect SPLed? (remote: not allow)

Hi guys,
Recently picked up a White 32A Magic and am having difficulties with it. Info is:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.76.0007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.07.29
Aug 4 2009, 19:43:30
Laptop is loaded with working drivers as have previously flashed two others 32A's with CyanogenMod.
The phone gives the FAILED (remote: not allow) response when trying to fastboot into RA_Amon's latest Hero recovery image.
Am I stuck here?
It looks like I can't goldcard it because I need to flash to a higher ROM and there is not one available.
Yet Amon_RA states specifically in his Hero recovery thread that "it will also work on the 32A Sapphire if you flashed the 6.35.x.x radio and 1.76.x SPL".
If it's of any use, I believe the phone originated in Thailand (has the CN Thai Keyboard).
Help?
Would appreciate any input.
Thanks
Scott
Quick question... did you bother to read any of the stickies on top of this section of the board?
Sure did, wanna direct me to which one answers my question?
Also searched, and found conflicting information, hence started a thread.

I would, except I'm not familiar with which SPL to use with the new radio, since that kind of opens up a few more possible ways to get bricked.
Exactly why I started a new thread. There is no thread I can find, nor external site, which already covers my exact situation.
U'r not searching or reading at all.

I've reread your post several times and still don't understand why you can't use a goldcard. That's a perfected SPL but I'm 99.9% sure it's rootable. You can't use fastboot because you need an ENG SPL. A goldcard downgrades or just basically changes your SPL/Radio, why would you want to go to a "higher" aka upgrade your rom? That might just bring you to an unrootable SPL. You should be able to downgrade it using a goldcard. Maybe this will help? I have a hero with basically the same info that you've provided and simply used flashrec to root it. I did have to use a goldcard though. I don't see why you can't use a goldcard. Do you know what a goldcard does? I doubt it.
I love how you say it looks like it doesn't work with a goldcard. Did you TRY it?

It's everywhere, you didn't try did you? I type in google "Fix perfected SPL" and "htc magic perfected spl" and the guide kencix gave you is right there. Make yourself useful and don't make useless threads. This also has nothing to do with Android Development.
@scawtt: My magic had the same specs of yours. I follow this step-by-step and my phone is rooted now.

This is the only helpful post in the thread. Listen to this man.
No offense to others, but all he wanted was what ramersonw said.

Custom ROM Help

I was wondering how you would install a custom rom to my ds with the following:
Hboot 2.00.0002 unlocked bootloader with htvdev s on and not rooted.
Thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Install a custom recovery, i.e. clockworkmod, see here under section 1, step 2.
do I have to be rooted?
EDIT: I can't s-off my hboot version is there any way to downgrade?
The suggested guide will still work.
If you want to downgrade, there are two threads here (look for them) already for that. Get shell root, then change the misc version then install the RUU.
can you please give me the link to the thread? and what are chances of bricking if I downgrade? And do I need a goldcard and what is one? Thanks
anyone know what to do?
If you cant use search then you are 100% likely to brick your done....
Go the general section.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1031 ....... Then at the topish right it says search this forum....... type in "downgrade" and make sure show threads is selected (noting worse than a million posts from the same thread)...... then its the the two top ones.
Fear not though I have the link here to the search results.
I understand this is all some sort of crazy back water town language and customs, I really do, so take a week and read read read and read, NOBODY is unable to understand it, crazy I know, but is possible.
And if you did some research you'd see that your questions have been asked (and answered) several times.
Good luck for the week ahead.
thanks a lot so if my phone is branded (which it is to vodafone) i download the vodafone ruu? I am following this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399331&highlight=downgrade
does anyone know what to do?
Any help appreciated
As far as i know downgrading works with both branded and unbranded ruus, but i would recommened to use the branded one. Afterwards i would flash the eng hboot (0.98.200) which simplifys further customization.
Sent from my HTC Desire S
i don't understand the bit about the eng hboot what does that mean? and do i need a goldcard? and what is one?
anyone know what to do?
Decide are you going to use HTCdev unlock or are you going to downgrade. If you are sticking with HTCdev then ignore the ENG hboot.
And just make the goldcard already, and no you don't need root, I have two goldcards in drawer, just to be safe, so make the card. I've already told you what to do, you refuse to listen.
I also told you to take a week and read cause you don't know your elbow from you foot currently, and stop bumping your post every few hours.
I won't help any more cause you can't help yourself.

