I made a backup before flashing any roms of my original stock os. I was just wondering if after flashing a couple of roms would it still be possible to use the back up to go back to stock?

I would flash a RUU for the firmware your backup uses, then run Revolutionary for fastboot commands and recovery. Then restore that backup.
Pd: Yes, its a long method, but I prefer taking my time rather than brick my expensive phone

You can restore a backup made of your STOCK ROM..
But your device will be still S-OFF means rooted..
to UN-ROOT or revert back to stock you have to flash a suitable RUU for your phone..
If you find my ans useful please hit thanks
Wouldn't the restored backup then also need to be unrooted?
If the aim is to return to stock, just flashing the ruu is enough. Of course, that does not give you back user data from the backup.

If the backup was taken BEFORE rooting then you'll be unrooted when you restore it. You'll still have S-OFF, though
I tried flashing my back up to stock and I got stuck on a boot loop

You need a RUU, its a completely stock rom with stock recovery, just flash it and you will be back to stock.

Don't worry, simply boot to recovery and take another nandroid backup, you'll probably never need to go back and if you need you can always use the ruu route

I'm going to need to restore this sensation and unroot it before I send it back into HTC to take this dust out. How do I go about unrooting it and reseeting it to S-ON?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
You would need to download stock ruu and run it from your pc and when that's done you need to put it back to s on open your cmd typ your commands to get your fastboot drivers working and then typ fastboot write secure flag3 and this will put it back to s on that way they want see that it has been unlocked

Hey, that's easy, don't worry.
Follow this guide: http://tinyurl.com/RUUGuide
to find your right RUU & instructions on how to flash it.
You'll need to flash the RUU twice. (Hboot pre-update)
Tanks.

no i dont need the rom i have a backup but i need the stock firmware cause im getting boot loop
Hello all, got my HTC Sensation few hours ago! and im already stuck on a bootloop D: lol
So I found out it was hboot 1.18 (still had gingerbread), so I used the root method included in an AIO program.
Everything went fine, I'm s-off'd with 4ext recovery.
Then I wanted to do the superCID thing, but I flashed latest 3.33 universal firmware full from joaquinf thread first, and it never booted correctly, it restarted on the bootanimation always. So I tried flashing a the 100% stock deodexed rom of mike1986 and it also bootlooped.
So I came here to ask, cuz idk what to do now.
Thanks!
Once you upgrade the firmware file you need to DELETE the pg58img file off the root of your sd card or it will continue to update over and over when you go into bootloader. After you updated your firmware did you delete the file? Hope this helps.

Yes, I deleted the file with my computer. The thing is that im always stuck at the bootanimation and it restarts.
Are you trying a gingerbread rom with that fw? If so that's your problem and flash a ics rom and your done.
If that doesent work try flashing something like cm9/10 or touch cream.