Q Desire S Hboot and Radio

Hello! I want to upgrade to the new hboot and radio. CUrrently got the 6.98.0000 S-OFF by Revolutionary and want to put the reengineered 2.00.0002 - 7.00.0002. Im wondering which radio should I use in case of not getting it bricked and if someone can give me links for the new radio and hboot I will be thankfull.
P.S. I want to flash them via fastboot flash [hboot] [recovery]
Do your research.
Radio can be upgraded if you're s-off. Search how.
Radio version to be used should ne determined by the rom you use.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
I also suggest you read around the subject so that you COMPLETELY understand what you're doing before you start
See links in my signature, including INDEX
Although suspect that as you're on 6.98 (revolutionary) you may have to go to engineered 7.00 rather than 2.00, but not 100% sure

[Q] [Desire S] Revolutionary, S-OFF, need to update

Hey all. I posted this in the wrong forum by accident, so reposting here. Also, this may have been asked before but I did a search and couldn't find a thread quite like it!
I am currently running Android 2.3.3 and HTC Sense 2.1 on my HTC Desire S. I have used the Revolutionary method to S-OFF and root the phone, which allowed me to uninstall branded bloatware and add some interesting apps.
I have not been able to update the phone as quite frankly I have no idea what I'm doing, and the OTA update will brick the phone. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to get the latest version of Android and HTC Sense?
I'm in the UK on the Three network. After doing an extensive search for the specific RUU matching that, I can't seem to find it unfortunately.
Many thanks for your time.
I'd suggest you just flash a custom sense rom from dev section, which is very easy to do. and a lot of those are better than the HTC ICS rom
If you really want to go back to stock HTC, follow this video guide, check video description for links

You can find 3 branded RUU here, at the bottom of the list
http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Saga
Ahhh thanks so much for that list! There was a forum post I found with details on how to unroot, but all the links to the RUUs were dead. Does it matter which RUU I use so long as it's meant for the UK? I can't seem to find the one for Three network, unless it's under "H3G_UK"...

Is your phone branded? If not, just use the Europe ruu
thwbyan mon
Well it has a Three network splash screen and sadly it's still locked to the network, but other than that I don't think so

Yes that's the one
I'm very sorry to have to bump this, but I followed the instructions that I was given and ended up with the infamous Error [140].
While fastbooting, I now have:
***Security Warning***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.98.0000
RADIO-38.03.02.14_M
eMMC-boot
Mar 10 2011,14:58:38
And when I try to use the OTA update, it goes straight into this Fastboot screen. I literally have no idea what's going on now.

you must install the original RUU, which will remove all your data and install original ROM Android 2.3.3, recovery, hboot and radio
i suggest RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed-ORIGINAL.exe from here http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=Saga
or you can put this zip on your sd card, and install it from bootloader: http://dfiles.eu/files/bh4avk6uz (easier method)
Thank you for your link and RUU file. I tried running the Europe RUU.exe, but came up with "Error 131: Customer ID error". Still the same information in the bootloader as before though.
Sorry to bump this again, does anyone have a fix?
Or would it be easier to root and s-off once more then flash a rom that was similar to stock?

probably be easier to s-off and flash ice cold, it's the closest to stock with none of the bugs of stock

Need help updating hboot via RUU, S-Off, etc.

I'm using CM10 and I've been wanting to update my S4 to a KitKat rom for some time and now that some stable builds are starting to come out I decided it was a good time.
On my first try flashing a new rom I got an error message asking for a newer version of hboot (mine is 1.14.0002 and it wanted 2.15.0000), so I looked around and found out I needed a RUU to update that, but since finding one for my phone is pretty difficult I decided to S-Off it, because apparently you can use any RUU that way.
Obviously it's not working, that's why I'm posting this. I did the htcdev method to unlock the phone back when I installed CM10 and to get S-Off I followed the rumrunner method. No problems whatsoever so far. They start appearing as soon as I try to update the 2.15.0000 RUU I downloaded from this other tutorial (the HTC Europe one, since I live here).
Following all the steps in that page I read about needing to change the phone's SuperCID to make it compatible with the RUU. First I tried with the default SCID that my phone had (VODAP304) with no luck. Then after a bit of searching I tried changing it to HTC__001 which seemed to be the correct one for the european RUU, but the same thing happened: it gives an incompatibility error, the process stops, the phone bootloops and I have to do a TWRP restore (the back up is from this morning and I made it just before attempting this, so no data loss of any kind)
These are the numbers bootloader gives me, if they're of any help:
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
VLE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-VODAP304
HBOOT-1.14.0002
RADIO-1.08es.50.02.21
OpenDSP-v29.1.0.45.0622
eMMC-boot

What exactly am I missing here to update the hboot?
You don't need to install RUU, you need to flash a new firmware. Take a look at [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322755" ]this [/URL] thread.

But isn't that for kernels? In several hours of research I haven't found one post about kernels for my issue
It does look similar to another method I've found recently that flashes the hboot through fastboot/recovery but users say it's much more risky

Yes it's about kernels and the problem with the new roms is nothing but the kernel. So firmware update is enough as a solution. I don't think it's dangerous if you follow the instructions correctly. But you should follow them word to word with your own risk
